When I returned 20min later, the food was already ready. Both dishes were as expected, good but not the best I've had. The fresh rolls came with peanut sauce which was great with the roll, but I felt it wasn't enough for 2 rolls. Drunken noodle had good flavors. I ordered spice level 2, but I could barely taste it. Would recommend going higher if you like spicy food. Overall, I would return if I'm in the area and craving Thai food. read more

We really wanted to love this one, but the service on the day we came was just not good and I'm sorry to say but the food didn't make up for it. I'm not sure why but service was so slow; I saw employees organizing wine glasses in the bar instead of tending to tables, so we kept having to flag them down not only to take our order but also at the end to get our check AND to remind them about the table next to us since they forgot about them too. We ordered the rad nar which I really did enjoy, but the pad kee mao and pad see iew were just very average, and the egg flavor in one of them was really unbearable for me to eat (mind you I was the non veg eater of our group). Additionally, we had noted for a to go order to be taken at the end, but in the midst of all the waiting time we spent just to pay the bill, they didn't end up giving it to us and we forgot about it since we had other plans to get to for the night. We came for dinner on a Friday around 5pm. We didn't wait but shortly after we were seated, the restaurant became very busy. We ordered pad thai with prawns, pumpkin curry, and mango sticky rice. Pad thai: the prawns were actually small sized shrimp and there were about 6 shrimps in the dish. We ordered level 2 spiciness as I cannot handle spicy. The first bite was a bit sweet but later came the spice. I loved it! The flavor was addicting. Pumpkin curry: the curry didn't come with rice so we ordered 2 sides of brown rice ($3 each). The pumpkin was thick and yummy. There were plenty of veggies in the dish. I tasted a lot of coconut milk than I liked but overall was good. Mango sticky rice: the sweet/sourness of the mango accompanied the sweetness of coconut milk well. Only complaint was I finished too fast! Service was great as they kept coming to refill water and asked if we needed anything. When I asked for spoons for the curry, the server also brought out extra bowls for us to share. Solid spot for some Thai food, especially if you're looking for spice. They have a great dining area with a front patio and the ambience is good I got the Pad Thai and you can choose the heat level from 1-5. I usually go with 3, which is the perfect spice level for me. If you want even spicier and can handle it, go higher. Be warned, however, the spice is definitely for real! The Pad Thai is also on the sweeter side here, but it was still a tasty serving. Good food in a nice space! This is the oldest Thai restaurant in Seattle, and they make that clear from the sign outside haha. We had a large group and made a reservation ahead of time, but didn't really need it since it wasn't too busy inside. I tried the black rice pudding dessert which was pretty good - the black rice was well cooked, and the sweet coconut milk complemented it well. I did think it was a little too salty though. I also tried some of the pad see ew and drunken noodles, both of which were pretty good. This spot has all your classic Thai dishes, and do them pretty well but nothing too outstanding. Most delicious thai food in Seattle lower Queen Ann area. Our work team walked over for lunch. We were delighted by lunch specials. Started with fresh spring rolls with shrimp and vegetarian version. It was tasty and the peanut sauce was perfect. Of course for me, I added additional spicy sauce :) Lunch of the lunch specials were served with pad thai and a pot stickers. I visited Bahn Thai recently to try out their lunch special and had a pretty good experience overall. The Good: - The lunch combo option was a filling option for under $20 (I believe exact pricing was $17.50 and you get pad thai noodles [amazing flavor], rice, and one chicken gyoza [which was alright]). - The ambience was nice and well-decorated. I personally would have appreciated some calm music in the background, but that's just me nitpicking. - The noodles were a highlight! - Our server was kind and attentive. The Not-As-Good: - The thai tea was flavorful but incredibly sweet--almost too sweet for my taste--and it was nearly $7! I feel that's a bit high for what you get. - I'm a *huge* fan of thai curries, and these ones fell a bit flat to me (I tried both the red and panag). The consistency was quite thin and the flavor just wasn't as strong/great as I would have liked it to be. - The prices were quite high for what you get imo--I've had lunch specials in NYC that were cheaper and more flavorful, but that may just be my personal experience. I love coming to this Thai restaurant for lunch. Not only is the customer service always amazing, but the food is delicious, authentic, good portions and very affordable. The inside has beautiful Thai decor. I always get Thai tea here. They are so very kind to substitute the milk with coconut milk for me. Sean has been our waiter and he is so friendly, kind and very attentive. He's the best. I've tried the red, Panang Curry the seafood dish, and the Pad See Ew. They were all delicious. It's decent food. Nothing so good that I'll claim it to be the best Thai food or anything but it's decent. I ordered pad see ew because I was with a larger group that are not used to share food. I wish the pad see ew doesn't stick together but that it's hard for most restaurants to do so because it requires the proper fire. The blanket prawn appetizer is pretty good, not too cheesy and freshly fried. I think the service is up to par and the waiter is courteous. Had an amazing experience at Bahn Thai, the service was truly excellent. The servers were incredibly attentive, filling our water glasses whenever they noticed they were getting low, and checking in to make sure everything tasted good, which it absolutely did. We ordered the khao soi, fried rangoons, pork belly with sticky rice, and everything was flavorful and perfectly prepared. The Thai tea was so good, I had to order it twice, and their plum wine was absolutely delicious. Ordered online for pickup -- chicken satay and green curry with fresh tofu. The green curry was spicy (good) but otherwise very bland and thin; it tasted mostly like watered down coconut milk, was off-white and had very little green curry flavor or other depth in flavor. The chicken satay was good, but I don't know if was worth $16. The green curry was also expensive ($22), and I've had much better green curry for half the price. I am generally happy to pay more for food that is really good, but overall I don't think the quality of the meal warranted the price tag (especially considering the lack of flavor in the green curry). There are several other Thai places within a few square blocks; next time I'm in the area I'll probably try those instead. read more

Decided to head over after seeing it was one of the closest options around where I'm staying in. From the outside, it looks movie-like (old building, cute stairs and sign). Once I went in, I realized that the restaurant is meant for in-person dining, as they're doing the full-on glassware, decor, music, candle-like setting, etc., so it felt like I had done the right choice by not ordering online. I was received by one of the waiters (no host/hostess on-site) with an "are you picking up?" question rather than a "Hi", "Welcome", or "Do you have a reservation?", which I found a bit odd given the initial impression of an upscale experience. I brushed it off and asked for a table for one. Got seated looking towards the wall and against the staff (brushed that off as well), and started looking at the menu. Spent around 10 minutes waiting for anyone to acknowledge me and take my order (having to do a 180 every couple of minutes) until a very kind waitress noted and asked if I had been taken care of. From then, the service got better immediately (kudos to her). I ordered the chicken panang curry and realized that rice should be ordered separately, so I did. The latter was cooked perfectly but the curry itself was extremely sweet, which I didn't expect. I hadn't gone with the Pad-Thai given other reviews I had previously read of it being too sweet, but I guess it's their signature style here. I successfully consumed about half of it and got tired of the lack of balance between the flavors. The sweetness overtook the plate. At the end, I was very glad I ordered that beer. It may be a comfortable spot for Thai food amateurs but I'd choose a different location if going for authentic flavors. read more

Searching for nearby food I came across Bahn Thai - which is the same name as a restaurant in our home town in Orinda California. We thought it was a good sign. We arrived and were greeted pleasantly. We opted for an indoor table. Service was very friendly and professional. The food was incredible! It was fresh and delicious. A great value. TLDR: Great food, pad Thai portions are massive, get rice with every order, and order take-out since it's on paper and plastic for dine-in. We stopped by with some friends and the place lived up to the good recommendations. The waiter warned us about spice levels, but we were quite happy with our 3 and 4 star options in addition to our two mild selections. The portion of pad Thai was like 2x anything else easy though, so that's a really filling meal if you need one. The best dish of the night however was the basil with chopped chicken stir fry. That stuff was crazy good, and is enough to keep us coming back. Pad Thai and pork cashew nut stir-fry were good, Garlic butter prawns were okay. The only really disappointment was eating on a paper plate with the food served in plastic cups. Definitely good food, 4.5* really, but I can't round up when served on a paper plate. You go to the front of the restaurant, place your order, pay, and they bring it to you. As you can see the utensils are not appropriate for the soup. Another negative is eating out of plastic. The ambiance is not what it was, I applaud them for staying open in these trying times. Do yourself a favor and get the food to go. We have dined at Bahn Thai many times in the past, but have not been in a while. I booked a reservation for 5:30 PM on Saturday, October 18th. We were seated promptly, but after 25 minutes without service, I asked the host if he could get someone to take our order. A person came shortly to take our order and brought the glass of wine and diet coke right away. We waited until 6:45 for our order, but nothing came to the table, so I put a $20 bill on the table and left. It was particularly irritating to notice people who were seated after us being served. We had tickets to a Seattle Opera performance at 7:30, and I didn't want to end up having to quickly gobble down our dinner if and when it was served. Can someone call the fire department, because my mouth is on fire! My wife ordered the pad Thai with chicken and the Pad See Eew. MAJOR PRO: Holy moly they give so much. When we got the delivery, the two dishes weighed like 6 pounds. I'm a big eater and love Thai food, and the amount they gave us was fitting for two separate meals. Love the portions, and that's a huge plus for us. So if you're hungry and craving Thai food, this is the place! The food was really tasty, but for some reason, I think the dishes lacked some acidity to it. The pad Thai was great, but it was sweet and I actually went to my refrigerator and cut a lemon to add some acidity, which made it better. It's just missing that...kick. And wow our mouths are on fire ! I ordered a 2 and my wife got a 3 in spiciness, and we finished what we can with our lips numb and noses runny. I'm not the best at spiciness at all, and my wife can eat some spicy food, but man that was tough to finish. I would recommend this place if you're looking for a decent Thai food.
