Service is good and the restaurant is large and nice. My pet peeve when ordering curry is when the rice is not included, it is not indicated, and the server doesn't mention it. The pumpkin curry is $3 more then all the other curries which isn't listed on the signs advertising it. $28 for a single curry no drinks before tip is pretty steep and more frustrating because it isn't indicated by the server or menu. We visited Rom Mai Thai on June 9th after completing our Alaskan cruise. We were walking around Seattle and decided to stop here for lunch. When we got there the restaurant was about to close in about an hour and a half. There was one other party there, and what we noticed is that this restaurant had a lot of to go orders. Multiple people were going in and out within that last bit of time before they closed to get ready for dinner While we were there we got combo v that was the pad thai and the swimming Rama vegetables. We also added a papaya salad as a starter because it looked amazing based on the pictures I saw online. Every bit of food we had was perfectly balanced with sweet, savory, spicy, and the extra hint of citrus where needed was perfect. I never had swimming Rama vegetables before and the sauce they were in was so scrumptious. Our server was a complete gem. He knew that we were going to split portions of the meal and asked the chef to do that ahead of time. He also came to check on us multiple times even though his shift was about to end. The space itself was right and inviting with all the different decor and green that painted the walls. It was a very casual vibe and you could tell that a lot of heart was put into the space. If you are ever in the mood to try some delicious Thai food please come and check this place out. read more

Rom Mai Thai is located in Cap Hill, so as someone out of town visiting Seattle, I knew it'd be a pain when it came to parking on a Friday evening but I managed to find it a spot about a 7-minute walk to the location. The service was kind, food is pretty good, and it's a good place to have a conversation which is why my friend who lives in Cap Hill picked it. I don't think it's particularly anything special in the realm of Thai food but it was still solid and an enjoyable experience ultimately. read more

Their service is on point and their staff are kind and attentive. The atmosphere is peaceful and nicely decorated and pleasant. Their quality has gone downhill, though, sadly. Curry dishes? They've watered down their sauces so much that it's more of a wet glaze than a sauce. Not enough to cover a good portion of rice anymore. And their portions have shrunk while the prices have increased, though that's probably due to the economy. Stick to their soups, which are still good and filling. read more

This Thai spot is tucked into the heart of Cap Hill, right on Broadway -- I grab takeout from here on particularly busy days since the portion sizes are large, but take this review with a grain of salt since I can't speak for the dine-in. The staff have always been very nice when I stopped in and I'm sure that dining in would be a significantly better experience! From a takeout perspective, the food is very OK and a bit on the pricier side. Everything tastes decent and like a classic Thai meal -- I've gotten Pad See Ew, Pad Thai, Pad Kee Mow, and Thai Fried Rice since the location is so convenient but I've found that sometimes the noodles stick together too much or the rice isn't flavorful enough -- on top of that, I find myself having to reheat it. I love Rom Mai Thai. I started coming to this place when I would visit and grab dinner with my friend on the hill. Now that I've moved to the neighborhood, I come here at least 3x a month. Their food is delicious and the portions are a generous size. They don't charge more than most Thai restaurants which I appreciate because food has gotten so expensive these last 2 years. Definitely visit during their lunch hour if you can. My friend and I always order Combo A and substitute the pad Thai for pad see ew. Yes, I said SUBSTITUTE!! Came here last night with a friend. It was around 7pm on a Thursday, and the restaurant was pretty empty. We were craving Thai food and happened to be in the area, so we decided to come on a whim. The food was pretty good! We ordered the crispy spring rolls to start. They were piping hot and fresh. Slightly on the expensive side though for the size. We ordered pad see ew with chicken and pad kee mao with chicken, both medium spice level. The pad see ew tasted like traditional pad see ew I've had before. It had good flavor and the noodles were thick. The pad kee mao was pretty different than what I expected. Usually pad kee mao is a lot wetter and has a little bit thinner noodles, but these noodles were basically the same as the pad see ew noodles. The flavor was less intense than the pad see ew, so I wasn't the biggest fan, but they were pretty good still. Both of the dishes weren't spicy at all, so if you want spicy, you should probably order extra spicy. Next time, I would order a notch up in spice level. For capitol hill, this place isn't too expensive- the noodles were about $16, and we each paid about $23. For a no frills Thai place, I recommend coming here. I'd probably come back and try some of the other dishes like the fried rice or the curries. They have a pretty expansive menu with other special dishes, too. read more

I've walked by this place many times, and always wondered what it would be like. Being forced to stay home, I wanted to explore my lunch options that were close by. At most Thai places, I would use the pad thai as a barometer to see how good the food really is, but the Swimming Rama Noodle really caught my eye. "Noodles, spinach, peanut sauce". It seemed so simple, could it really be good? To be honest with you, those items sound like an awful combo. If I put those three things together, there is NO WAY that they would taste good. I've had a lot of thai food in my life though, and I have faith in the thai cuisine's use of peanuts to make incredible food. I dropped by to secure my lunch, and was greeted with open arms (as a matter of expression I mean... they were incredibly nice, but also respectful of social distancing). After bringing back the food and popping it open, I realized that the presentation was very rough. That being said, there is absolutely no way that you can make this dish look pretty. Whatever, I was just looking to slam a ton of noodles, I didn't care what they looked like. This amalgamation of leafy greens and ultra thick peanut sauce was hearty and satisfying. After taking down this entire meal, there was 0 chance I was finishing any work for the rest of the day. I actually had to take a nap after. Give this place a try!! read more

My wife and I decided to go out with my mom and her husband, they love Thai so we found Rom Mai Thai on Broadway and thought we should give it a try. The staff is friendly and the vibe of the restaurant is great. The decorations are appealing and it felt like an all around good family place to dine. It was pretty cold in the building though... We ordered drinks and a spring roll appetizer(the one thing I didn't take a picture of, man I was so hungry). The drinks and app arrived quickly and at the same time. My wife's Thai tea was absolutely delicious! I had a classic Singha beer which I would recommend to anyone that has not had it. If you are getting Thai food you must try a Singha along with your order. I'll be honest our main dishes did take a long time, longer than I normally would like. There was a lot of orders for pick up and many door dashers picking up. I think because of this the cooks were slammed and the service was slightly slower. This is the reason for the 4/5 star review. When the food did come it was very fresh and tasted great! I ordered Spicy Duck Curry and woooooooooh it was amazing. If you are looking for a classic Thai restaurant give this place a try, I don't think you will be disappointed. The speed temperature and taste of the food was A+! The only thing I might advise on is to not get the pad Kee Mao , if that's your favorite Thai dish. We have been in Seattle for almost two years and this is probably one of the best Thai restaurants I have been to. The staff was really nice and we were promptly seated as soon as we could be. The staff was very attentive to the table as well as meeting our needs. The food overall was delicious. I had the mild Thai fried rice and it was super good. It had cucumbers, rice fried to perfection and I had the beef with it. There is also a vegetarian option available. My partner ordered a spicier rice and she really enjoyed it. The spring rolls we had as an appetizer and they were really good spring rolls. I loved the way they were cooked and they had REALLY great, fresh ingredients. The restaurant had a nice ambience to it and a very casual atmosphere, which was nice, especially for those of us that don't like to always get dressed up for dinner. Picked up takeout tonight and was just disappointed in pricing/small portion sizes. Had to pay extra for rice when a small container of panag curry was 18 dollars by itself. Noodles in another dish were underdone and all stuck together and the spices were concentrated in one area. Chicken was dry. Overall just wish it was better bang for our buck. read more

Ordered takeout and spicy. This was about the most bland Thai food I have had in a long time. The curry was basically coconut milk with a dash of chili flakes. The pad kee mao with prawns was okay. Flavor was much better than the curry but still not spicy and for a white boy from the Midwest I know what not spicy is. The food was hot and on time when we arrived. So service is on point there. We visited Rom Mai Thai for lunch today. We started with the Tom Yum soup - spot on flavor with galangal and lemongrass. Then we got the obligatory Pork and Broccoli and Cashew Chicken. I wish I had more photos, but as other Yelp reviewers can probably attest - when food arrives, the last thing on your mind is taking a picture of it! The service was super attentive. Presentation was good with lots of nice veggies. I thought the portions were sort of small, but the friend I was dining with reminded me this was a lunch portion size. My cousins recommended this place in the area. Décor was very Thai feeling. It was decent size. We ordered a few dishes and did it family style. I forgot the exact dishes we ordered. I eat Thai food so much I don't take pictures anymore of the food. There was one dish that was very memorable. It came with a coconut shell and had curry inside. It was really good and very delicious. Sticky rice was a size of your palm. Chicken pad thai was good. The price for the food is the same as Hawaii. Portions are ok, a bit expensive.
