One of the Best restaurants I have ever been to. All I can say is WOW!!! We found Basil by mistake when driving through Medfield. Our GPS took us the wrong way and we wound up on a residential street which runs parallel to Rte 27. Lo and behold, there was Basil, which seemed to be a large, converted home. Since my GF and I were hungry and often try new places, we thought we'd give it a shot. In my business, first impressions are critical and our impression of this place was that it looked clean, and well maintained, and I later found out that the owners just finished remodeling their bar/lounge (which BTW, looks very cool). The drink menu was very interesting-I had a Basiltini (spelling?) and my GF had a Truffletini. Both were delicious. Basil has an upscale feel but we felt very comfortable. They brought us fresh and warm bread at least 3 different types. The wait staff were dressed well. Definitely a first date type of place. We tried 2 appetizers-Scallops wrapped in bacon and their butternut squash ravioli. OMG! The browned sage butter for the ravioli was worth any embarrassment over licking the plate in public. The scallops & bacon were delicious and fresh. We avoided having salads at this point since the apps were large and filling. She ordered the Chicken Parmasean and I had the Shrimp, Veal and Chicken Marsala. Hands-down the best marsala I have ever tasted. She claimed that it was the best chicken parm she ever had. The marinara was wonderful. Their rating went even higher when my GF found out that they had whole wheat pasta available. Sad to say there was no room left for dessert. We did of course peek at the menu and saw some delicious thing for future reference. We finished up with coffee which was also fresh and really good. Since our initial Lewis & Clark adventure, we've been back to Basils no less than 8 times and have brought others to it as well. Their opinions run right in line with ours. Great food, prices better than I would expect for the quality and quantity and now that we've gone so many times, have come to know Tom and Karen-owners. Interestingly enough, with the volume of people they serve, they remembered us. Nice people. Nice place. Nice time. I would give it a higher then 5 rating if it allowed. Have your own Lewis & Clark adventure and give it a try. Thanks read more

Nestled in the charming town of Medfield, Massachusetts, Basil is a culinary haven that promises an unforgettable dining experience. From the moment you enter, the warm ambiance and enticing aromas welcome you, setting the stage for a delightful culinary journey. Our dining experience at Basil began with the indulgence of their coconut shrimp appetizer. Each bite was a perfect balance of crispy exterior and succulent shrimp, complemented by a tantalizing coconut flavor that left us craving more. For the main course, I opted for the chicken piccata, while my wife delighted in the chicken carbonara. Both dishes were a testament to Basil's commitment to culinary excellence. The chicken piccata was tender and flavorful, bathed in a luscious lemon butter sauce that danced on the taste buds. Meanwhile, the chicken carbonara was a creamy dream, with perfectly cooked pasta enveloped in a rich, velvety sauce and topped with Parmesan cheese. The attention to detail and quality of ingredients at Basil truly shines through in every dish. Each bite is a symphony of flavors that transports you to culinary bliss. In addition to the exceptional food, the service at Basil was impeccable. The staff was friendly, attentive, and knowledgeable, ensuring that every aspect of our dining experience was nothing short of perfection. Whether you're a local resident or passing through Medfield, Basil is a must-visit destination for lovers of American Italian cuisine. With its delectable dishes, inviting ambiance, and top-notch service, Basil is sure to leave a lasting impression and keep you coming back for more. read more

It's been a while since I dined at Basil's in Medfield. MY ABSENCE IS NOT BY CHOICE! Due to my strict (doctor mandated) diet, I had to avoid all 'temptations'. Knowing that every single thing on Basil's menu is so sublimely delicious, that I would not be able to resist - I had to stay away. Boo-hoo. However - I am planning an 'escape' from this cruel deprivation. I'll be indulging at Basil's soon. I can hardly wait to order my favorites: Portabella stuffed mushroom and Calamari Zingarella. Both are absolutely delectable. (I'm Italian; born in the North End, and love fried calamari. If it's on a menu - anywhere, anytime - I'll order it. Have had calamari in many restaurants - in the North End, on the North Shore, in New Hampshire - none come even close to Basil's!) Each time I (and family/friends) have been to Basil's we are greeted graciously and courteously - yet with a friendly 'family' feeling. Wait staff is attentive without being obtrusive. We appreciate the staff which is knowledgeable and can suggest wine pairings with menu selections. The menu is amazing. If you cannot find something on Basil's incredibly expansive menu, have your taste buds repaired. Everything is delightful. For the quantity and quality of the food, the prices are more than reasonable. This place is a hidden gem in Medfield and well worth the ride from my home in Boston. Be there soon. YUM!!! Basil is a hidden gem tucked away in downtown Medfield. I have been a customer for the last few years and I am always very impressed and happy with the varied menu, daily specials, great service and genuine hospitality. I have had many items from the Chicken Picatta, Haddock and Scallops, Homemade Raviolis, sirloin steak and many others and I am always more than satisfied. One of my favorite things to do is to call ahead a few days and preorder their baked stuffed lobster which is outstanding. I have recommended this restaurant to many friends who now all love it as well. Now I must go , heading to Basil for dinner! read more

Donna and Betty are the best bartenders any where. Not only do you receive personalized service while they're providing drinks for the entire restaurant, they're friendly, conscientious, and happy! We sat in the dining room and had such terrible service that we stopped going for a few years. When we tried it again, we decided to sit in the pub. What a delightful experience. Donna and Betty not only give you the specials, they'll customize your dish. The food is good but they make the place. If I had a restaurant, I'd hire them in a minute. read more

The service here is amazing. They treated me very well and in a quick manner. The environment was very welcoming as was the staff. I cannot complain at all. The food was impeccable. Absolutely amazing. I have never had better experience. The steak au poivre was to die for. Compliments to the chefs. If i have to give anyone a recommendation on where to go for a terrific meal, great service and accommodations, and overall a very pleasant experience, I would definitely recommend Basil to all my family, friends, and strangers. read more

Basil's is one of the best restaurants I have ever been to. Their food and menu are like a top restaurant in Boston with suburban prices. The atmosphere is cozy and every meal has been excellent. I recommend it to anyone looking for a great dining experience. Additionally the bartenders and wait staff go above and beyond to accommodate your wishes whether it's dietary restrictions or a combination that you don't see on the menu. It's by far my favorite place to have dinner! read more

We used Basil's for a last minute small catering event in our home. They answered the phone on a day they were closed, made last minute arrangements, delivered and set up the food and made everything so easy for us. The lasagna and chicken parm were delicious and generous in portion and the salad and focaccia was wonderful. I would highly recommend. Thanks Basil! read more

We eat out a lot. I hate to leave a honest review for Great restaurants like Basil in Medfield because, the better restaurants are harder to get in when you like. Bottom line, Basil has been a treasure for miles and miles. You will return and feel the way I do. read more

Tried lots of different menu items over the past couple years. Always had quality food and enjoyed my meal. I like sitting in the bar area best. Most of the tables are high top and it can get loud in there. With children I would say sit in the dining room. read more

Consistently great food and drinks at this restaurant. I feel like it's the only restaurant around. We can actually get a real drink that you pay for. The specials are excellent, and the food has been consistent for 20 years. read more

We've eaten here a few dozen times (mostly weekend nights) and never had a bad experience. The bar area by the fish tank is great for kids. I find the service to be better/faster in the bar area than in the dining room(s). read more

I love the pumpkin ravioli. The atmosphere is cozy. Generally the staff is very friendly. Occasionally we have a server who is very slow and unapologetic. This does not prevent us from eating here. read more
