Think homemade pastas, stellar service, and a large menu of traditional Italian favorites all wrapped up in a cozy neighborhood atmosphere. We stopped by for the first seating of the evening on a Saturday with a large group. There was something for everything on the craft cocktail and wine menus. Our table sampled quite a few different martinis, and it was a nice surprise that even some of the fruitier options were well balanced and not tooooo sweet. (The pear and cucumber martinis were some of our favorites). They had a ton of specials for the night in addition to the regular menu, which made picking just a few appetizers and one entree each a challenge for most of us. Even the complimentary bread basket here deserves a shoutout: the housemade cornbread and focaccia were both 10/10. A few of the favorites from our table's selections were the escargot and calamari appetizers, both the eggplant and chicken parms, and the lobster and shrimp ravioli. Lobster ravioli is one of my favorite dishes of all time, and it's all over the greater Boston area. I have to say Basil's rivals any I've had before---the lobster cream sauce is to die for, I haven't stopped thinking about it since!! Our waitress was so kind and accommodating to our groups' many questions and substitutions. Overall it was an easy 5-star experience, can't wait to come back!

Not fancy, but spacious and clean, just what you want to see in a neighborhood grill. Service: Friendly and fast. I had sat down less than 1 minute when the friendly waitress showed up and took our orders. Our food, piping hot, was delivered in about 5 minutes. Everything was in perfect order, and in about 2 minutes she came back to make sure everything was good. Exactly the kind of service I always look for.. Food: quality and price. My guest and I ordered build-your-own burgers and steak tips. I wanted my steak tips medium rare and that's how they came, exactly cooked to order. With my steak tips I got a large basket of shoestring fries which were very tasty, and a big bowl of cole slaw that was sweet and delicious. The steak tips were excellent. Perfectly seasoned and grilled. My friend's burger was big and meaty, and was filled and stacked with all kinds of goodies. We both got diet cokes, which came with free refills. Overall, if you drop by a local neighborhood pub to grab a quick dinner, you can't go wrong with this place. It's not the Capital Grill or anything. But then, prices are moderate, and you leave with your stomach full and having enjoyed a very pleasant dining experience. This place has my recommendation and I will come back for sure.

I ordered the corn chowder - great texture and soft potatoes but quite salty. We both got burgers and somehow they lacked any kind of flavor. Tater tots were hot and crispy- very good there. I don't think we'd go back but will return to Ravens Nest.

This was our first time going since it had opened as the Fireside Tavern. It is fair to say we were underwhelmed. My wife ordered a Dirty Martini and it had a lot of vermouth in it which is not the correct way to prepare it. For an appetizer we got the Calamari which was very good. Crispy and tender with delicious hot peppers added in as well. For the main courses we got the Chicken Piccata severed over Gnocchi which was good but nothing special. Gnocchi were a bit denser than we like. Our other main was the Seafood Paella. On the plus side it had a lot of seafood in it, mussels, Shrimp, Scallops and a white fish. All of the sish was cooked well and was tender and juicy. However it did not appear to be cooked in a Paella pan so you didn't get some of those bites of crispy rice and the seasoning was off it had no saffron or tomatoes like I am used to. It was more like a plain rice that they added peas, carrots, and red pepper. Just didn't taste like any form of the paella that I have eaten previously. Jenna our server was awesome and attentive but not overbearing. She was fantastic and made for an enjoyable evening.
