This was just one word: delicious !!! Thanks so much, Joe, for the wonderful service. The atmosphere was very calming, and I truly loved the music.

I work in the area and came to Sweet Basil for dinner with my coworkers. We had really excellent service and were able to make some modifications to make dishes vegetarian or change the sides that came with an entree. The food was delicious and portion sizes were large.

Such a good spot - I always and have only gotten the rosemary chicken. The pesto to start is too good.

Really great find, delicious food, huge portions. Everyone was delighted with the meal, service, atmosphere. Italian at its best.

    Overcooked ravioli

This place is an absolute joke- i had such high hopes after reading many of the reviews, but this us just an incredibly overpriced olive garden. * After asking the server what she recommended, we ordered the Caesar salad: received a salad with wilted lettuce, 8 croutons, a tiny bit of grated, bland cheese and no dressing. We asked them to take the salad and add the dressing. When we got it back, they had just added olive oil. Do they just not know what a Caesar salad dressing is? * Grilled salmon with vegetables. Asked to receive the salmon medium - rare, and received the driest piece of salmon we have ever had. * Cheese ravioli. 5 raviolis for $30 that were overcooked, and just filled with bland ricotta, served under a huge pile of marinara sauce. * Chicken Parmesan. Very thick piece of chicken, that had somehow been dried to death, and again served with so much tomato sauch, that all the breading had fallen off and become soggy. Even my kids who usually love this dish couldn't get the chicken down. It came with some pasta in a bowl on the side, served with a huge amount of that same tomato sauce. The pasta was of course overdone as well- what kind of Italian restaurant doesn't serve its pasta al dente??? At the end of the meal, our server came and asked if everything was tasty (after seeing we had left more than half of each dish). I couldn't being myself to lie, so I said no, everything was dry and overcooked. She said she was sorry and then left. Just so weird that no one would care to even learn about what was wrong with our meal.

The food was served piping hot! All four meals simultaneously. Super impressive. The people couldn't have been warmer or more welcoming. They made us feel like we were part of their family. My daughter said she thought the ambiance was very much like when we were in Italy or Spain. Charming vibe. New to the area. We will be back and BYOB Huge portions and the bread and basil are great starters.

We stopped by at this place on our way back home and this place turned out to be the best restaurant we have went to in a while!!! All of the food was amazing starting from bread with pesto, beet salad, French fries, to our dinner plates with octopus and lamb. Everything was 10/10. The lamb dish is soooooo good my fiancé still thinks about it. Everyone that works there was super nice and friendly. The whole experience was excellent. Thank you, can't wait to be back!!

Amazing food. Fabulous service. Love the warm atmosphere. While they don't serve alcohol, you can BYOB for a very small fee. Our entrees were amazing. The Pesto Pasta side is a MUST try. No dessert is served , but Abbot's Custard is a few doors down, and The Cookie Monstah (also a must try) is a 5 minute walk. There's plenty of street parking in Needham. Highly recommend! Came here and learned that it was BYOB and they have no dessert menu. They don't take reservations, but I could tell that the food was going to be good. I would describe the food as home-cooking. Artisan with bread and fresh pesto... yum. The muscles were incredible.. , chicken scallopini and sampled the rosemary chicken . All good and fresh. The atmosphere was casual yet family style. Service was friendly . The place was loud.

Pasta w chicken asparagus and some tomato. $28 I think.

Our server was attentive and friendly. There were a good amount of vegetarian options. The Brussel sprouts and ricotta honey with grilled bread were both tasty. The pastas were good sharable portions so we were able to pick a few pastas to try. The swordfish was a little salty but not too dry. On Sundays between 4p-5p they have $1 oysters.

We also got the gluten free pasta carbonara (great that they have so many gluten free options for pasta and pizza! major plus), pepperoni pizza (thin crust, very nice crunch), and a bolognese (also good, just a little salty). Also appreciated the customer service. I needed to heat up a bottle for my infant, and they went and got me a bowl of hot water. They also moved some chairs out of the way initially so that we could navigate the restaurant better, and were generally on top of service throughout the night. Really appreciated it!

Immediately seated and waiter(didn't say is name) stated they were busy today and number of items unavailable - no pizza dough(no pizzas at all), no marinated olives, no grilled bread with mussels dish, no ciabatta toast with pesto dish. We ordered drinks, and one came quickly. had to ask another wait staff for remaining drinks 10 minutes later. Ordered appetizers, then placed main order. 15 minutes go by, and I see three dishes under heating lamp. Five minutes later those three dishes and another were brought to our table. My paccheri bolangnese was cold, and prepared with spacatelli pasta - waiter neglected to state out of all pastas but spacatelli. My wife's roasted chicken was very dry(too long under heating lamp?). My son ordered the spacatelli al pesto, but he was mistakenly given spacatelli bolognese. He prefers not to eat meat. We sent that back and ten minutes later he received his correct order. The restaurant was scheduled to close at 10 PM. I can only imagine service and choices given to people with later reservation. MIDA didn't deserve one star, but that option is not offered. you MIDAwant to chose another restaurant if you expect better!

But they didn't bother to reply, so I hope this review helps someone avoid a bad experience. If you read the positive reviews on Google, I can now see that so many of them are fake. I was at Tartufo May 2026, to host a college graduation dinner for 20 people. I made the reservation a year in advance, as Tartufo was recommended on a Facebook group for parents whose kids attend this university. My experience with the staff and servers that night at Tartufo was inattentive, unprofessional, and fell well below the level of service any guest would expect. I had asked Tartufo months ahead of time if I could bring a cake for dessert and the woman answering the phone said I could and would be charged to slice it, which was fine. When I arrived early at the restaurant for the reservation. I went to the second floor where our tables were and was looked at blankly by staff--no greeting. I approached the woman who was later the server in charge of our two tables, Alexia (her name was printed on our receipt at the end of the night). I approached, greeted her, and asked if I could place the cake somewhere the graduates could see it. She simply said, "no" with no alternative solution offered other than putting the cake on the table where we'd be dining. I told her that wouldn't work as there would be no room on the table while dinner was served and we would figure it out later. Throughout the evening beverage service was virtually nonexistent. During the course of dinner, the servers did not ask guests if they wanted even a first drink--guests had to try to flag down a server to get a soda, iced tea or alcoholic drink. I had one glass of wine that night and wanted another, but staff weren't checking in on guests at all. This continued throughout the night with guests having empty glasses. Water glasses were often left empty and not refilled. As the host of a large celebration dinner, it was embarrassing to have guests repeatedly searching for staff to obtain basic beverage service. At one point, an appetizer, tuna tartar, was brought to the table. We told the server no one ordered it. Despite this, the server left this appetizer on the table, and we were charged, and paid, for something no one ordered. When the cake was served, servers did not ask any guests if they wanted coffee or tea. One guest approached a server for coffee, and it took a very long time for the coffee to arrive; we thought it had been forgotten. I asked Alexia if staff offered coffee/tea to everyone, and she said that if they ask for it then they would serve it. I consider this approach very poor customer service. Alexia was not pleasant at all during the night and answered any question curtly and flatly. As the night progressed, the staff increasingly made the diners feel that we were not welcome at the restaurant. The dining experience was embarrassing and very disappointing and I would not recommend this restaurant at all. Their staff needs training on what customer service is.
