Walked in on a week day to a moderately filled dining area. It was hot outside, so everyone went inside, instead of the out door seating area. The food was good. I liked the fried squash with their house made ricotta. The pizza came out fresh, thin dough, and was not burnt. The service was okay. The tables were a little stickier than I would have expected from a nice restaurant such as this. They never came around and asked if everything was okay. If I wanted a second drink. I had heard good things and they did not disappoint. Homemade mozzarella with peas and fava beans? How beautiful! The meatballs? Incredible. Never had any like that before. We sent it back and the manager - I think his name was Joseph, came over and was extremely rude. He said "it's not like dominos pepperoni". Really dude? The home made ricotta with honey used to be to die for - I barely tasted the honey, and ricotta was meh...and the focaccia was not like it used to be - it was flat and hard. I've had both the Rossa and Meatball pizzas, both very tasty with the home-made dough. But this place is not that. It's a way to have the most fulfilling and complete northern Italian meal without feeling like you're gonna 'take it with you' in more ways than 1. Why not get a Italian sammich (if you come at lunch) and get RUINED AGAIN by a side salad with preserved lemon rind that'll make you forget that you're in newton for a good 10 minutes. But you and I both know it's about the food and the first impression. Looking for the that mmmmm pause and reflect moment. Most Italian places offer bread, this one did not so we started w the Focaccia w olive oil, the bread was cold like it just came out of the fridge the oil had a nice flowery taste. For pies we got the recommended meatball and the mushroom. We are got the Bolognese pasta. For some reason when the pies came out it did not look promising ( u be the judge). The pies were cooked well not undercooked. Having read the good raves I was excited to reflect the same experience. Unfortunately it did not, the pies were blands and missing that xfactor. Sorry to say that nothing we ordered really stood out. I am a big fan of Neapolitan pizza - the immense chewiness of the dough, the simple, classic harmony of quality cheese married with quality tomatoes. But da LaPosta's pizzas were too wet and oily. We tried the Bianca and the Rossa. While the Bianca's combination of fig, arugula, and lardo sounded absolutely winning on paper, the execution somehow fell flat. Not enough fig jam, too much oiliness of the lardo. The Rossa also had a strange temperature contrast - hot pizza, super cold (like right out of the fridge) straciatella. We also tried the rigatoni, which was just way too al dente and salty. Pasta should not be crunchy, that's my preference. Just some more time would have really transformed the dish. The appetizers were much stronger in comparison. The summer Caesar salad, while too heavy on the dressing and oil, was enjoyable. My favorite was the house-made ricotta with orange honey (seriously, what a twist) paired with the focaccia. I thought it a little odd that they serve just ricotta on its own without any sort of sides or crackers and you have to order the bread (a not inexpensive $7) to go with it. We had a small hiccup at the beginning where we were seated, given menus and water, and then waited, and waited, and waited. I had to finally flag someone down, but it did feel like, for a few minutes there, everyone was doing their best to avoid eye contact. Very busy on a Sunday night, may have to make reservations. So today De LaPosta had a 20% pizza discount. Great, but they failed to be properly staffed for the event and its possible popularity. First of all, the pizza was delicious. I cannot take credit from what was a delicious pizza pie. That said, part of the culinary experience is the appearance, presentation. I ordered a margherita pizza with added nduja sausage. A pizza should try to make sure that every slice has all of its ingredients. All slices had tomato sauce and cheese but only 4 of my slices had basil and only 5 had the nduja sausage. My biggest complaint was not the pizza because it was delicious. The complaint is that I was quoted in writing a 45 minute pickup time. (45 minutes? That's a bit much for 2 small pizzas). It actually took 55 minutes!!! Further aggravating was seeing the pizza maker (Latin looking guy with gold chain outside his chef jacket) working at a snail's pace! Seriously, he could not care if he made one pizza an hour...so wish I had videotaped his wanton, selfish work manner! [I am Latino, I have worked in restaurants, there is no excuse for a lazy chef!]. My partner and I ordered the margherita pizza, bianca pizza, and squid ink pasta alla chitarra - TASTE: 5/5 - would come back to try more pizzas! The margherita had a great balance of mozzarella, tomato sauce, and basil. Fave parts of the bianca were the figs, of course, and the pecorino & grana padano cheeses. Finally, the mussels, tomatoes, and garlic in the squid ink pasta were excellent TEXTURE: 4/5 - the Neapolitan-style pizzas were thin and crisp w fluffy crusts PRICE: 3/5 - pizzas are $18-30 and pastas $22-28. Our total came out to $80, which was pretty steep for lunch SERVING SIZE: 4/5 - was pleasantly surprised by the number of mussels in the pasta. The food was delicious. I would describe the food as being very Roman. All right we enjoyed the Charred Octopus, and the Deep Fried Artichoke! After moving from New York, we were on a quest to find great pizza--and La Posta delivered! While we initially tried it for takeout, the charming, cozy ambiance quickly made it a new date spot. This is upscale, brick-oven pizza at its finest, perfect for a special night out. We enjoyed an icy martini, a salad, cacio e pepe, and pizza, all of which were outstanding. This may be the best Neapolitan style Pizza in Boston! It tasted it fresh, aery, and decadent. The dough was perfection come on thank, it was just the right thickness with super crispy outside and slightly soggy inside. The perfect ratio of dough to sauce to toppings made the pizza held together as I eat it, which is very hard to find for a Neapolitan style pizza. They keep the sauce super traditional with buy it just being a puréed of fresh tomatoes, which I loved. This allowed the other flavors to shine, but at the same time get a delicate burst of sweetness from the tomatoes. I was also surprised that both pizzas I had, the Capricciosa and the Margarita, we're perfectly seasoned, which is also not common for pizzas in general. Pizzas heavy on veggies are usually flat on salt, but this one was well balanced and the flavor of each ingredient came through. I added garlic to my margarita which was strong but delicate at the same time, perhaps because they crushed them into the sauce so I didn't get a huge piece of potent garlic. It's pricey but not overpriced as I feel like you get what you pay for. Known for the pizza but their Ceasar Salad is particularly incredible. I've also enjoyed their pastas and apps. While it kills me to pay $16 for an Espresso Martini it's truly one of the best around and comes with chocolate covered espresso beans on the side! Down a star simply because the service has been hit or miss. While they are always friendly they can be rather slow and at this price point I do find myself expecting a bit more. I would have been disappointed with the portion size at half the price. It was literally 5 bites of food for $30. Fresh Peas and Pecorino ($16) was probably the highlight with ample flavor, but again, it was a few bites of food for $16. Burrata and pesto ($22) was fine but tiny. Probably the smallest serving of burrata I've ever received at close to the highest price. The prosciutto was incredible. We had the clam pizza- the dough was amazing... then the oxtail gnocchi. At this point we were full & about to eat the heaviest dish of all... but it wasn't. The potato gnocchi was so light & fluffy & the sauce packed with flavor. Had to end the night with tiramisu which is honestly not my favorite dessert, but my husband loves it. This tiramisu was to die for, it changed my mind on the dessert entirely. A++ for this restaurant, we will absolutely be returning. Started taking pictures but didn't capture everything! Delicious new restaurant in the Newton area! My family was in town and we went to check out their appetizers and pizzas - all to die for. The razorback clams, fried calamari, and suppli were the perfect way to start. We don't have razorback clams in the Midwest so those were a great treat.
