Chicken parm top, and spaghetti and meatballs bottom
Rowan F.

We went to Italian American night - it was great. Delicious food, outdoor seating (although noisy next to the street and crowded), and friendly staff (although slow for a Thursday evening) - highly recommend the meatballs! Very flavorful with a nice crust. And the chicken parm was cooked perfectly

Walked in on a week day to a moderately filled dining area. It was hot outside, so everyone went inside, instead of the out door seating area. The food was good. I liked the fried squash with their house made ricotta. The pizza came out fresh, thin dough, and was not burnt. The service was okay. The tables were a little stickier than I would have expected from a nice restaurant such as this. They never came around and asked if everything was okay. If I wanted a second drink. I got the dessert menu without asking. Left still hungry and walked across the street for some more food. Other patrons looked like they were having a nice time, so maybe I am the exception.

Yummy takeout pizza

Da LaPosta has definitely grown on me! It can be a little hit or miss, but the items that hit are really amazing. As a vegetarian I appreciate that I can customize pizzas that have great flavor (like ricotta and walnut), and when cooked right, the Margherita pizza is pretty close to perfect. I'm obsessed with the roasted Brussels sprouts with Lambrusco onions in the fall/winter and delicata squash with pomegranate, sage & hazelnuts. The tiramisu is also very good.

Order the antipasto. It was great. The pizza is also good. The figs and grissini (bread sticks) were especially good. I ordered the pomodoro with sausage - the sausage and nonna's sauce were great. My wife ordered the margherita. The restaurant itself looks like a hole in the wall. It has perhaps 10 tables. But it is worth a detour (to use michelin criteria)

squid ink pasta

No wait at all when I visited. While the place is known for its pizza, the pasta is equally amazing. Had the squid ink pasta alla chitarra, and the mussels, tomatoes, and garlic were excellent. The cocktails are fantastic too! The atmosphere is a solid 5/5--clean, modern, and bright with lovely decor. The staff is super attentive and friendly as well.

So today De LaPosta had a 20% pizza discount. Great, but they failed to be properly staffed for the event and its possible popularity. First of all, the pizza was delicious. I cannot take credit from what was a delicious pizza pie. That said, part of the culinary experience is the appearance, presentation. I ordered a margherita pizza with added nduja sausage. A pizza should try to make sure that every slice has all of its ingredients. All slices had tomato sauce and cheese but only 4 of my slices had basil and only 5 had the nduja sausage. My biggest complaint was not the pizza because it was delicious. The complaint is that I was quoted in writing a 45 minute pickup time. (45 minutes? That's a bit much for 2 small pizzas). It actually took 55 minutes!!! Further aggravating was seeing the pizza maker (Latin looking guy with gold chain outside his chef jacket) working at a snail's pace! Seriously, he could not care if he made one pizza an hour...so wish I had videotaped his wanton, selfish work manner! [I am Latino, I have worked in restaurants, there is no excuse for a lazy chef!]. Secondly, to the two ladies, hostess and someone else, please don't make excuses that the delays are because your restaurant has an offer...you should have planned accordingly...but for the success of your restaurant, get rid of the lazy chef!!!

Life is short F...it up! Family, Flavor, Friends Wood fired pizza and Italian was the purpose of this evening. This place is a neighbor spot with a nice bar good ambiance attentive service. But you and I both know it's about the food and the first impression. Looking for the that mmmmm pause and reflect moment. Most Italian places offer bread, this one did not so we started w the Focaccia w olive oil, the bread was cold like it just came out of the fridge the oil had a nice flowery taste. For pies we got the recommended meatball and the mushroom. We are got the Bolognese pasta. For some reason when the pies came out it did not look promising ( u be the judge). The pies were cooked well not undercooked. Having read the good raves I was excited to reflect the same experience. Unfortunately it did not, the pies were blands and missing that xfactor. The Bolognese followed suit. Maybe I had expected too much. Overall mediocre at best.

Bianca Pizza

Sorry to say that nothing we ordered really stood out. I am a big fan of Neapolitan pizza - the immense chewiness of the dough, the simple, classic harmony of quality cheese married with quality tomatoes. But da LaPosta's pizzas were too wet and oily. We tried the Bianca and the Rossa. While the Bianca's combination of fig, arugula, and lardo sounded absolutely winning on paper, the execution somehow fell flat. Not enough fig jam, too much oiliness of the lardo. The Rossa also had a strange temperature contrast - hot pizza, super cold (like right out of the fridge) straciatella. We also tried the rigatoni, which was just way too al dente and salty. Pasta should not be crunchy, that's my preference. Just some more time would have really transformed the dish. The appetizers were much stronger in comparison. The summer Caesar salad, while too heavy on the dressing and oil, was enjoyable. My favorite was the house-made ricotta with orange honey (seriously, what a twist) paired with the focaccia. I thought it a little odd that they serve just ricotta on its own without any sort of sides or crackers and you have to order the bread (a not inexpensive $7) to go with it. We had a small hiccup at the beginning where we were seated, given menus and water, and then waited, and waited, and waited. I had to finally flag someone down, but it did feel like, for a few minutes there, everyone was doing their best to avoid eye contact. Very busy on a Sunday night, may have to make reservations. Parking lot right across the street, behind MIDA.

Squid ink pasta alla chitarra

Knew that da LaPosta won the Boston Pizza Festival and wanted to try it out! My partner and I ordered the margherita pizza, bianca pizza, and squid ink pasta alla chitarra - TASTE: 5/5 - would come back to try more pizzas! The margherita had a great balance of mozzarella, tomato sauce, and basil. Fave parts of the bianca were the figs, of course, and the pecorino & grana padano cheeses. Finally, the mussels, tomatoes, and garlic in the squid ink pasta were excellent TEXTURE: 4/5 - the Neapolitan-style pizzas were thin and crisp w fluffy crusts PRICE: 3/5 - pizzas are $18-30 and pastas $22-28. Our total came out to $80, which was pretty steep for lunch SERVING SIZE: 4/5 - was pleasantly surprised by the number of mussels in the pasta. Wish there were more figs, or a fig jam instead, on the bianca. Pizzas are 12" personal size and cut into six slices. We brought home a couple slices for later SERVICE: 4/5 - we walked in at 1pm on a Friday and a handful of tables were occupied. Our waitress gave us recommendations and, though she appeared to be the only wait staff present, did her best to be attentive ATMOSPHERE: 5/5 - clean, modern decor w lovely patio seating outside PARKING: 4/5 - I was impressed by the amount of metered street parking on Washington St in Newtonville

I really enjoyed this restaurant! We arrived on time but we had to wait a little at the bar but the service was very friendly and gracious. After 10 minutes, we were finally seated. The food was delicious. I would describe the food as being very Roman. All right we enjoyed the Charred Octopus, and the Deep Fried Artichoke! I thought the Polpette was okay and lacked a little bit of spices in the meat itself. The woodfire pizza was amazing! We had the Bagna Cauda...so good. I love the Ragu and the Buccatini pasta. The desserts were amazing too like the Panna Cotta, the Hazelnut Gelato, and the Tiramisu! I will totally come back here again!

We picked this place on a whim since we've always seen it but never stopped by. It's good!…read more Bread/olive oil was great to start-- crunchy crust, fluffy center. We also got the gluten free pasta carbonara (great that they have so many gluten free options for pasta and pizza! major plus), pepperoni pizza (thin crust, very nice crunch), and a bolognese (also good, just a little salty). Also appreciated the customer service. I needed to heat up a bottle for my infant, and they went and got me a bowl of hot water. They also moved some chairs out of the way initially so that we could navigate the restaurant better, and were generally on top of service throughout the night. Really appreciated it!

Immediately seated and waiter(didn't say is name) stated they were busy today and number of items unavailable - no pizza dough(no pizzas at all), no marinated olives, no grilled bread with mussels dish, no ciabatta toast with pesto dish. We ordered drinks, and one came quickly. had to ask another wait staff for remaining drinks 10 minutes later. Ordered appetizers, then placed main order. 15 minutes go by, and I see three dishes under heating lamp. Five minutes later those three dishes and another were brought to our table. My paccheri bolangnese was cold, and prepared with spacatelli pasta - waiter neglected to state out of all pastas but spacatelli. My wife's roasted chicken was very dry(too long under heating lamp?). My son ordered the spacatelli al pesto, but he was mistakenly given spacatelli bolognese. He prefers not to eat meat. We sent that back and ten minutes later he received his correct order. The restaurant was scheduled to close at 10 PM. I can only imagine service and choices given to people with later reservation. MIDA didn't deserve one star, but that option is not offered. you MIDAwant to chose another restaurant if you expect better!

Our…read morefirst visit was such a delicious surprise (we went on a slow Monday), that I took friends back (on a very busy Thursday). Though we had reservations, Tartufo is not going to hurry diners through their dinners and we had to wait 30 minutes past our reservation. Had we not had teenagers in tow, we would have happily waited at the bar because the restaurant is truly charming. Our appetizers and cocktails were taken off the bill as an apology for waiting, the food was delicious, and the waitstaff delightful. Though I was wary of a roaming magician (!), he was weirdly talented, understated, and everyone from ages 17 to 70 enjoyed his tricks-- he is only there on Thursdays if that isn't your thing. Definitely make a reservation for this lovely little white table Italian restaurant, be flexible if it's a busy night, and definitely order the shrimp appetizer and mussels.

One of our glasses had left over water from someone else's drink. We weren't asked for our orders until 45 minutes after being seated. There were no apologies for our table being late nor the slow service. Once we ordered the food took forever to come out. We had to rush to eat to make it to our next reservation. The food was good but never have I waited that long for food and service and not received any sort of acknowledgement from the staff or manager. I asked for a drink twice and never got it. No one seemed to be bothered by it.. For the prices and reputation as well as the delay in being sat we were all floored.

They take the crust to another level and make sure nothing goes to waste. I also had the clams and bucatini with anchovy chili butter, and it was absolutely to die for -- rich, flavorful, and one of those dishes you keep thinking about after the meal ends. The cocktails and the wine selection is great. I had the house spritz and it was refreshing and a beautiful digression from an Aperol spritz. The service was impeccable -- super personable and attentive without ever feeling over the top. And the vibe? Perfect. Great music, intimate energy, and a fun atmosphere that makes a small space feel just right. Easily one of my favorite spots in JP right now. Can't wait to come back.

However, I don't know that it lived up to the hype that I anticipated. We got the pizza Bianca with ricotta with hot honey, which was basically just like plain toasted focaccia and ricotta (wasn't anything to write home about). The taleggio was 100% our least favorite and we didn't even finish half. We had asked the waiter to describe taste profile, which they said was a "little funky" and had asked for clarification if it was closer to blue cheese. Once it arrived, it was like a verrrrrry strong/stinky Brie on the inside. The balsamic didn't really contribute to the taste at all. Sad that we didn't like this/kinda made me feel yucky after eating. The cavatelli was very good- nice light creamy sauce with the sausage and bitter broccolini. Very well balanced. Forgot to take a pic of the tiramisu but it was good, too! It's kinda salty (they add sea salt to the top). Drink menu was limited. Had two different glasses of red wine but wish they had something more full bodied on the menu!
