    A slice of the pizza
    Jay M.

Well, all I can say is that is outstanding pizza. The crust is airy or pillowy as others quoted as saying. Stopped in for first time and certainly will be back. I ordered a workhorse Pilsner draft and perfect with pizza. I ordered the three little pigs pizza and added pineapple .... Outstanding, the blend of red onions thin slivers, sausage, the quality bacon was the key, hot honey with the pineapple... a big wow . Service fast, excellent at the bar . Friendly staff...small footprint of place, but it is a well oiled machine operation. The stacks of takeout pizza boxes and orders shows this pizza is one of Newton's finest. I had another excellent Newton pizza spot, but now I need to split my pizza consumption with Jinnys and the other spot. Excellent selection of unique pizzas . The pear pizza is now on my list to try.

One of the very best pizza spots in and around Newton! The dough is amazing. It's soft and pillowy, just how I like my crust. Everything is fired in a wood oven, that you can get a full view of in the open concept kitchen. Seating is pretty limited, but in the summer there are a few outdoor tables. It's a great spot for take out as well, although parking can be a challenge at peak times. The pizza is a smaller size and runs north of $20. It's worth it, but more for the artisan pizza taste and quality. This likely isn't the place you're going to buy 10 pizzas for the SuperBowl, but if you're looking for high quality ingredients and the perfect dough, this is your spot. The available specialty pizzas are great combinations of flavors. I think they even do one with pineapple, as controversial as that is for some people. I saw the Rosso Pie online, but not on the menu when I went to dine-in. The friendly waiter was more than happy to request it for me from the kitchen. Sometimes I like a pie with no cheese on it. Difficult to find great pizza in MA, but this place fits the bill. Great pizza, great people.

I'm a big fan of this place. The calabrian street corn pizza is truly a one-of-a-kind pizza. I feel like words don't do it justice. You have to go there and try it. It's just spectacular. The cheesiness and spiciness of the toppings go amazingly well with the sweetness of the corn. However, the dough takes the prize. The dough is light, chewy, fluffy, and crispy. The Narragansett Creamery Burrata is the best burrata dish I have had. The apricot, the pesto, the bread, and the burrata just perfectly complement each other. The sweetness, the freshness, and creaminess of the dish are unmatched. Give this place a visit.

Delicious pizza in Newton! We stopped by on a Friday night to grab a bite. The restaurant is small so it doesn't have many seats. We waited about 20 minutes and got seated at the bar. The staff was very friendly throughout the whole experience. The pizza was delicious and I could easily eat a whole pie by myself! However, we shared the meatballs, brussels, and a pie. Solid spot and would definitely come again.

This is my second or third visit. It is mandatory if you are in the area! The food is bar none. They set the bar so high for pizza it's just unattainable- NYC, LA, Chicago or Detroit cannot even compete. The service is excellent. They treat everyone like a neighbor. I ordered the basic pepperoni sausage olives feeling that was enough. Then my kids ordered a caramelized pear red onion pizza that just blew my mind. That pizza was the first to go! This spot never disappoints. Oh and the specialty drinks are the best! The prices are very fair and you will leave very satisfied times 3! I forgot to get a photo of the faro salad! Wow

I love the variety on Jinny's menu! There are so many unique and delicious pies, making it so hard to choose. We had the sausage pie with tomato sauce, house-made italian sausage, broccoli rabe, ricotta, and fennel. The crispiness was just perfect and I absolutely loved it, but was hoping for a bit more fennel flavor. We also had the Whipped Burrata pistachio, mint, english peas, and house-made focaccia which was super unique. I can't wait to return to Jinny's and try more!

Solid wood-fired pies, we ordered the McL'Oven and the Fennel and Feta. Both were good, the crust was tasty and a bit chewy, kissed with just enough fire, but it was a softer crumb than I was expecting, not very crunchy. I thought the flavors on the Fennel and Feta was very good, the fennel is caramelized and goes great with the feta, oregano and red sauce, it was just a bit light on toppings overall. The whipped burrata was good, topped with some spring flavors with peas, pistachios, and mint. Probably didn't need to order this, but we couldn't say no to more cheese. Washed it all down with a cold pilsner. Service was decent, but ambiance was challenging. The space is very small. There is usually quite a big line for pick up. Acoustically, it was very difficult to hear my friend across the table. The pizza was definitely good, but I'd want to eat outside next time if possible so I don't have to yell across the table to be heard. Getting a table is tricky, as this place clearly very popular.

Salad was sublime, broccoli & red pepper fantastic

Incredible menu. We had two appetizers that blew our minds, the pizza was out of this world, no wonder there's a line out the door! There are many pizza shops in the area, but there's only one Jinny's!

    Prosciutto provolone spiedini with honey!!!

So good. Service is awesome. Caesar-maybe the best I've had in years. The spiedini!!! So good and unexpectedly flavorful with the honey. And the pizza and dipping sauces are all outstanding! Lastly, staff attentive, kind and no muss, no fuss Place is tiny though so brace yourselves to be on top of table next to you.

Life is Short. F....it up! Family, Flavor, Friends When googling best food this place popped up. I thought how could that be, read the raves online. For those who knows me I'm always looking for that pause moment yummm WTF is in my mouth and can it be this good. Maybe I was in the zone. Maybe it was the combination off the weather and the rotation off there earth. Whatever it was this wood fired 3 day aged dough was it. Jinnys was a small place very cozy the center piece was the oven. There staff were friendly and made the time to chat about the place and made you feel welcome. In the outfront kitchen they all worked in Harmony together making small miracle every 5min. We got there Mcl 'oven and the Mushroom. The Mcl came very balanced in its flavor classic ingredients that just worked. I picked off ones off the Roni to taste and u knew it was special. The mushroom it deceiving for its simple name. From the 1st ..I had that moment ( see above). Sorry let me try and walk you thru it. You know how when you eat something first it with you eyes, nose comes next for the aroma. Then the mouth feeling the texture then the tongue drives ...then swallow. This time the nose kicked in during there tongue..there was a effervescence that was prob the combo or the arugula and porcini oil. This my friend is what separates very good to OMFG. Oh and what puts it over the top was the North end oil for dipping the already good chewy crisp soft crust. This place doesn't want to give the taste buds a chance.

This place is a gem. We just got back from Italy two weeks ago and the one time we had pizza there...didn't hold a candle to the pizza we had tonight at Jinny's. I love how fluffy and soft the dough is, and all of the pizzas on the menu are so thoughtfully designed. So many fresh, delicious ingredients. The standout of the evening was the service we received from Matt, our server. We had a little one with us, and Matt was so patient and brought our some baked pizza dough for him. We ordered the chicken meatballs, the squash pizza and the corn pizza. It was the perfect balance of light and heavy, and we cannot wait to come back to try some of the other pies on the menu. Thank you Jinny's!

I decided to give it a try since it was only nine minutes away from where I was. When I walked in my child and I were immediately sat, and my child was provided a kids menu. They have the option of take out too! We got a couple appetizers to try & each got a different ramen. Here's what we ordered: APPETIZERS - chicken karaage - okonomiyaki-styled tater tots - green papaya salad RAMEN - miso ramen - spicy miso ramen - chef's ultra ramen - spicy tan tan ramen Thoughts: I thought the appetizer portions were pretty generous! A lot more than we were all expecting. I was pretty much already full before the ramens came out. Wasn't a big fan of the green papaya salad. It was missing some flavor. We all thought that it would be better if it had some tomatoes & garlic. Didn't seem like they used a mortar to ground the aromatics or anything, since the sauce just tasted like fish sauce and lime. The chicken karaage was okay. Wish there was more sauce to dip the chicken with. Chicken was also on the drier side. The tater tots were the best appetizer of the three we ordered, IMO. If you like takoyaki balls, you'll like this because it has similar sauces + bonito flakes. Ours needed some salt though. As for the ramens, I personally had the spicy miso ramen. It was missing a lot of depth in the broth that I would've liked to see (& taste). I didn't taste any miso to be honest. Salt was needed too. The highlights for the ramen were the chashu & corn. I loved that they used fresh corn! The chashu had the perfect amount of fattiness & almost melted in my mouth. The noodles were nice and chewy. The broth was just disappointing though. For the other ramens, everyone enjoyed the one they ordered. I tried a little of the chef's ultra ramen & the broth was much better than my spicy miso. Btw, the spicy miso ramen is not spicy at all for anyone who is hesitant & cannot do overly spicy foods. The food was a bit disappointing for me. I came in with high expectations with all the good reviews I read beforehand. Not terrible but not great.

Come here for a social event? Perhaps? Expecting reasonable service is unlikely to be realized. The…read moreservice was poor and the minimal food I had access to was fair at best. I attended an event being held at this restaurant and was surprised and disappointed in the restaurant. The networking event itself is not being reviewed here. So where to start... accessing the restaurant was a bit of a nightmare. The garage (parking is $4-24) was the only place to park and the elevators were out of order and the garage was dimly lit. It was frankly not safe. The driveways were partially blocked for construction which I had to navigate around as a pedestrian. This is not realistically accessible for those who have mobility limitations (the temporary attempts at ramps are not usable with a wheelchair). I was given beverage menus after arrival. They were extremely hard to read as the lighting was turned down. I did manage to read it when I put the menu directly under a pendant. The beer and wine selections looked interesting! I was looking for something non-alcoholic and there was no water readily available nor offered. There were a few (maybe 4) mocktails on the menu-they looked interesting so I got one that resembled a mule (ginger beer based). I ordered one so I wouldn't be empty handed as I talked with people, especially at a networking event. The server gave it to me and made a point of saying "here is your mocktail" (which itself is not unreasonable; referring it by its name or "beverage" is much more appropriate in those circumstances as the drink type and alcohol content or lack thereof is not anyone else's business). The food menu never appeared. The appetizers that were left out for the group were picked over and unappetizing. Cold fried calamari that has been sitting out? No thanks. A cheese and cracker board with no crackers and no serving implements? No thanks. There were two flatbreads there-I had a small square of each and these were ok. About 15 minutes before the event was scheduled to end the server asked me if I wanted another mocktail. I responded with an affirmative. I assumed he had canceled the order as the event ended. As I was getting ready to leave when the event ended (I had my jacket on at that point and he had validated my parking!), he brings over the mocktail and says "here is your mocktail" and sets it on the high top table where it just sat as I left for home. I have no idea if he charged the hosts for the beverage. I left hungry. I left a bit thirsty. I left surprisingly frustrated at the restaurant. When I arrived home, I made myself dinner. Fortunately, I enjoyed meeting new people as the event itself was interesting.

Bonus points for an extravagantly laminated menu that has pictures of every single dish rendered in uber-colorful detail. We got the: papaya salad with shrimp; chicken satay; crab fried rice; pad thai; and mango sticky rice. More than enough food to feed two people, including a little bit for leftovers the next day. The crab fried rice - please, please get this. I'm usually not a fried rice person, as my parents taught me long ago that rice is just filler and must be avoided at all costs at the buffet line, but their crab fried rice is stellar. Loaded with generous chunks of real crab and so flavorful, with the smokiness of the wok permeating through. I also usually skip the pad thai at any Thai restaurant but I loved this rendition, beautiful balance of sweet and salty, and with all the necessary accoutrements, like chopped peanuts and a squeeze of lime. I would say the chicken satay is maybe a skip but it comes with an incredible peanut sauce that I love to slather on top of everything. Mango sticky rice: eh, it's not the season for mango. The one that came with ours was definitely a bit anemic and limp. The warm sticky rice covered in condensed milk with the faintest tinge of pandan green was good enough to eat on its own. They're really busy so not the best place to sit and talk with your friends all evening. Also not a lot of street parking on a busy street. I suggest walking or taking the bus over. As an extra touch, Chef Steve came out to our table to chat and describe a few of the dishes, which made the experience feel personal. Food highlights: * Firecracker tofu - perfectly fried cubes tossed in a hot-sweet Korean-style sauce; addictive. * Grilled broccoli - smoky, well-seasoned * Butternut squash soup - smooth and flavorful, elevated by roasted, ground squash seeds and a subtle curry note. * Polenta with short ribs - rich and balanced. * Smoked bluefish pâté - excellent texture though a little salty for my taste. Drinks: * Also Fancy - bright and fruity, but not overly sweet. * St. Peter's Bay - think mezcal meets Old Fashioned. * Bonus points: I asked for a custom gin gimlet, and the bartender delivered a fresh, mint-forward version that was amazing. Tall Order is a great neighborhood spot that's doing everything right. We'll absolutely be back.
