Clam appetizer (special)

This hidden gem tucked away in Medfield is a favorite of my in laws, so I had high expectations for my first visit, and it 100% lived up to the hype!! Think homemade pastas, stellar service, and a large menu of traditional Italian favorites all wrapped up in a cozy neighborhood atmosphere. We stopped by for the first seating of the evening on a Saturday with a large group. There was something for everything on the craft cocktail and wine menus. Our table sampled quite a few different martinis, and it was a nice surprise that even some of the fruitier options were well balanced and not tooooo sweet. (The pear and cucumber martinis were some of our favorites). They had a ton of specials for the night in addition to the regular menu, which made picking just a few appetizers and one entree each a challenge for most of us. Even the complimentary bread basket here deserves a shoutout: the housemade cornbread and focaccia were both 10/10. A few of the favorites from our table's selections were the escargot and calamari appetizers, both the eggplant and chicken parms, and the lobster and shrimp ravioli. Lobster ravioli is one of my favorite dishes of all time, and it's all over the greater Boston area. I have to say Basil's rivals any I've had before---the lobster cream sauce is to die for, I haven't stopped thinking about it since!! Our waitress was so kind and accommodating to our groups' many questions and substitutions. Overall it was an easy 5-star experience, can't wait to come back!

This is the hidden gem of the Metrowest area! Beth our waitress was amazing and had great recommendations as well as great service. The portions were big and the quality of the food was unreal!!! We got there earlier to avoid the rush, which we recommend or call and make a reservation. I'm so sad I just found this place, but excited to go back and try a new dish because everything looked so good!! We got the swordfish special and chicken broccoli ziti... both fresh and delicious and would get again!

Desserts

Always fantastic specials! Definitely worth the price. The atmosphere is a bit loud but makes it feel lively even during covid times.

We started with the Brussels sprouts that were roasted and we all loved them and finished it. My local friends said they are better than Fireside which fries the Brussels. Bread cold and not worth the calories. I had the bowl with salmon and it was excellent. One friend had the beet and kale salad with an excellent feta cheese and salmon on top. The other friend had the tuna special of the day. Creative cocktails good with the proper ice cube. Highly recommend!

We have three kids and don't get out much, so when we finally get a night out together, we really look forward to it. Unfortunately, this was a big disappointment. I ordered the cod, which was literally a piece of fish sitting on top of a few potatoes, some summer squash, another vegetable, and a few cranberries that really didn't belong on the plate. The biggest thing missing was flavor. The entire dish was bland and lacked taste. My wife ordered the steak with house fries. I'm not sure how you mess up French fries, but they managed to serve them undercooked. The steak came with some green sauce that was just OK, nothing special. The beer situation was frustrating right from the start. It was Halloween night, and they didn't have a pumpkin beer or really any fall beer available, despite having them listed on the menu. My wife asked for three different beers, one after another, and all three were unavailable. Why have them on the menu if you don't carry them? We were seated in the very back section of the restaurant not a great overall feeling, and even the little things were disappointing. Our water was served without ice, and I actually had to ask for some. This isn't Europe. We generally like ice in our water. Our waiter seemed completely uninterested in us and brought very little personality or enthusiasm to the table. Ironically, the staff member who kept our water filled was probably the best part of the service. What makes this even more disappointing is the price. I don't mind paying good money for a great meal and experience, but this was nowhere close to being worth what we spent. We really wanted to like this place and had been excited to finally try it. Unfortunately, between the bland food, undercooked fries, unavailable beers, lackluster service, and high prices, it was a disappointing night out. Two stars, and that's being generous.

Service was really great. We got the tacos and the Lewis burger - everything came out quick (but not too quick!). The tacos were huge, 3 come to an order and I struggled to finish that last one. My husband loved his burger. Its not a fancy place, but its a great place to get some decent food, a drink and relax with family or friends. We will certainly be back.

Service was great and food came out fast as well. We got the Cup and Quahog to start and the chowder had a really good peppery flavor. Then two of us got the steak tips with mac&cheese, asparagus and mashed potatoes. I loved the chives/green onions in the mashed and the asparagus was good. The mac&cheese was super dry, and the steak tips were a bit chewy, I would get them medium rare next time. We also got the normal burger and the Bacon blue burger and both were really great! Such a good char flavor, but the fries were definitely overcooked and plain. My only complaint was that our starters (cup and quahog) came out at the same time as the rest of the food, we would have preferred it first! Overall loved it all & will definitely be back!

One of us tried the braised beef and wild mushroom ravioli--it was a new dish for us and absolutely excellent. I ordered the seafood paella, which was just okay, but the rest of the meal more than made up for it. For drinks, we ordered glasses of Prosecco, Merlot, and Cabernet. All three were very good, and we would definitely get them again. What made our dinner even more special was our server, Kendra. She was friendly, knowledgeable, and provided excellent service that made our night. We can't wait to come back!

This was our first time going since it had opened as the Fireside Tavern. It is fair to say we were underwhelmed. My wife ordered a Dirty Martini and it had a lot of vermouth in it which is not the correct way to prepare it. For an appetizer we got the Calamari which was very good. Crispy and tender with delicious hot peppers added in as well. For the main courses we got the Chicken Piccata severed over Gnocchi which was good but nothing special. Gnocchi were a bit denser than we like. Our other main was the Seafood Paella. On the plus side it had a lot of seafood in it, mussels, Shrimp, Scallops and a white fish. All of the sish was cooked well and was tender and juicy. However it did not appear to be cooked in a Paella pan so you didn't get some of those bites of crispy rice and the seasoning was off it had no saffron or tomatoes like I am used to. It was more like a plain rice that they added peas, carrots, and red pepper. Just didn't taste like any form of the paella that I have eaten previously. Jenna our server was awesome and attentive but not overbearing. She was fantastic and made for an enjoyable evening.
