Been going to Basil for awhile now and today I was very disappointed with my meal. The noodles can clumped together like they had been sitting out for a long time, the beef was dry, and the soup didn't have the same smell. I normally get the special normally it has a nice smell of almost the bone marrow of the beef and it is very pleasing. But today it tasted like every other Pho restaurant. This is now our go-to place for Vietnamese food. My husband usually orders Chicken Pho while I absolutely love the grilled pork vermicelli. The service is always great, the prices are fantastic and the food is freaking delicious. Even with dining-in shutdown because of COVID-19, you can still order take-out. Went here and decided to try it out. First off there are young adults running it. They never brought us the drinks we ordered or 1 of the 2 appetizers we ordered, so we had to ask them to get it for us. They checked on us twice during the 70 mins we were there. The pho was bland, the egg rolls tasted bland. The spring rolls were decent. The Bun Thit Nuong was good and fish sauce was good. We also ordered Banh Mi sandwiches to go which were preheated bread. The chicken was so thin you can't even taste it and the veggies were sparse. The sand which had parsley not cilantro which should have been made right!! I'm Vietnamese I know these things! If you want authentic food- go elsewhere. Just my two cents. Good iced coffee and spring rolls is all you will get that is good here. read more

I was craving for banh mi and this was the nearest place I found. The atmosphere was great and welcoming. They seemed pretty busy so I thought I would give it a try. They only had a few options of banh mi but I went with the classic bbq pork. I was expecting a more authentic banh mi with pate but I got a more Americanized version. This is hands down my favorite pho place! It's on the cheaper side, yet the portions are great. My husband and I thought because of the price that we would have to both get a pho and a noodle bowl to share to be full...to our delight and surprise we were so wrong! The portions are just right, with food left over for me. The staff was so friendly and the place was spotless, not like some other pho places I've been to where the food is great but you overlook the service or the cleanliness of the place because of it. Basil has been my favorite pho restaurant since they opened. After today's experience, I may not go back. Even ordering from UberEats is iffy in my mind now. We were seated and given water, and after waiting over 5 minutes for straws we had to ask another employee. We ordered "today's special" which was Bah MI lettuce wraps for $5.95 to go with our entrees. I like that the ingredients were on a plate, for us to assemble, but the lettuce they gave us to make wraps were torn, and tiny... No "lettuce wrapping" was possible. The staff was so inattentive that it took a while to get someone to look at the pieces we were given. I asked an employee if we could just get bigger pieces, and he said yes. He brought huge pieces, that were wilted and loaded with brown spots. I asked to speak with a manager and the employee directed me to a girl that was eating, and said she was a shift supervisor. So I had her look at the weird pieces of lettuce and her response was that it's really more of a salad. I've never heard of a "wrap" being anything other than... a wrap. I also don't know what kind of salad has a ton of meat and four pieces of lettuce. She said she's not a manager so there was nothing she could do, and left it at that. 5 minutes later she came back and said she can take it off the bill and take the plate away. I appreciated that we didn't have to spend $6 on tiny torn pieces of healthy lettuce, or big pieces of brown lettuce, but it was not handled well, no one seemed to have pride in what they were serving, and not one employee had a sense of urgency to check on any of the costumers. probably one of the best beef pho noodle bowls I've had in a while. They were very nice attentive brought me water and bowl of soup quickly. SO SO SO GOOD!!!!! I've been going to the same Vietnamese/pho restaurant for over 10 years, but after trying Basil I don't think I can go back to that same place. First of all the staff's friendliness is on point. They made sure that everything was perfect by checking on us but not too often making it seem clingy. They really are genuine and try their best to make our experience here the best. Basil restaurant has a very neat and well kept interior and has the vibe of a hip downtown bistro. The broth of the pho was was amazing!!! The pho broth tasted so fresh, clean, and refreshing. The portions are HUGE at such a good price. Also, the vermicelli bowls are BOMB!! The noodle to meat to veggie ratio was spot on and none of the vegetables had any hint of browning or oldness and were all fresh and crunchy and perfectly pickled. I will 100% be coming back (possibly every single day) and will definitely be sending all my friends and family to this spot. BASIL YOU GUYS ARE A1. Just moved to this area and my fiancé and I left behind our pho shops we were regulars at. So it was definitely hard trying a new place and hoping for true authentic quality, but this place does not disappoint! My fiancé is Vietnamese so we know what good quality pho tastes like and Basil has done a great job and is soooo yummy with rich flavor! This is my first ever yelp review... this place was so good that I had to leave a review for the world to see. I ate their grilled chicken vermicelli bowl and it was amazing . If I lived closer to Everett I would definitely be a regular but I live a few hours away and was just visiting the city for the day. This place is so good, the food tasted so fresh, there's a cute quote on the wall, and the place overall is aesthetically pleasing.
