Not nearly as good as it used to be. Portion sizes have gone down and prices have gone up. I ordered the #3 pho which includes eye round steak and meatballs. I got 5 slices of steak (2 were way too thick and wouldn't cook), and literally ONE meatball cut in half (and it tasted freezer burnt). The broth is still very flavorful like it has been in the past but it was lukewarm at best, definitely not hot enough to cook the meat at all. Not many noodles either. My husband's was the same way. Disclaimer: This was a takeout order and we were told 15 minutes for pickup. I know it won't be as hot as it would be in the restaurant but we live literally 2 minutes away and there was no way the broth would've cooled down that much in such a short amount of. We've received warm broth in the past but never this bad. I don't know if we'll be back. We might give them one more try but it could be time to find a new pho restaurant. read more

In short There's nothing neighborhood-y about this intersection, but PTL is a solid neighborhood joint doing everything just right, if not anything completely amazing that I discovered. In long The confluence of Casino, Evergreen, and the Boeing Freeway must see tens of thousands of vehicles a day, at least, just counting the ones traveling by ground. It's busy here, and maybe not the most highly-regarded motorway in southern Snohomish County. But this is a big, bustling strip mall with what seems like a dozen good places to eat, alongside some high-interest loan places and other less-inspiring tenants. But there's tons of parking and PTL is more than worth at least one visit. Inside there are a couple dozen tables, with big stencils of colored spaces and different-color names of dishes in Vietnamese on the side wall. They have a couple good-sized flatscreens up. One of them has big club-size speakers mounted on either side of it. Curious what motivates them to turn on the one with the bumpin' sound. I'm also curious why this is now the second place in a month that chose to switch to Faux News within minutes of my arrival. ESPN was fine! Do I really look like a red-stater? Cracking me up with this. I might need to check my wardrobe if it happens again...3 times is a pattern, and I haven't even been going out all that much. Anyway, the service is lovely, right on point with quick, clear answers and rapid table visits. Kitchen turnaround is fast too! Jasmine tea arrived in the Dreaded Silver Pot, but I still happily drank half of it. Pho shows up with jalapenos, basil, lime, and sprouts. No cilantro, no big deal. Sriracha on the table but no sambal or other pasts. The basil was fresh and fragrant, everything else was crisp, juicy, and so on. The broth is kinda dark, with clear dots of marrow/fat floating here and there. Pretty rich, not too crazy with big seasonings but the flavor's solid for sure. Noodles could have been a little chewier but not bad. The meat was all seemingly never-frozen, no wrinkles showing. The large was like $13 and a heck of a bargain at that--good size. This is why you come to places on Casino; their real estate costs are somewhat lower and there's a good chance your bill will be as well. I was out the door with big tip for $20. It was nice catching this place between rushes this afternoon and just taking it all in. I'll definitely come back if the time and place line up. read more

I bet it's been a decade since this was in my rotation. I think there used to be a Keg next door? I grabbed a few friends and made a pho date. It was very quiet when we walked in. But the staff memorized all our orders and we were on our way. Richly colored broth meant tasty broth and we all threw down. One of my friends ate a bahn mi AND a bowl of pho! Whatever we had--all delicious! BBH is on point and hearty. Portions are filling! The aroma from the spices is refreshing and soothing to my palate. Love the soups! The combo beef pho is also very delicious! They are very generous with the veggies toppings that go with soups, they have extra sauces on the side like chili oil, soy sauce, black pepper, hoisin, and even fish sauce. How about that!? Service is very good and friendly. It's very clean too! Ambiance was nice and comfortable. Whatever was cooking in the back, made us feel like we were in Vietnam. I am Vietnamese and I can tell the food here are neither authentic nor good. I ordered one Pho and one broken rice. If consider these are fusion, they were still the worst Vietnamese food I have every tried. Pho soup was so bland, like they put lots of water and not many spices. They gave me old bean sprouts that has been spoiled. Broken rice (Cm tấm): the rice was the normal rice but they barely put any water to cook to mimic broken rice. It was dry to choke. The pork chop was not marinated enough and thin slice. The egg cake (chả trứng) was so bland and burn. The fish sauce wasnt salty at all. I dont recommend this place. The Vietnamese food was even worse than homemade. read more

Its been over a decade since I've been here. Even though work moves around on me and I was back up north, I completely forgot about it. So I tried to show some love to a small business that brought back memories. It was pretty quiet when I walked in for lunch. It made me glad that I had a few friends joining me. Three stars for pho. It was good enough to hit the spot since I was in the area. I also had a side of egg rolls which was OK. The Thai tea with boba was definitely a missed. The Thai tea tasted like a powdered flavored drink and the bobas were lumpy and lumped together. Anyone who drinks and loves boba knows that's not how it's suppose to be. What I received was very oily, no spice, extra salty brisket, and %80 noodles, not one thing about my soup was satisfying. Had their bunbohue only. Quite different to flavors of other, had a much more herby taste to it. However the portions were quite large and the service was not bad at all. I had a horrible expirence as a first time customer. When I walked in I should have left as several tables in the empty restaurant still had used dishes and uneaten food on them. However, I was hungry and in a hurry to get to my son's baseball game so I ordered the chicken pho to go. When I got to the baseball fields and started to prepare my pho I noticted that a couple pieces of chicken had mold on them. I then started to look at all the chicken and several pieces were moldy and not suitable for human consumption. I called to express myself to the owner who claimed it was fine and what I was seeing is only cartilage. If I was not at my sons game I would go back and tell him how his ignorance is going to get someone or perhaps several people sick. ...instead I plan to contact the Wa State Board of Health. Ordered to go. Bánh mì was just ok. The veggies weren't pickled (!!!) and there was very little egg cream (no pate that I could see or taste). Meat was ok and bread was good. Also had the combo chow mien... for $12.99, I expected more meat or prawns (there were 2 little ones). They also dumped so much black pepper on the top that I couldn't eat it. My father, who loves black pepper wouldn't eat more than a few bites either. I wont be returning and my hunt for good Bánh mì up north continues... read more

We were hungry, it was cold & rainy, and Pho definitely fit the bill. Pho To Liem is located in a busy strip mall among other random yet diverse businesses (chiropractor, subway, nail salon, donuts, Mexican, Russian, gyros, Money tree, etc.). I've passed by this pho place plenty of times over the years and was so glad I finally was able to try it. And I wasn't expecting much either... But I was pleasantly surprised by the quality broth and cuts in meats. I usually ordered the specialty combo that comes with all, and I mean ALL of the trimmings. The goi cuon (fresh salad spring rolls) were fresh, proportionate, and delicious as was the peanut dipping sauce. Also, this Pho place isn't all about noodles, but they have a variety of other Vietnamese dishes on the menu that I am excited to soon try. Service was fast, friendly, and very efficient. I was really hungry for some Pho yesterday, and this is one of three Pho joints that is close by where I live. The interior of the shop is really clean, sparsely but tastefully decorated, with a big television blaring the news. I sat with my back to the TV. The menu was typical- different Pho, spring/egg rolls, and grilled meat and rice dishes, along with some Chinese chow mein and fried rice for good measure. I didn't notice bun on the menu. Prices were very competetive. I ordered a small rare beef round Pho. And this is a case of so many Pho joints that I have visited, not knowing what to expect size-wise. This was a TRUE small Pho. Small bowl, small amount of fresh- not so rare might I add- meat and noodles. The sprouts and basil weren't the freshest but they were passable. I killed it off in 12 minutes, and didn't feel super full like I do off a small at other spots. The broth was too salty for my liking. I have come to realize that the broth is what makes it or breaks it when it comes to good Pho for me. I like my broth to be light and not have a lot of saline quality so that I can add in the hoisin sauce for flavoring and saltiness. The service was quick and very friendly. I would say this is my least favorite of the three spots around me, but if you live or work in the immediate neighborhood it is still worth stopping by for typical Pho. read more

So, I was conversing w/ a co-worker who's vietnamese and I told her I had bo kho for lunch and it seemed like it was just carrots n potatoes w/ a splash of beef. She lol'd and told me that another coworker said that this place has delicious bo kho ... but she has never verified it. Being it was Friday, wet and chilly out, i decided to try this restaurant in a 'ghetto' area. It is right off the freeway, on a very busy street with a handful of different ethnic stores/restaurant. (Leaving the plaza is a terrible due to the poor design of the dated plaza ... most likely it didn't have stop lights there initially then the built fred meyers. I walked in the restaurant and it was dead at 6:15 p.m on a friday ... I was a little scared. Usually a dead restaurant means terrible food or high crime that deters people (I have seen crack heads running across the highway half nekkid once before, down the street) It was the typical pho restaurant, supplies placed in the corner .. atleast they had a partition screen to help hide it :) and they had 3 t.v.s playing sports! The bo kho arrived w/ toasted bread (delicious bread) and side of herbs, the usual. I noticed that there wasn't any carrots or potatoes, just beef tendons, beef shank and another type. The bowl was small but the portions of beef were, dare I say it, almost too much! After 30 min. I felt my stomach drop due to the amount of beef I ate, it was equivalent to 14-16 oz. ribeye but w/ broth and the bread that expanded my gut... I was full 'til 1am. Really looked forward to trying this place, but had such a bad experience here, and I will never return. First, I got my bowl of hot soup spilled all over my clothes by the waitress. My silk blouse, my skirt, and my sweater were all drenched. I burnt my hand and my knee. I understand it was an accident, but they did not offer to take even a penny off of my bill!!! UNHEARD OF! A halfway decent restaurant would have comped at least MY meal, and a very good one would have comped the whole thing. They charged the entire bill here. Second, they brought our appetizers AFTER they brought our soup. Third, I was never brought the beverage I ordered until I finally had to ask for it LONG after I had ordered it, even though my husband and our guest got theirs right away. I will stick with Pho Mai further north on Evergreen from now on. They are awesome. read more

I ate there..like thousand times ! The food is super tasty and prices are good. Small bowl of soup for $6 and large for about $7.50. The fried rice... bomb !!!
