wonton soup! yum! highly recommended
Rita W.

back to my old haunts. i had forgotten how good the soups are at Pho On 44th (previously known as Pho 99). on a cold, blustery tuesday lunchtime on 11/29 - mere hours before the BIG snow dump - every table was filled with folk who wanted a nice hot bowl of soup. it doesn't matter where the soup originates: borscht, french onion, kartetofflesuppe, tomato soup, minestrone ; soup is good for the soul. but for me, asian noodle soups are my comfort foods. bun bo hue: although the pork blood is missing, it is still one of the most flavorfully assertive bun bo hues i've had. wonton soup with greens: i was completely surprised at the quality of this soup orderd by my lunch companion. i had never ordered it in all the times i've come to Pho On 44th! delightful light broth loaded with large wontons stuffed with pork. this soup is now my list of favorites here. while enjoying the comfort of the hot soups, i was reminded of my other favorites: banh cahn cua, bun rieu, banh xeo, and the duck noodle soup that i will have to enjoy again. i pledge to return Pho On 44th to my lunch rotation. highly recommended

Tiny tiny shrimp in the combo fried rice. For reference this is a baby sized spoon!

We've been long time customers of this place and it seems to be under new ownership. Prices are very high now. $28.99 for the crab noodle soup. Each entree was at least $17.99. The shrimp in our combo fried rice was incredibly tiny!! The server could barely understand us. The restaurant itself is very dirty and poorly maintained. We spent almost $100 including tax and tip for 3 people. We won't be back

Delicious pho! I came to Pho 44 after hiking Wallace Falls. It was (sort of) on the way home and my friend recommended it. Let me just tell you... Pho SLAPS after a hike and when it's a rather moderate day in regards to weather. How is it possible that it tasted even better than normal? We may never know. I went with my usual, the brisket pho. I went with a large, because I was staaarving after not eating at all on the hike. The pho came piping hot and quickly - just how I like it! The cuts of meat were great and not fatty at all. The broth was perfectly salted and not sweet, which is usually not my preferred both. I'm all about the savory, full-bodied flavor. That was the one thing that this pho was lacking, though. The broth didn't taste as rich and flavorful as I've had other places, but it was still really good. I definitely am not in the area a lot, but I guess the next time I am, I know where to go for pho!

OMG - some of the best Asian food I have ever had. What a delightful find! The menu is extensive and everything we had was superb. This will be a new favorite anytime I am anywhere nearby. Easy to get to from the hideous big box restaurants at Alderwood. SKIP PF Yuk's and come here instead. Super friendly and accommodating owners as well!

I enjoy coming here. Foods are so good and very comforting. My favorite is the one with beef and meatballs and, with egg noodles. It's always flavorful and satisfying. The one and only server is the owner and she's very kind and attentive. I like that. The spring rolls is mostly ordered along with ice coffee. It's very clean too! I keep returning for more. I like this place so much that I am lost for words!

After sitting in awful traffic on the way home from Seattle on a Sunday (I got stuck in Husky traffic), I wanted something quick and on the way home. There's a couple of pho spots on this route home, and I opted to stop at Pho 44 for take out. I ordered: - 2 large beef and meatball phos - under $20 I waited a little longer than expected, but nothing to complain about. When I brought it home, I thought the portion sizes were large. The food container contained the noodles, bean sprouts, basil leaves, jalapeno peppers, raw onions, cilantro, lime, and a hoison Sriracha sauce. Then the soup came in a large plastic one time use container. Cody and I both enjoyed the pho. I thought the broth tasted good too. I would stop by here again for take out!

Char V9. Char-broiled Chicken with fried rice instead of white rice. Half eaten cause I was hungry before taking the picture.

Great Pho and if you're not into pho there are plenty of other options too. I always get the Char Broiled Chicken but I ask them to use fried rice instead of white rice. It's so good. Service is great but you might have to wait just a little longer for food because they have a small kitchen. Well worth the wait though.

For the entrees, we ordered the garlic fried rice, crispy pork belly, tofu phad thai, and crispy garlic chicken. Everything came out hot and fresh. The fried rice is good, the crispy pork belly is a tempura batter. The crispy garlic chicken is drenched in a sweet sauce and the tofu phad Thai was on the sweeter side.

I've been aware of the Seattle location because of the cute name, like mountain bao, but never visited. Lynnwood (Mill Creek) area is a bit more convenient, so decided to stop by. Kind service, mainly taking orders and dropping off food, but was pleasant. Green Beans - solid green beans! No meat but stir fried well. A bit pricey but a solid shareable portion. I'd love a version with some meat but I can appreciate being vegetarian friendly. Pan Fried Pork Bao - sadly no soup in this pan fried bao. I think there was too much bread because everything was very doughy while the actual pork was tiny in comparison. If there was more meat then maybe the extra large dough would be okay. On the bright side I guess this is a filling item with the carbs. Xiaolongbao - Unfortunately, 2 out of 8 XLB were ripped and the soup spilled in the steamer. Those ones were extremely sad and disappointing. However, even the remaining 6 XLB didn't have that much soup. I would skip the XLB here which sucks because the place literally has bao in the name. Shu Mai - tasty, hearty, comfy, and satisfies the craving perfectly. Large and scrumptious, as delicious as any dim sum spot. Highly recommend because I was shocked, not expecting much.

I love everything; perhaps the octopus could be cooked a little longer to tenderize more. I love the crunchiness from it, and the crunchiness from the black mushroom too. Maybe the chef can find a way to achieve just enough tenderness while still being crunchy, which would be perfect. Another thing, my bowl looks burned on the edges. Kudos to all staff! They can accommodate big groups, as they had 2 different large groups at the same time, but those took up a lot of tables because the restaurant isn't that spacious. The combos are a good option if you have people to share with and/or multiple people are hungry. The portions are enough for more than one meal, and the prices reflect that. We ordered boiled dumplings and the friends combo A with jajung, jjamppong, and tangsuyuk (M). The bowls of jajung and jjamppong are huge, but I didn't notice any meat in the jajung. The jajung was basically noodles, brown sauce, and onions. It was tasty, but disappointing that it looked and tasted vegetarian. The jjamppong was tasty because it was garlicky and slightly spicy. I was surprised to see the boiled dumplings were basically tiny wontons in clear broth. They need to update their menu description because I was expecting dry and regular sized dumplings. The tangsuyuk was very crispy, and I'm glad they served the goopy sauce separately.

JangAn puts diners in the driver's seat, meaning that seasoning your soup is up to you and your own preferences. Inside was rather functional and we were seated right away that lunch hour. Menu contained a good variety of fried and soup noodle dishes. The fried noodles were also served with a side of broth. I originally wanted wonton soup but deviated at the last minute to try their Dan Dan noodles. My daughter got the beef noodle and wonton soup that she liked. My Dan dan noodles was served with the same soup noodles and topped with a saucy ground pork and veggies. The pork packed a good amount of heat that I liked and enough to coat all the noodles. I personally preferred a thicker noodle but overall a good dish. The same lady who seated us took the order, served us, refilled our waters, rang up the sale and cleaned up afterwards. I'd come back here again.

I should have guessed things aren't quite right, when the staff struggled to answer my simple question that any normal wonton shop would have understood. The interior is basic and quiet. During our time dining, only one other diner arrived. The Food: Wonton and Beef Brisket Noodle Soup, $14 - 3.5 Stars The beef briskets are reasonably tender. The wontons are acceptable with pork and shrimp fillings. The egg noodles are legit. Soup (or Spicy) Dumplings Noodle Soup, $14 - 2 Stars The Chinese name on the menu calls this Original Soup Sui Gow Noodle. This is a genuine and very good noodle soup at other places. Theirs is not it. The broth is not "original soup", which is a fish-based broth. Theirs is meat-ish, but not meaty and certainly not fish-based broth. It tasted off and weird. The dumplings are not sui gow. They are glorified larger wontons with pork and shrimp. A sui gow typically has Chinese black mushrooms and/or woodear fungus for a varying texture in the bite. The one authentic ingredient of this dish is the egg noodles. Garlic Chicken Wings, 6pc, $12 - 4 Stars These are good - crispy on the outside, tender on the inside. Not too garlicky but still good. This dish rescued this meal. Lettuce Fish Meat Soup, $12.50 - 1 Star This dish is normally a popular HK street food dish. This dish is not that. The fish pieces lacked flavor and seasonings. The broth, again, is not fish-based but the same meat-ish flavor, same as the dumplings noodle soup. I wish I never ordered this.
