YGF Malatang in Edmonds shares a strip mall parking lot north of 99 Ranch. Very convenient! I've only had shabu shabu back in college. To date I've never experienced hot pot or malatang until this particular opportunity (12/22/25). I was really excited to truly savor something new on this blustery day. I noticed how bright and clean the interior was, including all the serving stations. The counter staff were welcoming and helpful, especially towards this novice. Upon entering, start with a clean bowl and tongs. Select your preferred ingredients from the assorted noodles, fresh vegies, mushrooms, tofu, wide variety of proteins like sliced beef, sliced lamb, fish/shrimp balls, fish cakes, fish, seafood, and shellfish. Proceed to the main counter to have your individual bowl(s) weighed. Select your broth of choice and spice level. Both of us chose the beef bone broth (me w/half star, The Homie had one star spice levels, respectively). Each finished bowl is very generous, easily two servings. I ate my fill and still had a full takeout container to bring home. Very flavorful and satisfying meal! It was also a great treat to start the meal with orange wedges and end the meal with fresh milk soft serve in a cone. We both agreed that this is a worthy addition to the lunch/dinner rotation. Convenient location in Edmonds with its proximity to home and free parking in the shared lot. This is also accessible via Metro Rapid Ride E to Shoreline/Aurora Village Transit Center and then Community Transit Blue Line adjacent on Hwy 99. Highly recommended for a satisfying, hearty meal!

Honestly it's a little scary how much I'm obsessed with this place. I'm increasing my spice intake gradually with every visit, so right now I'm at a 3 but will work to a 4. The service is great as well. You don't need to ask for much because it's pretty much self serve except for when you pay, but they are often friendly and welcoming. Of course I am still hoping they will eventually expand- it gets super busy here!

Love the idea of "shopping " for ingredients for your own meal. There are a lot choices, proteins, vegetables to make your own soup. Picking your choice of broth also is exciting. You can get carried away and not realizing the weight of your choices. But it's really a cool idea. The soup comes out really hot in a reasonable amount of time. The taste of my Tom Yum was good. My wife enjoyed hers, as well and my son loved his curry. The service is quick and efficient. They're also helpful in showing diners how to navigate the ordering. Those girls that work there are very good and speedy. I just wished they had put a bit more of an effort in the restaurant design. The place looks more like a cafeteria than a restaurant. It's not as an enticing restaurant, and It wouldn't draw me in if I happened to walk by. But the food is good enough and the place is clean.

My wife and I are honestly regulars here at this point, we show all our friends this spot and it's nice to have more hot pot options north of Seattle. You can easily have plenty of leftovers to make as much as 2 more meals after for only $20-30 depending how much you load up your bowl. Concept is simple like other hot pot spots opening up, you fill up a bowl with the ingredients. It gets weighed, and then you tell them what broth you want, and you pick it up after a short wait when they mix it all together for you. My favorite is the beef bone broth at level 3 spicy (not too spicy but enough to make you feel alive). Lots of great ingredients, the sliced lamb is delicious but even the beef and pork belly are great too. Plenty of options for the classic staples including vegetables, mushrooms, noodle types (including potato noodles), various meat/fish balls, and even some uncommon ones I don't see often like pig ear. If you're dining in, they give you a small plate for a cut of seasonal fruit and an ice cream cone. The staff is very friendly every time we come here and they deserve continued success with their business. Thank you YGG Malatang!

The food I chose to eat with their soup base of beef bone broth!!

I really recommend this place. The only reason why I didn't give it 5 total stars is because the music in there (while nice music) is too loud but that's not a big deal. Sometimes the music is more loud so folks don't eavesdrop on each other. Lol. OUTSIDE of that, the food was absolutely delicious! I got the beef bone broth with 2 stars of spicy. It was super yummy! You walk around to a salad bar set up of noodles, vegetables, meats and more good goodies -- make your own soup contents aka The Solid Stuff. Once they weigh it; they are the ones who add the piping hot, soup base/broth. It was a rainy day so perfect soup weather. How can U go wrong ? You're picking what you want for your meal -- they just add the liquid soup to it. You're in charge of your tummy's pleasure and food destiny. Very good broth! Next time I might try the curry soup. You can create your own dipping sauces as well. The lady was very friendly, helpful and efficient. I liked her. In other Asian places sometimes the service is either lacking or abrupt. She was great. Other benefits? ?? Good parking situation! We were there like 1:15pm; no big crowds but all the tables were full up with happy customers! Bathroom was very clean and smelled nice. You're nearby other places you can shop at as well. Great, Central location. Please go eat at YGF! You will have zero regrets! Bon appetite!

A great comforting meal in which you pick your favorites. I love that this is a pay per weight sort of place where you can get exactly what you want (the only danger is if you are not used to this type of place, your bowl can be too big and too pricey). When you come in, there are bowls and tongs for you to grab meats, veggies, noodles, etc. There's actually a pretty good variety for how small this place is and everything is very neat. I will say, if you have particular food allergies/intolerances, there may be a chance of cross contamination since each person uses the same tongs for all different containers, just something to keep in mind. You then pick your broth and they make it fresh for you. They have really delicious broth (we tried two types last time and ended up getting the same ones I believe this time, the tom yum and the beef broth). The beef broth is really rich and very good. You can make your own sauce while you wait and most things are self serve including water. You also get a slice of watermelon for dessert and there's a mini cone machine if you feel like going up and asking at the end! Each time, our total came out to around $45-50 (including tax and tip) though we aren't big eaters and are somewhat conscientious in what we pick which is super reasonable. (Of note, the last time we came, our friends loaded up and one bowl ended up being $80 and the other bowl ended up being $40 alone for them!) This will become a go to staple for us.

LOVE this place that I ate here once a week for a month. You walk in, grab your bowl and start to add things that you want to include in your noodles. Lots is selection (noodles, veggies, meat, seafood.

This is my new favorite spot when I'm craving something soupy. I love their rich beef bone broth and the wide selection of vegetables, meats, noodles, and sauce bar! I prefer this over Boiling Point because you can choose exactly what toppings you want in your broth, but I must say that Boiling Point's curry broth is better. The staff is super friendly and even gave us watermelon and ice cream at the end, which was such a sweet way to wrap up the meal. Definitely recommend if you're looking for a quick and satisfying soup fix!

YGF keeps getting better each time I visit! The selections of food to choose from are so much bigger now, as well as the broth options! I stuck with my favorite, the tom yum. My friend got the curry broth since we had never seen it, and it was surprisingly tasty! Staff is always so nice and they even brought us orange slices.

Wow this place is so good! Worth the hype in my opinion. This location has ample parking and seating - you go in, grab your bowl, and grab whatever toppings you want; at the end you weigh the bowl and select how you want it to be made. I opted for the level 3 beef bone broth, if you like spice I think it's the perfect kick and not too spicy. The beef bone broth is super flavorful without it being too salty. My husband has gotten both the tomato broth and curry broth (good for those who want a non-spicy option). He enjoyed the tomato broth more than the curry broth. He loves curry and said the curry broth wasn't super flavorful (prefers the curry broth at boiling point for a point of context). My husband and I each got our own bowl and total cost ended up being ~ $50 including tip, which I would say is very reasonable. You can even take the soup home afterwards if you don't finish (for hotpot round 2).

I've been a YGF fan since my time in China and have visited their locations in Bellevue and the U-District, so I was very excited when they opened a new spot up north! The facility was clean and spacious, and the staff were friendly and efficient. They also offered free fruit, which was a nice touch. The ingredients were fresh. I'll definitely come back again for their delicious malatang! Parking was easy thanks to the parking lot.

I've seen YGF in U district but tried this location in Edmonds when running errands. I came at an off hour where there was only one table. It's a cool spot where you grab whatever you want, pick the broth, and then have it hot and ready. There's also a sauce station for dipping. Although it's great to have it right as it comes out, my dish was still delicious togo.

I don't want to give four stars, but it's really unfair to the employees and those dining when an establishment is really understaffed. The food was five stars. This is the second Malatang I have tried. The food was great! Unfortunately, they were severely understaffed. One person, restocking, busing tables, weighing food, and at the register etc. She was working hard, but poor lady was spread thin. I love the concept and the selection is great. I have tried their spicy Malatang, curry and beef bone broth. All very different and flavorful. The plain beef was honestly surprising how tasty it was. Everything at the self-serve bar looked fresh (or frozen). Very easy to create a massive bowl of soup

Even after mentioning multiple times that the menu was confusing, no one stepped in to help. We were given one water jug for a group of seven with no refills. Several items were incorrect or missing, including shrimp we ordered but never received--possibly due to a system or app issue. Drink orders were also wrong (lychee instead of passionfruit), and although refills were supposed to be included, no one ever checked on us. We ended up having to walk up ourselves multiple times to get any service. The only time staff came to the table was to drop off food. To top it off, there's a mandatory service charge, which feels excessive given the level of service (which was none)--especially in Seattle where employees already earn a $20+/hour minimum wage. Don't go here if you want service, come here if you want precut meat that you cook yourself, because that's pretty much what you get, after one smoothie refill, you'll just get watered down flavored ice. There are better hot pot restaurants elsewhere,.. go there. 2 STARS, only because the cuts of meat weren't horrible, vegetarian options were good, and portions were decent. But never returning to this establishment again, the service just SUCKS!

We arrived around 5PM on a Wednesday and there was no wait, but the restaurant began to be busy an hour later. There is compact parking in front of the restaurant, but more spots available to the side of the lot. We ordered: Soft Tofu Stew - I love the kimchi they serve. Their kimchi is a little more spicy and pungent than what other restaurants serve, but that is exactly how it should be. Yukgaejang - A hearty and nourishing soup. Plenty of broth, beef, and leafy vegetables to even take home afterwards (you can see with the depth of the bowl). LA Kalbi & Pork Belly - Generous portions for the price. LA Kalbi was the favorite for the night, but pork bely was also just as good. Served on a hot platter it was nice that the meats remained warm even towards the end of meal. Tteok-Bokki - So so much. Wish there was more cheese added, but that is only because I have a low spice tolerance lol. We had plenty to take home afterwards so it's still a win. Items are on the pricier side, but great value considering the quality and how much is offered. Their kimchi is my favorite and honestly nothing compares to it.

One of them walked over and very casually threw out a "last call," without explaining how many minutes were left or checking whether we wanted to order anything else. Everyone at our table was caught off guard. It felt like we were being rushed to finish and pushed out, which made things really awkward and gave us a sense of being treated differently from other guests. If the goal was to manage the floor or control timing, the very least they could've done was explain it clearly: something like "You have X minutes left for last orders" or "We close at X time," instead of dropping one vague line and walking away, leaving guests to guess what's going on. When guests feel respected and in a good mood, we naturally order more and tip better. But when the attitude is poor and we feel rushed, it doesn't matter that the extra money isn't going directly into those servers' pockets - it just makes people not want to come back at all.
