This is the place I have been most excited about coming to my area in recent years. I'd been curious about its other locations for a long time, but never actually made it in to check it out. Definitely a great thing to come out of the fire that destroyed the previous buildings at this location. The strip mall is still adding businesses, but usually parking is fairly easy, turning in and out of it from Hwy 99 may have its challenges. I will warn you that although this food is delicious, it is pay by weight so do be aware of this when you go in. You get your own bowl and tongs to go thru the line and choice exactly what you want in your meal. So many noodle, veggie and tofu options, but also a huge area devoted to meat. I will also say to skip the cilantro as that can be added after in the free sauce area (this is such a great bonus on it's own). There any many meal options to choose from. My fav is the Tom Yum, but I have also had the Tomato and keep meaning to try the dry noodles. My partner often thinks he wants the spicy, but this is extra spicy so do order that cautiously. After filling your bowl you go to the counter where they weigh your food and enter in what style you want. Unlike other hot pot places, you do not cook this yourself, they cook it in the back and then call your number when it is ready to be grabbed and brought to your table. This can be a tremendous amount of food and it's messy, so don't wear your best clothes if you are a messy eater like me. They are happy to let you pack up your leftovers, which are delicious later and make me feel better about how much I am spending. We do sometimes worry that we will not be able to get a seat, but so far we have not had to wait to sit down. They do bring you orange slices and you can get soft serve for after your meal. However, a lot of things were mislabeled so you don't really have clarity on what you're actually getting. I grabbed what I thought was "beef" but ended up being lamb. I hate lamb. I even asked the cashier upon paying, is this beef (should have trusted my gut) and she told me yes. How can I tell it's lamb? For one, the distinct smell and two, the taste. It's overwhelming for someone who did not grow up eating it. I could not finish my meal. I scooped out the meat and ate as much as I could but truly, what a waste of money. To date I've never experienced hot pot or malatang until this particular opportunity (12/22/25). I was really excited to truly savor something new on this blustery day. I noticed how bright and clean the interior was, including all the serving stations. The counter staff were welcoming and helpful, especially towards this novice. Upon entering, start with a clean bowl and tongs. Select your preferred ingredients from the assorted noodles, fresh vegies, mushrooms, tofu, wide variety of proteins like sliced beef, sliced lamb, fish/shrimp balls, fish cakes, fish, seafood, and shellfish. Proceed to the main counter to have your individual bowl(s) weighed. Select your broth of choice and spice level. Both of us chose the beef bone broth (me w/half star, The Homie had one star spice levels, respectively). Each finished bowl is very generous, easily two servings. I ate my fill and still had a full takeout container to bring home. Very flavorful and satisfying meal! It was also a great treat to start the meal with orange wedges and end the meal with fresh milk soft serve in a cone. We both agreed that this is a worthy addition to the lunch/dinner rotation. Love the idea of "shopping " for ingredients for your own meal. There are a lot choices, proteins, vegetables to make your own soup. Picking your choice of broth also is exciting. You can get carried away and not realizing the weight of your choices. But it's really a cool idea. The soup comes out really hot in a reasonable amount of time. The taste of my Tom Yum was good. My wife enjoyed hers, as well and my son loved his curry. The service is quick and efficient. They're also helpful in showing diners how to navigate the ordering. My wife and I are honestly regulars here at this point, we show all our friends this spot and it's nice to have more hot pot options north of Seattle. You can easily have plenty of leftovers to make as much as 2 more meals after for only $20-30 depending how much you load up your bowl. Concept is simple like other hot pot spots opening up, you fill up a bowl with the ingredients. It gets weighed, and then you tell them what broth you want, and you pick it up after a short wait when they mix it all together for you. My favorite is the beef bone broth at level 3 spicy (not too spicy but enough to make you feel alive). Lots of great ingredients, the sliced lamb is delicious but even the beef and pork belly are great too. Plenty of options for the classic staples including vegetables, mushrooms, noodle types (including potato noodles), various meat/fish balls, and even some uncommon ones I don't see often like pig ear. If you're dining in, they give you a small plate for a cut of seasonal fruit and an ice cream cone. We were thinking of this place to eat for a family dinner. First we called to make reservations for 7 people, and they said they don't take reservations. That was fine with us. So that day we walked in it was fine in there and there was a table able to fit 7 people. So we ASKED the lady working if we could sit here for 7 people even if 2 people weren't here yet (they were coming). The lady said go ahead! The only thing was some people had to get food first and place an order. So a few of my family members got the bowls and put the food they want in, as she asked only some people had to get food and place the order, which we did. But more came in AFTER we were already sitting at the table. When another lady saw this crowd she said none of us could sit there, even though we were already in the process getting food, saying that we had to give it to the other people who were coming in. EVEN though the lady said WE COULD! Poor communication first of all and they were very disrespectful. So we decided to not eat anymore because of the poor service they gave to us. As we were leaving we saw the lady taking the bowls my family members had food in, PUTTING THE FOOD BACK! Not only did they put the food back, they also put the bowls and tongs back! A great comforting meal in which you pick your favorites. I love that this is a pay per weight sort of place where you can get exactly what you want (the only danger is if you are not used to this type of place, your bowl can be too big and too pricey). When you come in, there are bowls and tongs for you to grab meats, veggies, noodles, etc. There's actually a pretty good variety for how small this place is and everything is very neat. I will say, if you have particular food allergies/intolerances, there may be a chance of cross contamination since each person uses the same tongs for all different containers, just something to keep in mind. You then pick your broth and they make it fresh for you. They have really delicious broth (we tried two types last time and ended up getting the same ones I believe this time, the tom yum and the beef broth). The beef broth is really rich and very good. You can make your own sauce while you wait and most things are self serve including water. You also get a slice of watermelon for dessert and there's a mini cone machine if you feel like going up and asking at the end! Each time, our total came out to around $45-50 (including tax and tip) though we aren't big eaters and are somewhat conscientious in what we pick which is super reasonable. This is my new favorite spot when I'm craving something soupy. I love their rich beef bone broth and the wide selection of vegetables, meats, noodles, and sauce bar! I prefer this over Boiling Point because you can choose exactly what toppings you want in your broth, but I must say that Boiling Point's curry broth is better. The staff is super friendly and even gave us watermelon and ice cream at the end, which was such a sweet way to wrap up the meal. This location has ample parking and seating - you go in, grab your bowl, and grab whatever toppings you want; at the end you weigh the bowl and select how you want it to be made. I opted for the level 3 beef bone broth, if you like spice I think it's the perfect kick and not too spicy. The beef bone broth is super flavorful without it being too salty. My husband has gotten both the tomato broth and curry broth (good for those who want a non-spicy option). He enjoyed the tomato broth more than the curry broth. He loves curry and said the curry broth wasn't super flavorful (prefers the curry broth at boiling point for a point of context). My husband and I each got our own bowl and total cost ended up being ~ $50 including tip, which I would say is very reasonable. Very interesting concept which I haven't seen before. A weigh by the pound personal hot pot place? SIGN ME UP. Not really much of a decor or ambiance. YGF Malatang is in a little strip mall where Wonton Noodle House used to be. The setup is fascinating. You grab a big bowl, fill it up with an assortment of meats, noodles, veggies - then you bring it up to the counter, they weigh it, you tell them what broth you want, and they get cooking. In about 5 minutes your number gets called out and your bowl of goodies are good to go to eat. When I first looked at the area where the food is, I thought there wouldn't be much selection. However once you step in to that area set up like a small buffet spot, you'll see a wide variety of food to pick and throw in to your bowl. My first time being here, you best believe I wanted to add everything so BE CAREFUL, your bowl will fill up real fast. I chose the curry broth. Not thick at all, which is good, but very flavorful. Was looking forward to YGF opening up north for the longest time and of course went the moment I heard they were open for business. That being said, I did go during soft opening and am aware that they are still figuring some things out before the grand opening. I will probably go again in the future and see if anything has changed from now. The taste of the soup is the same as the other YGF locations in Washington. The ingredient bar is kept very tidy and changed frequently. The quality of the items is good and fresh. I did notice they have a few less items than the Southcenter location. Not sure if they will have more things in the future or if they are limited in the space. The sauce bar noticeably had fewer options to choose from to make your own sauce, so I was disappointed in that aspect. The counter to make your sauce is pretty small so I am not sure how they will expand this (or if they will). The only thing that was a little bit of an issue when I dined there is the queue to get a table if you are dining in. If you are waiting for a table, you are supposed to wait in a line next to the one for the cashier. This was really unclear and many people were confused (including myself). It would be nice if there was one of those separaters and signs pointing to which line was for what. read more

Busy for a good reason, as YGF Malatang has already captivated a HUGE fan base that now has access to a North Seattle Location. The food bars are clean, neat, and the ingredients look fresh as always. If you have never tried hotpot or Malatang before, you will be in a great surprise of how quality the ingredients are and how it will satisfy any noodle soup cravings and fixings. This location is on the smaller side, smaller than their South Center location and MUCH smaller than their Bellevue/Crossroads location. The bar flow for collecting ingredients through the tongs in your bowl needs to be revamped. I came right before the dinner rush around 4:20 pm and as I am leaving at 5:10 pm it is PACKED. This one is located in the Plum Tree Plaza that once burned down. There's ample parking especially while new shops are slowly rolling in. YGF is a build your own malatang shop, pay by weight and pick a broth. Still $14.99 per pound at this time. There is no Lucky Cube yogurt or drinks, that's just in Bellevue for now. Two all gender restrooms inside. No OG fish ball with roe, unfortunately, but all other favorites were available. For those unfamiliar, you walk in, grab a clean plastic bowl and tongs. Then you're free to fill your bowl up with any raw items. Everything is the same price except for the abalone which is clearly labelled. Afterwards, head towards the cashier to weigh your bowl, select from one of their broths (or stir mix), and pay. If it gets crowded, the staff is pretty good at cleaning tables and seating the earliest paying party, as we saw people try to snag a spot before self serving and they were discouraged from doing so. I've been to this YGF three times since they opened a couple months ago and this is my new favorite malatang restaurant in the area. The service is so helpful and nice. If I request something to be refilled they do it promptly. It's busy, but somehow there is always somewhere to sit. They have a good sauce bar and so many broth/mix flavors and for the same price of 14.99. I always get the 4 star beef bone broth. My spice tolerance is really good so I I find it enjoyable. They give free fruit for your meal (oranges and melons) Their to go containers are very nice and they even let you take sauce home too. We are die-hard hot pot fanatics, basically soup cultists, so trying a new spot always feels like a pilgrimage. This place had us at "self-serve" and "choose your own broth adventure." I mean, who doesn't want to feel like a broth barista? Pricing was totally fair if you know how to portion control... which I clearly do not. Somehow I ended up with 2 pounds of mostly vegetables. This is one of my absolute favorite spots for a meal. I could eat here every single day of the week (if I could afford it) because every bowl can be different and customized to exactly what I want. You basically get a giant bowl and a set of tongs and fill your bowl with whatever your heart desires. You then go to the counter where they weigh your bowl and you select your soup. I pretty much always get the beef broth but the chicken and tom yum are both delicious as well. The price isn't cheap at $15.99 a lb and it can easily be a $30 bowl if you aren't careful but I usually end up with about a $24 bowl. You also get a piece of fruit to start with and a mini soft serve at the end so it does make for a kind of 3 course experience. It's almost always busy but the wait is generally about 15 minutes from the time you give your bowl to the counter to when they call your number. If you are looking for a hot pot experience that you can completely customize, this is the place. read more
