The food was good. I was in the mood for pho after a 16 mile obstacle course race and Pho Happy Noodles was nearby. When I arrived late afternoon, it was nearly empty, so I was seated quickly. I ordered the Bun Bo Hue (spicy beef noodle soup) and it had beef brisket, beef tendon and Vietnamese ham. It was a generous serving and delicious. After being served my meal, it took a while for me to flag down the waitress for a water refill, even after I got her attention. My family has been coming here for years and I've been meaning to write a review for ages. Finally getting around to it. We came here tonight because it was my 9 year old son's top choice for his birthday dinner. They graciously allowed us to bring cake from home & also supplied us with cake plates/forks/serving ware, which was not expected, but appreciated. Prior to and including tonight's birthday dinner, we have always received exceptional service. They have an AWESOME simple, yet flavorful, broth that is sure to delight. My husband and I have always avoided Pho delivery, because it just does not tend to keep well even after a short period out of the kitchen. you really want Pho suuuper fresh. We were really hankering for some Pho recently and decided to try delivery from Pho Mai (happy pho) despite reservations. Dropped in and ordered a banh mi, egg rolls and a bubble tea on a weekend day. The place was not busy. After getting the food home (a 20 min drive), it looks as though they forgot to toast the bread, leaving the roll uncharacteristically spongy and without that crisp exterior I've come to expect. Veggies and meat were fresh and tasty, but the sandwich could have used more pickled veggies. The egg rolls were reasonably crisp, but a little lacking in flavor. Mango Bubble tea flavor was clearly from powder and really quite thick .. more like a smoothie, but the boba were satisfyingly chewy and plentiful. I ordered 2 sandwiches, 1 spicy pork and 1 regular pork. The bread was soft and probably the best I've had yet but the spicy pork sandwich contained more fat than meat. It was almost inedible. The egg rolls are small but the taste is okay. Bubble tea was delicious. They taped our straws inside our napkins for sanitary reasons ( I assume) but then we couldn't peel the tape off. I love pho and I try pho everywhere I travel to. It's just a thing I do. The first couple times I came to Seattle, I had pho in a couple places. It left me very unsatisfied and I figured Seattle just has bad pho. Not a big deal since I don't live in the Seattle area. This most recent trip, I was craving pho again because of the cold weather. My friend suggested this restaurant and I'm so happy he did. Easy to find and they share a private lot with other businesses. Totally won me over from the last few horrible pho experiences in Seattle. Bonus is this restaurant was clean! I ordered their extra large combination pho with rare meat on the side. The portions here are generous! They even accommodated my request for extra onions in my broth. Most places charge extra so this was a huge plus! Customer service was very good and I felt like I was family there. One unique thing is their meatballs. The slices were huge! Very different from other pho restaurants I've been to. Pho Mai Noodles was a great place to get Pho, however there has been an owner change and it is now called "Happy Pho" or something similar. It is NOT as good a Pho Mai was. In fact, they are now one of the worst places to get pho in the area. Super disappointed to see Pho Mai close. read more

I met with colleagues at this restaurant because they highly recommended it. They love it. We all ordered different varieties of pho, and for the table we had some shared appetizers including chicken wings and fresh rolls with peanut sauce. It was interesting how no one actually finished their pho. I am certainly used to always finishing mine for the most part but I left half of this bowl uneaten, and so did they. That in itself is telling of how it was just not that good. Also, I was left with my mouth feeling overly saturated with salt for a few hours after leaving the restaurant. I live in Marysville and would drive to Everett when I wanted pho despite the fact that there are pho places close to my home. The broth isn't very good anymore. My friend ordered veggie pho with extra tofu. They gave her 6 pieces of tofu! How is that extra! That's less than half of what pho Mai gave in a regular order. Going to find a new place. I've been driving past this place for years but I have to drive by several places that make soup that I really love to get to them. Oddly, most of my favorite noodle joints are apparently closed on Tuesdays for some unknown reason. It was a Tuesday and my family was craving noodles so thus, Pho Mai's time finally came. On the upside, their spring rolls were some of the best I've had. They were very fresh and tasty. I would probably drop in just to get an order of those. Their Banh Mi was also pretty good BUT, they didn't have half as much meat on them as my favorite Banh Mi maker, Yummy Deli, which is about five miles closer to me and has prices that are 35-40% lower for a product that it just as tasty and much larger. Finally, we come to the Pho. In the greater Seattle area, Pho and Chinese food share a key distinction. There a LOT of options and most of them suck. This one didn't suck but it was not as good as my usual places. The flavors seemed muted and the meat was a little slimy tasting. My kids liked it fine but they're young, addicted to pho and lacking in experience. In my 15 year-old's world, that old saying about pizza is her reality. To her there's no such thing as bad pho. I, on the other hand, have had a lot of pho where the broth tasted like under-flavored dirt-water and the meat was super tough and chewy so I'm a bit more discerning. Tonight I picked up pho and the noodles were stuck together in a hard mass, the soup was rather bland and the tendon one big hard chunk. The price also went up quite a bit since last time and tonight's debit says "HAPPY PHO 261846 5129 EVERGREEN WAY EVERETT" not PHO MAI NOODLE. Four stars for making my favorite Vietnamese soup, Bun Bo Hue. This alone makes them stand out in a sea of Pho restaurants. Bun Bo Hue is the only dish I've tried. I live in Everett and I've been to Pasteur's, Pho Hung, and a few other places and #1..by looks itself Pho Mai Noodles is by far the cleanest place. #2..the food is so much better. My favorite here is the Thur-Sun special. The Bun Bo Hue (spicy beef noodle) I usually have to drive to Seattle to get some good Bun Bo Hue or wait for my mom to make it for me. #C4 (broken rice combo plate) is a favorite of my husband's and he can clean his plate up and still want another plate after finishing. I came here in May with a group of people and we let the restaurant know the day before our arrival. Upon our arrival they had the table ready for us and had extra help on hand. They were able to split our checks and were very attentive to our guest. Because of the great food and service we got a couple of my friends have come back on their own and some actually frequent Pho Mai noodles weekly.
