I absolutely hate leaving bad reviews and if you check my history you can see it almost never happens. Good food but left most of it uneaten. I observed a staff member sneezing, blowing her nose, not washing her hands, and immediately grabbing takeout containers for another table. This is pretty unacceptable given all the info out there right now about trying to prevent the spread of illness, and really should be common hygiene even if we weren't having this info blasted at us from everywhere. This place has gone seriously downhill. :( The previous owner named it after his wife and it had tasty broth...the basis for any good ph. He'd be sad to see what it's become. I could barely stand the smell of it this time and got maybe 1/3 through it and couldn't bring myself to eat any more. The chicken wings were worse than what you'd get at a gas station and the banh mi bread was stale. So disappointed, and we love ph. There are way better bowls in Everett. read more

I have been to this pho place a few times. Today was the last. I took a friend there to have a bowl of soup and spring rolls. I do not eat meat with feet so I ordered the veggie pho w/veggie broth and the spring rolls (which come with shrimp as protein). Our food came and there was beef inside the spring rolls. The menu did not list beef as an ingredient in the rolls, so I asked the waitress if I could get them without the beef. She looked at me odd when I told her it isn't listed on the menu, then walked away. The rolls never came back. I continued eating my soup which I am 100% certain had beef broth. When we were 3/4 through our food I figured I'd ask for the spring rolls so I could at least take them home since I ordered them. I hailed as she walked past, asked if I could please have the order of spring rolls. She brought them and I took them home. When I got home I took one out to eat and saw something brown inside the rice wrapper, opened it up and there were tiny pieces of beef that had apparently stuck to the wrapper when they took the beef out. THEY DIDN'T EVEN REMAKE IT, THEY JUST OPENED IT, TOOK OUT THE BEEF AND RE-WRAPPED IT! I understand I am going to a beef noodle soup restaurant, but if you're not going to accommodate veggie meals, DON'T PUT THEM ON YOUR MENU!!!! read more

I drive up to the building and it looks abandoned. The sign is half down, the shades are all drawn. I was wondering what the heck was going on. I see the open sign on, so I go in. I see two new women and I'm like where the heck is my usual guy? I see a new menu on the counter and I don't see what I order anywhere on there. I used to get the pork skewers. SO GOOD. Such a reasonable price. I ask her where it is and she says it's under new ownership and they don't have some things that the old owners had. I was beyond disappointed. The new place is called Happy Pho by the way. I told her that I recommend they add it to the menu again. She said she'd tell her manager. She didn't write it down or anything, so I imagine she's just appeasing me. Yesterday my boss went there, also unaware. She said she asked for a bahn mi and the girl acted like she was weird for calling it what it is. The lady said, "No one calls it that." How rude. Color me bummed. read more

Went in to order a simple lunch to go - a small beef pho, and a small chicken pho. First was told that the pile of menus I was looking at on the counter in front of me weren't actually their menus, then was told they don't have beef pho. Really? Disappointing, but whatever. Ordered two chicken, and paid for them. Only then was I told they were short-staffed, and it'd be a 20 minute wait. 30 minutes later (after watching people who'd ordered after me walk away with their food and having to listen to the guy boss around everyone in the kitchen), they bring out ONE order of pho. I tell them I ordered and paid for two, and the guy points to his hand-written order and tells me I only ordered one. I had to tell him I paid $16 before he decided to believe me and package up one more order. Sadly, I left in a pissed-off hurry before I realize he still stiffed me - there were no bean sprouts, basil or lime for the second order. Not even chopsticks for the second soup. Soup tasted ok, nothing special. Unless you count the chicken bones we almost choked on... that was pretty special. Will never be back here to eat again. After so many years the place is under new ownership/management and the very first thing noticeable is it's better organized and clean. Ordered our usual pho, noticed the meats are less in quantity, the vegetables not fresh, noodles are clumped together, prices have gone up quite a bit. The nerve of the manager to ask for a tip. I really enjoy Pho Mai, come in to eat about once a week. The restaurant is open and clean, with nice decor. The staff is nice too. Their small bowl of pho is the perfect size and at a great price too ($4.95) Comes with plenty of meat but I personally like to get extra meat, for 0.85 cents more. Occasionally will also get the pork skewers, which are pretty good too. Pho Mai is probably one of my favorite places to get pho. read more

I come here somewhat regularly. On today's visit, the Bahn Mi was the best ever. Great French roll, served warm, packed with crisp vegetables; ample meat...the sandwich is 5 star. The cafe sua da is no longer served in the little brewing container on the table, but the flavor is just right anyway. Not sure how they pull that off, but it's a 5 too! So why a 4 star rating? Pho Mai's menu is pretty limited, and much of it, besides the pho, has chicken or eggs in it, which I'm hypersensitive to. Not much beef available outside the pho offerings. Been coming here for years. Nice clean atmosphere, friendly staff and excellent food. By far my favorite Pho restaurant in Everett.

Usually our go-to pho place in Everett. This time we got it to go. We ordered the following: 1. Medium chicken pho with extra vegetables 2. Medium vegetarian pho This is what we ended up with when we got home: 1. Medium beef pho with tripe, some kind of cartilage, and meat that was full of chewy tendons 2. Spring rolls with shrimp 3. Pork Bah mi And no, we did not go back because we had walked due to the snow storm. While we were waiting, another table was served their pho without noodles. A bit disappointed They were not on their A-game today. We will go back, but definitely will be more careful making sure we get what we ordered. read more

Very good pho! We come here weekly and are never disappointed! One of the only pho places open on Sundays in the area! Update: We have stopped going here as the recipe changed and went from really good sweet/salty mix to pretty bland. We gave it a few chances and decided to go to another place instead. We might come back in a few months to see if they went back to their original recipe. Needs more flavor! read more

From what I can tell, this place has new owners and the first thing I noticed is that it was way cleaner and the waitstaff is pleasant and friendly. I had a cold and desperately need some chicken pho to help me feel better. Not only did the pho taste excellent, but I felt less congested after eating it, which was a bonus. My sister invited me out to lunch for my birthday. We were both craving pho and happened to be in Everett at the same time, so we looked up a restaurant on Yelp. Pho Mai was given an average of four stars, but I have no idea why after the experience we had. Yikes! When we walked in, the dining area had a few tables full of patrons with most of the other tables full of dirty dishes. We had to ask about seating, since we weren't sure if we needed to wait or seat ourselves. After we found a clean table, a young man came over to take our order, but we hadn't even taken our coats off yet. We asked him to please give us a minute, then decided quickly what we wanted. All of sudden, no one was available to take our order. I hate feeling pushy in restaurants, so we waited ten more minutes. I finally got up and found the same young man to help us. We ordered the fresh spring rolls and two small bowls of chicken pho. Almost immediately we were served the rolls, without plates. I got up again to find someone who could give us plates. When I sat back down, I noticed a strange odor that smelled like sour feet. It was our spring rolls. My sister and I laughed (nervously) to ourselves as we took the first bite. The wrapper was the chewiest I've ever experienced and thick in texture, for some reason. The shrimp did not taste fresh, so we picked it out for fear of getting sick. We stomached our way through the rolls because we were hungry. The pho came out awhile later and was bland. I actually added salt to my soup! Our table was missing spoons, so I had to get up and grab two from another table. Then our water cups were empty, so my sister asked the young man for more water. He said, "Sure," and proceeded to go out to the parking lot to get something from his car. He came back in and went back behind the front counter to do something else and forgot about us, so I got up and took our water cups to him and asked for more water. The tables of dirty dishes were bussed around us while we ate, and we loaded up our soup with sauces to make it palatable. The bill arrived within five minutes of receiving our food and my sister left a tip, which was very kind of her. I didn't ask her to, but she promised to take me some place better after the new year. My wife and I spent a month eating our way through Vietnam from Mekong to Hanoi. It was a 1,200 mile journey through the pho motherland via places like Can Tho, Saigon, Nha Trang, Hoi An, and Ha Long. More recently, we moved to Everett from Queen Anne where we had spent the last 9 years visiting what seemed like every seedy strip mall in Seattle in search of new pho joints..... I guess the point is that we're acquainted, pho and us. We've met. Ya dig? We chose this place strictly due to the proximity to our house, a decision fueled by a 1:1 mix of curiosity and laziness. I had read the "meh" reviews and noticed that there are other higher rated pho restaurants nearby, but it's just. so. close. We had to give it a shot, and so today we did. And it's pretty damn good. The broth is the defining element of any pho and theirs is just what I would hope for when I need my fix. Beefy and flavorful yet somehow complex and delicate. The portions are good, the plate of sprouts, lime, basil, etc was fresh, the restaurant was clean, and the price is pretty standard. The service wasn't spectacular, but if you expect red carpet service over a $7 meal in a strip mall restaurant, you're probably an insufferable a-hole and I weep for your family. The fresh spring rolls were on par and my wife gave the prawn skewers a thumbs up. Overall, a safe choice for local Vietnamese food. We'll be back. read more

HORRIBLE, HORRIBLE, HORRIBLE service. Last night my husband I went to a movie and then to Pho Mai for a bowl of Pho. We arrived at the restaurant about 8:30PM. We were really looking forward to the spring rolls and a bowl of hot Pho. Service can be slow at best and a little difficult because of the language barrier, but we eat here on a regular basis and knew this. What we were not prepared for was just before 9PM, when my husband asked for a glass of water the waitress came to our table and told us no they were closed and we had to go. I tried to explain to everyone there that we had not finished our dinner but we just got these blank looks with smiles. NEVER, NEVER, NEVER again will I eat here. The food is good, but you can get good Pho and better service in a lot of different Everett restaurants. Couldn't decide what to eat... Starvation mode kicked in and we pulled out the yelp app to figure out what we were going to eat. PHO it is... Again.. This place had a good rating and some good reviews so we thought, Meh why not? Go inside and its very clean, we were seated right away... My cup was lopsided... and they were cracked and old. Started off with shrimp spring rolls and they were okay, but expensive then most places. I got a medium beef, and they gave me maybe 5 pieces of beef and 2 pounds of noodles. The broth was okay but it was to sugary for my taste. Definitely keep to my Than Brothers... one thing I did like was that they had all ranges of sizes and you could pay for the extra noodles, beef, chicken or whatever you wanted... The real reason of me coming here this weekend to grab lunch is so I could case the spot. I have a very great and much loved Pho haunt up the street from here that seems to be suffering business loss from this location's opening, So I went in to see what all the hype is about. I couldn't bring myself to order Pho, because I wasn't ready for that- I settled with a combination Banh Mi. I had a hard time ordering, as I think the gentleman taking my order wasn't very fluent in English. No matter, I got what I wanted. I will be back at a later date to try the Pho to see if it really measures up to the quality of my other top two in Everett. A big pro is that the shop is newly painted and clean, and there is Air Conditioning which is awesome if you want to eat Pho on hot days. I saw a lot of Caucasians eating there this weekend, so I would assume if you like "white people" (no racist pun intended) Pho then this is your spot. The Banh Mi (referred to on the menu as "Vietnamese Sub Sandwich") was pretty standard, uninspired, grilled pork and that weird giggly ham slice (no pate' though) but it tasted good and I wasn't too disappointed. I had a peep into their cooler to check out the "cream puffs"- I didn't notice any customers eating them though, and they were pretty small like the ones you get at Than Brothers but looked more industrial produced. I would honestly say that from first impression, If you dine out for Vietnamese food and ambiance is a major prerequisite- The shop is clean, the staff is nice enough, and you won't be disappointed there. If you want real, traditional Vietnamese and you aren't picky about A/C or ambiance and like cream puffs in more than one flavor and as big as a baby kitten, go to Janbo Cafe up the street. read more

The first time we went there for Pho was I think in September 2013. We arrived and ordered. Several families entered and were seated. As i was consuming my bowl of pho Ga that was blah, very little chicken and too salty, I noticed the TV. Wow... it was some unknown network with a soap opera type show. Suddenly the scene changes to a bar with a woman pretty naked... pole dancing. There were two young boys in the restaurant who both turned beet red. The parens backs were to the TV. No one noticed but me and my husband and the weirdo guy in the corner what was really on the TV at dinner hour. I drew attention to the waitress who laughed and then got the manager that equally thought I was funny and finally changed the channel. wow... Last Thurs night at exactly 8;30pm we walked into the restaurant and were greeted with the waitress saying: "Oh we close at 9! Only take out at 8:45!" I said to her "oh ok, if you don't want our business and turned" She noticed the time and suddenly a new story. I really wished I'd left. We don't have big bowls at home so take out isn't really a possibility. but she seated us nicely, my over salty chicken soup was served, I think it was a quick hot water and buillon cubes thing, My husband had his usual and 15mins later we left. As we left they shut the lights out at 8;45pm left our dishes on the table and everyone shot out the door. Wow.. just say so if you're closing early? Third try? ummmm no.... I will never eat here again, unfortunately. I was craving banh mi and this is one of the few Vietnamese restaurants in Everett open on a Sunday. Honestly, I am a bit of a Yelp snob - I tend to only eat at places 4 stars and up but I figured 3.5 was going to be okay. I got a chicken banh mi and my partner got a pork banh mi. We also had an order of veggie egg rolls and I got a can of thai iced tea from their little refrigerator near the register. The canned thai iced tea was the best part of the meal. The egg rolls were actually pretty tasty but the veggies were pretty indistinguishable. They were HUGE though, but also very greasy. Okay. The banh mi. This broke my heart. I LOVE a good banh mi. I even love a mediocre banh mi. But the meat on BOTH sandwiches was grey... it didn't look like chicken OR pork. The bread was so dry I couldn't even finish one bite. I wouldn't have even fed this to my dog. I took a small bite, spit it out, and regretted spending what little "dine out" money I had for the week on this awful spot. They brought all the food out at different times which was annoying esp when you have a toddler to deal with. He had the wantons and noodles. I was pretty excited to try this place out since it had so many good reviews, but...I don't get the hype of this place? I've been on a hunt to find a good Vietnamese restaurant around town for a while now...but haven't been in luck. The only good places to get Vietnamese rice dishes are in Chinatown unfortunately..at either Vietnamese House or Huong Binh. My bf and I went and got the same dish of Com bi, suon, cha nem nuong (grilled pork, shredded pork, pork meat balls on skewers and this eggy pork thinger), I believe this item was C5 on the menu. Also on the menu, it said that as an "Alternate" to that eggy pork thing, you could choose a fried egg, so my bf and I asked for C5 with fried egg, but instead they gave us both the eggy thing and fried egg, and charged us extra for the fried eggs..wth! Why say that there are alternates if you're really just going to add it on?? In addition to that, the grilled meat was inconsistent. My grilled pork was SUPER salty, while my bf's wasn't, plus the nem nuong (pork meat balls) was probably THE worst nem nuong I've ever experienced. However, the fish sauce was decent and the service was just as expected. Overall...It was alright. It's better than some other Viet restaurants in the local area, but definitely not a place that I'd return to. read more

Stopped in here today - a particular chilly (yet dry) Seattle December day. My bones were in need of some warming - and Pho sounded like the perfect remedy. Trusty Yelp app to the rescue - and minutes later I am walking in to Pho Mai Noodles in Everett. This place is kinda no frills. Not much to get excited about in terms of the decor in here. But I'm not here for the aesthetics today - I'm here for the Pho. Happy to report that the Pho here at Pho Mai hits the spot. Broth was nice and hot, good fresh fixin's, plenty of brisket and heaps and heaps of noodles. And I do loves me some noodles. Everything you need to spice it up is right there on the table, complete with probably 4 different types of chili sauces and oils. I also had a plate of the deep fried spring rolls which were excellent. The service in here is nothing to get excited about either. The folks here are pleasant enough - just not terribly welcoming. They do get the job done though and the food comes out quick. And all at a more than reasonable price. Only significant downside that I feel is worth mentioning: they put MSG in their soup broths. And I don't know if you have the option of getting them to "hold the msg." It's unfortunate because MSG gives me a headache. If you're hungry, and rolling through Everett, go Pho yourself at Pho Mai Noodles. You'l be glad you did. read more

3 weeks after first try I went back for to-go orders 3-4 times, the soup is still ok. But the last time in July, I can tell that their soup was changed and almost every dishes went on higher sweet and seafood wasn't fresh as before. So disappointed about the cream puff they didn't put in cold place, so it tasted like old and a bit sour in summer time. I have a difficult time finding authentic Vietnamese food. I am not Vietnamese but I was raised in a neighborhood that was heavily populated with Vietnamese families in the 70's and I was often asked to dinner at friends homes, so I am spoiled. It is very difficult to find a restaurant that doesn't "Americanize" some portion of the menu to appeal to their white customers. When I said I wanted my Pho the way they would want it, I got exactly that. No nonsense Vietnamese Pho. It was delicious, it was perfect, and the broth was excellent. The service was fantastic, friendly, and quick. If you want authentic Vietnamese, you won't be disappointed. To those who obviously walked in with an agenda to bash the place, go support the restaurant of your choice. This place is great. read more

This is my 2nd time eating at this establishment. The first time was nice. A teen was working as a waitress and was an absolute sweetheart... But as soon as I walked in this 2nd time I should of known it was going to be a bad experience... The table were sticky/dirty and so were the utensils to eat with. When I asked the waitress/cashier for a towel to wipe the table down. She gave me attitude and told me to sit at another table which was less sticky.. Smh.. I sat down at my new table and ordered pho and a fruit smoothie. 10 mins go by and my food and drink are brought to me. I start to pour housin/siracha into my pho when i realise the soup is lukewarm and to make matters worst there was a fly in my drink!!! I called the lady over to show her and to my face she tells me, that must've just happened because the restaurant doors we're open. I told her no that fly (which looks like its been dead a long time) had been in there since she gave it to me. She then apologies and takes the drink to the kitchen, where i see her show the cook the fly in the drink and they proceeded to laugh about it. At that point, I called her back to my table to tell her I wont be eating there and that I was leaving.. She had the nerve to still try charge me for the fly drink.. Tried many of the Vietnamese places in Everett and this is the best one. Love their banh mi, love the egg rolls and Vermacelli dishes. They are on speed dial and I drive 5 miles out of the way to come here. Great service. Great food. Be prepared for a barely English speaking person to answer the phone.
