Was visiting and went here based on a recommendation. Great service and super cute place. Loved the buffalo cauliflower - nicely fried and almost fluffy. I had the coconut chicken bowl - beware because it is SPICY. Great flavors, good portions, and spicy. Did not really like the tomato salad. Tomatoes were not firm and it was watery overall. Still, I'd recommend it overall! Btw: if you have mobility issues, you'll want to dine inside as there are stairs required to the patio. We didn't know that and there is no hand rail either.
Came here for dinner. Great vegetarian and vegan options. No meat/seafood is fried so no cross contamination of vegetarian fried items. Got the sweet potato fries with the vegan ranch dressing. That dressing deserves a 10. So good. I also got the vegan Caesar salad. It was good, nothing special. My friend got the basic bowl and said it was good. Our server was sweet and friendly. Inside was open and airy. Would come back to try other things if I was visiting longer.
We had a wonderful dinner at Basic Kitchen, located just a short walk from King Street. The restaurant has a cozy, welcoming atmosphere that feels very community-driven and intimate, making it a great spot for a relaxed dinner. When we visited on a weekday evening, we were seated quickly with no wait! We started with the corn ribs, which were honestly one of the BEST appetizers we've ever had! They had the texture and flavor of ribs but were made from corn and served with an incredible chipotle dipping sauce that brought everything together perfectly! For our main dish, we ordered the spinach and feta pita, which was warm, gooey, and packed with flavor. The pita was stuffed with spinach and feta, making it rich and comforting--almost like a warm hug. It also came with a fresh side salad that was tangy and refreshing, which balanced the richness of the pita really well! I do wish that the pita was a bit more flavorful on the inside, not just the outside. My husband also ordered an Old Fashioned and said it was excellent. Overall, the food felt incredibly fresh and thoughtfully prepared. If you're looking for a cozy spot in Charleston with fresh ingredients and great flavors, this place is definitely worth visiting!

A wonderful Mother's Day lunch! All of our food was fantastic. The sweet potato fries MELT in your mouth. As someone who has to avoid gluten, shellfish, and dairy, this place is so wonderful for all food restrictions and they have many safe options for me to eat. I also highly recommend their mocktails! Our service was great, staff were friendly. Sitting near the front window was such a treat with the beautiful flowers behind us in the flower box.
My mom and I came in on a Friday afternoon and were able to be seated right away. The outside of the restaurant looks like something you would walk right by, but the inside was bustling. It is decorated beautifully and has high ceilings. Just from looking at people's food as we were being seated I could tell this was going to be a fantastic and fresh meal. Our server greeted us and first asked if we had any allergies she should know about. While neither of us do, I thought this was a kind gesture. I was also able to observe all the servers and the hostess working together to make the whole restaurant run smoothly, with everyone helping out where they could. I ordered the Shawarma Bowl and my mom ordered the Good Burger with a Golden Latte with espresso and coconut milk. When asked if my mom wanted avocado on her burger she said no, but it still came with avocado and we were charged for it. She was not too upset though because she agreed the avocado should have been on the burger. Overall the food was incredibly flavorful, fresh, and creative. If I ever have the chance to dine in Charleston again I would definitely come back here, as the whole menu looks enticing!

Our server was in the final weeks of her pregnancy and feeling it, but was so sweet and attentive. I do wish they had more options on the food menu. The beet margarita was interesting and the Negroni was incredibly strong. It was reasonably priced. I'd eat here again.
This was such a fun brunch for our party of four! We were seated on the patio and had perfect weather in Charleston in November. Our server was very sweet and friendly and took great care of us. We had a few different folks come check on us/bring food over/clear the table, and I always appreciate those table touches. The beet margartia was really tasty and not too sweet, and it's just such a beautiful color - you can't beet it ;) Breakfast was delicious and we were all very happy with what we ordered. Both the veggie (good) and regular (naughty) burgers were tasty and the sweet potato fries were just AMAZING. I had the "conscious cowboy" plate and it was super unique and tasty. The corn ribs were such a good treat - you have to try them. Easy to eat, perfectly cooked and season, great to share with the table. We hung out and took our time enjoying the meal, and everything was awesome.

The Cauli Wings didn't quite meet my expectations, felt like we've had better. Unfortunately, the chicken in the shawarma bowl was way too dry to eat. However, the rest of the bowl with its sauce pairings was pretty good.

Then I had the veggie burger and sweet potato fries, which were also tasty. My husband enjoyed the burger, but didn't think it was as good as it should have been for that price. The server was very kind, but I think he was a bit overextended because service was very slow. We'd finished our drinks and wings when he finally turned up to ask if we wanted entrees. Considering how exhausted we were from a day of sightseeing, we wished we'd been in and out a little quicker. Although I can't fault him for considering the possibility that we wanted to linger. All that to say, it was fine.
Different & VERY GOOD! Good crowd but not at all noisy. Most excellent service by Bryan! Nice beverages, Banana Bread, Corn Ribs to start. Smoked Salmon toast YUMZ. Amazing tastes of Veggie Bowl and Chicken Sausage. And now for the Chocolate Tahini Tart!! If you've never been, STOP, DROP and ROLL IN!!
Sweet potato fries were offered on the house when the kitchen notepad an extra ordered. Very nice start, and they were good - thick, soft and lightly seasoned. Fattoush salad with grilled salmon - a reasonable size portion. Did not finish, due to filling up on the fries.
We had been looking forward to trying Basic Kitchen because we'd heard such great things about the food, and overall it lived up to the hype--but the service unfortunately fell short. We had a reservation, were seated promptly, and received water right away. After that, though, we waited about 15 minutes without anyone checking on us and eventually had to wave someone down just to place our food and drink order. When our server came over, I asked whether the strawberry matcha had any added sugar in the strawberry purée. Instead of answering the question, she responded with, "Well yeah, it's strawberries," in a noticeably dismissive tone. I clarified that I was asking whether there was added sugar, and while she eventually answered, the interaction felt unnecessarily curt. Unfortunately, that attitude continued throughout the meal. The disappointing part is that the food and drinks were excellent. The salmon bowl was our favorite dish--absolutely fantastic. We also loved the kombucha, the fresh juice and coconut water drinks, and the matcha. The kitchen clearly knows what it's doing, which made the service experience even more unfortunate. I'd absolutely come back for the food, but I hope the service is warmer next time because it didn't match the quality of everything coming out of the kitchen.
So good that we had to come back here twice on our vacation! The sweet potato fries are amazing with the ranch they serve, I could eat the whole appetizer dish of them myself! Great service and great ingredients! Food was delicious with amazing flavor, definitely recommend the burger! read more

What a great detox brunch after a night of partying! Our bachelorette group of 11 got the first resy of the day at 10am on a Sunday. We were seated promptly and our waitress was very nice. Most of us got coffees and a few girls tried the wellness shot flights. Two of the girls were going to share a wellness shot flight but were convinced to get separate orders at the recommendation of the waitress and then ended up not finishing the shots as they were larger than anticipated. I got the burger as my meal and it was a good size and very tasty as were the sweet potato fries that it came with. The menu was not very large but our group was not picky and all found something they really enjoyed. Would recommend to others! read more

Good vibes sitting at the bar for brunch. The service was good and the food was great! Highly recommend the zucchini fritters, which come with eggs, avocado and a chili jam, and the almond cornmeal pancake topped with apples and whipped yogurt. read more

While we were shopping along King Street, we desperately were looking for a place to refuel. We ended up arriving around 20 minutes before they closed and they still sat us! The service was speedy and efficient butttt that could've been because they wanted to go home (I don't blame them). I ended up ordering the Green Salad with grilled chicken and it was delicious. The serving size was huge and it was definitely filling. My only note is that it was drenched in the dressing so perhaps they could add a little less. Our experience was just wonderful and I would definitely go back again! read more
Cute spot with healthy, creative bowls and salads. The Thai me to the Moon ($25 + $4 for added avocado) was large and phenomenal. Wonderful asian flavors like miso and lemongrass. The menu items are on the pricey end for a soup and sandwich cafe, but I suppose the quality makes up for it. Staff were super sweet. read more
Great place to take 2 babies. We sat on the patio for a 5 pm reservation. They had heaters which made it a very comfortable temperature. The food was very fresh. I'm only rating it 4 stars because the service seemed understaffed. read more

Always a great time. I make this joint a stop every time in Charleston. The menu is so clean and fun. Drinks are super interesting. Alcohol is not necessary if that is not your vibe. Grab a coffee drink or a fresh juice! Sitting at bar is great - service is fantastic. read more
Came here on a Saturday afternoon around 2pm, it was packed and busy. We were nervous we wouldn't get a seat but ended up getting one by the front window. Food was delicious. The highlight was the buffalo cauliflower. It was truly so so delicious and it had such a unique twist on top. It was topped with pickled celery! Such a genius idea. Vibes were good just busy! But everything came out pretty fast. Love this place and will be back when in town! read more
So good! We'll definitely back! This was our first visit, party of 2, for an early pre-show dinner. We started with the corn ribs. They are zesty, so served with a few celery sticks to cool down the palate. There is a special peach and feta panzanella salad. The ingredients are not overdressed so you can savor the flavor in each ingredient. A great summer starter! We shared the Naughty Burger. The sweet potato fries are perfectly cooked, not greasy, some crispy edges, and perfectly salted. The house made pickles are not overly sour which allows them to complement rather than overpower. It again means that each ingredient can be savored on its own and in one combined bite after another. We ended by sharing a rich and thankfully not sickeningly sweet chocolate tahini tart. read more

The healthiest meal I had in CHS - a refreshing relief! This place was packed for Sunday brunch - make a res if you can. Beware - on Sat and Sun, they do not serve their lunch menu - it is their brunch menu. Weekdays they serve the lunch menu. The interior is adorably decorated - bright, boho, chic. Our service was good and our food came out fairly quickly. - Corn ribs - yum!!! Loved the spices and sauce. - Basic bowl w/ chicken - so good. Generous portion, although I wish there was more broccoli. The chickpeas were stewed in some kind of sauce and super yummy. Lots of quinoa in there too. Was here for dinner on two different nights. Nice place, though not too large, so a reservation is wise. Service was wonderful. One night was the NAUGHTY BURGER brasstown farm grass-fed beef, double patty smash, aged white cheddar, griddled onions, dijonnaise, bread and butter pickle -- A great version of a burger that I would certainly have again. On the second night is was the SALMON BOWL grilled salmon, carolina gold rice, marinated cabbage, carrot ginger salad, cucumber, seaweed, furikake, orange miso sauce. All the flavors came together great for this one! I also shared the RED LENTIL DAL chickpea & lentil dal, roasted cauliflower, cilantro as a starter with the table. Add some rice, and this could be a meal in and of itself. read more

Food is delicious! We ordered takeout and got the cauliflower wings, basic bowl with chicken, veggie burger, and super greens pasta. I don't know what I'll get next time because everything was so good that I want to get all of it again, but there are also so many other things on the menu that look great. The food just felt light and refreshing and I would definitely recommend! read more
Came here post gym and liked the selections they had when looking online. This is right off king street and it has a really cute hipster vibe. Although the food was fresh and healthy, I wasn't particularly impressed with anything. I did enjoy the appetizers more than mine and my husband's entrees. His was pretty straightforward- chicken, rice and beets. And this is just my personal opinion on the spinach and feta pita- wayyyy too much cheese. I could only eat one half before it was so rich and overpowering. The burger was done well and I do love some sweet potato fries. Our server was amazing, she asked about allergies and was super accommodating to my husband being celiac. She made the overall experience pleasant! read more
What a cute spot! I absolutely loved the inside of this restaurant and how pleasant the staff was. We visit for my friend's birthday and had the best cocktails (the beet cocktail is the go to and what they're best known for) and the food was even better. I'm normally a very picky eater and don't enjoy a lot of veggies but this was a pleasant surprise. The staff was kind and friendly and our server was the sweetest.
