We went to the O Bar for their oyster happy hour (M-F 4-7) on the first night of our Charleston vacay. I'm sooo glad we did, because we will come again before we leave. You can't beat $1.50 oysters, and these were large, plump, and juicy. I also ordered some hush puppies which were also delicious. Check out the O Bar if you get a chance!

We've been here a few times. This Thursday night was the emptiest I've seen it, likely due to the cold temps. We sat at the regular bar, not the oyster bar, and the service was good. I like that you can order oysters individually. I ordered a fire roasted oyster with garlic, butter, & Parmesan for $3.50 & a Rockefeller one $4. I prefer chargrilled oysters. The roasted one was my least favorite. I swear there was sea water still inside. The Rockefeller 1 wasn't cooked how I expected and had looser toppings, but I preferred it over the former/ I also had the Charleston she crab soup, which I've had before at other restaurants and enjoyed. My husband also agreed it wasn't the best we've had and was, "just ok." I wanted to order the whole snapper, which was very reasonably priced, but had to cancel the order as I was getting full. I ordered the house salad instead. The tea vinaigrette was a nice touch of sweetness to the salad. I had a glass of Riesling to top off my meal. We celebrated my MIL's 90th birthday here a couple years ago so I know what they're capable of. That was also in the restaurant, not in the bar... Come try them for yourself.

My crew and I all ventured out for happy hour/ early dinner, before we had an early flight the next day. I had found O Bar on yelp, always looking for oysters. They did NOT disappoint! Together we tried a bit of everything. Mussels and oysters, of course, the fish taco, hush puppies, shrimp Mac and cheese, and for our seafood adverse friend...a burger. Everything got rave reviews. The oysters on special were James River from Virginia and they were fresh and sweet. The mussels were perfectly prepared and topped with a bit of cheese, which was unexpected but tasty. The service was good and the place was super cute. In a touristy area but off to the side a bit. They have an adjoining full restaurant but the OBar was perfect for us. It was still the topic of conversation the next day, with our burger lover determined to try something outside her comfort zone next time.

Came here a year later and they still have great Happy Hour! They are located right near the market and in walking distance to many other places. Super solid options on their HH menu, I love their peel and eat shrimp so we got a boatload of them! Our first round of drinks came pretty quick and later we ordered a second round when we finished our food. It was about 15 mins and no drinks, so we asked our server to come over and cancel our drinks. She apologized and said she could see they were just finishing it up. (2 beers and 1 glass of sparkling wine) I understand that it was happy hour but we didn't even order cocktails so that was a super long time for just 3 beverages. We ended up just taking them since they finally made it. ‍ We still got charged for all 3 drinks but at that point we were just ready to go. We still had a pretty good time but just some communication on those type of delays would be nice in the future.

We stopped by South Carolina Charleston for one day and was craving some seafood; while the menu selection was fairly simple we wanted to try a variety of options through the state tower. The raw seafood was delicious especially the oysters and shrimp especially, the muscles otherwise were not too desirable. As for the appetizers, we tried the crab soup as well as the fry pimento cheese. We absolutely adored the fry pimento cheese however, the crab soup was a big disappointment. I do not recommend it. overall are very good experience. If you wanna stop by for some local seafood here in Charleston, South Carolina would come again.

I'm in Charleston for a conference and stepped out of the hotel for a walk down Market St and came upon the O Bar! As luck would have it, the have happy hour on Saturday until 6:00! I hand a local beer and an Old Fashioned... the OF was perfect! The St James River oysters are $1.25 during HR and they were tasty! I also had a 1/4 of shrimp. The bar staff was very attentive and engaging. If you in town, definitely stop by!

Nice menu, food and cocktails. Informative staff. Had my first oyster tasting (in over 10years) it was Very good. Some patrons at the bar had a platter of freshly shucked oysters over ice and they were pleased. I had an adult iced tea and I def felt it on the way back to the hotel at 430pm - long day walking I had to lay down for a bit. Go on over and get Shucked !

What else do you need to say!

Interesting seeing other reviews saying they weren't oyster people. That wasn't our experience at all, in fact I would place them as the place that had the best oyster selection. Our waiter was very familiar with the different varieties and recommended which ones were the best for the day. He didn't disappoint! My wife doesn't like oysters so she ordered the muscle appetizer, she really liked the broth they were cooked in but thought the cheese on top was an interesting choice. Had it not been for what we thought was the weird cheese I would probably go with a 5 star. (Perhaps they wanted more salt from cheese...who knows...to each their own!)

Smashed 48 oysters cuz I love oysters but the waitress was not chill (we had to lowkey beg her to come to our table) the happy hour was great tho, food came out food jus wish service was better

I have been wanting to try the O Bar for a couple of weeks and finally got a chance to dine in. It was an off time between lunch and dinner times so the restaurant was very quiet except for a few tables and a few patrons at the bar. I liked the layout of OBAR, a narrow interior with small amount of tables spaced nicely on one side and the large bar area running almost the length of the room was on the other side. I am always on the lookout for a refreshing beet salad and ordered it here with an addition of grilled salmon. The citrus vinaigrette went wonderfully with this salad as well. The seafood and oysters were fresh and while you are always taking a chance with how the salmon is grilled, this time it was done perfectly! Will return to the O Bar which is part of the Charleston Crabhouse family with locations downtown, on James Island and in Mt Pleasant.

I know it sounds funny to rave about chicken nuggets, but these were honestly some of the best I've ever had. They reminded me so much of McDonald's chicken nuggets in the best possible way. I stayed for a drink and ended up getting treated to an incredible thunder and lightning show over the city. It wasn't even raining, which made it even cooler to watch from the rooftop. Between the amazing views, the friendly bartender who saved me from going to bed hungry, and unexpectedly fantastic chicken nuggets, this ended up being one of my favorite stops in Charleston. I'll definitely be back for another drink...and another order of chicken nuggets.

The roof top however gives off more of a college/dive bar vibe despite having a great view of the city. When we went on Monday only one bar, the downstairs one was open. Despite there being servers it didn't seem that anyone wanted to take tables so the solution was for guests to order drinks/food at the downstairs bar and bring it up to the deck themselves. While the bartender was nice, fast, and good at her job everyone else around her just didn't seem to care to provide service. The chips on the trio platter were beyond stale and since servers didn't care to serve the top deck tables were left unbussed and dirty. Not sure if this experience was a case of severe understaffing or just negligence on the management. I'd recommend going to literally any other rooftop bar for a more elevated experience where the staff actually wants to serve the guests.

Our bartenders were also phenomenal and really added to the experience. We came to celebrate during my birthday and started with a champagne flight, which was such a fun touch. For food, we ordered the steak and eggs and the Applewood bacon omelette. My girlfriend's steak and eggs were phenomenal. Truly no notes. Everything was cooked well, the pacing was great, and we never felt rushed. I ordered the Applewood bacon omelette, and this was really my only disappointment. There was almost too much bacon, which sounds ridiculous to complain about, but hear me out. The bacon was diced extremely fine, almost to the consistency of bacon bits, while the onions were left sliced. I think it would have worked much better if either the bacon had been cut a little larger or the onions had been diced down to match. The textures just felt mismatched. I could absolutely see the vision, and the flavor was there, but the execution was a little off. I ended up regretting my choice a little and wishing I had ordered the mushroom omelette instead. That is definitely what I'll be trying next time. I also wish there had been an option to substitute the home fries. This is definitely more of a personal preference, but home fries feel so overdone as a brunch side, and I would have loved another option. Those were really my only critiques in an otherwise fantastic experience. The atmosphere was beautiful, the bartenders were phenomenal, the pacing was great, and the food overall was delicious. Church and Union is absolutely somewhere I would come back to, whether for another celebration, brunch, or a date night.
