I saw a video of this place on TikTok and had to try it. I've been here twice. The first time, I came around 10am and there was still a good selection but some flavors were sold out. The second time I came was at 8am on a 20 degree Saturday morning. The line was out to the road and I waited an hour before I got inside. The place is very small and service is slow. I would come here more often but the doughnuts are quite expensive. $3.50 for one, $19 for 6 and $38 for 12. Poptarts are $4. They are however big doughnuts. I have tried many different flavors so I'll just list them and how they were. Homer- strawberry frosting is way too sweet and not much strawberry flavor. Cinnamon toast crunch- not bad. Samoa- very good, one of my favorites good combination of coconut, chocolate and caramel. Passionfruit- a bit odd, I don't think I really liked it. Maple bacon- good. Fruity pebbles- good but has the homer frosting which makes it not as good as it could have been. Original glazed- very good, my favorite. Creme brulee- very good, one of my favorites nice crunchy sugar topping that has the slightest burnt flavor but not at all overpowering or gross burnt. Vanilla coconut- it was ok, a bit sweet but nice balance between vanilla and coconut. KitKat- not good it was sweet and salty but no KitKat flavor. Birthday cake- it was ok. Blueberry cake- good. Blueberry cake doughnut holes- good. Strawberry poptart- it was good, nice pastry and filling. read more

Worth the wait EVERY TIME. Having tried each and every flavor I can confidently say that. It's no wonder they sell out every day. The glazed donuts are fluffy and fresh, the cake donuts are the absolute best, especially the Milk & Cookies! What I love is that the donuts aren't too sweet, the dough is savory which makes the yummy toppings even better. The dark horse has to be their Cinnamon Roll though. It's absolutely perfect, I get one whenever I can. Everyone inside is incredibly nice and cheerful. It's nice that the number of customers is limited because it never feels too crazy, even though they're always busy. I'm so happy to see a small business succeeding right now. This is exactly the kind of place I want to support. So glad they moved into the neighborhood! read more

Finally had a chance to drive to BBD it was a 50 min drive from Roxbury. Got there at 9:35am Wed The staff was welcoming when I entered small line, still plenty of fresh donuts assorted flavors available! I got a box of dozen to share with my co-workers for later today 3pm. 1 Blueberry, 1 fruity pebble's, 2 banana foster, 2 key lime, 1 maple bacon, 1 boston cream, 3 crème brûlée, 1 honey glaze! The banana foster & key lime was heavenly light and flaky filling was plentiful it was so delicious! The blueberry donut was also delicious as well! That was all I could eat the rest was for my co-workers and boss! Everybody was ranting and raving about how delicious the BBD tasted so good! Oh also got a cup of the cold brew coffee had a Ultra-Smooth, Full-Bodied taste to it! The staff at BBD was friendly really welcoming, it was my first time and they brought a smile to my face, this place is truly worth the drive They made my morning and made my co-workers day with the fantastic donuts everybody loved and devoured! read more

After seeing a feature on the show "The Phantom Gourmet", my wife and I decided to take a ride up here on a recent weekday. We took home 6 donuts to share with some family members. We got two chocolate glazed, a chocolate frosted with sprinkles, a maple bacon and a peanut butter glaze. We didn't care for the chocolate glazed, and sprinkled one was pretty much average, just larger. The maple bacon was excellent, with good flavor and thick cut bacon. That was almost worth the trip right there: the peanut butter one was good as well. I would have tried some more, but didn't think we would finish them in several days and they would no longer be fresh. Four stars for the friendly service and decent coffee. I doubt that I would drive all the way from the Providence area with PVD donuts around which is very similar. If I'm in the area again I would pay another visit and try some of the other donuts. read more

Very happy with our first visit to Basic Batch today! While the line looks daunting from the parking lot, the process is very quick and we were in and out in 20 minutes. They have a great selection of donuts and some pastries as well, such as cinnamon rolls and homemade poptarts. We opted for a few different kinds today - chocolate frosted, Nutella, Chocolate peanut butter pretzel, blueberry and a cinnamon roll. All were so delicious and we will definitely be back someday. When you come here, there will probably be a line, but the donuts are worth the wait! We waited in line for about 45 minutes because I've seen on Instagram that they sell out very quickly. There were a few options that were sold out when we got there, but we ended up with a chocolate cake, mixed berry jam, coffee chocolate chip, and cinnamon sugar. The raised donuts were amazing- light and fluffy and not overly sweet. The mixed berry jam was definitely the favorite for me! A much better take on the classic jelly donut. The chocolate cake donut was a little disappointing, though. It was very dry inside to the point where we weren't really interested in finishing it. Cannot justify paying $4+ for one donut (with a small tip which they really push for) My father and I got two donuts which were pretty good, and goodness gracious, it was over $8 and I think we only gave a $1 tip and taxes. Incredibly expensive. It's a small location with one or two people manning the front, I don't understand the prices. They are Instagram worthy and all that silly stuff but not worth traveling for especially with the economy right now. I figured during the war with ukraine they might roll out with some yellow and blue style donuts as they change their menu often or even something in regards to womens rights with the roe vs wade but although this seems to be a female run store, I do not see the support in that way. It would be wonderful PR for them but they seem to want to stay neutral. Their donuts are just like a 3/5, some of them are not good at all. For instance the blackberry/raspberry donut had so many hard seeds in it they should have strained out that the donut was inedible and way too tart. They leave you with an especially greasy after taste and film. If they prices were lower even by a dollar it would be more appeasing but it's tough to say I spent almost $5 on ONE donut. read more

Honestly the donuts do seem to be a big hit at staff meetings. They make so many creative types of donuts and combination of flavors that they have my full respect. However, what keeps them away from that fifth star is that I feel it can be overwhelming for people like me who prefer less extravagant donuts. If there were a French cruller on the menu, just a simple Glazed French Cruller for boring people like me, baked by these SUPERB pastry chefs, I would be elated. The line ended near their dumpster...I was incredibly disappointed to see an empty bucket of mass produced chocolate glaze as well as a bag of cake donut mix. Just add water? Gross! I thought this place was a scratch donut shop! Isn't the owner a pastry chef? My husband wanted donuts, so we waited anyway. The only decent one I had was the glazed. It was actually delicious. The rest tasted artificial, and similar to what you'd get at Dunkin Donuts. Having seen their trash, I understand why. Also, maybe don't make your customers hang out in the rear of your building. We thought it opened an hour before they actually did because the hours on Yelp weren't updated. Our drive there was about an hour and we expected a wait so it wasn't an issue. I'm just stating this because I want to emphasize the wait was worth it. It was very clean, well run, the workers were friendly and fast. We will definitely be back soon!
