The street corn flatbread was tasty and cheesy, and my friend's fried chicken sandwich was also good. Service was friendly if a bit slow. After lunch, we went apple picking which was I think $34 for a peck which is pretty standard nowadays. They had macoun, macintosh, cortland, and some other varieties, but I prefer my macs. The apple orchard is very small compared to other places I've been, but served its purpose. Would have been nice to have a couple ladders in the orchard for easier access to apples on top. Would have also been nice if the bathrooms were not portapotties--my friend and I chose to hold it lol. They also have a pen with chickens, ducks, and goats that look fairly happy and well cared for. We came on a weekday so it was not crowded at all, but I would imagine it gets packed on weekends.

After taking a stroll, we decided to check out the second floor which was supposed to have a little market, a stage where they host events, and some very comfortable couches along with tables and chairs. I mostly came to see if a book spoke to me, but also to get some reading in from the book I brought along with me. The lighting is good, although I sometimes prefer to have a dimmer setting for a cozier feel. We spent about 1.25 hours here, but we could have easily spent a longer time if it weren't so close to closing.

Since 2010, I have had to eat dairy- and gluten-free despite my love for everything containing those things! Over the years, I have found a few restaurants / cafes that will work with those limitations, and I'm happy to say I've found a few. Unfortunately, one is in Kansas (I'm in MA), and another (a bakery cafe) is in Orlando. Yesterday, I was searching for about an hour to try to find the best option for Sunday breakfast within an hour of our house... just wanting to find gluten-free pancakes on someone's menu was good enough. I stumbled upon Twist Bakery in Millis, and was pretty sure I had read it wrong - it was way too good to be true. So I called the restaurant, and confirmed they are gluten-free, but also had several items dairy-free. They were under-stating that... nearly everything there was dairy-free, and it was amazing. I felt like had won the Golden Ticket from Willy Wonka... everything looked so amazing. I have even better news - everything tasted way better than it looked. I did not stop smiling the entire time we were there, and went back up and bought a box of things to take home (I'll freeze some). I will be going back as often as I can - for someone like me, who's system can no longer digest dairy and gluten, this is heaven. Twist....where do I begin....Although I think it's terrific to have a gluten free bakery in our area, I am sorry to say that Twist hardly fits the bill. To be fair the risotto balls and the chicken pot pie are great but I found their pastries to be dense and VERY dry. I also was uncomfortable eating in the establishment. The shop is set up to be eat in friendly but friendly is the last word I would use to describe Twist. The employees were trying their best to be helpful but the ownership was frosty at best. My advice to Twist would be to beef up their sandwich portions and also their attitudes. .50 cents for a slice of cheese....really? read more

I went to Twist the other day for some goodies for my gluten free son. I got him a slice of apple pie which was 5 dollars and not worth it, lemon square bar that tasted like I had eaten sand and the smallest muffin on the market which was tastless and to boot 3 bucks.. The women behind the count was just down right rude when I asked about the pricing and what she used for products. I will never visit this place ever again nor will I tell people about it. I cannot say enough about Twist!! My son has severe peanut allergies and we therefore don't go out to restaurants at all. This is a WONDERFUL, peanut and nut free bakery (a well as gluten free and some items are also dairy and egg free) and restaurant. When we brought my son (who is 8 now) here for the first time, it was a very exciting adventure for him. Now that they are open on Friday and Saturday nights until 8pm, we will be there every week! Awesome! Perhaps an over used word, but after two trips here that is the only word that describes the food. The pulled pork tacos are a real good time, but the soups are ever better. Apple Onion with Pumpkin Croutons...so good. Keep up the good work Twist! read more
