I think I am invisible to the staff their except when they are taking my money. I went in twice, and both times they took my order, took my money, and then ignored me completely. I was not nasty about it either time (I mean, stuff happens), and the first time I waited while they made my order....the second time I just asked for my money back and you would think I insulted the Karen working their like I had disparaged her entire family. It was actually so weird to me it was funny, and the woman next to me joked that she would walk me to my car if I was worried angry woman would follow me. I mean, talk about DEATH STARE. LOL If they do mess up, I promise you, you will get no apology at all, just snippy people returning your money and acting like it was all your fault. It was bizarre....and it happened both times I visited. I get that the owner thinks his choices of products and ingredients is so superior ( if you read through the comments on this place, he has chimed in several times on bad reviews with a hilarious sales pitch, which does little to change anyone's mind when they don't like the food or service, but I'm sure it makes him feel better---turn lemons into lemon aid, am I right ? Ha ha ha ) Anyhow, I did manage to get the overpriced chicken salad tub that they sell the first time I went (I picked it up myself from the cooler, so they couldn't forget to get it for me, LOL) and I have to tell you...the amount of tarragon in it would curl your hair. Been coming here for years but have noticed some of the pastries are not up to par lately, specifically the cheese danish I bought today. It was exceedingly dry and I couldn't find any cheese. The outside had a dark dry appearance more like a crust, which should have tipped me off. Ended up giving it to the birds. Not just anyone can make good pastries and it makes me wonder if the new owner takes on unskilled bakers. No qualified, experienced baker would produce such a low grade product. There has been an enormous drop off in the quality of their bagels in the past few years. The bagels have devolved from crisp outside crusts and chewy, not bready, interiors to dense, often inedible, doughy lumps. The lack of care can even be seen in the shape of the bagels - last batch I got had some bagels that looked like skinny stretched out rubber bands while others were mudpie shaped with no semblance of a hole in the middle. At this point, the bagels at Shaw's supermarket next door are just as good if not better at a quarter of the price. The only reason Blue Moon gets two stars not one is that their pecan rolls are still delicious and the sandwiches not bad albeit overpriced. read more

Ok this is a tiny sample size so maybe I should wait to give 5 stars. Took a drive to check out foliage and looked up sandwiches in the area. Got a BLT on an everything bagel for about $6.50 and it was delish. Fresh bagel, good veggies and lots of bacon. People working there were very sweet (I think half of Medfield High works here and at Brothers) and the baked goods look amazing. Stupid of me not to take one to go. I just don't see the value here. The food is great but two bagels with cream cheese are almost 9 dollars while half a dozen bagels are also about nine or $10 so I kind of shake my head at what's actually happening there. A roast beef sandwich is $10 and I literally can walk 50 feet in one direction and get a sandwich three times the size for $10. read more

First off, you notice the tastefully designed restaurant including the lighting, artwork and its spacing, as well as a section to showcase local artists. Then you are hit by the delicious aromas of freshly baked breads and bagels and you're greeted by an amazing and friendly staff working hard to get your order prepared quickly. The place is always filled, especially on the weekends, with regulars and families but there is ample seating inside and out so you never have to wait to sit down. Blue Moon has the best chicken salad sandwich ever. Food came out quickly, and great portion. Lots of options for both breakfast and lunch. It can get super busy so you may have to wait in a long line, but they move it along and always worth the wait. read more

This place has it all!!!! From bagels to egg sandwiches to danishes to muffins to pastries and everything else in between. We got an oatmeal chocolate raisin scone which was so kick ass good. We ordered egg and cheese sandwiches, all super fresh and delicious. Service is also helpful, friendly and patient. Tons and TONS of options. You cannot get bored with this place. It's always clean. I've lived in Walpole for about 15 years and driven by the Blue Moon hundreds of times and always said to myself, I have to try them one of the times. I finally did in October 2020, and regret not having tried it waaaay sooner. Actually if I did, I would probably weigh 20 lbs more! They are a full blown bakery with breads, bagels, pastries, sandwiches and so much more. My favorite pastry is, for me, one of the hardest to find let alone a good one: pecan rolls. Some call it a sticky bun. OMG! These are to die for if you like pecan rolls. I used to live in Waltham and there was bakery in Newton about 30 years ago (can't remember the name) that made pecan rolls only on Sunday. You had to wait in line for about an hour to get these and I did! The Blue Moon's are also this good. So far, in addition to the pecan rolls, we've tried the biscotti, apple strudel, cinnamon rolls, and of course the bagels. All fresh and amazing. My wife chooses do to do Gluten Free and gets their GF bagel. She loves it. I tried it and for GF, it's not bad. If you're on a GF diet, you will likely enjoy it. She tried "Twist" in Medfield, which is all GF and this is waaaaaay better. They have lots of outdoor seating but if you go on a weekend, it's a very long line. If you call it in, you can skip the line. read more

I grew up in the area and used to love going to Blue Moon Café. I have to say, I was in there earlier today and received horrible customer service. The woman checking me out was extremely rude and yelled at me when I went to check and see if the bag they put on the take-out container was mine. She then slammed a sign (which had been out of sight behind the counter) in front of me and glared, asking "Can I help you??" Super rude. They have never had a system before for takeout, so how was I supposed to know? This is very quick, but the bar none best hot cross buns I've ever had. Not my mama's hot cross buns, and I loved hers.

Don't know what's worse, the price or the slowness. Let's start with slowness. I try not to go there, maybe I average twice a year for the last 5 years, and I almost always against my will. The last time I waited in the car while my daughter went in to get a sandwich. I'm not sure how long I waited, but eventually I went in to see what the hell was taking so long. She was waiting, and she had this look on her face like OMG. It's the same every time. They take forever. I'm sorry, I know these things take time and, for some reason, they are always busy. But seriously, come on. It shouldn't take 20 minutes to get a bagel sandwich. Price: Too much. It shouldn't cost 13 dollars for a bagel sandwich (that you have to wait 20 minutes for) and a drink.
