Real boiled bagels & truly tasty chicken salad
    Arinne B.

Great food and the most patient unflappable staff handling the lines of people who know where to go for authentic bagel quality. They have iced decaf hazelnut coffee!!! They also have almond milk for those who care...like me. I care deeply. There is no comparison between a black because they don't have a non-dairy-option iced decaf with a bad-for-you sugar flavor syrup & an iced coffee from this place--having the flavor infused in the bean & with almond milk. Plenty of open seating on a busy Thursday morning. Free parking behind the store. You can put these up against any NYC Bagel & these will win. Convenient to the Needham Heights T. Good mornings start here!

There's usually a line here. So when you walk in and see the line looped, don't get scared off! It moves pretty quickly, giving you enough time to know what you want before you get to the counter. Small local business but very friendly staff. We came late Sat morning around 11am and they were still making fresh bagels. They gave a good amount of variety and their custom blend cream cheese are very soft and spreadable. We got the garlic bagel with plain cream cheese and sausage, egg and cheese on an everything bagel. I'm looking forward to going can to trying more.

Amazing bagels and bagel sandwiches!! I love visiting Cafe Fresh when i'm really craving a good breakfast. Everyone is so sweet and kind and make the experience of dining in even more pleasant. I love the variety of bagels they have, and ESPECIALLY love the variety of cream cheeses. I had an onion bagel toasted with jalapeno cream cheese and it hit the spot.

Very cute little family owned bagel/coffee shop. The bagels are all made fresh.. all the food actually. The coffee is brewed in the bean (which is always a plus), fast service, and super friendly! Check it out if you're ever around needham

Cafe fresh is a go to bagel spot. They have everything you need. It's cheap and satisfying. When you go right in the morning the bagels are hot and fluffy. Definitely gets crowded though. They are very reliable when calling in an order, usually ready pretty fast and you can skip the line. They also have various baked goods like cookies and muffins. The coffee is great too. Employees are very friendly and welcoming.

I always seem to find myself here due to my frequent eye doctor appointments. It is always a treat for me afterwards to enjoy a fresh breakfast bagel. You can literally see them making fresh bagels in the back and see that it's a family-run business. Support local! Some of the best bagels I've discovered in Boston area.

    Where's the shmear?

Café Fresh Bagel, Needham, MA Avoid the lox spread. I learned about Café Fresh Bagel from met my friend Steve Block, who used to buy dozens of bagels for people at my old job and elsewhere. He'd slap on a "Bagels from Block" smiley-face sticker and leave the bag for a new hire. When I bit into my first one, I was hooked! What texture! A thin satisfying, crisp with each bite, and a mild yet gratifying chew. What flavor! Cissel, raisin, sesame--they all packed a flavorful punch. And they were big bagels! An awful visit today. Things have been tight for my family and indulging in to-go food is an infrequent occurrence. But I knew on the way to a doctor's appointment this morning that I might have to splurge. I decided if there was a parking space in the CFB block, I would get a bagel. The more I thought about it, the more I wanted it, and the more I knew I'd enjoy it. My favorite, cinnamon raisin bagel well-toasted (I know, never toast a fresh bagel) with cream cheese and nova (and preferably tomato, onion, capers) was not in my budget, but I was practically drooling thinking how much I would revel in a cinnamon bagel well-toasted with lox spread. (insert clip: "mmm mmm mmm, the flavors are melting on my tongue.") I could envision it. My salivary glands were in overdrive. I was so close. I always feel rushed when I walk into CFB. There's an energy behind the counter that is great when there is a long line but not otherwise very calming. I placed my order. After a quick wait, I grabbed my bag and returned to my car. I was going to relax and eat while I listened to a book. But alas, disappointment befell my repast. The first thing I noticed (besides forgetting to ask my bagel to be cut in half) was the bagel's thinness. When I used to buy them for home, I'd slice them in thirds because of their considerable size. This bagel was the size of a Bruegger's bagel. Then I noticed the thin shmear of cream cheese. I had expectations, and this was a bit of downer, but I didn't really need all that cream cheese, so that was okay. I ate a couple bites and noticed no lox flavor. And no raisin flavor. Another bite--nothing. I took a closer look and noticed the texture. The outside wasn't smooth. Again, Bruegger-reminiscent (or more NY than NJ in texture). I again looked for lox and realized I must have someone else's order. I was sure of it. This was a wholewheat bagel with plain cream cheese. Bummer. Since I hadn't left the vicinity, I returned to the store. My expectation was that they had my actual order and were waiting to see if I'd return. Or they'd remake my original order, or maybe they'd ask if I wanted a refund of the difference in cost between lox cream cheese and plain. Near the toasting station, my server acknowledged me with a quizzical look and indicated I should wait a minute. She promptly approached the counter, and I told her I thought I had the wrong order. She asked, "lox spread?" and I said, "yes, but that's not what this is." She asked if she could look at my still partially wrapped bagel. I handed it over. As she perused it, I could tell she was confused, too. She took it to the toaster where a few men had congregated. They all said there was lox in the cream cheese. The server returned the bagel to me. I looked at it again, and there it was, a miniscule bit of salmon. I said, "Okay, I see it now, but it's a tiny sliver of salmon. Maybe you should add more salmon to the lox spread." The men kept insisting it was lox spread, and I kept saying, okay, fine, I see why you're saying that, but you should add more lox in the future. One man commented on how he opened the container and used what was inside. {Tip: There might be a QC problem if the spread lacks any pink coloring--not just of the lox slivers, but the overall hue of the product.} At this point, my voice is a little raised because the men are across the store and it's loud in there (I'm not yelling--that is not my style), and I've interrupted someone else's order, which I feel bad about. And the people in line are ping-ponging their heads looking at me, then at the men, then at the server, and around again. One of the men should have bidden me to the other end of the counter and met me to discuss the issue and a solution without disrupting the flow, etc. Maybe I wasn't clear, maybe they weren't clear. idk. But the evidence was clear, and it was clear to me they didn't care what I was saying, and they certainly didn't care about my dissatisfaction. So, I left, dispirited and frustrated--and I admit, a little teary-eyed. My splurge of the week ruined, I vacated my parking space and ate my boring bagel on the way home. I wondered if the bagel was the runt, the last of the batch, or if in general, their cinnamon raisins (all their bagels?) are on the smaller side these days. On the plus side, I did end up tasting a few raisins. And the bagel was perfectly toasted.

The bagel was fresh and warm! The size of the bagel were quite big, took me awhile to finish it. There were lots of people but not many seatings. There's a parking lot behind the restaurant, so it's easy to find parking. We waited a bit to get our bagel, the people were nice. It's a small and busy restaurant!

We walked into a space that has the typical convenience store layout, with aisles of packaged snacks and beverages, hot food counters, and a practical setup that prioritizes accessibility over atmosphere. The store serves its purpose for quick transactions, though the condition of the space and the overall feel make it clear that this is not a place meant for lingering. The food and drink selection is what you would normally expect from a convenience store. There are plenty of options for chips, candy, bottled drinks, and quick items when you need something fast, and the hot food options are available if you are looking for a late-night bite. The food is more about availability and convenience rather than quality, and the store works well for grabbing a drink or snack on the go, especially when other options are closed. The biggest issue is the condition of the store. The space feels a little worn down and could use more attention when it comes to cleanliness and overall upkeep, which gives the impression of a place that is mainly used for quick transactions rather than somewhere that feels comfortable to browse. The experience depends a lot on when you visit. During a late-night stop, the hours and accessibility are useful, but the atmosphere does not encourage staying longer than needed. Small things like cleanliness and customer service make a big difference for a convenience store, and this is where this location feels behind. For a quick stop, the store is functional and works in a pinch, particularly when other places are closed, but it is not the type of place that makes you want to spend more time than necessary. If you are looking for something specific or need a late-night snack, this 7-Eleven will do the job, but there are better convenience stores nearby if you are looking for a cleaner and more pleasant experience.

This heavy set woman with gold glasses waited; on me on the night shift. I had several negative experiences with her . Due to her rudeness, horrific customer service adequate and low emotional intelligence . She is always on the night shift on my experiences. ( this information is so you can adequately identify this employee). Today she sold me scratch tickets at around 9:20 pm. I went over to the keno area to scratch them . It took me less than 4 minutes. I went back to cash and buy another . She said at 9:24pm literally 4 minutes later. " She did me a favor by selling me the tickets" , prior because they stop selling tickets at 9:00 pm. So giving her my hard earned monies is her doing me a favor . Geez Louise ! The lack of customer service skills is horrendous. The low emotional intelligence blows your mind away . Second incident: different day I go in to get a soda and snacks . I go to the register with this same cashier , to pay . She says I have to open the safe . That I need to back away . This made me feel uncomfortable. She should lock the door and open the safe not with customers inside . Third incident: different day She tells me I need to scratch the bottom of my scratch tickets , because she doesn't get paid enough for this . She basically screamed this with other customers behind me . I felt uncomfortable. I might have left one unscratched but not all because it's not my first rodeo . Again her low emotional intelligence in her way of addressing a situation is horrific customer service. Fourth incident: This time it's not even 9:00 pm . I go to buy tickets she says they stop selling them . So if you can please address the time scratch tickets stop being sold . To have a consistency for customers like myself . This woman is putting her own policy depending on her mood . Like she gets a kick out of the control . She likes being in control . The customers are why she has a job to begin with . Please corporate or store owner humble the ego of this cashier . ( I also called the 7-11 corporate office outside the store in my car , so this hopefully is addressed because this situation with this cashier has got out of hand). Please also specify the time scratch tickets stop being sold . Thanks

Yelp gets it right again…read more Two stars. And that is a very unusual rating for a Starbucks. * * * Two problems. One of which the Yelpers correctly note is the staff. Or rather, management and what management has allowed the staff to become. I think management structuration of the workflow has created pathological staff behavior as a byproduct. When I went there - the place was filthy. There is no way that conspicuously dirty floors are up to Starbucks corporate standards. Floors stay dirty if no one cleans them. Most coffee places have a rotation of duties that specifies who cleans floors and when ... And the job gets done often and well. My guess is that no such procedure was in place. The other Yelpers complain about service. I had perfectly wonderful service. However, if there are low performance standards on cleaning There may be low performance standards on the timing for getting product to customer. Note that the fact that reports from all sorts of different dates mention the same problem suggests this is NOT just an issue of a few bad apples working there now. When this kind of staff behavior is enduring that comes from management procedurals at the top. * * * There is a second issue that they can't control. In the afternoon, the sun shines into their west facing location, Making the Needham Heights Starbucks more or less an oven. If a turkey came in to get a latte and stayed to get some work done, It would be a roast turkey by the time it was done. When I was there, few people were staying. Most people ordered by app and left. Starbucks corporate typically deals with these things with thin mesh curtains to filter out the light. They do a half-assed job of helping with Texas light. This particular Massachusetts light blew away standard Texas light problems. Starbucks needs a better way to equip its stores for hot light issues. They don't want anything opaque because they want customers to be able to see out and they want potential customers to be able to see in. But the current system is not working in hot spots. * * * Either way - If you live in Needham, You are not going to go to Starbucks to get your work done.

I've been coming here for as long as I could remember because it's the only Starbucks in Needham. Unfortunately, no matter what time of day you're here, expect to wait around 20 minutes if not more for your drink. I used to swing by here frequently after work on weekdays around 4pm, but this is the worst time to come because all of the Needham students flood here. I always try to be as understanding as I can, especially with kids, but I've had numerous kids here take my drink here, and the baristas have to remake them. When it's empty, however, my drink is almost always takes much longer than it should to be made. The store almost always has crumbs on the floor, tables aren't cleaned off, and drinks are spilled on the table. If you have the time and don't mind waiting, this is fine, but if you're rushing, good luck with this Starbucks.
