Updated. Usually get lox. Was charged for lox and they didn't put any on the most recent visit. $20 for two bagels only to get home and have no lox at all. Wasn't worth the drive back. Solid take out only bagel shop in Newton. They have a parking lot but it's very limited. Inside is straightforward, nothing fancy and no tables to eat at. I ordered a poppy seed bagel with cream cheese which I liked. Wasn't as toasted as I prefer but I still enjoyed it. Cream cheese was fresh. Menu is simple, only hot coffee, juices, bagels, and certain sandwiches. It is also kosher friendly so they do not serve products with egg! Dear god, I am so over this place. For the longest time, they had the Newton bagel market cornered. But their customer service is SO DISMAL that I would rather simply not eat bagels than go there. They have really screwed me over multiple times. Specifically, when I place a big brunch order in advance, and the morning of the event they are out of something, they simply cancel your entire order shortly before it's due. They don't call, they don't attempt to troubleshoot, nothing. You're just left without a plan. I get that they are popular and therefore don't need my business - and they certainly act like it. So they won't get it! So glad NYC Bagel has opened, and honestly, Whole Foods bagels have been there for me in a pinch! read more

On a cold day I was in the area for a quick breakfast sandwich, usually like egg and cheese on a bagel with a hot coffee. It's in a plaza, parking is limited, free and small. You go downstairs and it has no chairs and tables to eat. I was so disappointed! Lots of bagels, cream cheese to choose from. No egg sandwiches. Another disappoint. Coffee was in thermos . Another disappoint. Prices weren't on for coffee, so I skipped. My friend and I had to eat in the car. The bagel was good, fresh, vegetable cream cheese excellent. Just no place to eat, so beware. Good bagels, picked up a dozen from here for the fam a few times. Our favorites are the classic plain bagel, everything, and sesame bagels. They always come out fresh and are great to freeze and toast for the next day. I was staying in Waltham and was hungry for a bagel. After looking at Yelp I decided to head to Newton and try Rosenfeld bagel. It's a bit difficult to find and parking is challenging but the aroma inside will be your reward. Small place with only limited outdoor seating. They specialize and focus on bagels, not coffee, not breakfast sandwiches..,.bagels. The bagels are good. I chose a poppy toasted with cream cheese, and an onion toasted with butter. If you're used to New York style this is somewhat close. A bit too bready and lacking (gluten) or chew in my opinion. Also the toppings (poppy seeds, onion, sesame) isn't really abundant so the flavor of the bagel kind of lacks. Not sure if this fell off before but more stuck on would be better. With limited decent bagel options around this was definitely satisfactory and much better than a chain bagel. Give them a try. read more

Definitely a good quality bagel. Rosenfeld's is more of a grab and go spot with a variety of bagels and other baked goods available. The shop isn't fancy but has some delicious, soft challah, a variety of Hamantaschen and bagels which I found to be a lot better than other hyped up spots in metro Boston. The staff was quick to take my order and ring me up but it wasn't busy when I visited. I'll definitely be back to try more bagel flavors and cream cheeses. read more

I was excited to take my brother here after hyping it up so much, yet I left feeling totally fleeced - $26 for one bagel with cream cheese + one lox bagel sandwich with absolutely zero indication of the prices on the board at the counter. At that price, I thought the sandwich might offer to plan my wedding or at least run some errands for me; however, the bagel remained totally silent, instead, leaking it's caper-water onto my shorts with every rubbery bite. read more

It included 10 dozen bagels, 5 lbs of lox, vegetables, cream cheese, tuna, etc. It was expensive, but we thought with Rosenfeld it would be exemplary. When we entered the room we were met with blank stares. There were no more bagels. Why? Because only 3 dozen of the 10 dozen bagels had been delivered. What? It was a VERY embarrassing moment and Rosenfeld's mistake, while acknowledged, was never rectified. They said they were sorry but I was the person who had to deal with the fallout. Solid bagel place! Employees are friendly and they have a large variety of flavors and spreads. Lox bagel was 14$ which is a lot for a bagel but most bagel places charge the same. Definitely one of the better bagel spots in the area! I really enjoyed. There is no seating so you will have to take your bagels to go. If it wasn't bad enough that I had never been there before, the rude woman who answers the phone just kept saying, "we're on the corner." Not helpful. I finally found them, with the help of a very nice gentlemen walking around the square (their signage looks nothing like their website sign, by the way) - I picked up my bagels and cream cheese OR so I thought. I got to the office and had bagels and no cream cheese. I called and, again, the rude woman said, when you show me your receipt, I will give you the cream cheese. I said, no you need to send someone with the cream cheese, she said no. I said then credit my account. She is completely and wholly unhelpful. The bagels are still excellent! Definitely give this place a try. However, no place is perfect. I tried the potato bagel and didn't care for it at all. I actually didn't finish it. I also tried the bialy. It was good, but I'm going back to my usual, the salt bagel, the next time I stop in. I can't recommend the small sweet roll I tried either. Now I know where she can get a loaf :) I figured out the parking lot. It's one-way, and you enter at the side of the building. If you're on Centre Street, driving northeast, get in the right turn lane as you approach Beacon Street. There's a large T sign at that corner. Take that right. The entrance to the lot is the next right after that. If you don't see an available space, continue on to the back of the building and go around the loop again. Zero stars if I could. Consistent with other reviews I have been going here for years and always dealt with the crappy attitude of the folks at the counters. But today was an especially fun one. Ordered Grubhub for delivery by mistake and realized when I arrived at the restaurant. I asked them about it and they said they couldn't give the order to me. Totally understandable. I asked Grubhub to change it to pick up so I could get it but they said they couldn't. I went back in to the counter to explain to them and see what could be done - I talked to 2 more people at the counter about it. Then one of the guys gave me the order as I was talking to them and I thanked him and walked out. I texted the Grubhub driver telling him I picked it up. 20 mins later I get a call from the head honcho at the store berating me and screaming that I shouldn't have picked up the order and how much money she lost and telling me she won't serve me again. For years I have been telling people how wonderful this place is and sending everyone there. The bagels are excellent. Today however, the owner and the counter person could not have been more rude, less professional, bordering on hostile - to the point that I felt the need to write this review. Today I placed an online order and drove from Andover to Newton, expecting my order to be ready. I paid online and received an email confirmation. When I arrived the shop, the counter person told me the store was not accepting orders, there's no way I could have placed an order on the holiday, and to step aside. Just like that. I told her I would show her my confirmation. She said NEXT. Would not even make eye contact. i walked to the back to find someone else to speak with. I saw a man behind another counter at the back of the shop . Turns out the was the owner. I assumed this would be more easily resolved. I explained the situation and he told me no orders were placed or could be placed due to the holiday and that if I had placed one (If!) it would be refunded in a few days. How could it be refunded if it wasn't placed?' I explained that his counter person was extremely rude and he told me "No one me has been rude to you, come on" and walked away. Really? At that point I was digested. I walked out of the store and the counter person was standing outside. i told her that it's very easy to be helpful and kind and it costs absolutely nothing to do so. I looked up and the owner was right there. He looked at me and said "Come on lady, let's go." i have no words for being treated so horribly by a place that I have loved and promoted for years. They should be ashamed of themselves. Not only will I never return or recommend this place, my husband who grew up in Newton, was a customer for over 40 years. He will not return either. read more

This place rocks. My family's favorite bagel shop. They have a nice shell and chewy on the inside. It's a small interior so very crammed and a bit hectic when busy but the line moves. A bit more than $1 per bagel when ordering a dozen which I think is reasonable. My favorite is the pumpernickel and the bialy. read more

ordered a cinnamon raisin bagel! bagel itself was wonderfully soft and fluffy with a crispy exterior! certainly unlike your classic nyc bagel (not super chewy), but a lovely texture nonetheless. there were also a ton of raisins in here which i LOVED! that being said though, the bagel felt a little plain? it lacked that distinctive molasses-y, subtly sweet flavor that makes a cinnamon raisin bagel a cinnamon raisin bagel. just felt like it was missing a little something! onto the cream cheese -- i tried the honey walnut cream cheese and the strawberry cream cheese! the walnuts in the hwcc tasted a bit questionable? but everything else was good! the strawberry cc also included real chunks of strawberry in it, which i thought was interesting. all in all, a pretty solid joint! not sure if i'd go out of my way for it, but it's definitely worth a try read more

I ordered delivery from Uber eats, so this review is just for the bagel. I had an everything bagel with chive cream cheese, nova salmon, tomato, onions and capers. It was delicious! I'm always on the hunt for high quality bagels, and this is definitely up there on my list of favorites in the Boston area. It is a bit pricey. the quality of that place has gone down drastically. the challahs (still decent), flagship of this bakery seem to have been prepared the night prior or the recipe might have changed but it is not longer what it used to be.
