    Breadsong Bakery 1/2016
    Vivian C.

I've been looking forward to visiting Breadsong Bakery ever since a friend enthusiastically lauded a day old almond croissant he once consumed. So I headed over one Saturday afternoon and was glad to see a single lone almond croissant sitting among the other pastries in this small corner shop. However, my mood was slowly smothered by my experience. I had already made a number of selections when a regular who had been enjoying herself at the nearby table started up a conversation with me about how wonderful Breadsong was and took joy in pointing out her favorite items from among their offerings, which only added to my order. She mentioned how she loved that their sweets weren't too sweet. As we chatted, a couple entered and were assisted by a different staffer than the one who was in process of helping me. As they left, he chased them down, and my new friend happily announced to them that he just wanted to give them a little something extra, which proved true as he proceeded to pluck two items from the counter display and to hand them over to the couple in a paper bag. My new buddy then told me how wonderful the breads were, and how they were being sold at a slight discount when purchasing multiple loaves since it was so near closing time on a Saturday and Breadsong does not open on Sundays. She confirmed this with the generous worker as the staff made preparations to close up the shop. He agreed, commenting that he would prefer to give them away than to let them go to waste. So I was a bit surprised that as a first time patron who had obviously witnessed this exchange, and who was the only one there beside this most friendly regular, that I was allowed to leave without a little parting gift of my own once I had paid for my order. It made me feel special, in the saddest sense of the word. I know, first world problems. And you'd be right. *** Almond Croissant $2.50 Bulgarian Butter Rolls (feta cheese & egg) $3.75 Quiche $3.75 Chocolate Rugallah $1.50 Lemon Cookie $1.50 *** I snacked on the lemon cookie and the chocolate rugallah the same afternoon. Their regular was right. These were not overly sweet, but were firm and tasty. However, I prefer my lemon to be more lemony, and my chocolate to be more rich. The remainder of the pastries spent the night in the fridge after having lingered in the cool of the car trunk for several hours. The almond croissant and quiche warmed up quite well in the toaster oven. What ought to be crisp, was crisp. The fillings were flavorful. I quite enjoyed both despite their day old status. The Bulgarian butter rolls were sliced and toasted warm the day after that. Swirls of feta curds were found nestled in the tender dough. It was an interesting savory break of my fast. Sunday's breakfast items were clearly the winners of this bakery run, and worth 4 stars on their own.

Wonderful little bakery. Lovely baked goodies and bread. Delicious sandwiches. Special place. Do go there. You won't be disappointed.

Perfect swirl of white and pink frosting with pearls for my baby girl's Baby Shower

Called 48 hours in advance to order 24 cupcakes for my baby shower from Denver to pick them up when I landed in Boston and they came out amazing and just the way I had imagine them! I did left them out overnight and wish I had waited till day of to pick them up. Frosting was a bit melty and the cupcake itself a little stale. Keep them refrigerated if not consuming right away.

I give them only when something has, in the truest sense of the word, surprised me. In a world oversaturated with mediocre coffee shops and uninspired baked goods, Quebrada Baking Company stands apart, not merely as a café, but as an experience worth seeking out, returning to, and telling everyone you know about. Quebrada has surprised me. We begin with the iced coffee, because it demands to be addressed first. I have endured, over the course of a long and largely joyless life of coffee consumption, more iced coffee than any person should reasonably be subjected to watered-down, over-sweetened, catastrophically over-iced monuments to mediocrity. What Quebrada produces is something else entirely. The balance is immaculate smooth, bold, and refreshing in equal measure, with a depth of flavor that lingers in the best possible way. It is the finest iced coffee I have encountered. I do not expect to encounter better. Whatever craft goes into that cup, it is something to be protected. The baked goods are equally deserving of distinction. The banana bread and pumpkin bread, in particular, are a masterclass in what these classics are supposed to be. Moisture, in baked goods, is not an accident it is a consequence of discipline and intention. Each slice arrives perfectly moist not dense, not dry, but exactly right with a richness and warmth that suggests genuine care in every step of preparation. These are not afterthoughts set out under a glass dome to accompany a drink order. These are the reason to come. The space itself is worthy of note. Quebrada has cultivated an atmosphere that is at once refined and deeply welcoming the kind of environment that invites you to stay longer than you planned and leave more restored than when you arrived. The staff contribute enormously to this. Consistently kind, not performatively so, but in the quiet, assured way that indicates it is simply who they are. This, too, is rarer than it ought to be. What perhaps speaks most highly of Quebrada, however, is this: for the past six months, I have returned nearly every week alongside a close friend. It has become our standing ritual, our preferred backdrop for conversation and quiet alike. In that time, not a single visit has disappointed. There is a rare integrity to a place that earns your loyalty week after week without ever becoming complacent, and Quebrada has earned ours completely. I have come to understand that a visit to Quebrada does not merely accompany a good day, it creates one. There is something almost alchemical about it. A difficult morning becomes manageable. A quiet afternoon becomes something worth savoring. I have walked through that door weighed down and left feeling, without quite knowing how, lighter. That is not something a menu can account for. That is the result of a place built with genuine warmth and purpose. For the food that has never once let me down, and for the comfort that has carried me through more days than I can count. I am, sincerely and without reservation, grateful. Quebrada has given me more than coffee and bread. It has given me something to look forward to. There is no higher standard by which I measure an establishment than this: that it earns your return, again and again, without ever giving you reason to reconsider. Quebrada Baking Company has earned mine unconditionally.

The mochi was so chewy and fresh, the matcha was rich and creamy, the strawberries provided a hint a tartness that gave balance, and the butter crunch made it the perfect texture combination. It doesn't get better than this. I think about this place often. You have the option of buying pre-made mochi. It was my first time trying taro pork floss mochi. I felt like the sweet cream, taro, and mochi was good, but it was sweet in comparison to the pork floss? the pork floss is supposed to make it savory, but the sweetness overpowers the pork floss, so I found it to be odd. Depending on the day and time you go, there could be a wait, but it's so worth it. I would go here again and again.

This bakery is such a cool experience- I love that they have lots of mochi options, but also let you get your own custom one. I made my own mochi with vanilla and strawberry inside, the and the oreo dusting. It was so cool how they made it right in front of you! The mochi itself was delicious (although a little messy) and i definitely would make the trip for more of it! I personally am not a mochi connoisseur, but my friends I was with are and they said it was "life changing". The bakery itself is pretty small and there's not a lot of seating, but it's a fun vibe and definitely busy!
