Blueberry Babka, Iced Lavender Latte, Potato Burekas
    Apex S.

Pleasantly surprised by our first visit to Bakey for breakfast. The lavender latte was great. Any place that makes house made syrup gets top marks. The potato boureka is mild in flavor but a filling savory side. The egg salad on an everything bagel was great, especially the bagel so airy and light, probably the softest bagel I've ever had. The babka, funny enough, was my least favorite of the lot. We got the blueberry one, and while it was good, it just didn't wow me. Next time I'll opt for a cream filled one perhaps. Service is at the counter and all food was ready made other than the egg salad bagel which took a little over 5-7 mins. [[HIGHLIGHT]]Ambiance is clean, fresh, and bright.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]]

Bakey is a bakery chain with multiple locations across the Boston area. [[HIGHLIGHT]]The staff here were friendly, and the overall atmosphere was calm and relaxing, with a nice seating area to enjoy pastries on-site.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] We tried a variety of pastries, with the almond pastry standing out as a favorite. It had a light almond flavor, was baked well, and had a perfectly flaky texture. The other pastries were enjoyable too, though the strawberry pastry wasn't a hit for us since the flavor leaned a bit too artificial.

Stopped in early before classes today -- glad I did so! I grabbed a cold brew and, to my surprise, it was actually really tasty! It had a strong coffee flavor and didn't feel watered down at all. I also grabbed a chocolate babka. It was relatively fresh and warm; the slice they cut was pretty big and it was delicious. Loved the sugar rush to start the morning. My only critique is there was very limited options for food. There were only two or three things to order. [[HIGHLIGHT]]Other than that, the restaurant was clean, staff was friendly, and I will likely be back![[ENDHIGHLIGHT]]

We got an assortment of baked goods here, and ate it across several days for breakfast. The food is good, and I wish I had the chance to try everything fresh...but it was just too much food for us to have in one sitting. Pastries were fresh and substantial in size. Flavors are great...one of my favorites was the squared bread filled with mushrooms! [[HIGHLIGHT]]The storefront is clean and bright.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Staff is friendly. Parking is a nightmare, but there are some metered spots right out front. I'd try them again to see what else is good, too.

Although not inexpensive, the baked goods are reliably fresh and delicious. The 3 serving babka portions are enough to feed 8 people!

My…read morefriends and I usually plan one either the week before or after Thanksgiving, but most places that offer Thanksgiving catering only do so during the few days leading up to the big day. A couple of Friendsgivings ago I became determined to find a place where we could order catering in or around Newton where my friend hosts. After a little digging, I uncovered the gem that is Judith's Kitchen. Not only does Judith's Kitchen have oven roasted turkey breast and most of the standard Thanksgiving sides, but they have them year-round! Their full catering menu is quite extensive. That first year we ordered the turkey breast with gravy as well as the brussel sprouts, rosemary potatoes, and the butternut squash purée. The remaining sides we made ourselves. Let's just say everything was a massive hit. You pop everything in the oven to heat up and then they're ready to plate. It's so much nicer than making everything from scratch, especially the turkey. That quartet has become our regular Friendsgiving catering order. Placing an order is easy peasy as you do it with Judith herself (or you can do it online if you prefer). Just tell her what you want and for how many people and she'll let you know exactly the quantity you need. You do end up paying a bit of a premium considering we don't order a ton of food, but I think it's totally worth it for the convenience alone. I'd love to try their lunch offerings if I lived closer, but until then, Judith's Kitchen will be our go-to for Friendsgiving.

Friendly staff, petite space, numerous options. Best part: the vast array of sweets and iced tea…read moreoptions. And their large iced tea is actually large, unlike many places. (Thank you!) The chicken salad wrap was good, even though I'm not usually a fan of the grapes version. Huge chunks of real chicken breast cut into pieces, so you know it's the real deal. If you like it finely chopped, this isn't the one for you.

Arriving around 11-12 on a Saturday, my friends and I reserved a table at In House Cafe and received quick and efficient service from kind and informative servers. It's nice to note that the uniforms are also adorable and punchy. The food itself was absolutely phenomenal and my friends and I, despite ordering a VAST array of delicious items from pizza to pancakes, all agreed that the food was delicious and well worth the trip! The apple Cinnamon Pancakes were nearly to die for, warm and delicious, the batter seemed homemade, and honestly gets a solid 10/10. The same goes for my drink of choice, the iced caramel latte with oat milk. The bacon and eggs were as you'd expect and well executed. The Shakshuka was good and smelled amazing, but my only note would be that an addition of salt or a slight edge to the dish would bring it over the top- My friend who initially ordered the dish says that an addition of Feta cheese will do the trick, as she ordered a side of it to go on top. For my personal taste it was a 7.5/10. The pizza was a great serving size for 1-2 people in one sitting, or could easily be stretched out into multiple meals if needed. The fresh tasting vegetables brought the dish together, and the meal was happily enjoyed. and a pro tip; if you have leftovers i'd recommend reheating in an air-fryer for perfect crispy crust 9/10 The chocolate strawberry latte exceeded my expectations, as I am not a usual fan of chocolate strawberries, but this drink was a very pleasant surprise. It wasn't overly sweet or artificially flavored, and I couldn't help but ask my friend for a few sips throughout the meal. The bathrooms were VERY clean and VERY well maintained, and the restaurant is just a very quick walk away from the bus stop. Accessible by car but parking may be hard to find, so be aware if you choose to go by car. I would go back to boston soley for those pancakes! ONE thing I will note is that for three people our order came out to a bit over $100. You can feel free to interpret that as you so choose. I will say I was somewhat surprised, but NOT regretful! I'd still go back for the pancakes ‍

The service is always spot on, even when they get busy during the weekend brunch rush. (You should count on needing a reservation at those times.) Of course, none of that would matter if the food wasn't also excellent! We always order banana caramel pecan french toast for the group to share. The french toast on its own is custardy and delicious (unlike some places that just feel like dry bread), but the roasted bananas along with the buttery caramel and pecans take it to the next level. The fries are also the platonic ideal of a french fry that always surprise us: crispy, not greasy, and well seasoned, while still having a fluffy center. I often get the shakshuka or the aleppo-style eggs for my main, which are both delicious, veggie-forward, and filling. But the hidden gem is the oatmeal, which is packed with fruit, perfectly cooked, and creamy as can be. Since the food is halal, there are no pork products, and as a lover of regular bacon, I can say with confidence the beef bacon will surprise you with how similar it is! My vegetarian friends also love the variety of the options, and the meat eaters are always satisfied.
