I think this was a case of ordering wrong, but I didn't love my experience at Bettina's Bakery. I ordered the Honduran Baleada, which was a bit of a letdown. Almost $10 for a tortilla with beans and eggs feels like a bit of a ripoff. For some reason, I thought there would be a bit more to it. Each topping was extra, so if you wanted some meat and avocado, you'd be looking at almost $15 for a very small burrito. That being said, the shop was very cute and the service was all around solid, so I think it was a bit of user error on my part. I'd be open to giving them another chance. read more

This is an outstanding little bakery coffee shop, locally owned. I am here from Buffalo NY dropped wife and her gf at TJ Maxx. I needed coffee and didn't want a chain. Found this little gem and let me tell you 1000% recommend. From the friendly staff as they welcomed me in, to the food. Everything is backed and made in house. I had a breakfast sandwich on a biscuit. This is not a McDonalds biscuit. So big, fluffy and moist. Had to use a fork and knife at one point. Now the scones so many to choose from!!! I had the blueberry. One of the best things it's dog friendly. Your furbaby can come in and join you! read more

My favorite time of my morning is when I stop in here for either a blueberry muffin or a lemon scone, my two favorites. I've tried other scones and the breakfast sandwich and all are delicious. Looking forward to having the schnitzel sandwich one of these days :) The cafe is adorable in a quiet area of Newton with parking always available (in my experience). I'm always so happy to support small businesses ESPECIALLY when they deserve it. And Bettina definitely deserves it. read more

Great local spot! Pastries are always fresh and delicious, staff is very friendly and just a nice quiet atmosphere

Didn't get a chance to explore the menu much or go in person yet, but was given a Schnitzel Sandwich via take away and it was so good. Would eat again and will go out of my way to try more from here. read more

Bettina and Naum launched a specialty sandwhich for the bakery crawl. "El Jefe." The base is slow cooked shredded beef. This 100% a top sandwich in Boston. I think this may be better than a Sam La Grassas or La Cascias sandwhich. Get it. read more

I'm so glad we discovered this homey bakery. So far my husband and I have enjoyed the coffee & Americano (Fazenda), fresh out of the oven concha (fluffy and barely sweet how I like it), cheddar scallion scone, German apple cake (like a short crust apple pie), cinnamon roll (wish it had more cinnamon sugar filling), and the maple oat scone (crunchy on the outside and soft on the inside without being dry), and chicken cutlet sandwich. My favorite so far has been the guava & cheese brioche, and I was lucky enough to get one still warm around 10am Saturday. I really appreciate that the baked goods aren't too sweet and I'm looking forward to trying the muffins soon (I saw someone eating one packed full of blueberries)! I'm still not sure how a place serving food could not have a bathroom, but just know before you go...I wish they were open on Sundays. read more

Bettina’s Bakery - Yummy fluffy concha with a crunchy topping - Bakeries Near Me - Newton, Massachusetts

This is an ideal neighborhood bakery and coffee spot (if you can find it and then find parking!) Delicious scones and breakfast sandwich, great espresso, the schnitzel sandwich is really tasty, and the staff are all cheery and friendly, especially the proprietress, Bettina. Stop in here. You'll be glad you did. Everything is baked in-house, and there is a shelf of cookbooks to read while you enjoy your food and coffee. This place makes me wish I hadn't moved out of Newton! read more

Bettina's is the best bakery around. Freshly made pastries, food, and even the bread is homemade. The vibes are immaculate and the service is friendly. One of my favorite bakeries in the area! read more

We stopped specifically because my husband wanted a pastry and had planned to sit and enjoy but when we got there, there didn't seem to be a bathroom, so we had to go home after we ordered! What coffee shop doesn't have a bathroom? The 4 stars are because the chocolate croissant and berry crumb were spectacular. There is not much close parking - we parked at the church across the street because it wasn't Sunday. Don't know if that was ok, but used to park there to visit a friend in a past life and never had a problem then. read more

Mom and pop type shop bakery in a little neighborhood. Great to have this place as a go to on the weekend mornings. Wish their hours were more expanded. This is a relaxing place which is very homey and has a nice interior. Recommend the horchata cold brew. read more

Charming and friendly local place. Prefer it to Starbucks or Tatte. Good espresso. Very fresh and delicious pastries. They could add another table or two. Only real issue though is (for those of us with active bladders and/or large prostates) is a lack of a bathroom. Maybe they will let patrons use the employee bathroom in an emergency. I hope so. But I didn't ask. Next time I will take care of business before I get there. read more

We were on our way out of town and stopped at Bettina's Newton. The iced coffee my daughter ordered was so good I had to return and buy one for myself. The breakfast sandwich on brioche was SOOOO good and the Honduran Baleada was also GREAT! The register guy was wonderful- welcoming, accommodating, patient. Love, love, love the setting. Makes me want to go back to school so I can do my work there LOL! read more

What a lovely little family owned bakery! I believe the family is from Honduras given a few of the unique menu items. My favorite item was a drink that was half cold brew and half horchata. The coffee was light and the horchata's sweetness was just the right balance. It was so refreshing and different. The pastries were also fresh and there was a nice mix of familiar items and more unique items. We had the blueberry scone which was a bit different from other scones I've had in that it was moist and had a touch of salt in it. I liked it since I find most scones too dry. We also had the passionate fruit cake which was really moist and had such a bright, fruity icing to go along with it. Big fan. There was a small but diverse assortment of sandwiches for lunch that I wish we had a chance to try because they use homemade bread. Give it a try! Just be aware they have summer hours right now. I believe it is 7 am - 3 pm and only open Wed - Sun read more

Absolutely delicious pastries and I had a great cold brew/horchata. The service was great, as well!

Bettina's has a super cute atmosphere, very cozy. Brick wall and nice natural lighting. They have a communal bookshelf which I thought was a really nice addition for kids and families. I just got a muffin and coffee which was really good but would definitely want to try the food menu. They have things like egg sandwiches, tacos, salads, and more. Employees were really friendly. Good vibes would come back. Indoor seating a bit limited. read more

Great coffee and Blueberry Muffin! Quantity of coffee was a bit less than expected but taste and quality was great. Love to support a small local community business! read more

This café is just plain lovely! My wife and I especially enjoy relaxing over an Earl Grey tea and a café mocha--the best mocha, in my opinion, in this whole region--and a couple of conchas. Occasionally, we treat ourselves to one of the other fancier items: a slice of their delicious chocolate mousse cake, or their Tres Leches or a muffin. And when the super-friendly owners and staff are free enough, we enjoy talking with them about family or news or puppies (they set out a water bowl for your pup). Their breakfast and lunch sandwiches are also great. In fact, nothing about Bettina's isn't great! read more

I am pretty obsessed with this place. I can't explain it but when I'm in here I forget that I'm in newton. It's like a cute spot you'd stumble upon on vacation or something. It's a place where you'd want to hang out in and slowly enjoy your espresso. And the food....You can taste the love that goes into it. Everything is great. read more

Passed this place many times, and wondered about it. Finally heard from someone I trust that it's amazing. It is. Have been twice and had the baleada with avocado - insanely good, and the tortilla had to have been made from scratch as apparently all baked goods there are. Tea was packed with lemony flavor, and also clearly homemade. read more

Food service vibe-LOVE!! Second time here. First time had amaze scone and iced Indy. Today I had the Honduran Baleada-soft flour tortilla made in house-omg-so soft fresh warm got refried beans eggs and avo along -I was literally speechless at how good it was! Also got an iced "Indy" (1/2 cold brew, 1/2 horchata). This is a small sunny cafe with a relaxed & cozy vibe. Love the sunny windows with the big inviting cushions. What a fantastic locally owned bakery/breakfast/coffee owned by the nicest people. Phenomenal scores, muffins and pastries and awesome high quality coffees and other drinks (try the horchata, a traditional Central American sweet rice milk and cinnamon drink - theirs is the best we've had).
