They had a decent selection of whole cakes, though it did feel a bit smaller than what we've seen at some of their other area shops. The cafe itself is spacious and clean, with plenty of seating if you want to stay and eat. They have the usual array of pastries and decent bread options on offer. Service is lousy, order a hot latte, it was just lightly warm. Even there is 2 servers, one is working hard. The other one just hold the cash register, didn't try to help the co-worker. The point it's not even very busy. read more

This Tous Les Jours is my favorite one. It's so big and beautiful compared too the others I've been to in Boston. There's ample room to sit and study or socialize, it's very clean and open, and most importantly, the customer service is amazing. I tend to find the other locations borderline unfriendly. This one is super friendly and accommodating. I ordered a cake for my sons birthday, and it was so seamless. The food here is also really yummy. Highly recommend this location. read more

Nice coffee shop and bakery in Newton. How it works is you grab a tray and serve yourself the pastries. Drinks are ordered at the counter. Interior is classy and clean. We got a donut filled with chocolate cream. It was so rich and delicious. My shakerato drink wasn't the best but they remade it for me and the second time was better. Had a nice stop-in before classes earlier today. I was pretty surprised that the place was empty -- there is ample seating and it has a great atmosphere for reading/studying. The space is very large and well-lit. The staff was friendly and welcoming. The choice of food was really great, I was surprised by the number of options available for pastries. I went with a Coffee Bun -- it ended up being a bit underwhelming flavor-wise but was a nice snack regardless. I also ordered the "Shakerato" which is a shaken espresso drink. Had a cranberry cream cheese bun; it was quite delightful, soft in the inside and limited sweetness which allowed the textures and the cranberry flavor to shine through. The layout of the cafe space could use some work - there seems to be significant amt. of empty space and only a few table and chairs. Coffee was yummy! Tasted like lavender and had a good foam ratio. Cashier was friendly. This is a great spot to study and get some work done as it's super open, bright, and the seating is comfy. They also have a higher seating area, so if you like to stand for a bit it works out. read more

Standard Tous Les Jours fare. As I was leaving, I told the attendant that the table was dirty and sticky, to the point where my arm actually stuck to it. I asked her to clean it And I was blown off. She told me they clean it all the time and it can't come clean because of the materials. Sorry, sticky means sugar residue. The table was filthy...and apparently still is! read more

Really fancy place that we frequent for their birthday cakes. We recently tried some of their pastries and were pretty happy with them. I'm not sure of the names for each of them, but one of our favorites is the twisted sugar donut, the chocolate croissant, and the donut filled with meat. read more

Coffee was delicious, staff was nice but honestly the place is very dirty. The walls literally have coffee stains dripping down the wall and the floors were dirty. Even while looking up while i was picking up my coffee, i noticed the wall above the clock is extremely dirty. I personally don't feel confortable returning because if the walls are so dirty it makes me question the hygiene of the food. Simply wonderful. Though pricey, this is offset by many others gactors. Spacious seating, delicious & unique pastries, great drinks. There is so much that this location gets right, no wonder it's growing in popularity. Of the many items I've tried since its opening, my favorites are: Ube Latte, Tiramisu Latte, the Milk Cream Breads, and the Croquettes. My largest qualm is the bathrooms do not have baby changing tables. When I first visited, there were more sweet options than savory... It looks like that's slowly changing, but the menu could still use more savory options. Also, the hot chocolate is more milky than chocolatey... Could be more decadent. All in all, highly recommend. A great brunch-to-late-evening hangout spot. read more

This place is so hit or miss. Sometimes the pastries taste fresh, sometimes they taste like they went bad. And the staff is the most apathetic, slow moving staff. I once waited over 15 minutes for a drink that was made wrong and had to be made again. If you like gambling this place is definitely sometimes worth it, but when it's not, the fact that it's Newton pricing makes it an even tougher pill to swallow those times. read more

This review is for their cakes. I had planned to order from Icing on the Cake but they require a 2-week lead time which I didn't have. I don't like airy Asian cakes, but decided to try Tous Les Jours because I like their croissants. Ordered their buttercream heart chocolate cake, thinking it would be less airy than their "cloud" or "mousse" cakes. Packaging was classy: high quality box with tall and short candles, matches, and plastic cake server. However, I found the cake too light and had little chocolate flavor. Even the decorations are milk chocolate. I prefer a heavier texture cake and much more chocolate flavor. It's not to my liking. read more

But the cake I picked on Monday proved to be exactly the one I saw in the display counter two days before, totally over refrigerated and tasted like a trash. Never back again! I got the chocolate cloud cake and I can't believe how awful it looked. I used to get it at the Burlington location and the cake was super tasty with the right cake to cream ratio. However, since I didn't want to drive all the way to Burlington, I decided to try getting the cake at the Newton location, think they would be the same. I can't be more wrong! Every time I am in Boston I always try to make an effort to come here. Their pastries are absolutely delightful! They have a few locations in the city but this particular location is my favorite. It has a great selection of breads and pastries. Inside is particularly cute in their own little way. The seating area is comfy and very modern. My fav item there would be the cranberry cream cheese bread. It is so pillowy soft! That is a must try! Check out is always a breeze as well. Happy eating! read more

With $3.5 per small bread, it's really not worth it, the bread itself is dry, the cream inside is too rich to taste, the melon bread can't tasted melon, only the mocha rasin loaf tastes good among our purchase. Based on service provided, and differing menu options from online verses in the store. I keep a list of restaurants that I want to visit, and Tous Les Jours was one of them. When my calendar freed up, allowing me to visit, I was ecstatic. I arrived in the morning and no one was there except two workers. I looked around to see if I wanted anything additional than what I planned on ordering, per the online menu. There were so many interesting options and I quickly noticed that after scanning the offerings, no one greeted me, asked if I needed help, literally, not one word. I pushed through and went to the counter to place an order and as I arrive at the counter, one of the workers looks at me intently and doesn't say anything. This is a good time to say, "hi", "what can i get for you?", or something else fitting. Despite this, I ask for a sandwich that I saw online and was told the store doesn't have it. I questioned if they were out of stock, or don't carry it at all. I was told the person didn't know what I was speaking about, and they don't have the item.
