Good soup! It was a cold day so I stopped in for a cup of soup. This is a lovely bakery with quality sandwiches, soups, and baked goods! There are a few tables inside but it definitely is more of a take away place. The staff were friendly and efficient. I got a medium cup of lemon chicken rice soup and a ham and cheese croissant. The soup was full of fresh ingredients and delicious. The croissant was flaky and cheesy - what more could you want! Their special today was chicken pot pie, which looked wonderful. My office regularly gets lunch from here so I know they can handle large orders well. Great spot! read more

I went in to this bakery to get a chocolate chip muffin, I asked politely and then she told me that she would up charge me because I didn't have cash. I wish the decor was more upbeat and brighter - it seems like it's a bit tough to find this place. The choco croissant was a bit too sweet for my liking, though it's really professionally done. The quiche was more underwhelming, as there was minimal vegetable in the quiche, and in general felt too bland, too much egg, not enough flavor. Crust was also not as flaky as I'd anticipated. Sought out bakeries in Wellesley 'hood and yelp directed me to Wellesley Bakery. Many reviews highlight the croissants and they did not disappoint. Visited around early afternoon during a weekday and had limited flavors left. Opted for an apricot croissant and apple pastry. Dough was so flaky and buttery, best croissants I've had an awhile. Apple filling was skin-on, which added to the softness of the apple while still keeping its structure. Would visit again! read more

I saw the review of this bakery, so I wanted to give it a try myself. I had the ham and cheese quiche and the chilled gazpacho soup, and both were good. The quiche was a bit on the dry side, but I think I was there near the end of their day, so it may have been better in the morning. Also, I brought home some of their croissants, but since it was later in the day, there wasn't as much to choose from. However, I have the feeling that I would have no complaints if I had come in the morning. Will have to try again another time. But the staff people were really nice and friendly and helpful. And I could tell that there were many regular customers coming in, because the staff seemed to know them and would chitchat with them. Sorta like going to Cheers! read more

Yesterday I was in Wellesley and stopped into the Wellesley Bakery for lunch. I ordered a special they offer of 1/2 sandwich and a cup of soup for $7.30 plus tax. The total was $7.80. I asked for roasted chicken on multi-grain bread and a cup of chicken vegetable soup. The sandwich had two full size slices of bakery fresh bread, chopped romaine lettuce and tomato slices. There was over 1/4 pound of warm, freshly roasted sliced chicken in the sandwich. This was the best chicken sandwich I have ever had. I took a bite of it before I took the photo because I couldn't wait! They offered five or six different homemade soups and the chicken vegetable had a lightly seasoned tomato base with large pieces of chicken, peas, celery, hand cut carrots and mushrooms, corn and I think there was also zucchini in it. Have you ever purchased "Grandma's Chicken Soup" at Whole Foods? Wellesley Bakery's chicken vegetable soup was 100X better. I believe that they sell their soup by the cup, pint and quart. This bakery is woman owned and operated. The owners are extremely nice and they work very hard to retain your business. If you haven't been here before, stop by. If you are a regular customer, let others know about this bakery. They bake cookies, muffins and croissants on a daily basis. Everything they sell is freshly made and delicious! Wellesley Bakery is one of the true treasures in Wellesley Village. Their French roast coffee and almond croissants have gotten me through many mornings. Likewise, their Caesar salad with roast chicken is the best you will ever have. Their baked goods case and soup and sandwich selections make it the best cafe in the Metro West area. Also, if you are lucky enough to be there while they still have their fresh Vietnamese summer rolls at lunchtime, grab one or two. Pretty ok -- if it's within walking distance and you're looking for a fresh croissant, they're not terribly authentic but it's nice to have a fresh pastry nearby. If it's a sandwich you're seeking you should really go to Linden or Tutto Italiano instead. read more

So I got the turkey club wrap today, and it was just ok. The wrap itself I feel like is what made it pretty bland. I feel like I could make a much better wrap myself at home easily. Wellesley Bakery is an absolute gem. Everything they sell is fresh and incredibly delicious, but without question they have the best soup I have ever had in my entire life. They have several soup options to choose from each day, and they're all out of this world. My personal favorites are the chicken lemon rice and chicken vegetable. They also have incredibly croissants, great quiches, etc. Plus, the team is incredibly friendly and helpful. I've lived in Wellesley for 2.5 years and LOVE bakeries but I hadn't ever been here. There isn't much street parking, but there are lots just past the store (if you're driving by and it's on your right, turn right on the side street just past it). It's has a somewhat nondescript/rundown outward appearance and it's easy to miss, but inside is quaint. And the pastries were good! Around 10am on Saturday they were out of chocolate croissants, but I picked up an apricot croissant, plain croissant, and chocolate chip cookie. I have lived in Wellesley exactly 18 months, and today I finally discovered Wellesley Bakery. What a special place. I called and told them this was my first time, and she suggested the roasted chicken sandwich on multigrain with all the fixings. I opted to the 1/2 sandwich and soup. The soup was a Chicken lemon rice. Wow. I am going to have dreams about that soup. I want to go back tomorrow. SO. MUCH. FLAVOR. It was so much food and very reasonable price. Nice quiet bakery in Wellesley. Bring cash if you go. The place is small but has a few tables to sit down and eat or chat with friends. Ordered a chocolate croissant and was quite filling and delicious. They also offer other baked goods like muffins and other croissants and have coffee and sandwiches though I've only visited once, so I can't vouch for those. If you go on the weekend, there's a parking lot nearby that's free if parallel parking/parking on the street isn't your cup of tea. read more

Downtown Wellesley is definitely cute, and we therefore thought that there should be a cute little cafe too! Well this bakery is fine, there really isn't anything wrong with it--the service was great, she was very nice, made us fresh coffee instead of giving us old coffee, etc. But there just was something off about this place for me and I kind of thought they would have more bakery/pastry options than what they had. I mean if you call yourself Wellesley Bakery, the name sake of the town, I would think that you would have pretty big shoes to fill, and I don't think that you really actually filled them up quite right. Our coffee was fine and cheap which is awesome. Then we got their last pecan roll of the day around 2pm on a Saturday--I guess they don't stock up on too many pastries, and it was pretty good, the pecans especially, but nothing to write home about if you know what I mean. It did fill the hole in Matt J's stomach craving a dessert, but I found it pretty easy to avoid stealing pieces of his pastry which if it were that good of a pastry then I would have had much more difficulty ha ha Overall, this place is fine, but I don't know if I would venture back necessarily. Usually, I've experienced good roll-up sandwiches here, but today, I'm hungry, and it's because I couldn't even eat the sandwich I ordered here. Yes, it was $6.25 (a great deal for half a sandwich and homemade soup), but what's price if it's inedible? They were out of bread, so it was put on a stale roll-up, and though it was supposed to be tarragon chicken it tasted like chopped chicken with Lowery Salt -- nothing like Tarragon! Maybe it was an off day? I couldn't eat more than one bite. Other times I've been here, I've ordered the turkey roll-up or tuna salad, and it's been just fab. If you want to come here, you have to keep your eye out because the place is very small and unassuming. On weekdays they tend to close pretty early (around 3pm), so come for lunch! I've always gotten wraps here for takeout, and they are amazing. I always get the chicken wrap with avocado and bacon -- SO good -- and I love the sprouts in them! The cookies are also delicious.
