    Apricot croissant
    Sam E.

Sought out bakeries in Wellesley 'hood and yelp directed me to Wellesley Bakery. Many reviews highlight the croissants and they did not disappoint. Visited around early afternoon during a weekday and had limited flavors left. Opted for an apricot croissant and apple pastry. Dough was so flaky and buttery, best croissants I've had an awhile. Apple filling was skin-on, which added to the softness of the apple while still keeping its structure. Would visit again!

    Absolute amazingly delicious croissants.

I drive from North shore just for my cravings and this place is so worth it. Their croissants are delicious and makes you wanting more. If your in Wellesley, MA and looking for a quick bite or lunch try their fresh salads, soups and sandwiches. You will leave feeling satisfied!

Roasted chicken sandwich on multi grain bread.
    Valerie K.

Yesterday I was in Wellesley and stopped into the Wellesley Bakery for lunch. I ordered a special they offer of 1/2 sandwich and a cup of soup for $7.30 plus tax. The total was $7.80. I asked for roasted chicken on multi-grain bread and a cup of chicken vegetable soup. The sandwich had two full size slices of bakery fresh bread, chopped romaine lettuce and tomato slices. There was over 1/4 pound of warm, freshly roasted sliced chicken in the sandwich. This was the best chicken sandwich I have ever had. I took a bite of it before I took the photo because I couldn't wait! They offered five or six different homemade soups and the chicken vegetable had a lightly seasoned tomato base with large pieces of chicken, peas, celery, hand cut carrots and mushrooms, corn and I think there was also zucchini in it. Have you ever purchased "Grandma's Chicken Soup" at Whole Foods? Wellesley Bakery's chicken vegetable soup was 100X better. I believe that they sell their soup by the cup, pint and quart. This bakery is woman owned and operated. The owners are extremely nice and they work very hard to retain your business. If you haven't been here before, stop by. If you are a regular customer, let others know about this bakery. They bake cookies, muffins and croissants on a daily basis. Everything they sell is freshly made and delicious! I'm going to be coming back here on a regular basis even if I don't have business to conduct in Wellesley.

Walking in, the space itself made an impression before I even got to the pastry case. The decor felt warm and inviting, and the display of breads and pastries made the ordering process genuinely difficult because everything looked exactly as good as it should. I worked through a solid spread across my visit. The croissant is exceptional, with a proper lamination and a buttery, flaky exterior that holds up on its own without needing anything added to it. The almond croissant takes that foundation and builds on it well, with a generous amount of almond filling and a finish that does not lean too sweet. The pain au chocolat follows the same standard, the chocolate inside is good quality and the pastry around it has the right amount of crispness without being dry. The canele is a smaller order but worth including, with that characteristic caramelized exterior giving way to a soft, custardy center that is easy to underestimate until you are halfway through it. The creme brulee latte rounded out the order nicely and was a good match for everything on the pastry side of the table. It is rich without being overwhelming and complements the food rather than competing with it. The line moved well even when the place was busy, and the staff were friendly and engaged throughout. This is one of the better French style bakeries I have found in the area, and it holds up to that comparison without much debate.

I got outside and inside was not the apple tart danish but an apricot? They were on counter next to each and server probably thought I said apricot or my finger pointing was mistaken for the apricot...should separate as both sound alike..... stick the blueberry ones in middle or something . I ate the apricot as I had before and it was very good as always, the blueberry muffin I wasn't impressed at all with... it had minimal blueberries, a bit dry , a mild nice lemon flavor of top ... I need more blueberries, more moisture, more lemon taint taste, more sugaring top brown white, cinnamon Glaze. Now I saw how un Green friendly they are here... expensive shopping bag for 2 pastries , a cardboard box for the apricot danish, a bag for the single muffin... a lot of unneeded cost factored into COGS or packaging materials and then into my prices paid. I saw assortment of delicious eclairs and looks price went up higher since I bought here before... up to 8.50 or higher . Great products sold here...I dropped my rating as got what I didn't order, and muffin needs vast improvements to get it to levels of the French pastries. Need tables, umbrellas, chairs outside... people sitting on curbs, me standing next to trash barrel for my packaging debris, on line ordering and pickup might speed up the line , but I like to see the daily changes or variety before ordering ...the pineapple dessert first I saw and would have been my dinner dessert. Friendly employees and working owner there keeping things filled . They have outgrown the store size.

I found out it's a Massachusetts ice cream chain with locations in Boston, Brookline, Cambridge, Somerville, Newton, Wellesley, Andover, Lynnfield, and Dedham. When you walk into their colorful store, you'll see the big menu board highlighting their frozen treats - Ice Cream & Hard Yogurt Flavors, Soft & Tart Yogurt Flavors, Frappes, Smoothies, Dairy Free Drinks, Toppings, Sundaes, Splits, and more. We saw ice cream cakes and pies, ice cream sandwiches, cupcakes and so much more. They even have a coffee bar with hot breakfast & snacks like oatmeal, waffles, croissant and egg sandwiches, etc. I went into their Feature Flavors menu and was delighted to find a personal favorite - Orange Chocolate Chip "Creamy orange ice cream with soft, dark chocolate chips". It was outstanding. My wife went with a dish of Coconut Almond Chip - "Ultra coconut creamy ice cream with sweet, shredded coconut, roasted salted almonds, and semisweet chocolate chips in this chewy-crunchy textural delight". I sampled it and enjoyed it more than mine! Small cups ran over $5 apiece, so be forewarned. The young crew working at J.P. Licks was friendly and fun to chat with. We took one of their tables at the front of the store and the six of us enjoyed our excellent ice cream.

It is an order at the register/counter type spot, so you can easily order for there or to go. The staff working were friendly and had quick turnaround times. There was also a fancy coffee station where they made the fancy espressos, cappuccinos, etc. There were various seating options - it was crowded when we went so it was kind of hard to find a spot, but we managed. We ordered small and got a muffin and lemon poppyseed bread slice and two cold brew coffees. We technically ordered for there so they served them on sturdy plates. For your cold brews and regular coffees, they had a coffee-condiment station - ie creamers, oat milk, sugars, etc. plus silverware, napkins, etc. and the cleanup bins for when you are done with you meals. The muffin and bread were delicious - the poppyseed had a nice lemon glaze! I would definitely consider going back to try some other bakery items and something from the kitchen. It had a nice, upscale but casual vibe and seems like a hot spot place for the area.

I know the staff well at this store and loved shopping here for not only the convenience but the small town/local market type of environment. The Assistant Store Manager Jose completely shattered my trust. In July, Assistant Manager Jose stepped in to address an incident I had with a cashier on store policy (after I had already connected with corporate about it). He vehemently apologized and even purchased me a bottle of wine as an apology. He reassured me that he would speak to the cashiers about it going forward. On Friday, he denied it all and implied it was a one time exception. What upset me most isn't the store policy - I understand and respect that. It was the dishonesty and lack of clear communication. Had management politely communicated in July that this was an exception instead of providing me with a gift and false sense of reassurance it would have drastically changed the circumstances. A manager should stand behind his word or at least address discrepancies with respect. Instead, he denied our conversation happened and he did it in front of staff members I've built relationships with over years. After 6 years of loyalty, I feel completely disrespected. I'm heartbroken because this store meant something to me - it felt like home. I can't trust a business where management lacks integrity.

Served fresh from the oven, they were light, airy, and beautifully golden on the outside with a soft interior. They paired perfectly with butter and jam, and it is impressive how something so simple can be so satisfying when it is made well. The portion size was generous, and considering the quality, I thought they offered excellent value. The rest of the menu is just as appealing if you are looking for a more substantial meal. The breakfast and lunch sandwiches are made with fresh ingredients and are generously filled, making them much more than a side to the bakery items.
