Was looking for a quick breakfast in the area and a receptionist recommended this place. Great little find! I had a breakfast sandwich with bacon, avocado, cheese on an English muffin. Got the home fries as well. All fresh and delicious. I believe the English muffin was house made, definitely not store bought. Home fries were also very good, grilled not fried. A small cafe style shop, with great quality food. My first and lasting impression of this place is that it was clean, organized, and well displayed. The staff was helpful and respectful. We are back here again having previously tried & enjoyed the BBQ. This time we were having sandwiches as the recent massive snows had prevented them from smoking overnight. My wife had the Mediterranean, one of the several Gourmet sandwiches, this featuring grilled chicken breast, Romaine lettuce, red onions, hummus, roasted red peppers with lemon oregano dressing on rosemary focaccia bread. The chicken is marinated and steals the show! Delicious! We tried a few of the small bags of gourmet chips from companies I had never heard of and they were a great compliment. Also had the local bottled cream soda & root beer. For dessert we split a massive Oatmeal Raisin cookie. Chewy insides and a nice crunch to the edges. Try to share this could cause marriages to fail, buy one for each and get fat but stay happy! The staff are just gems. Long lines don't rile them, as they calm, friendly and take care of YOU! This time we went in with a Groupon, and because of the many Boston snow storms we had delayed trip after trip as the expiration date came & went. But they honored the Groupon, which not every restaurant will do! These are people, taking care of people. So nice to find! One last comment about the food. The ingredients are fresh, items are homemade, and all with care and craft. I travel a lot for work and always look for small neighborhood spots that locals know about. I saw this place on a generic search and "Cajun roast beef sandwich " caught my eye. I arrived to a super small shack type local place with some tables outside and a line to the door. The menus looked so good I almost abandoned my first choice. I ordered the Cajun roast beef and lemon chick soup. Service was fast and with a smile. The roast beef was perfectly rare and melted in your mouth and the flavoring was amazing. It wasn't super spicy so it was perfect for me. The soup was very tasty and had rice , chicken, and a perfect lemon taste. This place obviously isn't a secret by the constant flow of customers. I didn't take a picture because I ate the sandwich quickly But the webpage pictures are accurate. I'll have to remember this place. For next time I am up this way. One word of advice. Come here now! I eat here regularly for work, as our building is across the street and its the only "healthy" option near by. I would give it one star for service, I've been double charged here before, and the resolution from the man I'm assuming was the manager was awesome, but the lady who is always at the cash register (I'm assuming another manager, or the owner) is extremely unpleasant. She's often rude, impatient, short, and never welcoming. God forbid you call to adjust your order or change something, it will be an inconvenience to her. The delivery's pretty much never show up on time, and I feel like its very over priced for what you get. Being the only option of healthy food in the area you would assume they offered more vegetarian or vegan friendly options, you assume wrong. The vegetarian is limited, the vegan is non existent. Soup of the day ALWAYS contains meat/seafood. The food like I mentioned is fine, although it seems like most of the salads, sides, and more meal type options are made ahead of time, so customizing them becomes an issue. I just wish they would charge less if they are going to continue to serve small portions, and not be all that impressive. read more

When I worked in an office nearby I came to Express Gourmet regularly. 3.5 stars? Come on, this place is way better than that. It's pretty much the only lunch place around with healthy food and vegetarian options. The staff is super friendly, they really are great guys, and they'll switch items around and customize your order for you. In the summer you can sit outside where they have tables setup. Or even better, get your food to go and sit by the river!! They have benches there, and sometimes you'll get some ducks and geese coming by, plus there's a fantastic view, and you're out in nature for your lunch break, what can be better than that!? read more

Express Gourmet has been a staple in my life for the past year or so. I started working at an office park around the corner in July 2019 and since day 1 I have been going to express gourmet for a Greek salad or a blackened chicken sandwich EVERY DAY. The staff are all incredibly friendly and nice but the manager Byron is exceptional. He has greeted me by name for the past year daily, with a smile on his face and great conversation. When COVID hit and I was one of the only customers coming in regularly, the staff still never failed to keep an upbeat attitude. I am no longer working in Wellesley but I will miss express gourmet and Byron especially so much. I could not recommend this place more - their paninis are delicious and the portion sizes are super filling. read more

I work in this area and it's my favorite place to grab a quick lunch. There are many places on Route 16 for lunch and this place definitely has the best soups. They're all made fresh daily, and they let you try samples of them before you make a purchase. They offer 3 different kinds daily. They have great lunch specials too. My favorite is a chicken kabob served on a skewer (with 4 very large pieces of chicken) with onions and peppers, over a generous serving of rice pilaf, and a side garden salad. All for only $8.99 - you can't beat it. It's so much food, I've never been able to finish it at lunch, I end up taking it home and having it for my dinner too. I work near here and I go all the time. The food is very bland and overpriced. I tried their chicken parm panini and there was no sauce, the chicken wasn't breaded and there was more cheese than there was chicken. I've had their salads and they are good but still overpriced. The only other items I've tried is their BLT and normally its very good but occasionally they burn the bacon and it turns out awful. One of their employees has two sides irritated and angry. If you are lucky most of the time she'll be irritated otherwise prepare for an attitude. read more

They have REAL breakfast sandwiches (as opposed to Dunkin Donuts' microwaved eggs!) and they are even less expensive, too! What I really like about this place is that you can get a simple sandwich if you want, but it's the "gourmet" sandwiches I'm there for! Express Gourmet is a decent lunch spot for office workers around the Wellesley/Newton Lower Falls area. They have a nice variety of sandwiches, grilled paninis, daily special dishes, and salads. Expect to pay around 6 to 8 bucks for a sandwich or wrap, so they aren't the cheapest around. I think the prices are keeping me from granting them another star. I like the Route 16 sandwich: roast beef, garlic and herbs, caramelized onions on a baguette and be sure to get it toasted! There's also a breakfast menu, some dessert items like baklava and cookies. I have been here a bunch of times and have had delivery as well. The menu is pretty good. They have a good variety of wraps / sandwiches / salads, and you can also creat your own. I find that my order is often wrong if I get it delivered. It's usually missing at least one thing that the description says it includes. As far as the place itself, it's tiny. They need a bigger space and more staffing. Definitely can't eat there. Parking is a nightmare, often I have waited 20+ minutes to get a spot at lunchtime. If I get it delivered, I have to order no later than 10:30am if I want it between 12-1230. Their chocolate chip cookies will always have me coming back because they are the best chocolate chip cookies I've ever had ! read more

I had a Restaurant.com certificate giving me $20 worth of food for $10. The restaurant was happy to accept this, some places are rude about it. They have pre made salads in a case, but if they are out of what you want, they'll make it. I had a Greek salad, made to order and my friend had the Field Greens. She had a side of tuna salad, which was fantastic. Not heavy on mayo at all, but very flavorful. We shared a peanutbutter cup cookie, which was huge and really tasty. There are 3 tables inside and 4-5 outside with umbrellas. We sat outside on a beautiful day. This is not a fancy place, but the food is fresh and delicious and the service is polite and quick.
