Three scrambled eggs over corned beef hash extra crispy bacon and rye toast
Jenny H.

Just want to start off saying that I'm not usually a fan of diner style Americana breakfast but this place was great! Definitely a hidden gem in this area and so happy we stumbled upon it randomly today. All the food hit the spot and wasn't greasy like a lot of diners I've been to. I asked for bacon extra crispy and it was perfect. The corned beef hash had crispness and wasn't overly salty like a lot of places. Everyone was super nice and loved that our water cups had ice. Definitely coming back!

All Veggie and Cheese Omelet and breakfast set

such a local gem! i passed by this place all the time but i never stepped foot in until now. the space is small and homey, feels like a family owned restaurant so i had a feeling it was going to be good. prices are reasonable considering how big of a portion you get. we ordered the breakfast set where you can choose how many eggs, type of toast, and side of meat, plus it comes with the home fries which when i tasted it are cooked in their bacon fat, so delish! additionally we ordered the veggie and cheese omelette which was so gigantic i could barely finish it. it had american cheese, personally i prefer a stringier cheese but this was still solid. a no frills restaurant, reliable, hearty, and worth the price. service was quick and friendly. i would definitely come back here again, it's going to have a special place in my heart.

The food was excellent - salmon, steak, salad - etc. Salmon arrived the way my friends asked for it as did the steak. Our waitress, Kendra, was top notch. She not only knew the menu really well but helped us with wine selection. She was very attentive but not hovering and we would request her again. Definitely going back!!

This was our first time going since it had opened as the Fireside Tavern. It is fair to say we were underwhelmed. My wife ordered a Dirty Martini and it had a lot of vermouth in it which is not the correct way to prepare it. For an appetizer we got the Calamari which was very good. Crispy and tender with delicious hot peppers added in as well. For the main courses we got the Chicken Piccata severed over Gnocchi which was good but nothing special. Gnocchi were a bit denser than we like. Our other main was the Seafood Paella. On the plus side it had a lot of seafood in it, mussels, Shrimp, Scallops and a white fish. All of the sish was cooked well and was tender and juicy. However it did not appear to be cooked in a Paella pan so you didn't get some of those bites of crispy rice and the seasoning was off it had no saffron or tomatoes like I am used to. It was more like a plain rice that they added peas, carrots, and red pepper. Just didn't taste like any form of the paella that I have eaten previously. Jenna our server was awesome and attentive but not overbearing. She was fantastic and made for an enjoyable evening.

We ordered the salads and all look fresh and very good ingredients. We were never offered fresh bread as I usually are? My weekday lunches with my tuna melt issue ; always offered fresh hot excellent bread? I ordered the Ceasar salad with chicken . It was a good , not a real great salad , it was fresh and was a decent replacement for my tuna melt. But I wanted more of an authentic Caesar taste with an anchovies or Dijon, worchershire, egg and a normal stronger Caesar salad taste, shaved parmesan taste... like I've had elsewhere . It needs more flavor to the salad . it was ok but was just ok .... Dressing may have been out of bottle Caesar salad dressing. My guests their salad selections both looked well prepared . I missed my hot bread to eat as an accompli-ant to an any salad. It is a great dining environment and consistently good.

Interior is clean, a bland and to me unappealing modern aesethic. Service is atrocious. Sat down (with a reservation), ordered food. Took an hour til something arrived. No contact really after the initial seating and ordering. No water refills, no bread until right before the food dropped. I think they literally forgot us; surprising since we weren't exactly in a far off corner. Forget your money, this place isn't worth your TIME.

I ordered the Bourbon Steaktips Tortellini -- tender bourbon-marinated steak tips served over cheese tortellini in a rich truffle cream sauce with spinach and red peppers, topped with shaved parmesan and toasted garlic bread. Everything was cooked perfectly. The steak tips were incredibly tender, and the bourbon flavor paired surprisingly well with the creamy sauce and perfectly al dente tortellini. Service was excellent from start to finish, and our waitress was attentive and friendly all night. They also have a very solid beer list -- seeing Maine Beer Co. Peepers on tap was a nice bonus. The Reuben was good, not excellent, and was quite large, so I took 1/2 home. And the clam chowder was served in a big bowl, but the recipe needed more potato and clam, less flour. Still, this was world's better than my cooking, so I'll be back to other things on the menu. And, the people who work here are lovely. It makes the entire experience enjoyable.
