We have been to Primavera several times now and are rarely disappointed. My recent meal was outstanding. I had a special seafood dish with papperadelli noodles. Very flavorful and a generous portion for an affordable price. As I am allergic to scallops I asked if the chef would be able to remove them. I was pleasantly surprised to find that he did. Very large shrimp and swordfish pieces filled it out. Service is slow but fine with us giving us time to relax and enjoy our drinks. i highly recommend it. read more

Tried this restaurant for the first time with another couple. Inside is very nice and clean. They have an early bird special on Wed and Thursday. A great menu which includes app, entree, and dessert for $26. We all had something different and everyone enjoyed what they ordered. Portions were amazing; everyone took food home. The reason for the three star review is that the service was horrible. It was not a busy night at all, but we had to continually ask the server for everything. Sat for probably 45 mins before I eventually got her attention and we placed our order. Drinks sat empty until I again had to ask for another round ( drinks were good as well). We took our desserts to go because we were tired of sitting there. I understand it's hard to get good help, but this place is in desperate need of better servers. Easily a 4 or 5 star restaurant if they could figure this out. I would try it again, maybe sit at the bar to see if service is better there. read more

ok. so. i have periodically gone here for 20 years with mixed results. i have gotten family sized takeouts of eggplant parmigiana- which was excellent. this week, got fried calamari. the menu said it came with sliced cherry peppers. it came without them. i was lied and told they were in it fried like the squid. there were none of those either. and that's not how it's supposed to be done anyway. ordered ziti with eggplant parmigiana and got overcooked, mushy angel hair pasta. the eggplant was horribly mushy and tasteless too. i ate none and tool it home to throw away. the dinner was for my wife's birthday so i didn't send everything back. this was my last adventure with Primavera. read more

This place is a bit of an enigma. I've been going here for over 10 years now due to convenience (i live right down the road and its easy), and I've been to weddings, parties, holidays, and mostly just dinner. It is ok to good, but could so easily become great if they actually tried. Short summary of my long term experiences: 1) the food is almost always good. Sometimes bad, sometimes excellent, but usually "good" (think, a 7 on a 1-10 scale). 2) pasta is more consistent, i find the protein (especially steak) very inconsistent, their cooks don't really know how to make something "Medium rare" vs. "well done" . 3) their prices, in many cases, try to emulate a high end Italian restaurant in Boston, but they are not that. 4) they seem to try to justify the above pricing with portion sizes, which is just ridiculous. - Don't charge me $30 for a pasta meal and then give me enough pasta for 3-4 people, its such a waste. Charge me $15, give me pasta for 1 person, you make more profit and i don't waste food. 5) service is always the worst thing here. I'm not sure, but i assume this is family and/or VERY long term employees that just don't care anymore but they are lifers. This restaurant would be so different if they actually hired real waitresses / waiters instead of using miserable people who clearly don't understand they work in a service industry. I don't want to hear you whine about your shift every time I sit at the bar. There are 2 women specifically that have been there forever and they are just miserable and unhelpful. It's especially a shame because they have other people there hosting and bringing food out that seem SO MUCH BETTER. - move on from the old guard, get good people! 6) special events leave a bad taste in your mouth due to horrific service and insane prices. - i was there last year for Mother's Day which is a buffet. It was impossible to get our waitress to our table for drinks, i think she came once in an hour and a half. But then the bill comes and they have an automatic, not optional, tip of over $100 for a woman who did literally nothing but make me not want to come back. (One of the same women i mentioned above) - it's a shame. The food is good enough and convenient enough (for me) to grab a drink/meal at the bar still, but it's such a shame, they could be so good with some small tweaks. read more

I can't say enough about this restaurant and its owner! It's obvious that he takes pride in his food, so much is made from scratch, the bread, many of the pastas, etc. The restaurant itself has a very nice atmosphere and they host many functions. On our latest trip there we ordered the caprese board, linguini and clams and a lobster special. The board has huge heirloom tomatoes, fresh mozzarella and basil served with toast points. The linguini and clams is always delicious and one of our favorites. The lobster special was outstanding. I've posted a picture of the description. Good to primavera, help support a family run business and treat yourself to some delicious food! Among my other favorites are the seafood and pasta specials and the eggplant parmesan. read more

Haven't eaten here in a while and am surprised it doesn't get more stars. the service was excellent - even the bartender came over to talk with us about not having a wine I was interested in. Our server was pleasant, professional and very attentive. And the food was fabulous. I had one of the best salads I've ever had anywhere. Our meals were veal Marsala and pasta Bolognese and were both delicious...and portions were large. Plus, the ambiance is great - quieter than most restaurants...the place has an understated elegance. Primavera catered my daughter's baby shower. Everything was perfect. The food was in beautiful stainless chafing dishes - hot and fresh - and the appetizers were perfect. All beautifully displayed. Wow, I have been to this place for years now and have always loved their buffets especially on holidays Well, it's not so great anymore. Sure, they made some cosmetic uplifts to the place but the food was mostly breakfast and a meat station but the food wasn't really that good and the prices now are much higher than they had been in the past, so I think it's time we moved on. read more

Awful. Service from start to finish was not good. Food was okay. The service is the sort one that one would expect from a fast food chain, but without its speed and simplicity. The bartender only catered to the regulars and his friends. The bartender ignored us three times to only serve the couple setting next us, and the end of the bar. My friend and I suffered through this horrible service and ordered few drinks and two dishes to go, separately (different tabs), our meals were in the same to go bag! Burger was raw inside and ice cold onion rings when delivered to the table. 3 others had meals that were unsatisfactory as well. If you're from out of town steer clear of this place. Waitress lovely but it seemed she was the only waitress so service was very slow, but it was ok because we weren't in a rush. Carbonara was bland. The eggplant Parm was very bready. The sauce was ok. Service was good but there was hardly anyone there.

Easter. A day off from work and the gym. Decided to treat myself to brunch. Got there early, as did 30-50 other people. Brunch means self service and long lines for the good food. The choices included:Pancakes, waffles, breakfast sausage, bacon, fruit platter, chicken Marsala, manicotti. (To say the least) freshness was noticeable, being there early helps! The coffee was a little weak, but that's alright. It got stronger as the morning progressed. My first plate was all about breakfast: sausage, potatoes, scrambled eggs (all served in chafing dishes and once again, being early helps). Seeing the beef and the lamb, I grabbed an extra plate and got a cut of each. The tables quickly we're getting filled so knowing this dessert would have to be a quick grab. But, the others were eating , I found time to find the desserts( fresh fruit, danish, am sure there was more, but I found what I had wanted. Recommend to get there early, get your parking space and bring your appetite! No music in the air, good thing? Who really knows. Very helpful waitstaff. On a cool Friday night we decided to try something new and some place new and the lucky winner of my Yelp search was Primavera in quiet Millis, MA. Aside from never being their before, trying outdoor seating under a tent with heat lamps as MA starts to come back from the Covid pandemic was different. The food was utterly fantastic! The menu is extensive with everything from pizza and burgers from the bar to seafood, pasta, and other proteins. We both decided to go the seafood path. The crab encrusted haddock was expertly cooked; flaky and delicious. Surprisingly, it came with mixed vegetables and mashed potatoes and when asked to swap out the mashed for rice or something else (available on other menu dishes) and were advised there would be a $2 substitution fee. While I approved and didn't flinch at the fee, it seems a bit petty for such an establishment and the quality of food. The crispy salmon, which we confirmed was fresh caught, was equally outstanding. Served with rice (I wonder if I wanted mashed potatoes if there would have been an additional $2 substitution fee?) and topped with arugula, cucumber and tomatoes it was delicious. The portions were surprisingly large for the modest prices in the high teens to high twenty dollar range and the staff provided take home boxes which came in handy. With food quality like that, a great atmosphere inside and outside on the patio, what kept Primavera from 5 stars? Simply the service. Let me explain. The website requires reservations even for outside dinning. So I called and made a reservation, and we arrived promptly at the reservation time. Entering the establishment masked we walked to the restaurant/bar area. We patiently waited to be greeted for what seemed to be several minutes. As waitresses passed us by, I eventually tried to get one's attention with a simple hello. Eventually I was told someone would be with me in a couple of minutes. Greeted by the hostess, I said I had a reservation for the patio, but there was no asking of my name or checking me off in their system. Not that it was crowded, but if your process says you need a reservation and you would actually accept walk ins, why limit yourself? Plus, isn't there a contract tracing requirement still? Oh details. Service was also a little slow where even getting a bar beverage took some second asking and arrived after the main course. Thankfully, the meals arrived hot and were delicious as previously stated. Overall I have given Primavera 4 stars for their culinary excellence and quaint atmosphere. We plan to return in due time and look forward to not needing the heat lamps to enjoy the nice patio and the other delicious menu offerings. read more

We were a group of 4 people and from the moment we walk through the door we were greeted with kindness. We had reservations and got seat within two minutes. Let me start off by saying that I'm usually pretty good at remembering all of the details but tonight there were too many...Very busy Saturday night at Primavera in Millis..We were very lucky to get the last 3 seats at the Bar...Kim our Bartender provided Joe,Laura and myself with kind,perfect, attentive service and when She was serving others at the Bar other staff walking by picked up the slack..They all help each other in this restaurant..So nice to see that especially nowadays..Food Delicious no surprise here as Jerry clearly is a Master Chef and a kind soul..I also had the pleasure of running into Lois and her boyfriend Peter which really capped off a perfect evening at Primavera...Thank you very much Jerry and Staff for your outstanding skills and attentive service........ read more

Yesterday we ordered a Chicken and Broccoli Alfredo family dinner to take home for a college get together. There was lots of chicken and the portion was huge, including your choice of homemade pasta, a beautiful, fresh salad and bread. It was absolutely delicious, and well worth the money. Ate dinner there last evening. Everything was great!!! My husband got Cod Picatta, excellent. I had limoncello haddock , delicious! Appetizer of PEI mussels, also excellent, but a little messy.. desserts were great, cheesecake and cannoli. Since we were there last, about 15 years ago, they have updated and redecorated. Had been here many times before on Wednesday's w friend from my women's club. They have set price dinners on Wednesday when they r sit down inside. They posted dinner deals Free for first responders, front of line and anyone In need who needed a dinner. My sil is a nurse who works long hours then comes home to her family. We wanted to give her one day of not having to cook. The dinners r free but they r taking donations to cover. We also got our own dinner while we waited. Her dinner was Chicken Parmaginia w salad. I asked if they had anything no dairy. They went into the kitchen and remade the chicken with no cheese. How thoughtful and caring of them. We ordered the chicken Parmaginia egg rolls and a lg meat lovers pizza. Everything was fresh and made to order. They used their own famous meatballs, sausage, pepperoni and hamburg. Didn't get a picture of rolls but did of the pizza. They did not disappoint. Like always. Please support them either with getting lunch or dinner take out or make a donation for the caring dinners to help someone else during this difficult time. I really want to love this restaurant but I simply can't. Tried on two occasions, both for take out. The first for Thanksgiving so that doesn't really count. The second today when I ordered 4 different entrees and 4 salads, all family sized for a party I hosted. The food simply was not good. The handmade pasta was fresh and the texture was great but overall the dishes tasted extremely bland and all needed salt. The meatballs were tough. The majority of the group shared their disappointment with the food and typically party guests don't share such a POV. I have a lot left overs and decided to toss it since I know my family won't eat it. I did find the salads fresh and tasty however and saved those. And while I have not eaten in the restaurant, I will say that my impression of the place from the entryway and restroom was not good. I have a background in the food service industry and I typically judge a restaurant's kitchen cleanliness based on what I see in the restroom. It displays the restaurants attention to details and since I can't see the kitchen, it gives me a data point. I won't be returning to this restaurant. This restaurant has done a lot on social media to promote its restaurant. Frankly, it's how I heard of them. I suggest they refocus on food quality and restaurant cleanliness to attract and retain new customers. It looks like they have loyal regulars but to thrive in the Boston area, an Italian restaurant needs to be superb. read more
