We ate at Brookside a lot during the pandemic - they had a tent in their driveway and we could reliably get a seat there. This was our first time inside and it was really cute! The inside is a pretty blue color. Really homey. We went here on Patriots day and that resulted in needing to try the Patriot waffle. And it was the star of the show. It smelled beautifully of Vanilla and was really a wonderful treat. We saw our waitress taking a picture of it before she served it to us which gave us a chuckle. We also got egg breakfasts that were fine. My husband didn't like the coffee, but I overall enjoyed the experience. The servers have always been really nice here. It's not like earth shattering, but it's a pleasant diner with decent food. There is a lot of easy street parking as well as a small lot in back. Coffee was very tasty and most places have a burnt coffee taste - not this place. Very busy for a Friday morning at 8:30 but staff were quick and efficient. I don't live near here but I would highly recommend! If I had to say "what was missing", maybe homemade muffins on display! I love a grilled muffin! I've been to Brookside several times for Breakfast and to be fair know the owner. The owner/cook serves food which is the best around. Portions and quality are among the best I've had anywhere. Servers are pleasant and attentive and check on us often. I had the pancakes with crispy bacon on the side and it was crispy just like I like it! Maple syrup was delis not fake. I don't drink coffee but had a nice, hot chocolate. They have parking right in front and also a parking lot in back. There is some counter seating and comfortable table seating in the rest of the restaurant. I must say the rest room was very clean. Today was my second time ordering breakfast from here. I ordered a make your own omelette w/ bacon, provolone cheese, and spinach which came w/ tater tots and an English muffin. My food was ready in a timely manner. They definitely overdid it with the bacon, it was just way too much. I eaten here a number of times and enjoyed it every time. The Corned Beef Hash is my staple. Flat out great Hash! The Corned Beef is homemade and full of flavor. I have also had the Crab Cakes Benedict's. It was the special when I was there and I haven't been lucky enough to stop by again when it was the special. If I had one criticism it would be the home fries. The potatoes don't have anything special flavor wise. I also tend to prefer them a bit more cooked. The Hash Browns are essentially the same you can get at McDonalds. Everybody I have been there with have all loved this place. read more

On a beautiful fall morning we decided to leave the cooking to the professionals and try the Brookside Cafe for breakfast. Fortunately for us, our server informed us that we arrived just before the post Sunday mass crowd which made the ~5minute wait tolerable. While we were eating we noticed the crowd of primarily older churchgoers surge...and I thought it was just the millennial crowd post a night of drinking and partying in town who would flock to a breakfast place like this. I will start with the staff who were all helpful and friendly. It seems they are working there not just for the paycheck, but because they enjoy working with the public and making their patrons happy. The attention to our table was very good, especially refilling coffee which is an absolute must. The food was also good and was served hot, which can be a challenge at busy breakfast establishments. While the french toast was fairly standard and the home fries could have been crispier for my liking, the eggs were fluffy and generously apportioned. The special of the day which were essentially potato skins stuffed with eggs and cheese were excellent and enjoyed by all. Another shout out to Brookside for their cleanliness between customers. Many busy establishments can get behind on their cleaning of tables, chairs, and floors, but Brookside was clean and well lit. My coworkers and I ordered take out from here one Sunday. Food was delivered warm and fresh(grub-hub). The homemade corn beef hash was really good. The breakfast sausage didn't really have much flavor but were cooked prefect and had a nice snap to them. Homefries some were to over cooked kinda burned flavor definitely need salt or ketchup for them or they are kinda plain. Poached eggs were cooked perfectly. Omlete was very good. Hashbrowns were my favorite thing we ordered. Great prices I will definitely be back. It's not the top place on my list for breakfast but I'll keep it in the rotation.
