Visiting Boston area for a friend's weekend and they love the Corner Cafe...and now, so do I! I ordered 2 scrambled eggs hard, wheat toast, home fries, and bacon. I am not a big fan of home fries because I prefer traditional hash browns (not offered) and to my surprise they were very seasoned and cooked crispy. Corner Cafe is not one of those fancy new brunch spots, but the food is good and the service is friendly and lightening fast. We walked in at around 11:15 and we were eating by 11:32. The two servers ran the entire dining room like a well-oiled machine. Everyone was well taken care of. If I'm ever in the area again, I'm definitely going back. Tip: bring cash. Recently moved to this area and have struggled to find food that matches up to flavors from LA or even from St. Louis where I grew up. I was shocked to eat biscuits and gravy that surpassed any I've eaten before. The hash scramble with a chorizo substitute was amazing. Even the scrambled eggs were moist and had the flavor of real butter. I love breakfast and brunch more than any other meal. Can't wait to go back! The two ladies who were serving were very friendly. Chencea (probably destroyed the spelling and I'm sorry!!!) gave exceptional service, great suggestions for food options, and lovingly explained the bill breakdown (it's an old school system). Oh this place rocks! My second visit here (I wasnt on Yelp like this for my first visit). This place deserves its props. They are efficient and move faster than a Waffle House or Huddle House. Much like a Waffle House, the food is prepared in plain sight. Patrons have a choice of seating at the counter or at a traditional table on the floor. I ordered the french toast breakfast with Sausage. It felt like it was ready in under 10 mimutes. And everything from the french toast to the home fries to the sausage were cooked to perfection. Lunch options like burgers and wraps also served here as well. The buffalo chicken wrap looked delicious...I'll have to try that next time. Definitely a regular stop for my visits to Boston. My husband and I decided to try the Corner Cafe based on yelp reviews and are we glad we did. The place is small and very cozy where the regulars seem to have their seats at the counter. I wish I had taken a picture of our meals but nonetheless we had the Hash Benny and the Corner Corned Beef Platter. The hash was the best I've ever had, cooked perfectly and definitely not from a can! The poached eggs were cooked just right and the home fries perfectly seasoned and crispy. So I threw my laundry in at the Wash N Go and came over to the next plaza for breakfast this morning. I went at 11 am. Parking is challenging to say the least. I should have walked. There were people up front waiting for a table but I grabbed a stool at the counter right away. It was very busy in there but the waitress came fairly quickly to give me a coffee and a menu. The waitress came over to me a few minutes later and said "I'm gonna give the kitchen a little break so I'll take your order in a few minutes". WHAT? I watched 4 other ticket orders go up before she came back to me. Why not just take my order and let "the kitchen" make it when they can? That was a bit irritating. About 10 minutes later she came back to take my order. I got 1 scrambled egg, home fries, toast and a side of hash. It's about 11:15 now when I see my ticket finally up in front of the grill. Then 11:30....11:45... I'm really irritated at this point because it's been 45 minutes since I sat down. One of the cooks comes over and says "It's coming I promise ". So I finally get my plate in front of me and start eating as I'm starving now. While I was waiting I kept thinking I'm never coming back here after having to wait this long but once I tasted the food it was delicious! Homefries are awesome and the home made hash was fantastic. Both were not too salty either. The scrambled eggs were freaking amazing. I always put ketchup on my eggs but these were just unbelievably fluffy and tasty that I ate them without it. Coffee was even perfect. I have mine black with no sugar and it was delicious. Waitress came over 3 times to refill it. I was happy about that. What's not to love about this modest yet incredible neighborhood joint located on busy Washington Street in a little plaza next to a convenience store. We came in for breakfast and settled for the 2+2+2 combo which features "2 eggs any style, choice of 2 Pancakes or 2 slices French toast, & choice of 2 slices bacon, or 2 sausage or 1 ham & home fries" for an unbeatable $8. Oh and did I mention that the two pancakes that come with it are the size of a medium pizza? Both the wife and I were defeated about a third of the way in. We devoured the perfectly cooked bacon and eggs but the pancakes were just too big. Our bill was of around $21 with drinks and service was absolutely incredible. All in all this low-key place is absolutely perfect and everything that one would except for a breakfast spot. Their food is delish and comes out quick and everything is affordable as well. They even have private parking spots (although it does fill up on weekends). No complaints, only praise. I look forward to returning soon. read more
