On the way back from the cape in Franklin we were looking for a little dinner.. we found it at Glen pharma. I had the grilled octopus which was delicious and tender with a Mediterranean flair. I took a side of garlic broccoli which could have been cooked just a little bit more but was delicious. My wife had the fish and chips which I stole. A little bit of the chips were the best I've had. The fish was delicious. Of course we had to have a traditional old fashioned smoked which was quite a treat. We sat at the bar and the bartender was very attentive. Funny and welcoming.. but what really killed it was the ambiance and Old Stone building with beautifully appointed decorations. It was a place that I would love to spend more time in. On the recommendation of a friend, I went to brunch here over the weekend. An out of town guest said 'I don't need fancy, I need good food and a mimosa!' With that we ventured to Glen Pharmer. The day was freezing and I could only get reservation outside in the covered bridge which would have been adorable with the water bubbling down stream underfoot had the weather been better. We decided to saddle up at the bar rather than brave the elements. The decor is cool - industrial meets hipster meets country. Lots of wood and copper. There was a lone tv in the corner of the bar playing the NCAA women's lacrosse national championship which was a welcome change of pace from the showings at most sports bars. The bartender was very friendly and very quick to mix drinks. The downside is that they DO NOT serve any alcohol they don't make so the mimosas were out but we did find a cocktail we enjoyed with gin, lavender, honey and lemon. The Bloody Mary had great accompaniments but the tomato mix was a little lackluster. The food was well prepared. The huevos rancheros had a good variety of ingredients and the flavors were perfect together. The tortilla underneath was a bit difficult to cut through but once it got a little soggy from the egg yolk and beans it was easier to break up. The sunrise bowl was the perfect amount of veggies. Purple potatoes were a nice surprise along with a vast array of things like broccoli and zucchini. The Benedict with crab cakes was moist and had plenty of crab! It's a bit heavy so go for it if you're really hungry otherwise you probably can take it home. Food prices were reasonable for the portions given and the quality. We came here as a group after a Soccer game. During a tournament, the place was a little more upscale than we were dressed for after coming from our game, but it was very nice. Nonetheless, they have their own distillery, and they offer flights to test and sample. They had a very good food list with lots of different options. Plenty of appetizers and everything came out pretty quickly considering the size of our group. The server was absolutely on top of her game. She definitely made menu suggestions as we had questions to some of the items that we hadn't seen before. We have a one of their own distilled. I don't have a whole lot of negative to say about GlenPharmer, so let's start with the negative. They don't sell their Irish cream. You can only get it there. It's really good. This makes me sad. I stumbled upon this place. I didn't find it on yelp. I just happened to drive by and was like this looks bougie and up my alley and I made a friend meet me there and I have been back several times since and I have never been disappointed. I also spent $300 on alcohol to bring home and all of it is exceptional. I don't even like vodka, but the flavored vodka are spot on the pineapple taste like pineapple juice. I'm gonna mix it in the summer with some chilled Polar Coconut Limeade Seltzer and I'm super excited about that for my future. I'm having a holiday party mid January, and there will be espresso martinis made from their Bean and I'll be making cider with their bourbon. The service is super friendly. The food is phenomenal, the cocktails are well done, and the space is very comfortable to be in. Go here and give them your money because I want them to stay in business so I can also continue to go and give them mine . Five stars. No notes. Well except maybe find a way to sell me some Irish cream to bring home. Even if you expire it. Even if it's only good for two weeks let me take it home refrigerated. :) OK, actually I do have one other note but it's not a complaint. Pluses: Our server introduced us to Charlie, the resident mixologist. My chemistry PhD friend, whose birthday we celebrated, chatted him up for almost 20 minutes. My cup of clam chowder was briny, smooth, and creamy; my friends said their fried chicken sandwich was buttery, crispy, and salty in all the best ways. I loved the key lime tart, which delivered on its name, and the sticky toffee pudding was a triumph of textures. Minuses: My cod special had just plain underseasoned potatoes, and the cod had not been seasoned before it was crisped. Both of my cocktails were less than they could've been: the peach bourbon smash was not nearly fruity enough to smooth out the bourbon, and the smoked old fashioned not sweet-forward. Firstly I'd like to say I had high hopes for this place. Food was subpar. We ordered octopus and it was overcooked and they didn't clean it that great. This is one of my all time favorite dishes to order. It was sloppy presentation. Had so many ingredients but couldn't taste anything specific. We also had two different dishes of their salmon and they asked if we wanted it medium rare, which we agreed, it also came overcooked and unfortunately well done, it was so dry. We ordered a burger to take home and asked for medium and it was so dry and burnt , my son took two bites and said it was like a hockey puck. Waste of nearly $300 dinner. Found this place when searching for an afternoon drink spot. The 4+ Star reviews caught our eye, as did the menu. I ordered the flight and my gf had one of the handcrafted cocktails. I was most eager to try the ghost pepper infused Vodka, which didn't disappoint, the aroma was amazing. The Purpel Rain was equally delicious and was enjoyed during the course of the meal. However, the meal, the appetizers we shared were disappointing in size. The flavors were on point, and would definitely have earned this place a 4 star, or even 5 star review. But size, is where it counts. I don't understand why restaurants give things in 3s or 5s, or even 7s. Most people are in at least pairs, so having 2, 4 or 6 would make much more sense. The Pork Belly Bao Buns were in a group of 3, typical for "tacos". And they tasted amazing with bits of belly and pineapple. But only one small strip of pork in a bun that was 3x the size of the prok. The pork got lost, to be honest, but it was still good, if that makes sense. We then ordered the Short Rub Bites, which again came in 3 small bites of meat, with 2 piece of plantain to supplement the serving size. For the price, $18, while the flavor was there, the portion size wasn't nearly enough for two people to share. I give the distillery a rounding applause for the drinks. because that's really where the cost and value are equal. But for the food, at least for the appetizers, we were highly disappointing. The ambiance is fitting for a distillery, and the exterior is charming and inviting. Go for the drinks, order a dinner. but forgo the appetizers. read more

Drinks: Despite being a busy Saturday night, we didn't have to wait long to start sipping our cocktails. I particularly enjoyed The Last Straw and Lavender Bees Knees. Food: The appetizers we shared were all enjoyable, including the crispy well-seasoned Truffle Fries, Chicken Wings, and Short Rib Bites. The short ribs were delicious, but quite small and expensive vs. the generous portion of wings. For my entree, the NY strip hit the spot and left me stuffed in a good way. Cooked to a perfect medium rare, the steak and all the accompaniments were good. The bourbon lover in the group wasn't wild over them, though. But for those of us who were just casual sippers, it was a perfect night out. We originally have reservations for outdoors because that was all that was available and luckily they did move us inside because I'm pretty sure we would've frozen our butts off. Went here with my partner yesterday, and woke up still thinking about how great GlenFarmer was! For drinks we had the pear blossom and the strawberry fields w/ the jalapeño tequila, both of which were great. For an appetizer, we had the pork bao buns, which were perfectly made and had a delicious sauce on them. I had the crab fried rice because crab in fried rice caught my eye as an unique menu item, and it did not disappoint! My partner had the salmon and I think he would have licked the plate if it was socially- appropriate lastly we had the bomboloni donuts; they were light with delicious filling, and 3 great dipping sauce options. In terms of staff and ambiance, and outdoor seating is so pretty and has space heaters if you get cold. Once the sun went down, the string lights that lined the outdoor space looked great. I loved sitting at the bar and getting to see the artistry that went into each cocktail (what I'm assuming is a smoked Manhattan!!) and seeing Justin the bar back fly around keeping everything clean and well stocked. My wife and I decided to come here looking for something new in our local area and never having been here before, we decided to see what it was like at GlenPharmer. The prospect: At first glance, GlenPharmer doesn't look like much but it's granite walls and outdoor patio leads one to believe that there is more here than meets the eye. The building itself houses a working distillery and the mash tun is clearly visible when you look into the rear of the building. The inside looks rustic yet modern at the same time with wood floors. We were seated promptly as we had made reservations (recommended) and it is here that our GlenPharmer experience began. The drinks: Obviously, being in a working distillery where the spirits are made and bottled in house, I expected the drinks to be superb and I was not disappointed. I had a smoked old fashioned and it was excellent, combining the essences of the smoke and the bourbon together very nicely. My wife had the spiced punch which was equally good. Being a fan of vodka and cranberries, I also had their Cranberry Smash, which featured their BOG vodka and juices. It was good, but whereas the vodka was only 70 proof, it was not as strong as I would have liked, but still very good. It is here that the GlenPharmer distillery shines but as we found out, from here, things take a step down. The food: Most people go to a restaurant to eat, drink and to relax. My wife and I came here for all three, but whereas my wife is a trained culinary professional, our food standards are rather high, but with the prices of everything on the menu, we expected the food to be as good as the drinks, but it was not to be. Not that the food was bad mind you, it just wasn't in the same league as the drinks. Though the menu featured many very interesting and varied dishes, the food we were served wasn't up to the standards that we have envisioned for a place like this. The foccaccia bread and the lemon infused whipped butter in the bread basket was wonderful and unexpected. We started with the hummus platter which came out on a wooden platter. The hummus was slathered onto the bottom of it with the veggies and bread on top of that. It was artfully arranged and it tasted good, but we have had better hummus platters. It was also rather small, but as an appetizer it wasn't bad and it was enough for two people to share. I had the berry and burrata salad and my wife had the tuna poke bowl. Both were good. But as with the hummus platter, we were expecting more. While everything tasted good, it was just that...good...not great. For dessert, I had the molten lava cake (It had meringue cookies in it, which was an unusual touch) and she had the cheesecake and though both were good, we expected a bit more. The service: Top notch, as far as I could tell. Everything arrived relatively quickly and it was served at the appropriate temperature. The waitstaff seems to work together to get dishes out to the appropriate tables which is a good thing. Summary: In short, I would recommend GlenPharmer to anyone, but if you are looking for a great gastronomic experience, you won't find it here. If you're looking for great drinks, good food and spot-on service, then you'll be 100% satisfied with your experience. read more

I usually only write good reviews, but unfortunately, it's been a few days and this place is still on my mind and not in a good way.. we made a reservation for 7:30 but were not told that the kitchen closed at 8 until we got there. We felt like we had to rush to put food orders in. My friend had called the day before to ask if they could accommodate her (she is vegan and there is only one vegan option). They told her they could do substitutions but when we got there they said they weren't able to accommodate what she had asked for on the phone (which was a simple ask). I was so disappointed in my food. I paid $8 for a mocktail which was super bland and I couldn't taste the fig jam and barely could taste the pear. The bao buns were $18 for three of them and they were tiny! Way smaller than any bao I ordered before at any other place.. and the chicken was super chewy. I couldn't eat most of it because of that. The only good thing was the complimentary bread and honey butter. Our waitress was very nice but it did take a while waiting on things and the place was not busy at all.. maybe two other tables outdoors and one other table inside. My friend wanted to take the rest of her drink to go and we were told they didn't have to go cups but we did see a sign for to go cocktails. How do they do takeout drinks and to go cocktails with no to go cups? Didn't make sense. I can't believe I paid close to $30 for hardly anything. Took a jaunt down to this beautiful distillery and could not have left more satisfied. All the reviews that mention the beauty and ambiance - it's like the fun of a brewery, with the vaulted ceilings and view into the distillery with the big beautiful shiny equipment - but elevated with an innovative cocktail menu and mixologists who are refined in their craft, with elegant seating options and a lot less children sprinting about :). The covered bridge seating looked so romantic after dark, and the outdoor patio was surrounded by beautiful landscaping and was PACKED when we got there. We opted for bar seats and got to watch the magic happen as the bartender mixed up a variety of smoky, spicy, sweet, and whimsical concoctions. The menu shifts by season so they keep things fresh and relevant, and I was so enamored by the time our entrees came I didn't snap any photos. Standout stars to mention - the Brussels sprouts with the pimento cheese were fantastic, their smashed tator tots were crispy, creative and delicious, and you should without hesitation upgrade to the truffle fries. It was overcooked and very tough with a burnt flavor to it. I wouldn't recommend it. The seared scallops, on the other hand, were exceptional. Beautifully plated and cooked to perfection...a five star dish. My wife also ordered the charcuterie board, which was very good and the portion size was more than generous. We each had several of their signature drinks which were spot on good. Overall, nice menu with some very nice meal options but a little on the pricey side for what you get. The next day, we swung by for lunch and was hoping for a lunch menu with some less expensive sandwich options. Unfortunately, the dinner menu was the same as the lunch menu. We were about to leave when our waitress told us what the specials were. Lobster roll was the special of the day; exactly what we were looking for and I am so glad we stayed. The lobster roll was up there with some of the best I've had. Very generous portion size with very little mayo and a touch of lemon. It was a real winner! As for their booze...try the "Bean Vodka." This vodka is coffee and vanilla infused. It was so good, I had to buy several bottles to take home. Aside from the octopus plate, everything was very good and the service was excellent both times. There is no beer or wine option, but the cocktail list is extensive and every cocktail I saw come out looked great. We had a gin martini and espresso martini - the gin is very floral and botanical, and the espresso martini tasted exactly like my iced coffee in the morning and was superb. My husband and I went out with a bunch of friends to enjoy a meal, some fun cocktails, and conversation while we were in town over Christmas break, and we are so glad we ended up at this spot! (To be fair, we knew we were in for a treat since we had been here once before on a date night.) The service was prompt and professional, the food was scrumptious, and the cocktails were the best I have had in a solid while. For reference, I had a specialty Margarita and a smoked Old Fashioned (both next level) and an excellent seed-crusted tuna dish (served to my exact liking). And when we finally finished the meal, the waiters did not rush us to settle up but allowed us to occupy the table until we were ready to disband. I liked it, I really wanted to love it. The building is gorgeous inside and out. Whoever did the design did a fantastic job bringing this old granite mill building into a modern rustic restaurant. With all the stone and wood its quite loud even with only half the tables occupied. Started with a flight of the bog, bourbon, and spiced rum. The bog was very tart but after a few sips it grew on me with the deep rich cranberry flavor. I could see using this in a mixed cocktail, would definitely need sprite or something sugary to mellow out the tart. Spiced rum had way too much spice and tastes like liquid gingerbread. Bourbon is really young and wheaty, I'd prefer more time in the barrel. While waiting for apps to come out we all drooled at every dish as it was carried by. This place does presentation right. The drinks look amazing, each dish made us second guess our order they looked so good. The smoked old fashioned is another marvelous presentation. We shared the boa buns and calamari. Buns were very good but cold when we they arrived at the table. The waiter was handling a private party and a large birthday so service was really really slow. Calamari had a great batter and cooked to tender though it could have used a dipping sauce or drizzle of something. I then had the old fashioned without smoke. It ok but i'd try it again bc it was definitely left on the bar for awhile and the large cube was partially melted by the time I got it. My fish filet sandwich finally arrived about 35-40 minutes after ordering and it was tender and flaky, warm but not hot. Like the other items I tried it looked great and tasted good. The fries were super over-salted to the point it was distracting. This place has so much potential and I will certainly try again. What a fun place with a great vibe! It was busy and we failed to make a reservation, but were lucky enough to grab seats at the bar. The result was getting to watch servers prepare crowd pleasing concoctions that were presented with billows of smoke, to the oohs and ahhhs of surrounding patrons. I ordered the Harvest Margarita, made with their own GlenQuila. It was amazingly good and a nice bourbon flavored twist on the traditional marg. My date ordered a complicated sounding Martini, dirty, and gave it good reviews. We nursed our cocktails, having read the "proof" percentages and wanting to be (somewhat) responsible. We ordered apps, because this girl had her eye on the dessert menu. Grilled Octopus was calling to me, as I was feeling adventurous (perhaps fueled by the GlenQuila?) and we also tried the Fried Brussels Sprouts. The portions were not huge and I thought the octopus a little over grilled (more than slightly charred). But it was delicious and served in a lovely presentation that included baby roasted potatoes. The sprouts were accompanied by a rich sauce of pomegranate molasses and pickled chili peppers. It was amazing, but overpowered the Brussels Sprouts, of which I happen to really like the taste. On to dessert. Now, I am not one to order sweets. Unless, of course, it happens to be bread pudding. The Whiskey Bread Pudding was absolutely decadent. Having sampled this dish at too many restaurants to count, I consider myself a bit of a bread pudding snob. This was among the very best I've eaten. Went to GF this week. The ambiance and decor are gorgeous. It was a little dark at our table. Super fun bar areas and beautiful patio area. The staff was wonderful and extremely responsive. My husband ordered the short rib dish and ended up getting a bowl of pasta with just a couple of very small pieces of short rib. He sent it back and they did add more short rib but it's still probably wasn't worth the $32. Our waitress and the manager were very accommodating and were dedicated to making our experience to good. I had a cosmopolitan which was delicious! It was so good that I ordered a second but then I could not finish it because I felt too buzzed. I could not really taste the alcohol in it so I didn't expect that but no complaints! I ordered the salmon dish. I got a very healthy portion of salmon and it was cooked fairly well, although a little raw in the middle. It smelled a little bit fishy, but tasted pretty good. Visiting Franklin for the weekend and discovered GlenPharmer. Food was delicious but the drinks were amazing. Ended up buying couple of bottles. Highly recommended. If you get the ghost pepper tequila drink, be ready for 3 peppers out of 5 on the spiciness. read more

What a beautiful building. Everything we had was great . Lots of gluten free items on the menu and some very interesting cocktails. The truffle fries were fabulous. The hummus board was served with delicious naan bread. Steaks,chicken and salmon were all delicious and cooked perfectly. We even bought a few bottles of spirits to bring home ! read more
