Took my kids here after visiting the Milford library. The place itself is small, cute and bright with inviting colors. There's a little mural on the wall of an umbrella that's a great spot for a selfie. The service was pleasant and prompt. So, as for the donuts. Visually, they look very good. Large donuts with various toppings. I personally found them to be very dry and dense. The specialty one that I had was a peanut butter filling with chocolate krispies like topping. It was okay- not something I would order again. Again, seemed dry with not much filling. I also got the honey glazed, the one with fruity pebbles on it, chocolate icing with sprinkles and a chocolate with glaze. I think it was over $20 for 6 donuts. If I pay that much, I want to be wow-ed by the donuts, and I just wasn't. Overall, I wouldn't make the trip to go again. Lots of other places with better donuts.

The food and coffee were absolutely delicious here! My SIL is gluten free but loves donuts and got her second one here today and it made me so happy to see how excited she was while I ate my own. Plus the staff are super friendly and we were served very quickly despite how busy it was!

    November weekend special--honey glazed cruller

Came for the cruller special for November. The crullers specifically is available on weekends only for this month's special. They weren't bad. The cruller was super fluffy. A bit too fluffy imo--maybe since it was ultra fresh. We had another cruller for the next day and it held up better and tasted better to be honest. Overall, solid donut shop, prices were reasonable for a gourmet donut. Easy parking. Cheers

I need to come back! Every donut looks so good . I got the one of the special donuts, crueller, and their honey glazed donut. I love how light the honey glazed is. The crueller, though on the cakey side, tastes SO GOOD. I enjoyed the honey glazed more while my husband enjoyed the crueller more. They are both so pretty too. I was really hungry so I got an egg, sauce, American cheese on everything bagel and it HIT THE SPOT. I want to try so many things at the place. It is also super cute and the workers are so friendly!

I'm a huge basic batch fan! They have delicious coffee creations, monthly rotating flavors, and fun treats to go along with the donuts too. (Homemade pop tarts?! Cookies?!) the staff are always super nice and helpful when you're overwhelmed by the options. I love their color scheme, and the donuts are baked fresh daily! They have a mix of yeast raised and cake donuts (I think that's right!) - and I'm always in awe of their creations!

I've had Basic Batch Donuts on my list for awhile and I finally made the drive up! It's a small shop, but there is wall seating for a handful of people. I went 8am on a Friday and I didn't have issue with parking or a line. Ordering was easy, and it was nice to be able to see all the donuts. I ordered two May specials (Double Stuffed Oreo and Dulce de Leche Churro) and two regular items (fruity pebbles and maple bacon). I also ordered the May special creme brulee sugar cookie and the May special coffee cereal milk latte. My absolute favorite item was the creme brulee sugar cookie. OMG it was so soft and the flavor was sweet and a little crunchy and just out of this world. I wish it was a regular item or I bought a dozen to freeze them. I still can't stop thinking about it. My favorite donut was the double stuffed Oreo. I loved the Oreo filling. I do want to go back and try another months specials!

I got a breakfast sandwich this morning and it was delectable! I ordered it and it came out within minutes. The staff was very nice and welcoming, I will definitely be back soon.

Incredible donuts! I stopped by this place to get a dozen for my cousin's birthday party and wow were they a hit. My buddy said "do you know why you get a hug, Caleb? It's not because you brought donuts. It's because you brought the *good* donuts." The place is nice and cute with a very helpful staff. Naturally I got a couple for myself, and went hard on one the minute I got into my car. Highly recommend!

Wow. I love these artisan donut shops. I finally stopped in to check the place out and try some of their delicious looking donuts. As I walked in I was greeted by the friendly staff. I was told about the special donut of the day, a creme brulee donut. There had to be at least 12 varieties of donuts available. I chose the maple bacon, an apple fritter and a cinnamon roll. I ate the cinnamon roll first. It was light and delicious. Generously covered in frosting. After I ate the maple bacon donut... wow. Very pleasantly surprised by the bacony(?) goodness. Prices are to be expected. I paid 17 bucks for 2 donuts and 2 bakery items. Very fair. There is also a great artisan coffee shop next door that roasts their beans in house!

As a doughnut connoisseur, this one is tough to write, because while they're light years ahead of Dunkin' Donuts, and they are certainly ambitious, Basic Batch falls a little short of other similarly ambitious donutries (if that's not a word already, I just coined it) that are at the same premium price point. The toppings are cute and eye catching, and some of them are delicious. But some taste odd and most have a donut underneath that's closer in texture and flavor to a brioche hamburger bun. On most, the outside is extra sweet and the inside is not sweet at all. Depending on your preference, that can be a good thing. Don't get me wrong, still good. Just not destination material. I'll say this: the pop tart is fantastic. If only real Pop Tarts were as good. And the donut selection is impressively vast. And there's a narrow counter and outside tables to enjoy your bounty, so it's more than just a takeout place. Here's a rundown from a recent visit: Creme Brûlée: Delicious outer coating of a light, wet glaze that's torched into caramel crispness just like the fancy dessert. Vanilla pudding on the inside. Honeydipped: Very lightly glazed. Could have used more glaze. Thick and doughy, but a light, firm dough. A little too plain tasting and borderline dry under the glaze. Chocolate Honeydipped: Similar in texture to the honeydipped, but with a little more glaze and a weird, sweet flavor somewhat related to chocolate, but off. Blueberry Cake: Brilliantly bumpy and very well coated with a substantial amount of glaze. Cakey inside with strong blueberry flavor, but again, off. I'm not going to say artificial, but off. Boston Creme: Your basic rendition, no bells or whistles, basically the same chocolate on top as Dunkin, basically the same vanilla pudding as Dunkin, a firmer and plainer dough than Dunkin, but fresher than Dunkin. Maple Bacon: Everybody's doing this flavor nowadays, and I gotta hand it to Basic Batch; theirs is one of the best I've had. Still not crazy about the plain, firm donut beneath, but the toppings were very well done. The maple was a thick coating that tasted like maple and not chemicals. The bacon, allotted in small strips (earlier renditions had crumbled), looked skimpy but was fresh and crisp and tasty.

Stopped by Basic Batch Donuts on a mid Saturday morning. It's wasn't very busy, staff was friendly, and I was able to place my order quickly. I had the honey glazed and chocolate glazed donuts. They were a bit expensive ($7.97 for both) and I wasn't impressed. The cake was a quite dry and not very flavorful. I had 1 bite of each donut and that was enough. Eventually I'll try a different flavor and update my review. Until then, I'm not a big fan of Duncan Donuts but for now I'd prefer their donuts over Basic Batch

A very aesthetic donut shop with lots of rotating monthly flavors in shop plaza. I've come here a couple of times to grab some donuts and both times have been an easy process with their clearly labeled donuts. They have had flavors such as French toast, thin mint, and key lime cheesecake. The brioche donuts are soft and fluffy and they don't skimp on the filling inside. The service is quick to get a box of donuts, so definitely stop by if you're in the area.

Best donuts in the area, not much of a coffee selection, but it's a donut shop. Donuts are a little pricey but worth it to get a few.

All the machinations and trappings of a good breakfast diner, but a significant lack of closing the deal. Did the owner lose the spark? Did franchising kill the heart? The coffee is definitely coffee, the muffins were muffin-shaped, but that's all. In short, it was high school, basic, and a total tease. Just like my ex. It is a leave-you-hanging, almost-there, edge of an experience. I am certain they will earn my 5th star in due time, probably once they learn where the salt and pepper is, but until then, meh.

I think the thing to remember about places like this in this area is that there are lots of breakfast/lunch diner places but they call close at 2 or 3pm and they, for the most part, are a little pricey. So, let's start with the good parts: there are lots of food options, including many veggie and even some gluten-free choices, which is important when you have a family member with food restrictions. Their espresso is decent. It's a medium roast, so not as dark and earthy as Starbucks, but still pretty good. I've been here with family and friends, and everyone has always enjoyed their food. They hire locals, including many high school kids and recent grads, which I appreciate. Now, the drawbacks that made me hover between 2 and 3 stars... First, the wait time. There is no reason it should take so long to order or to get your food. There are tons of staff here. I don't know what's going on that it takes so long, but it does. Secondly, the tables and booths are not cleaned often or well. There are always crumbs, coffee rings, spilled water, used napkins, etc., either on seats or on the table. Even when people bus their own tables, which they do, they need to be wiped down regularly, and they aren't. The floor was sticky and "crunchy" last time I was there, and I have to say the sticky floor thing is a pretty regular occurrence. And, the last three times I used the bathroom, it was either not clean or not stocked. When I visited with my father a few months ago, I ordered coffee, and he had coffee with a sandwich. His food arrived with the wrong items, and the bread was not toasted, as he had requested. It also took more than 30 minutes. If they could speed up the process and assign one of their many staff members to continually clean the busy seating area, I think that would bump this up to four stars easily.

I had the grilled octopus which was delicious and tender with a Mediterranean flair. I took a side of garlic broccoli which could have been cooked just a little bit more but was delicious. Of course we had to have a traditional old fashioned smoked which was quite a treat. We sat at the bar and the bartender was very attentive. Funny and welcoming.. but what really killed it was the ambiance and Old Stone building with beautifully appointed decorations. It was a place that I would love to spend more time in. With that we ventured to Glen Pharmer. The day was freezing and I could only get reservation outside in the covered bridge which would have been adorable with the water bubbling down stream underfoot had the weather been better. We decided to saddle up at the bar rather than brave the elements. The decor is cool - industrial meets hipster meets country. Lots of wood and copper. There was a lone tv in the corner of the bar playing the NCAA women's lacrosse national championship which was a welcome change of pace from the showings at most sports bars. The bartender was very friendly and very quick to mix drinks. The downside is that they DO NOT serve any alcohol they don't make so the mimosas were out but we did find a cocktail we enjoyed with gin, lavender, honey and lemon. The Bloody Mary had great accompaniments but the tomato mix was a little lackluster. The food was well prepared. The huevos rancheros had a good variety of ingredients and the flavors were perfect together. The tortilla underneath was a bit difficult to cut through but once it got a little soggy from the egg yolk and beans it was easier to break up. The sunrise bowl was the perfect amount of veggies. Purple potatoes were a nice surprise along with a vast array of things like broccoli and zucchini. The Benedict with crab cakes was moist and had plenty of crab! It's a bit heavy so go for it if you're really hungry otherwise you probably can take it home. Food prices were reasonable for the portions given and the quality. Drinks are creative and well made but remember you're not getting mimosas at this joint!
