We were excited to see a new Mexican restaurant open so close to our house. I went in and sat at the bar, the place was mostly empty. The bartender said hi but disappeared into the kitchen. I waited for 10 or 15 minutes but nobody came to bring water or anything. There was a woman/waitress with an apron on that came behind the bar and just looked at me and ignored me but spoke to three young men drinking sodas at the other end. The bartender showed back up out of the kitchen and delivered food to a table. However I was never acknowledged the whole time. I left and won't be back. read more

I really wanted to like this place and I don't like giving bad reviews. We are from about 3 hours South and we really didn't realize how good we had it with the authentic Mexican food down there! Since moving to Houston we have yet to find authentic Mexican food or any restaurants with good street tacos! I passed this spot and looked it up. Despite the mediocre reviews on Yelp, they have descent reviews on Google and they have street tacos! Score! I told my husband about it, hoping this would be the restaurant that had food like back home. First off, the service was absolutely terrible. We went in at 4:45 on a Tuesday afternoon. We were greeted right away and told to sit anywhere. There was one other man at another table who appeared to have already finished his meal and was chatting with another woman who worked there. The waitress (didn't introduce herself, so can not tell you her name) asked us our drink order. We both ordered waters with lemon/lime and a milk for our toddler. Meanwhile, she left and two other sets of men walked in and sat at the bar. Before bringing us back our waters, she greeted, took drinks orders, and THEN took food orders for both parties sitting at the bar! We were starving, and thirsty, and by then had been waiting for what seemed like forever. So we finally got the attention of the other waitress who was chatting with the guy who appeared to have finished his meal, and asked her if we could put in our order with her since the other waitress never came back. Well- we gave her our whole order, she was repeating it back to us (2 street taco plates - add avocado), then the other waitress appeared with our waters (forgot the limes), so the waitress repeating back the order gave the order to our original waitress with the waters. My husband clarified with both of them that it was 2 street taco PLATES with added avocado... (their English was broken, they were primarily Spanish speaking). He must have clarified with them 4 times in Spanish. My husband ordered a beer and I ordered a Topo Chico mineral water (because the water we originally ordered tasted funny). She took10 minutes to come back with them and served me my Topo Chico HOT with a glass of ice. First of all, you don't serve it hot, it specifically says on the back to serve cold, it doesn't taste good hot because it's mineral water. I couldn't drink it. Meanwhile, the other waitress is still chatting with that guy again, who was also at our table when we ordered the beer and Topo Chico, but didn't get them, either. Our food comes out.. she brought 4 tacos, on 2 separate plates... so 2 tacos on one plate and 2 on the other... no avocado and no charro beans. The street taco plate specifically has 4 or 5 (can't remember) with a side of charro beans. And she put them in front of my husband. I mean, if that's all you thought he ordered, wouldn't you turn to me and ask me what I wanted to eat too when we ordered? He clarified with them so many times, and they even repeated it back twice and still got it wrong. The ONLY reason they are getting 2 stars is because the first set of tacos were good. When we asked where the charro beans were, she only brought 1 side of charro beans, instead of two. We didn't even ask for the other one at this point. The charro beans tasted like bacon grease. We must have got the bottom of the pot because it was full of bacon bits and bacon fat and barely any beans! We couldn't even eat them because of the strong taste of bacon grease. When they brought out the second set of tacos, they tasted like the grill. The waitress NEVER came to check on us when we got our food, to refill drinks or ask if we needed anything. We had to sit and wait for the check. We ended up stopping and picking up food on the way home because we were still hungry. I would not recommend this place. read more

This is the worst Mexican food I have ever had. I am so angry I paid $40. I went in and picked up food to go and I got one beef fajita and one chicken fajita plate. The beef fajitas were old, hard and not even fajita meat but a cheap steak cut in strips. The beans and rice was mixed together and tastes spoiled. I tried my husbands chicken and literally spit it out it was so bad. The Tortillas were not homemade. Why I waited I got a michelada and that was the only good thing about the whole experience. My stomach is so sick. Not worth the $40 you can go to papacitos or lupes for that. Oh and didnt even get chips and salsa. Yuck read more

Good food, but service definitely lacking. Went there Saturday evening and only one person working the bar and tables and looked like only one cook working - food took a long time to come out. The one Server could have moved faster - she seemed to take her time with everything.Wine-based margaritas not great. Chips and salsa are great however. Loved the salsa. Enchiladas and Monterey chicken are excellent. Bean and rice great too. Fajitas just so-so. Got a cheeseburger for my son and it was kind of rubbery. French fries were good. I've been wanting to try this place out for a while, not impressed. Ordered Huevos Rancheros togo, the food was hot (temp) but the taste was not so great. The ranchero sauce was too salty not enough spice, the beans had a burnt taste, the rice was a bit dry. I thought the corn tortillas would be home made but they were straight out the package, not authentic as I hoped. Unfortunately I will not be going back to this place again. read more

If I could leave 0 stars I would. We stopped in on the way back to San Antonio from Houston just looking for some breakfast tacos. We ordered SIMPLE tacos (bean and cheese, egg and bacon, etc.) and EVERY SINGLE PLATE came out wrong with either cheese or egg where it wasn't supposed to be. The waitress had to ask us 5 times each to clarify our orders (there were only 4 of us) and it STILL came out wrong. We ordered sweet tea - it was unsweet. We asked to switch out the drinks for lemonade or water and she acted as if we were inconveniencing her. When we sent our plates back with better clarification from another server, guess what? Wrong again. My fiancé just ate his messed up tacos because he was starving. The other girl and I just canceled our order, we have a long drive and if they can't get simple tacos right we weren't going to continue wasting our time. Spent an hour here while still leaving hungry. Save your time and money, this establishment obviously needs a complete redo of their staff. read more

I've been here 3 times in the last 2 weeks because I just came across this restaurant in my neighborhood & I really like the food. I would have given this restaurant a better rating had they not messed up my order. It was a simple request that I repeated "no onions, no Pico, nothing with onions". We've eaten there often and they do suffer from some inconsistencies in the kitchen at times, but this morning I stopped in and had some of the best breakfast tacos I've had since being in Houston. Don't let the gas station strip location fool you - the food and service are TOP SHELF. The restaurant was clean and well kept. We visited early on a Friday evening. Friendly smiles met us at the door. Our server gave great recommendations with the steak and bacon fajita dish (first item on the 'other' side of the menu) - DELISH. Hubs ate a chorizo and ham torta. He thought he would be disappointed after I was served my fajita plate...but no. He said it exceeded his expectations. Bottom line, we left the restaurant talking about what we would eat the next time we visit. First of all.. for a Mexican restaurant located next to the gas station... its pretty good. I would say their breakfast tacos are little overpriced but that's just me.
