    Garlic chicken sliders
    Lauren G.

Happy hour is from 2-5pm daily and is only offered at the bar (bummer, because it looks like they have a nice outdoor area...) The prices on the HH drinks were good and I'm always glad when they have local beers on draft. However, I was pretty underwhelmed by the food. Garlic chicken sliders: Instead of having one piece of chicken, it was multiple small pieces of chicken, which means they kept falling out of the sandwich. They were also soft - and so was the mac salad on the sandwich, so there was no textural contrast. It probably would've been much better if the chicken was crispy. Garlic soy fries: Interesting shape! They were crispy on the outside but were sitting in the sauce, so they could get soggy if they sat too long. Overall it just felt like everything was a touch too sweet and needed a hit of acid or salt or something to punch it up.

Had a great breakfast I swear every time We go something new on the menu. Today's no exception. We had Sharon as our server and she was great!!

Rodd helped me plan my mom's 60th birthday dinner here at Basalt and they exceeded in impressing all 14 people! They helped me curate a 3 course menu that fit perfectly with our group and the the pricing was more than fair for the amount and quality of the food we received. I have to give huge props to Rodd and his team, especially our waitress Bina, for such an outstanding job. We all enjoyed everything, from the salad starters down to our desserts, everything was perfect! Our meal started off with the house salad, perfectly dressed & great size for an app. Then our guests had 3 items to choose from: fish, chicken or gnocchi with sausage. I chose the fresh catch of the day which was marlin. It did not disappoint. Loooved the cook on it. It came with veggies and white rice and was perfectly portioned. I tasted the chicken and the gravy was amazing along with the mashed potatoes. Loved how lightly the skin was fried. Also tasted the gnocchi which was really flavorful as well. The third course was a dessert option of a mochi brownie or POG (Passfruit, Orange & Guava) mousse. Both options were great as it provided a chocolate and non-chocolate dessert. I liked the brownie the best! Everyone had nothing but great things to say about their meals. I definitely recommend Basalt for any occasion! Appreciate Rodd, Bina and everyone at Basalt in creating a memorable experience for my mom's birthday. Thank you times a thousand!

We stumbled upon this place when having a starvation in Waikiki. When you walk the entrance is through another business/store. It is very casual with both indoor and outdoor seating. Our server was really friendly and engaged in conversation while providing suggestions for us. The food was good, specifically the charcoal pancakes. It was light and the flavor was good. We will definitely be back.

Had a wonderful brunch at Basalt. I had a tasty skillet mixed with steak, French fries, and over easy eggs. My dish had alot of personality. My dessert was a fruit mousse cake slice that was flavorful and different from the usual chocolate mousse served in most restaurants. The service was very courteous and prompt.

The charcoal pancakes are an absolute must try - soft & fluffy, delicious, and visually appealing! The loco moco portion here is a bit smaller compared to other restaurants (but sized right for a moderate appetite), but it was packed with more flavor, very delish. Nice service. Would return to try other items on the menu. If driving, you can park at the Hyatt Hotel 6th floor and Basalt can validate it for 3 hrs. We ended up shopping around the area a bit longer so we had to pay for an extra 1.5-2 hrs of parking, which ended up being like $12.

Price: $30 per person for brunch. $$. For touristy area, it is not bad. 4 stars. Ambiance: modern, nice dining area with outdoor seating. 4 stars. Location: in the heart of Waikiki, part of the Hyatt Centric complex, on Kuhio street. I believe you can get parking validated at the Hyatt Centric. It is kinda interesting Location since it shares space with a convenience store. So you can do some grocery shopping afterwards. 4 stars. Meals: we only came here for brunch. So, menu is limited. We got salmon toast and loco moco. Both are very tasty. 4 stars. Service: so so. It was not busy on a Thursday morning. There were about 3 small parties. It took 15 min to place order and another 20 min to get our meals... I know, it's island time! Regular coffee with unlimited refill: $5 each. Orange juice $6 Loco moco $20 Salmon toast with side salad $25 It's not a cheap eat but does not burn a hole in your wallet either.

Last minute late lunch. So glad they were able to seat us. The food here is always fresh and delicious! I highly recommend you come for breakfast, lunch or dinner! Always good food and friendly service!!

    Pork loco moco
    Stephy L.

A little sad that they switched their menus and a chef change. My favorite item before was the wagyu loco moco, which they now swap out for a pork loco moco to be different. If comparing the wagyu loco moco to the pork, the wagyu was far superior. But if comparing a pork loco moco, which is different from the rest of the strip, it's good. Cooked perfectly. They still had similar items, like the charcoal pancakes, and a few other items. The menu is still affordable for most items. But with the swap of the loco moco, it will definitely deter me from coming often, or at all. The wagyu loco moco was my favorite on the strip. Please bring it back!

Friendly service. Location is inside a mall type with other businesses and restaurants. There is seating indoor and outdoor. More of a casual dining place I loved the variety of the dinner menu and the Asian twist on items. I shared the prime rib with my coworker as well as shared appetizers with the table- perfect amount of food. The bruschetta and the carpaccio were so tasty! Prime rib was also really nicely cooked. The mashed potatoes were super good as well

Best meal so far in waikiki. Everything was seasoned well and flavorful! I can't express how good the food was. Service was great as well. She didn't bug us she came up at the right times. Definitely a seasoned server.

We saw an ad about this restaurant and decided to go. We loved it! We had the lomo saltado and it's the best I've ever had! We also tried the tuna and a dessert; everything was simply delicious We also ordered some drinks and they were pretty good as well. I definitely recommend this place, the staff was very friendly and helpful. The ambiance is relaxing and it's just nice to have the option to be indoor or outdoor. We would definitely come back!

If you're looking for a great place for happy hour in Waikiki, check out Basalt and go say hi to Jono the bartender. Great atmosphere. Had a great time with my wife just watching some games, talking story and enjoying some solid food and drinks. And if you're a whiskey or bourbon fan, they have a great selection here.

Located in a hotel called The Romer on Nāhua Street in Waikiki off of Kuhio (closer to Ala Wai Canal) it is a smallish unpretentious looking building on Diamond Head side of Nahua. They have valet stand in front and validate parking for up to 3 hours. The valet wasn't very friendly when we walked towards him and usually they hold the door open but this one did not. We realize he's probably not part of Lei Stand staff but it doesn't make a good first impression. Walk into the lobby and directly to your left is the Lei Stand. It is brightly neon but dark if that makes sense, and very small. If you're a fan of when it used to be on Bethel St downtown then you'll be disappointed with this venue. No view to be had, dark drapes cover the windows (we were there at 6:00 pm) and no cute little lanai or garden. Tiny tables either high tops or rounds - maybe 10 total and a small bar. There was one tiny corner booth. The lost star was for this set up but also another lost star for NO MUSIC. Music is such an important part of a place especially a bar so we were disappointed and appalled there was only silence. Bartender said the music was "broken" so we turned on our phones to get something on our table. Then two girls brought in something to light the place up with some tunes so that helped. The final lost star was it is called The Lei Stand yet there wasn't a lei stand inside the place. When we asked the bartender where it was he didn't even know what a lei was. Then we explained to him and he said it is in the hotel lobby but you have to go to front desk to let them know you wish to purchase one. Another disappointment. Thank goodness I bought her a lei from downtown in case they didn't have any. The good stars ... Star 1 goes to the drink menu and how delicious they tasted. "Rub up on my belly" was beautifully prepared and so delicious I had to have another one lol I mean how could I refuse a second guava jam infused Tito's vodka??? Bartender prepared with cute little garnish and an ice stick to keep it cold! He was very nice and took good care of us. My friend opted for the "Clifton's Curse" - yes there's a back story to this drink- and enjoyed the cognac, absinthe, bitters and sherry concoction! Ono! Star 2 goes to the food or "nibbles" as they call it. Taro chips and crack dip were yum and a nice handful of chips not too much and not too little. Hurricane fries - to die for! Plenty of furikake, parmigiano reggiano and spicy aioli. The girls who brought our food were very nice and made sure we had what we needed to enjoy, bringing us waters too. They also had a smash burger for $25 but we had dinner rez later so didn't want to indulge but it looked good. It might be cute if you wanted to do a private party here and I noticed a room across with a beautiful large table set up for a private dinner - not sure if part of hotel or bar.

Arriving at 6:30pm, there was a line to be seated and when we were seated, we were at a nice table facing the beach, but we were on the opposite side where the stage Johnny was performing. Also, we were next to the bar and it was quite noisy. After ordering our drinks, which I got the Royal Sunset Ale, we spotted a table near the stage and asked our waitress if we could move there. She checked and said we could move there. It was a nice center table about 20ft from the stage and we could hear Johnny perform without the bar noise. Johnny is Hawaii's premier entertainer, who is Bruno Mars' uncle, is known for his vocal range and guitar skills. He performed Hawaiian songs and had a hula dancer on stage with him and he covered popular songs. He also came by our table during an intermission and graciously took pictures with us.
