Deep dish was only a ~2.0, so overall it's really entrenched as a 3. This is a well run operation, always ready on time, no ambiguities arise when placing the order. This feeling of reliability and consistency is almost taken too far in that the interior and brief pick-up experience comes off as sterile (through no fault of the employees, who seem efficient w/out a negative attitude). The lack of character in the décor (keeping in mind they are BYOB and carry-out/delivery driven) ironically/subconsciously seeps into the pizza. The thin crust is good (pic is of green pepper+mushroom), but nothing jumps out. The price is where it should be given upper middle-class location, and the hours are good (although not open for lunch weekdays, I'll gladly trade for that 10-11p hour). It's reliable and good to have in the rolodex, but will most likely come to mind based off availability rather than specific craving. read more

They have great deep dish, but I've always been partial to Chicago thin crust square cut-- theirs is fantastic with any topping combo I've tried. I've always gotten excellent service; I've ordered delivery, pickup, and dine-in. I used to tutor some kids here after school. We weren't high-paying customers and kept the table for an hour but we were treated with kindness and respect every time. Their French fries and brownies are also notably great. My sister and her family were visiting us over the Thanksgiving weekend and really wanted to try deep dish pizza. We decided to grab a to-go order from Bartoli's Pizzeria. The online ordering system is not very user-friendly but we patiently worked through it. I picked up my food and headed home. It was at home that we discovered our pizza was the wrong order. I had ordered a half and half of two different kinds of pizza. Not sure if they were unable to do it but it would have been nice if we received a phone call or something but I double checked the receipt that was attached on the pizza box and the order on the receipt was correct - so that was pretty disappointing. We ended up receiving the Chicago style deep dish and it was just taken over with so many onions (more than all the other toppings combined) so that was just unexpected and overwhelming. I ordered on GrubHub and as I walked my pizza from the gate to my door I thought, did they give me a stuffed crust pizza because it's extremely happy and I ordered thin. Let me just say, their deep dish is THEEE best deep dish I've ever had. I'm a Chicago grown and native, I eat deep dish on the regs. From Giordanos, Lou's, Ginos east, Pequods, and don't get me wrong they're all amazing in their own way. But Bartoli's combines whats amazing about each place into one, its the best of all the worlds. It has a thinner crust which really lets the cheese and sauce shine, and boy do they ever! It has the traditional thick crust around the edge which is where you can really enjoy it in its entirety and have the crunchiness at the end. For me this pizza hits all the notes perfectly, everything Ive wanted in a deep dish and finally found. Plus best part is that they deliver to us and when it came is was pipping hot. And pizza heats up so damn good too, just throw it on the pizzaz or even your oven. TBH i've microwaved this on a drunk night too and the crust still maintained its decency! So, two visits to Bartoli's, I will say that while this pizza is NOT the same as Gino's East (as some online reviews/blogs have stated), it is still darn good. I know the there is a family relationship with Gino's and the crust is very similar, but the sauce isn't the same (a bit sweeter in my opinion). I would only say this because Gino's is my favorite, so I was really hoping to have something almost identical... However, change is good and I have to say that Bartoli's makes a quality product. The pizza is delicious, heavy on the cheese and sauce, and is piping hot - even when getting delivery on a freezing cold day. I haven't eaten in ever as I feel like the dining area is somewhat impersonal, but sign me up for some amazing take out from Bartoli's. I also like how the pizza is relatively prompt considering that it's freshly made and even for deep dish, doesn't take forever to make. Definitely a quality product, so what are you waiting for? Deep dish is a must if you're in Chicago and this place is definitely one of the top deep dishes I've ever had. Service and environment was great and friendly. Last time we ordered a pizza from here, it was the wrong pizza and when we called about it and someone that said he was "a manager" didn't apologize, make any offers to fix it, and talked down to me. We gave it another try tonight but found an actual string of COPPER WIRE (see photos) the size of my finger that my boyfriend had to pull out of his mouth when eating. Actually, I ordered their pizzas via Goldbelly. I'm from Chicago, so, I know pizza! This was the worst pizza I have ever had. I followed the cooking directions perfectly. The crust was soggy, the pizza had absolutely no flavor whatsoever. How can Italian Sausage be absolutely flavorless? The onions were also very soggy. I just don't know. I'll either throw out the remaining three pizzas or try to add some spices to give those remaining pizzas some sort of pizza flavor! $109 for 4 pizzas. Of course, shipping out of state is expensive and it was free to me, but for this kind of money, their pizzzas should have been at least as good as a Home Run Inn pizza I can buy in the frozen section of my grocer. We ordered delivery last night after having seen it on Chicago's Best. Given that we watched people on tv going gaga over the pizza, maybe our expectations were a little too high. It wasn't the worst pizza I have ever had by far, but with so many pizza options in the city, you have got to be crème de la crème and for me, this wasn't it. We went thin crust. The crust was okay. For me, it was overly salty. I'm thinking that came from the sausage, but either way, it was much too much salt for me and the sauce left a lot to be desired. I wished the sauce was a bit more on the sweeter side. I think that would have cut the salt a little and given the pizza an overall flavor that could have set it apart from all of the competition. Been coming here a few years now, as I work in the area. Ranks at the #1 spot for thin crust pizza in the city for me. But they offer the best of both worlds cause their deep dish is pretty great too. Their sauce has a distinct flavor that stands out. The staff is also super nice. Wow, it's hard to find a truly good thin crust even in Chicago! This is a welcome addition to the neighborhood, seems to be well run/ busy/ Well Staffed- service is efficient. Tried a thin crust and it was definitely good- Good Crust/ Great Sauce/ Quality Ingredients. Definitely go with the Sausage over the Pepperoni, the Pep seemed rather "Greasy"? It's kind of a shame that Bartoli's business is focused primarily on take-out and delivery, because its little dining room near the corner of Damen and Addison has got plenty of charm, at least on a beautiful 70-degree June evening when the windows were open. Bartoli's was around the corner from the Roscoe Village apartment we were staying in for a long weekend in the city and seemed like it'd be an ideal stop-in for a casual and leisurely dinner after a long-ish drive. It was. Bartoli's offers both deep-dish and thin-crust pizza. As out-of-towners, we are no deep-dish experts, but I'd say Bartoli's was above average. We also ordered the Italian salad to share; it was pretty plain but fresh enough and tossed beforehand, which is always a nice touch. The little dining area is very woody, cozy, and comfortable. But because Bartoli's business model is focused on take-out, they offer only paper and plastic plates and bowls and dinnerware. And no alcohol, but the Sarah Mart across the street has plenty of beer for you to BYO. A notch short of four stars. read more

My husband and I had a hankering for za, and wanted to try somewhere new. What's nice is that the prices are very reasonable and there are many topics to select from, and the restaurant is BYOB. It's definitely not a romantic, candelit type of place, but the staff was friendly and the service was quick. We got thin crust and it was quite cheezy. Husband likened it to Moretti's style of pizza. Honestly, I wasn't overly impressed with food quality. It wasn't bad pizza, it just wasn't my fave style of neopolitan pizza - my own tastes are more Reno, Piece, Spacca Napoli. This place has really solid pizza. Their other food is good as well. I live really close, so I go there a couple of times a month. The fact that they sell individual slices is huge for me. Chicago is full of good pizza places. If I moved away, I probably wouldn't go out of my way to get this or to order it, but as long as I live in the area, it's a great go-to spot. Bartolli's is our new neighborhood favorite. We have had their pizza delivered more than a handful of times over this summer and are more than excited over their mouth-watering pizza...to the point that we fight over our pizza leftovers. We get our special mix of sausage, mushroom, bell pepper and pineapple and they do it right every time on a thin crust. It's just a touch well done to make the cheese a touch brown and the crust nice and crispy on the outside. It's amazing. Don't take my word for it, you have to try it for yourself! Bartoli's pizza is pretty good. Here's why I'll patronize Bartoli's as long as I live remotely close to them. 1 week after my wife and I got back from our honeymoon, we went on a weekend trip. We got back late-ish Sunday night and hadn't had dinner. We planned to eat a frozen pizza from our fridge. To our suprise, our refrigerator had broken at some point over the prior 3 days and all of our food was spoiled. Never go here! The rudest place I've ever done business with. Tried to order online and the website was acting up so I called to confirm that it even worked. When I picked up my CHEESE PIZZA it had no cheese and the receipt said No Cheese under it. I called to ask why and they were SO rude and said I ordered it that way so that's what I got. My favorite thin crust in Chicago, their deep/stuffed is pretty good, too. Their thin crust isn't quite Chicago tavern style. Think softer, lighter, yet crisp and buttery. Hard to describe, but best in the game. Highly recommend their Italian wings and Caesar salad -mostly for the dressing. Ive gone in there just to buy sides of Caesar dressing before. I usually order delivery. I want say it's a 15 min drive To get to my house from their location. Their delivery sucks, and slowly I'm coming to realize their pizza is not as tasty anymore. Delivery has been more than 60 min more like 85 - 90 min. The past few times I ordered the pizza arrives cold and soggy, and not even that it almost tastes like they gave me a pizza that has been sitting there for awhile, AND I FOUND A HAIR HALF WAY THROUGH MY PIZZA!!
