I've been here a few times over the years. My friends like to come here. It hasn't really been a place for me as a vegetarian, but that's changed! We came here for a birthday specifically for the 100 Hour Marinated ribeye for my friend. She had been talking about it for weeks. Unfortunately, the night we came to celebrate, it was not available. She was crushed. I jokingly said "we can go somewhere else". I'm guessing the server thought I was serious because later the chef came to our table and offered her a special treat. It was very nice of them. She ended up with the Redfish special and she liked it. But it was a huge disappointment anticipating this dinner for weeks. My dinner on the other hand exceeded expectations. I had not been here for many years. I don't recall the House-made veggie burger being on the menu previously. I tried it. It was excellent. Brown rice, mushrooms, beets, jack cheese, and other goodies. The avocado basil slather was perfection. It's not easy to find a really good veggie burger these days. So many places try to make them taste like meat. This was a true old school Veggie Burger - such a treat. Our server was attentive and was really great. Drinks were good. Margarita was very tasty.

Bartlett's used to be Houston's, and from what I understand the franchisee bought the restaurant and renamed it after himself. Even now as it's been Bartlett's for many years, you can still feel some of that Houston's DNA in the atmosphere and menu. The vibe lands somewhere between upscale casual and classic steakhouse. It reminded me a bit of those old-school Steak and Ale-type places. It's a step above casual dining chains like Applebee's or TGI Fridays, but I wouldn't put it in the same category as Austin's highest-end spots like Uchi. It's more of a polished, comfortable place that still feels approachable. The dining room has a warm, almost wine-cellar feel, with exposed brick and fairly low lighting. When we visited on a weeknight it was packed, so I highty recommend making a reservation. The crowd seemed to be a mix of business dinners, client meetings, and people celebrating occasions. We were there for my mom's birthday, which felt like a perfect reason to go. It's the kind of place that works well for a special dinner, a date night, or entertaining clients. Everything we ordered was excellent. The Hickory Smoked Salmon appetizer was a great start, and the French Dip and the Chimichurri Steak Sandwich were worth getting again. They also brought out a dessert for my mom's birthday that everyone at the table enjoyed. Service was friendly and professional throughout the meal.

I grew up in California eating at Hillstone and Houston's when I found out this location was owned by them previously I was skeptical.. turned out being absolutely the same and fantastic (even with it being take out) 10/10

One of the very best restaurants in the entire state of Texas. This is an excellent place with its dark candlelight lit like atmosphere, and incredibly skilled and professional staff that make you feel like you're at a classy country club in New York. The prices aren't cheap (keeps the riff raff away) and it's difficult to leave without spending $100 but trust me, if you want to go on a casual date and impress, or if you just simply wanna have the best service you're going to get all year, it's worth it to stop by Bartlett's to get some of the most delicious food the city offers. As for me personally, I'm a big fan of the spinach artichoke dip and the French dip sandwich with the Ajou sauce on the side.

Best steak house on Burnet road by far! Service is always upscale and food is so delicious. Highly recommend for any occasion! Make sure to dress nice and would definitely recommend making a reservation before hand. Place can get a little loud but I've found 1:30pm is the perfect time to go if you plan on being chatty.

Barlett's continues to earn its spot on the "ATX's iconic" list for consistently providing first-class service and fare ... service is always impeccable, attentive but not overbearing. Water glasses stay full, advice about the menu on point, pace of the meal appropriate. A separate staff hustles food out of the kitchen, so it comes out piping hot (or cold as needed). Steaks and seafood ruled the table this visit, all cooked to perfection, astutely seasoned. Nice wine accompanied dinner, and dessert, key lime pie, was the perfect ending to a delightful meal. Highly recommend you stop by Bartlett's!

Bartlett's is one of those places that reminds you why it's a classic. From the moment you walk in, the staff is incredibly warm and welcoming, setting the tone for a relaxed and enjoyable dining experience. The prime rib is the star for a reason--perfectly cooked, tender, and full of rich flavor. The smoked salmon is smooth and savory and makes a great start to the meal. The cocktails are well-crafted and balanced, perfect for sipping and unwinding. Do not miss the grilled artichokes--they're smoky, flavorful, and addictive. And the salads are impressively sized, fresh, and generous enough to share. With excellent food, thoughtful service, and a comfortable, upscale atmosphere, Bartlett's continues to be a go-to spot that never disappoints. Brilliant Dining

We live less than a mile from Barletts and have never been...and so glad we finally did! It's such a nice, fancy interior that you would never guess from the outside. Service is extremely prompt, helpful, and attentive. We had a reservation on a Saturday night and this would definitely be needed-it was packed! I felt a bit self conscious visiting vegan, but the waiter was very accommodating and assured me the veggie burger without cheese and bun replaced was vegan, along with the side of quinoa. It was a huge portion and really good! My husband got the regular burger and shoestring fries and enjoyed it as well. I ordered a mocktail (only one on menu) but didn't see the asterisk/notation that it is made with sweet and sour with raw egg maybe they add a second mocktail without raw egg for pregnant women?? We had a very nice time and I would absolutely recommend!

It had been awhile since I had been here and so glad to put it back on my rotation. This place is an Austin institution for solid American fare with great friendly service. The dining area is filled with mostly booths (some tables) and is dim with over table lightning - a throwback to an era where dining was cozy and warm. Food here is solid - with my go to being the prime rib (served au jus) with garlic whipped potatoes (which I forgo in favor of a loaded baked potato). The salads are a great starter. Speaking of which - an off the menu crab cake also makes a fantastic starter or double it up for an entree portion with a side. Cheaper than a steakhouse and just a great solid meal.

Fine dining and wine; excuse the typo that's whining. Known about Houstons slash rebranded Bartlett's for years but never had the pleasure of dining here. Literally, old club events happened less than half a mile south at the old Frisco and sadly Waterloo. In an attempt to find an upscale restaurant for our needs I made a reservation on a recent Saturday. Called the day before as we were trending a bit less. Thought I had it covered and nine car peeps showed up. You read that, 9 hungry diners eager to have a social. It doesn't seem like a big number but it was a breaking point for our reservation. Hey old Bart; I could have brought 30 and not known. So, this restaurant is NOT large party or group friendly. I get it; boils down to limited space. Observations: Patio would have been accommodating except there are not enough chairs for the long concrete table. You literally made a major player in the Austin real estate market stand so his GF could have a seat. Chivalry isn't dead in Austin. Food: I spent more than $50 on a 12 ounce Prime Rib when I would have gotten triple the meat at the Salt Lick in Driftwood for $5 more. Food across the experience was fine but when you factor we spent half the dining experience eyeing chairs to steal. Thankfully, the party at the other end of the long table presented us with chairs as they left. A generous act from other diners and not the restaurant. Front of house after initial interactions did j*ack sh*t. Eric couldn't find a solution for our diemma so we made our own path.

I love Bartletts. I've been coming here for FOREVER! It's always consistent and best prime rib in town and bang for your buck! We always get the prime rib and a French drip sandwich. It's the best. Great wine menu and cocktails. Today my daughter had the filet and always a Cesar salad with avocado. Just yummy! I always leave satisfied and wanting to come back for more.

We had a delicious meal at Bartlett's. I forgot to get our waiter's name not he was excellent. He had short hair with cool chunky glasses. We started off with the Grilled Artichokes and Dip. They were excellent. We split that Thai Mango Salad. It had the right amount of tanginess and spiciness. I had the Famous French Drip and my cousin had that Kansas Strip. Both were excellent. The only thing I was not a fan of was the Cauliflower Quinoa mix. I would pass on that next time. The food and service was excellent. The atmosphere was upscale but more casual than a fancy steak house. We will definitely come back again.

    Is there a happy hour?

I'd give them a call. Great staff!

Is there a happy hour menu? Nothing is listed on their website or social media.

No, Bartlett's does not and has never had a happy hour menu for food or drinks.

What hours are considered lunch at Bartlett's?

I lunch menu runs to at least 3PM.

I called to order a salad ($16.00) and spinach dip ($12.00) and was told the total was $40.00 due to take out fees (I was picking up)That is a lot, especially during a pandemic and that is before tip! Not sure why there is such a fee?

I've never ordered carry out from Barlett's. That said, $12.00 "take out fee" is outrageous, especially since you're picking up! I would order from someplace else.

Do you have a dress code?

No I mean I've seen guys with shorts Usually not tank tops and gym apparel. Most of the customers are dressed fairly nice

    When is happy hour?

I said this was my first time here, and that I was excited to try them. She was super polite, very friendly. She sat me at a booth. She walked away for a quick minute and came back with a water glass and a small pitcher of ice cold water. My server came around. And gave me my menu and said you gotta try the whiskey Cake. Cake? Did someone say cake? Yes please. With cake on my mind. I thought I better balance this out. So I played it safe and got the grilled chicken salad. Also she said everything is house made from scratch, such as the cocktails, juice, salad dressing and so on. I did order a juice from the bar. It was the Jessica Wabbit with mint, carrot, lime, ginger, and some other flavors. The drink was handed to me first. Lovely flavors, could taste the fresh mint, fresh ginger. A little sweetness with the pineapple. Brilliant mix of flavors. The salad was very large. Dressing was fresh, rich with basil and garlic. Chunks of bacon and wedges of hard boiled eggs, avocado chunks, blue cheese scattered around, and the grilled chicken, warm juicy and beautifully chard. Love that charred flavor. The salad dressing was really delectable. Wonderful salad. Next came the whiskey cake. This cake should be its own food group. The whiskey cake is probably this restaurant's saving grace as the cake is decadent moist, and the combination of the pecans with the caramel and the whipped cream all just make it so delicious. It was definitely worth the wait to have it at the end and in retrospect, it probably would have done well to have first since the food that we ordered was a little more on the lackluster side. I found it hard to be impressed by the prime rib and Gouda stack as they were no defining flavors for this rather expensive sandwich and the mac and cheese was also not very memorable. When it comes to the service provided at the restaurant, there were many times where it felt as though our table had been forgotten to be waited upon, despite there not being many other people at the restaurant. Overall, I think my experience at Whiskey Cake was OK and while I may not return for the food necessarily, I would for the cake.

We decorated all of them with the brussels sprouts, being the favorite. For main course, we had crispy chicken thighs, Wagyu cheeseburger, and chicken and rabbit Mole. Everyone really enjoyed their meals. We finished with banana fosters Beignets. Plenty for 5 of us to share. Will definitely come back

We were excited to try the food, and were hungry. Our server appeared (I can't remember his name but he was a short guy with blond hair). I ordered a cocktail and my husband ordered beer to begin with. He went away and then came back asking my husband if he wanted some whiskey cocktail, and we corrected him that we had asked for a particular beer. No big deal. We then ordered the deviled eggs and shishito peppers, and the red fish and short ribs for entree. A lady brought us the drinks, and the deviled eggs. Our server swung by and then disappeared. We thought the shishito peppers were on their way. We waited for what seemed like a really long time and still no shishito peppers. We also noticed that each table had a carafe of water except ours. We were just given water once, and then our server never bothered to fill the water up. Anyway, we kept waiting since there was no sign of the server. At this point, we felt he might have forgotten the second appetizer and we just did not want it, but he was nowhere to be found. A man (not our server) brought out our entrees. We then told him that we had been waiting for our second appetizer and would just want to cancel it. We asked if we could get the biscuits instead. He brought out the biscuits within a few minutes. Now this is where it really annoyed us. Had our server just come over and said he had forgotten our shishito peppers, it would have been okay. Human. What he tried was act smart and dropped by saying the shishito peppers would be out to which we said that we didn't want an appetizer after an entree and had cancelled it. I almost felt like he was treating us as if he thought we don't really dine out or whatever and he could just make fools of us. This really didn't sit right with me. We asked him for water and he filled it up left. The food was above average. The short ribs were good but my red fish had been hammered! The biscuits were good. The deviled eggs were good as well. Anyway, we finished our meal, and got the check, paid, and were waiting to finish our drinks. The receipt was on our table. Also, note, it was not a particularly busy day with several empty tables. What our server did next was absolutely unacceptable. I think he wanted to see if we had tipped him after his awful service. We did, but not 20% as we always do because of the soddy job he did, not to mention his attitude. We paid 15% which I think was more than what he deserved now. Out of nowhere, and mind you, after being absent for long periods before, he just came by, grabbed the paid up bill from our table to our shock, while we were still sitting and talking, looked at the bill, turned towards us, and muttered something angry under his breath and walked away. I have never seen this level of entitlement and bad behavior. We left right away. We had been really looking forward to this meal but I would not want to go back. The food was good, but not great, and I would not want to put up with such obnoxious behavior as a paying customer.
