    Chicken Shawarma Plate

Yummy, fresh Lebanese food. Probably the best baklava I've ever had. Really enjoyed the salads that came with the plates and Barouk's homemade hot sauce. Friendly customer service. Just a small seating area, mostly set up for to-go but still very comfortable to dine in!

I think the last place rebranded as Barouk - a new humble Lebanese spot in Park Slope. The interior is super clean, dessert section is huge. They sell fried chicken in addition to meat over rice, Shawarma and other Lebanese staples. Guy working the counter on Saturday was super kind, and hooked me up with a chicken sandwich. I asked for extra garlic, and he did not disappoint. The garlic spread here is pungent, and just how I like it. Meat was prepared fresh and the vegetables and pickles were also fresh, pita bread was also toasted nicely and the portion was generous. A pretty great sandwich for $12 if you ask me. A lot of people from the neighborhood seem to be stopping by and grabbing food here, they do have some seating inside, but I think the vibe is mostly take out. I really do want to try their baklava next time, it looked really good, but I was too full for anything sweet. If you live in the area, definitely stop by here and give them a shot!!

During my first visit to the Middle East in 1975 two things that really impressed me were the delicious middle eastern food and the middle eastern tradition of welcoming guests. Both are in full display at Barouk! Abdullah, the owner, will give you a warm welcome and prepare for you authentic tasting Lebanese food. Be sure to try the humus, baba ganooj, meat pie, zatar bread and shawarma but leave room for dessert! As others have mentioned, the restaurant is spotlessly clean and seems to cater to takeout but there are a few tables at which to sit to enjoy a relaxed meal if you so choose!

Delish!! Wonderful, kind service. Can't wait to come back. Top 3 Hummus I've had in my lifetime...

    Malfouf was delicious!!

When you…read morewalk in, you are immediately greeted by a giant oven baking fresh pita as well as an open kitchen. There is also an outdoor dining area, as well as a mid-sized dining room and we were seated near the window. Sawa serves Lebanese cuisine with some more modern dishes. Additionally, they have a mostly Lebanese wine list, which gave us an opportunity to try some new wines. We ordered both a red and a white for the table, and I was especially drawn to the red, as the red was served chilled, light-bodied, and very enjoyable. Nearly all of the reds and whites on the menu are from Lebanon, with just one red from Morocco, plus a couple sparkling options from Lebanon as well. We started with several dips for the table: hummus, baba ghannouj, and muhammara. The hummus was incredibly smooth, and the muhammara was especially flavorful with large pieces of walnut throughout. Everyone at the table receives fresh pita, and we ended up ordering a few more to share. We also shared the Brussels sprouts and the snap peas. The Brussels sprouts were rich and flavorful, but the snap peas really stood out. They were unlike anything I have tasted before, intensely mint, served with garlic mint labneh, and very delicious. For mains, we focused on lamb: two orders of the lamb ribs, two orders of the kafta, and two orders of the sfeeha. We probably over-ordered by about one entrée, but otherwise it was the right amount of food for six people. The lamb ribs were phenomenal, fall-off-the-bone tender and packed with flavor. The lamb pies were also very good and came with a delicious dipping sauce. The kafta was good, though not quite as memorable as the other lamb dishes, but still very satisfying. Service was attentive throughout the meal, and despite the number of dishes on the table, the staff handled everything smoothly. The table got a little crowded at times, but it was manageable. I would absolutely recommend Sawa, especially for anyone who enjoys trying something a little different. They do classic Lebanese dishes very well, while also offering some creative dishes that feel unique and memorable. I am already looking forward to going back.

I have a lot of Pros so i'm gonna start with really the only con. Con: it was pretty loud in the main room. Food: the Dorade and lamb meatballs were both awesome, the Chicken and Saffron butter was great as well. If youre gettting the pita and mezze, get more pita than you'd expect. It's some of the beg pita our family had ever had. The hummus was great but the babaganoush was killlerrrrr. My family had a field day on the syrian cheese and hot honey. I loved the grape leaves and charred eggplant. For dessert, ordered the tiramisu, date sticky pudding, and the rhubarb tart. The date sticky pudding was kind of like a date brownie and the toffee topping was insane. It was so rich and potent. tiramisu was good, but we could have done another Tart. It was so vibrant and refreshing, it was the first to go and if we wouldn't have already been stuffed, we would have ordered another. Service was great, and very accommodating. I can't have sesame seeds, and they took it off of everything we ordered, no mistakes there and much appreciated!

We tried a good bit of dishes and my faves were the pita (so soft & fluffy), kebab karaz, rakakat (so rich), smashed cucumbers & charred eggplant. On a Friday evening, my friend and I came in as walk-ins and got a spot at the bar. The space is a bit tight, but it works if you don't make a reservation ahead of time. I was pretty hungry, and everything we ordered was more than enough food. To start, we had the Whipped Ricotta ($14), Muhammara ($14), and Chicken Shawarma Hummus ($18). Absolutely loved every dip, which were all different in its own ways that I can't even choose a favorite. The ricotta was a sweet one that gave a nice contrast from the savory spices of the other two. I liked how much chicken they added for the hummus too, so you're getting almost a whole meal. You'll definitely need extra pita for all this, which does fill you up. We did also get a Radicchio Salad ($19) for some greens plus a Beef Kofta Skewer ($20) for some meat. Both of these dishes were solid, but could pass on them next time. Definitely recommend any of the mezze and hummus here; it's all you need. This is a really great date spot or group dinner. Perfect to have a drink or two while enjoying some pita and dips mostly.

Muhamara - a bit too flavored if that's makes sense? The spices overpower the base flavor a bit . Also it's on the dry side. I like muhamara a little more smoother. Not my favorite muhamara Ricotta - very creamy and smooth, almost like a sweet cream cheese or creamy condensed milk. A bit nostalgic Short ribs - a little sweet, nice balance of flavor profile with the meat, vegetables and hummus. A bit on the spicier side with a kick. Pita is soft and warm very fresh, quite good!! Eat while it's still warm because it does get less good the longer you wait.
