I was recommend to go to the restaurant after I told my friend I was craving mashawi. She said jt is her favourite mashawi spot. I really liked the kafta and chicken and meat. It was kind of a small plate but I shared it with someone. The baba gaboush was really good too, perfect consistently. The taboolie was great, and I saw someone ordered a normal size and it was very large. The server was really nice as well. I also thought the decor inside was very nice. This restaurant looks very nice and serves tasty food, but it has an extremely serious problem. About 4 tables away from us was a group of 5 men who were all smoking cigars. My better half had breathing problems and had to leave due to her asthma. THERE IS NO SMOKING IN NY RESTAURANTS, YET WHEN WE SPOKE TO THE OWNER, ALL HE DID WAS SHRUG HIS SHOULDERS. We loved it. The service is amazing. We had the chicken cubes and beef shawarma. They were so nice that even though they made a mistake by giving us fries vs rice what we ordered they let us have both. They went well above and beyond and we are looking forward to going again. I tried this Lebanese restaurant, and I wanted to share my experience. The food was ok, but it could be improved much better, the amount of salt was pretty masking the flavors. Nothing was freshly made, we ordered hommoss it was ok but watery, baked kebbe has no taste and not freshly baked and the meat was too hard, pumpkin kebbe fried and heavily oily, grape leaves oily and not acidic, samke harra was good and tasty. The service was acceptable, we asked the waiter for drink menu, they don't have one. Ambiance is cool and nice decor. If you are Lebanese and tried the food in Lebanon, you will be disappointed, but if you never tried Lebanese food, then I would recommend it to try. read more

I came here to have an early Christmas get together with my company. We were lucky enough to know the chef so we purposed to have everything family style. Portions are very generous! They're huge and so very flavorful. The staff was friendly and gave us really good service. I heard this place was authentic Lebanese / Arabic food and I totally see why. The flavors and delicious. The chef use the right amount of spices to elevate all his dishes. I forgot to take pictures of the appetizers but oh my gosh. Everything was so good. We had cold appetizers and hot ones. I loved the falafel the most. Our entrees were huge platters to share with everyone. The lamb was tender, over perfectly cooked rice. The toasted almonds gave the whole dish a crunchy texture. The gravy was liquid gold being spooned over my rice. The fried fish was tender with a side of steamed veggies. The lamb and chicken kebabs were so moist and flavorful: I loved the lamb the most! I can promise you this place is delicious. I have never had a problem with ordering or dining. Staff is always attentive. I have never seen anyone smoke hookah in there. Maybe previous reviewers caught them on a random day. Being Syrian this food Taste's just like my mom's. Extremely authentic and fresh. Everything is delicious. I especially like the chicken kabob platter. The batata appetizer is delicious. Babaganoush, kibbeh, lamb dish with rice all good. I've never had a complaint about this place. Ordered food for 16-20 adults, paid 510 dollars. They sent enough food for about 10 adults. Everyone there was shocked at how little food they sent over. Manager "helped me" put the order together and gave me the final price. A complete rip off. When I called to ask if trays were missing, owner became aggressive and unhelpful. I recently visited Le Sajj on a trip to New York with my mom and her friend and we decided to try this place because we love mediterranean food. The food was great and the ambiance if the restaurant was amazing as well. We visited in the early afternoon right around when they opened so it felt like we had the restaurant to ourselves lol. Our server, Axel, was very nice and friendly and he even brought us complimentary watermelon as a kind gesture. I loved the experience and would definitely return :) read more

We were assured they had traditional Lebanese dishes that would remind them of their childhood upbringing so how can one refuse such a suggestion. Glad to report back that our experience was a good one. We opted in for quite a few of their cold appetizers with their selection plentiful and in line with good Lebanese restaurants. The amount of food was respectable but a bit underwhelming when considering the price point. Fortunately the taste and freshness was excellent!! The Lebne and the Lebanese salad are definitely dishes to consider. With soo many choices we can't wait to go back. As for our main course we opted to split the mixed meat dish. This included a Kafta kabob, Chicken kabob and a Lamb Kabob -- all three were good but the chicken was the star !! This is probably my most favorite Lebanese restaurant on this planet. I love the ambiance the food selection is impeccable to say the least, absolutely excellent! From the friendly owner Marwan, to the food and the decor and the musiciens, everything transport you to Lebanon. The delicious deserts, drinks and hookah are also worth trying. He had the shawrma plate with fries while I had some kind of kebab dish. Food was absolutely atrocious and disgusting. The phrase 'I guess I ordered the wrong thing' is practically a cliche. After eating here, I can see why. So yeah... Here's the deal. Hubby, kid, Mom and I shared several plates, mezze style and the whole experience was a roller coaster of extremes in terms of the food: The Highs: Kibbe aka fried, filled bulgur-crusted 'torpedoes.' - Both the Meat and Pumpkin-filled Kibbe were the stars of our meal. Beautifully seasoned fillings. Perfectly fried. The Pumpkin Kibbe was a bit surprising since it seemed to consist mostly of spinach and chickpeas and I couldn't really detect any squash... but really, really lovely nonetheless. Spinach Pie - This consisted of 4 mini triangular pies, featuring pizza-like crust, rather than filo as tends to be typical in Middle Eastern restaurants. Another big winner. Fattoush: We make this classic Middle Eastern Salad, which features bits of crisped pita standing in for croutons, at home. So I really wanted to order something more interesting instead, but hubby insisted. And sometimes you gotta wave the white flag for little battles like this. Happily, hubby was vindicated 'cause this was good. The Lows: Hummus Beiruty: With its addition of chopped tomatoes, tahini, and chiles, as described on the menu, I figured we couldn't go wrong. But apparently, we could. I imagined this would be topped with a dollop of tahini and then lots of chopped tomatoes and chiles, and a drizzle of EVOO. Instead, these ingredients were incorporated within. Thus, the Hummus was vaguely spicy, but otherwise tasted flat and in need of better seasoning, including lemon, garlic and salt 'n pepper. I wanted to pick up on the earthy, rich, nutty flavor of tahini and got none of that, and there was just the barest hint of chopped tomato that made no impact whatsoever. I would not order this again and would probably hesitate to order their other Hummus dishes too. Shish Barak: I have wanted to try this Middle Eastern-style stuffed dumpling dish for years and was so excited to see it on this menu. So it was especially bummer-inducing that this turned out to be utterly meh. The dumplings, which were sort of ravioli-like, were stuffed with a really ho-hum meat filling. Hubby noted the filling would have been better had it been seasoned in the same way as for the Kibbeh. He also bit into a couple that were cold, leading him to think that maybe they had been frozen beforehand. The Yogurt Sauce that accompanied this was a bit curdled too. Not worth $17. At all. Service was very welcoming and gracious, if a bit slow at times. And I liked that this is clearly a hub for family get togethers and celebrations. Ultimately, am not crazy about the fact that you seemingly have to order VERY strategically here to wind up with a good meal. But the Kibbeh was so delicious, am sure I'll return one way or another.:) read more

The main courses took 46 minutes to enter our table. After we decided to ask for our food . The lamb wasn't well done as asked, it had running blood the chicken kabobs was cold . the table received hookah but was 45 dollars and the bill was 15 dollars away from 300. Ordered desserts to go. Got to the place at the time whichever food app said to come. They didn't even know I ordered anything. After waiting 15 minutes they said they were out of baklava so I ordered something else. Knefe and khasta. After waiting another 15 minutes guy hands me the desserts and says he didn't warm it up because it would get cold by the time I get home so I should cook it myself. I live around the block about 100 yards away so was definitely irritated because I was bringing it to my little old Lebanese lady in my building so I had to lug it up my 3rd floor walk up warm it up and bring it down. I am conflicted in leaving this review as I want to support our local businesses. Food and outdoor service was great. When I went inside after finishing our meal to use the restroom, I was stopped by someone affiliated with the restaurant and told it was "only for customers". As a person of color, I was shocked but proceeded to use the restroom and planned to quickly leave. On the way out, the same person came up to me and apologized. I asked to speak to the management and he stated the manager was not there however "I am Middle Eastern and can't be racist" and "We are on a busy street and can't let anyone use the bathroom". Afterwards, I tried to find a way to contact management privately online to give feedback but couldn't. I think the food is fantastic but would recommend training for staff on sensitive issues such as racial profiling. Thanks. read more

I really want to love this place. The menu is awesome. I could order everything it all sounds delicious. I've ordered take out from here 3 times and all 3 times there's been a problem. First time food was delivered to the wrong address. I did get a replacement order but the whole process took 2 hours. The food was delicious through. Second time I ordered, half the order was missing. Then tonight I made a $110 order. After waiting 30 minutes I get a confirmation they could not fulfill the order and cancelled it. Normally I have a one chance rule, but I was willing to give this place the benefit of the the doubt but they've officially blown it. read more

A wonderful restaurant, extremely cozy and authentically Lebanese. My favorite Arabic restaurant in the tri-state area. Prices are very reasonable, all of the hot and cold appetizers are exquisite, the grilled entree options are predictably delicious, and they fry fish beautifully. The falafel is unbelievable. Moreover, Marwan, the owner and head chef, is a total class act who's very generous and clearly passionate about running a restaurant, cooking, and hosting customers. The waiters are very professional, too. All in all, a tremendous eating establishment that's stood the test of time and offers authenticity and impeccably clean food in a culinary scene increasingly getting dominated by catch-all "Mediterranean" chains.
