Place was almost empty during lunch save for a lot of family members and their friends at the counter, in the kitchen, and the sidewalk having endless gossip - which is all fine. Food was okay - I was left unimpressed and still hungry as it was mostly bones - a bit disappointing at a price for over $30 which is more than enough for one person to spend during lunch for himself without a drink. At least the pita bread was good - even though it's Israeli-style instead of Syrian. This Mizrahi (Syrian) Jewish Glatt kosher establishment is unique in New York, so I wanted to try it - but the offerings were a bit skimpy and bland for the price. Lamb spare ribs should come with a side, but none came. And I wasn't asked if I wanted any. Service is an additional issue here. When I went to the bathroom and then left, one worker immediately rushed into the bathroom only to... turn off the lights. Felt a little stingy, especially when the prices of the menu are a bit high for what it is. Had to call someone over multiple times. It's a family-and-friend business and they're often chatting with each other more than with the customers, so I think they're lacking somewhat in the hospitality front. There's a lot of restaurants around and until they seriously start showing what true Middle Eastern hospitality is like to differentiate their restaurant from others, I don't think they're going to do well in the long term. The food was very good but the atmosphere was not. It was very noisy acoustically and lots of children talking loudly. If you have children, this is the place to come as you won't have to really worry about extra noise. That said the food was good and fresh. This place never disappoints. They cook the food as per order, so its guaranteed to be fresh. Yes they are kosher and very very tasty. The brothers run this place and they are constantly busy with orders going out and people eating in. The wait staff is direct and friendly at the same time. I have never seen this place empty. Many times in the evening this place packs it in. Luckily i came around 130pm and there was plenty of seating. Upon arrival, the waitress will bring over fresh pita bread and sliced pickles. The pita is extremely fresh. I woud recommend you order their fresh hummus. Its a perfect marriage of both. For lunch, we ordered the skewered beef, which is the softest, most flavorful morsels you can imagine. Apparently there is a special supplier of this extremely tender beef. Its amazing. If you are into beef, get the baby chicken on the skewer. Again, it is very tender and nicey seasoned bursting with flavor. To accompany these meats, you have an assortment of additions. This time, we got the french fries, very freah, and rhe mijadra. Its rice with lentils with carmelized onions. The onions give a burst of flavor to this dish. Davids is small but I recommend going with a big appetite. This Israeli restaurant which has been around for over 50 years is easily one of the pioneers when it comes to serving Israeli meat dishes. The entrees are all delicious and fairly priced and they all come with two sides. I personally recommend getting both the rice and the beans which creates the ultimate side dish. However, one thing is certain, if you come to Davids the Hummus and Tehina should be mandatory. Overall, Davids is a modest looking place with a variety of Israeli foods. read more

I feel so stupid to have come to this place and took their hospitality in comfort even though no one was following DOH guidelines. No one was wearing their masks properly. After testing Negative the day before visiting this place and being completely fine, Me and my partner now are very Ill with COVID 3 days later at the same time which ruined our entire staycation that we took off from work. Whenever my family travels we order our davids dinner to be picked up in the taxi on our way home. Tehine ,Hummous ,kibbe ,Yemenite soup to start . WINGS!!! Shish kabob and shnitzel are my familys fave!! Next to mine Davids makes the best mejedreh . Its even crowded on a friday at 11 am ! The pandemic and the restrictions really took a toll . Our amazing continued to support them and ordered in weekly . Robby and his team followed every protocol... Its not easy standing over an indoor grill with masks but they did it !!! We were so happy to see them open and busy again ! Now the mayor wants to turn them into vaccine passport patrolmen . The lady gave us a good suggestion for the appetizers and brought us a huge pitcher of water. Notes: This is already one of my favorite kosher restaurants in NYC. It reminds me a restaurant called Z Deli, located in São Paulo, Brazil, where I used to go when I lived there. The food in both places tastes so similar, that made me feel a bit nostalgic, even the saltiness was the same. Yes, the food is a bit salty, but I don't mind it once in a while. Disclaimer: This is for take out only. I wanted a falafel for lunch, and my intern wanted soup. She keeps kosher, but luckily for us, in Brooklyn, that doesn't limit us so much. After a quick internet search we came upon David's. David's is a little far from us, but my intern offered to go pick it up so we didn't have to pay the delivery fee. We ordered a falafel and hummus plate to share, and she also got the yeminite soup. I placed the order and my intern walked over. The food was ready when she got there and still hot and delicious by the time she got back. I didn't have the yeminite soup, but my intern said it was amazing. The falafel? Huge, definitely glad she and I shared it. Delicious. Just what I wanted. The hummus. Just like mom makes, creamy. The price was up there with Kosher Meat restaurants, but it was worth it. Definitely recommend. Can't wait to go back here. I do wish though, they had more vegetarian dishes. But, I understand, it's a meat kosher place, so I shouldn't get my hopes up. read more

The best Middle Eastern restaurant I have ever been to. You have to start off with Yemenite soup. The beef is so tender, the broth is so deep and flavorful and full of spice. The chicken shishkebab with the house green hot sauce is tender and juicy. The chicken schnitzel is so perfectly crispy. The secret is crushed cornflakes. There is also fish fried the same way and that is pretty good as well. If you love Syrian/ Israeli food, David's is the best. Tastes just like grandmas would taste. Every course is delicious. I always start with hummus/ tehineh with their piping hot pita bread. Usually follow that with their shish kebob or baby chicken. Both items are insanely tender and flavorful. Their platters are great with 2 sides like menjedreh or okrah or rice but the price is a bit steep. Platters are definitely not worth $25. Price is really the only reason they don't get 5 stars. I'd say there's been a 40% price increase over the last 3 years or so. Still though, it's a delicious meal that doesn't break the bank. Would definitely recommend taking someone if you'd like to introduce them to Sephardic style food. They also have a good deal if you go with a bunch of friends that price fixe. Easily the best Sefardi/Israeli restaurant in Brooklyn, perhaps the best in all of NYC. Everything coming out of the kitchen here is delicious. And kosher. In fact, the quality of David's kosher kitchen is so impeccable that it's hard to believe it's actually kosher. Among my favorites are the couscous with vegetables (I wish only that it were served with some bullion). The spicy sausages, kofta, lamb chops & mixed grill are also scrumptious. The soups, starters & daily specials are hard to beat, & everything is served so generously that you'll probably be unable to consume your entire order unless your weight is already north of 300 lbs. Even the homemade hot sauce here is uniquely savory & aromatic. Service is friendly, quick & efficient. The ambiance at David's is informal & convivial, & many patrons seem to know each other. Nonetheless I always get takeout because the lighting here is so aggressively bright that you'll want to wear shades (the only reason I gave David's 4 stars rather than 5). Do ask for some of the fabulous hot sauce, or you'll have to do without. David's prefers cash, though all major credit cards are accepted. Finally, if you're French or have been to North African restaurants in Paris (whether kosher or not) & enjoyed the couscous & grilled meats you ate there, then David's is an absolute MUST for you. I can't stop thinking about the chicken schnitzel sandwich I just ordered to go from here and devoured along with A less than two hours ago. It was so good! Really the best chicken schnitzel sandwich I've ever had. The flavor from the tomato cucumber salad and the hummus was really good and the pita and chicken was so fresh. I rarely ever want to go back to places because I like trying new food but I will definitely be back to get this again. I went to David's Restaurant because we thought they'd have shawarma. They don't but they have a lot of great food. I got sweetbreads (they are not sweet not bread) in a pita . And my companion got chicken kabob in a pita . They brought us pita and assorted pickles when we say down . That was very good . The sweetbreads were probably thymus gland sweetbreads because those are the most common. They tasted like extremely good chicken. The chicken kabob sandwich apparently also tasted like chicken but it was supposed to . The service was very nice as well . The interior needs a little updating .
