I was turned on to the chicken soup from here by a friend a while back, but I never had it. It looked.good though. So I popped in a few days ago to get some. It was around 4pm on a Monday, not a holiday day either. I had to wait about 10 minutes before someone asked if they could help me. There were 2 other people in the store being helped. I had their order already packaged the other was eating in house. It seems like a neighborhood place because everyone knew each other. Anyways, one of the owners were cleaning out the frone case, had all the parts out and was doing a serious deep cleaning. Which is good to know they are so clean, but probably not the best time of day to do that. The other owner seemed overwhelmed with the order he was putting together for the 1st customer. Overall, I will definitely get the chicken soup again and probably try other items, as the place is spotless and the soup delicious. However, next time, I will call ahead. read more

While the food is ok for Kosher stuff, it's expensive, and not out of the ordinary for Mizrahi food. I've had most dishes (the sweetbreads and kofta stand out), but most are standard (not even basmati) rice with your basic chicken/baby chicken/steak with fries. The food isn't bad (and the service is good), but it you won't be missing anything if you don't make it. read more

It's got mostly an Orthodox crowd, but the staff is quite welcoming to those of us not Orthodox. It's home cooking, Sephardic style, not cheap (though quite reasonable w/a Restaurant.com coupon, as we did), but so substantial that you will likely take home lunch. You start with some gratis cole slaw and pickles and bread, and the entree sides are very substantial. The beef sausage was excellent, the fries fresh-cut, the okra a little sweet but nothing that a little rice and spice couldn't redeem the next day. Oh, and the baklava serving we split was large too. The food here is so delicious and authentic. Pretty much anything you order tastes wholesome - from the spreads (hummus and babaganush) to the hot dishes. And my favorites are the veggie sides - the okra is amazing, the tiny pickles are just pickly enough and what complements it all is the warm pita bread. Ate here last night with my kids and turns out I was invited for breakfast too. The meat was well cooked and the salads were very delicious but this morning the Shakshuka was not anything special and the falafel balls,were yummy but nothing like a falafel in Israel. It takes much for me to sit down and actually write a review on Yelp. This place did it for me. I was craving some homestyle Israeli food. The food was actually not bad at all. The waitress was very friendly as well. My gripes are with the price. My wife and I ordered the meatballs, side of kibbe, a soup, chicken nuggets (for the 6 year old) and a bean soup. What was the total charge? $85.00. I am not kidding. The prices on the menu are all faded and not correct. $27.00 for kids nuggets and a side of fries. Kibbe was two pieces. The meatballs, while tasty was $24.00 (less than the kids nuggets???). I frequent kosher many times and outside of a place in Phoenix I have never walked out feeling actually robbed. I made a comment to the waitress and she just smiled at me as if to say "yep, its crazy". So crazy I will never return. read more

Awful place. I walked in here today and my order wasn't even taken. The floors and walls look ancient and the refrigerator in the front was filthy. It was very unorganized. The guy in the front, which i guess was the manager, was extremely rude. Not that I got offended by him but he should definitely change his attitude towards his customers. As soon as 20 minutes passed and my order was still not taken, I decided to leave and eat somewhere else. Overall, my experience here was dreadful. Grill Point in Queens beats this place by a lot. I have walked past David Restaurant a few times and the place is always packed. I decided to try it out one late Friday morning at around 11 am. The two star review is for the service, the food is 3 stars. I was the only customer in the restaurant when I arrived but the service was very slow. The gentlemen behind the counter were taking lots of phone orders for pick up before Shabbos and told me to sit and that the lady would be right with me. I was finally given a menu about 10 minutes later. I ordered the Shakshuka and Guacamole Salad and was told that they did not have the Guacamole salad because they were out of avocados. I was able to see two cases of avocados on top of the beverage refridgerator in the dinning room. Fine, I will not squabble, no Guacamole salad. I asked for laffa. No laffa. What kind of Israeli place does not have laffa? but I digress..... Right after I ordered two men came into the restaurant and were promptly greeted. Their orders were taken within two minutes of them sitting down. I did not hear their order, however, their food arrived first and it was a few plates. My food came out about 15 minutes after I had ordered and it was just okay. I love Shakshuka and this really hit the spot, but I can make better Shakshuka at home, and more quickly. The server kept coming to the table of the two other customers and asking if they needed anything, etc. She did not so much as glance in my direction. It was obvious that I was finished, because my plate was empty, yet she did not even come to take the dirty plate from in front of me. I sat and waited about 30 minutes after I was finished eating, for someone to take the plate. The gentlemen at the other table had their dishes removed immediately, their check brought to them, they paid, and were out the door while I was still looking at a dirty plate. I stared at the woman for the last ten minutes I was there and she did not even acknowledge me. Finally, tired of it all, I walked to the counter and paid with the gentleman. It was absolutely ridiculous service. I was shocked by my wait time, especially since there were only two tables including mine. I will definitely try it again, as the food was not terrible. However, I think that I may make a phone order for pick up, as I saw so many people doing while I was there. read more

Finally a Kosher restaurant that is a 10. Everything was a 10.. They brought the bread and salads before my husband got back from washing. We got water. The salads were fresh. The techina was out of this world. I finally got to hear grilled chicken on a bone. The beans were yum. My hubby had the ribs. The waitress Miera was a 10, Finally I can work a 10 hour day and eat a real good meal.. thank you David's. Next time I will try the whole grilled fish and the rice lentil and onion side dish. read more

David's has been around for over 35 years. It's a kosher Israeli restaurant. The prices are in line for kosher food. It's all meat no dairy. they make delicious fish and they will make it anyway you like it; I love fried the best. All their salads are delicious and made fresh everyday. My boss just took me out here this past week. I'm starting to realize that perhaps there are a few Kosher restaurants out there. He's Jewish so when we go out it has to be Kosher. I'm really becoming a big fan of Middle Eastern food. We had pita bread with tahini, hummus and babagonoush. We also had some meat cigars and something called kubbeh I think. Very delicious. For the main we shared chicken, beef and a kaftah kebab. Everything was amazing. Love the way they marinate and spice the food. I just can't give Kosher restaurants 5 stars because of the prices. How do people survive financially if they are required to eat Kosher? $23 for Shish Kebab?? Sahara restaurant that I go to often on Kings Highway which is not Kosher charges like $9 for Shish Kebab and is also delicious. My boss explained all the reasons why it is so expensive so I understand but wow, just insane. Food was really good though. read more
