5/29/24 My brother introduced me to this "hole in the wall with great Shakshuka". The cozy restaurant is tiny with 2 tables on the ground floor but there is also seating upstairs. We had the freshly toasted sliced baguette with Zatar spiced cream cheese, pickled jalapenos, and pickled banana peppers. Then each of our Shakshuka was brought out individually by the owner. It was in a skillet, covered to stay hot. My shakshuka was fresh, flavorful, and prepared exactly the way I requested (eggs over hard instead of the typical over easy). The owner kept coming to check on all the customers and make sure they had everything they wanted. Before leaving the owner ran to the kitchen to prepare a Nite Toast for us to sample. It was so delicious. I may start with that next time. This was a wonderful homey experience with warmth, hospitality, and excellent food. read more

The Mefuneket sandwich may be simple, but is so so delicious! I love that it comes with some many fresh veggies. Moti the owner is so sweet. He's always checking in on everyone and making each customer feel like they're one of his friends. If you want more pepper, no problem! Moti will give you extra banana peppers or jalapeños if you ask. The store itself isn't the prettiest to look at, but the service and food more than make up for that. I highly suggest you come to Think Sweet for breakfast or lunch if you're in the neighborhood. read more

Picked up the Mefuneket sandwich, one of the few vegetarian based sandwiches I'll ever indulge in. The cream cheese really makes makes it pop imo, invented by Moti decades ago. I love their bread, many partrons often order this on the side with other garnishes. They also have a shakshuka dish if you prefer that instead. Here's a sandwich you don't see everyday. Per the owner's conversation with me; he's the one that invent this sandwich he called the Mefuneket (a vegetarian kosher sandwich) and everybody loves it. Gave this sandwich a try and I do like it; it's got chopped boil egg, sweet pepper, onions, cucumber and some tomatoes, slather with some lite mayo. Walked in off the street because I have a sweet tooth and going by it's name I thought I was in for some sugary treats. Boy was I wrong! I ordered up some Shakshuka and I was very happily greeted with some of the best eggs I ever had. They kicked it up a notch with some spice and I'm now a fan of this place. Think Sweet, Moti, the ethnic vibe and, obviously, the food, are the essence of what makes us proud to say we grew up in the Midwood area. I came by on a Sunday evening, about 6, when it looked as though they were closing shop. The door was locked but there were a handful of guys, those guys that sit outside of neighborhood shops with old leather shoes and chat about life, so I figured the place was open. I peer inside and inquire as to the status of the shop and they told me to knock. Lo and behold, Moti showed up and let me in. I told him I had never been and would like any sandwich he would recommend. Being a bit late, he could not make me the well known Mefuneket (which I heard from outside sources is the hebrew phonetic translation to English for 'Spoiled' HA! what an awesome name) but that he's got his wife's delicious egg salad and tuna salad. I told him I couldn't decide and he mentioned that was not a problem, he would make me half and half. I absolutely loved Moti's interaction with me, as a customer and as a friend. He asked me about what vegetables I wanted, if I wanted onions, do I like olives? The process of sandwich making and client interaction was an art as I waited and observed the newspaper clipping around of his little shop, which he has been at for over twenty years. I sat down and had the egg salad first, with his special spicy sauce, a great amount of veggies, and the delicious fresh bread and was immediately transported to a better place. I would recommend the egg salad over the tuna salad, not because I didn't like the tuna salad, but because the egg salad was that good. read more

I can't tell you how many times I have walked passed this place and never gave it a second thought. For some reason I have always mentally noted the yellow bench outside and the carrots on a banner with some hebrew writing. I always think carrot cake and then wonder if that what it reads. Today a coworker of mine asked me if I was interested in placing an order here with them, apparently he's a regular. I thought, sure why not the sandwich he's explaining sounds interesting, different and tasty.The foodie in me was intrigued. Turns out the sandwich was a Mefuneket and it was *amazing*!! All the flavors combine so well. My taste buds couldn't be happier. As I was eating and thinking about how delicious it was I couldn't place what it reminded me of and why it felt so familiar. Later I realized its because it reminded me of when I was in Israel on Birthright. Thank you for the tastyness and bringing back some fond memories. *CASH ONLY* We were on the way to the dog beach and wanted something quick to eat. I have to admit, the category "Deli/Mediterranean" was a bit misleading. It was more of a Jewish deli, from my understanding. Regardless, it was a great experience and we were glad we came! The place is small and the owner does everything so be prepared to wait (~20-30 minutes to get your food). It wasn't the quick grab and go we were looking for but again, it was worth stopping by! We both ordered the Mehfuneket. It was an unusual combination of ingredients (ketchup, eggs, sweet peppers, cream cheese) on a sesame bread. It was surprisingly very good and filling! I decided to try this place out for the first time after living in the area for more than 10 years! This is thanks to my close friend. As he ordered his sandwhich , I decided to do the same and try out their tuna sandwhich. The guy was pretty friendly and made my sandwhich pretty fast. It was pretty big. I couldn't even finish it toward the end. I took the rest home. The tuna sandwich, however, was fresh and I fell in love with the fresh tuna scent. This place is ideal for a quick brunch before work :) Defiantly better than the tuna sandwhich I usually get at Dunkin donuts. Walked in to Think Sweet while on a break at work. Moti was very warm and welcoming. I decided to go with everyone's suggestion, the mefuneket! The mefuneket was made with some great, fresh ingredients. It contained fresh veggies, cream cheese, spicy sauce, hot pepper, olives and eggs omelette style. It is served on a sesame hero. Yum! After reading the yelp reviews of the manifuckit I decided to give it a shot. $8, sandwich was smaller, only slightly than subway. The ingredients are mostly pickled peppers, olives, a cheese or two, cucumbers and eggs. I was not the least bit Impressed. Granted, the Jewish kids constantly ordering one made me feel like I was out of the loop, and thought it would be some stellar sandwich when I tried it-but it simply wasn't for me. Am waiting there for over 30 minutes for 2 sandwiches and when they were about to be ready I find out the are reusing the paper plates to put my egg in it. The plate had alot of crumbs and tomatoe seeds and probably spit as well and when I confronted the wife she tells me it's from the egg. This is a truly a hidden gem. I'm not exactly sure of everything that goes into the Mefuneket sandwich, but it is delicious and only costs $8. A comparable sandwich elsewhere would run $12-$15. The environment is friendly to all. The wait can sometimes be long, but that's a testament to the quality of the food here. The secret ingredient is surely "soul".
