Came here due to decent rating on Yelp. The wait staff were attentive. We had the lentil soup (solid) and the lamb shank (gamey and tough), giving it three stars.

This restaurant is one of the best in Mediterranean Restaurants New York City and Brooklyn; the service is amazing, and the staff are always so sweet and accommodating. Last night we celebrated my big sister's 50th birthday with a dinner. She had Bronzino with rice and a salad. I ordered the fillet snapper, which was amazing, and it came with a salad and mashed potatoes. Mom ordered chicken kebabs, and Mom's friend ordered lamb. Everything was fantastic. If you're ever in New York City, you have to check them out they've been around forever and are truly amazing. I could literally eat here every day. Sidebar the Hummus is delicious!

I stopped by this place recently for dinner. I ordered an entree for takeout. I love Mediterranean and Turkish food. I ordered the Chicken Adana kebab with rice and salad. They let me wait inside the restaurant while my order was made. The staff were friendly and helpful. The good was delicious. It was a little pricey but still good. I wouldn't mind dining here next time to try other dishes. The ambiance is cozy and nice.

We had a truly fantastic dinner at Deniz. It was quite empty when we got there but by the time we left, it was super busy. The food was amazing. The lamb in many different iterations was mouth watering. The dips and sauces were delicious. The wine was a good choice. We hung out for a long time but we did not feel rushed. It was a lovely evening and we will return again.

Popped in for a quick snack and glass of wine. Hummus was great! Staff were on top of things and very kindly charged my dying phone. The wine wasn't the best, but it was $12 a glass so not too much damage done. Would go back and try some more dishes for sure.

Before attending a concert at the Barclays Center, I stopped in ____ randomly. It was such a great find and the food was so tasty and flavorful. We ordered the burger and chick shish as our entrees and neither disappointed. I was a little worried about portion, but they were pretty good sized. Our server was also very attentive and kept the cocktails flowing! The inside has a very cute decor style, while they also have a heated patio outside presumably for busier days. Highly recommend if you're in Brooklyn and/or going to an event down that way.

Great spot and I'll definitely look forward to returning for dinner. I went for brunch and they have a great outdoor dining set up for those of us that are still nervous nellies about covid. It's heated and pretty sheltered from the elements but you can open the windows which is great given so many outdoor dining set ups aren't actually outdoor. For brunch, I ordered the Cilbir which is poached eggs in a garlicky yogurt sauce. I thought they were very tasty, and the bread they give you to dip into the eggs is fabulous. For dessert, I got the Kazandibi which was frankly the best part of the meal. It tasted like a very thick flan kind of. My friends said they liked it better than flan, which, to me as a Mexican, is sacrilege, but regardless, it was quite good. Service was friendly and prompt, and the decor inside is lovely.

Review based on the items ordered. Lentil soup was just the right consistency but lacked something in the flavor. Much better after salt and pepper. Fried tilapia was covered in mushroom sauce and was just ok. The fish was a little bland. The mashed potatoes were fantastic. The lamb chops were very, very good! Cooked to the temperature requested. Flavorful. The side rice was really great too. Couldn't figure out what they put in it, maybe coconut milk? But excellent. The side salad also fantastic. A little pricey but a great local place with good service.

    Lychee Martini

For my first time here, it was a very nice, calm atmosphere. Sergen was my bartender, very very friendly. I had three Lychee Martinis; I loved the drinks! It's a very, very nice atmosphere! I highly recommend this place!

My roommate always orders from this Mediterranean spot in downtown Brooklyn, so I had tried the chicken gyro, lavash bread, and baklava prior to getting a full meal from them. I found the chicken gyro to be tender, incredibly juicy and bursting with flavor. The bread was light, fluffy, and tasty. I enjoyed the baklava as well, which was delightfully sticky sweet with plenty of nuts. I decided on Mixed Grill so that I could sample a little of everything. The Mixed Grill came with lamb gyro, chicken shish kebab, beef and adana kebab, along with rice and mixed green salad. For dessert, I went for the Kunefe. Every single food item was absolutely delicious! The lamb gyro was wonderfully well seasoned with yummy spices. The chicken shish kebab was mouthwatering morsels. The beef and adana kebab were melt in your mouth succulent. All of the meat was perfectly cooked and quite flavorful. The rice was decent, and the green salad had a bit of crunchy onion and tomato in it. The vinaigrette the salad came with was pretty good. As for the dessert, I loved it even more than baklava and that's saying a lot! Kunefe consists of shredded filo pastry, soaked in sugar-based syrup, layered with cheese, with walnuts on top. The Kunefe had a satisfying amount of pull, and the cheese paired so well with the shredded filo, which had a nice crispiness to it. There was a slight savory taste, but overall, the dessert was delicately sweet. Next time, I would love to try the Salmon Scallopini, then the Lamp Chops.

Great service, relaxing atmosphere, and solid, quality food. One star off for not having compostable takeaway containers at that price point ($19 lunch special) & charging a percentage for credit card use, no matter what amount.

I went back for a weekday lunch recently and the food and atmosphere both hold up fabulously, so it makes sense why they've remained a brunch mainstay at both their East Village and Williamsburg locations. I enjoy that they serve their hot moroccan tea in a glass as is traditional, so you can see all the fresh mint leaves in your cup. I had tea like this multiple times a day during my trip to Morocco a few years back so sipping on this here took me back in time. I ordered a short stack of their blueberry pancakes which were very fluffy and delicious. They're not the kind of pancake with crispy edges, which are my preferred kind of pancake but I still found them satisfying. The moroccan eggs, which are two poached eggs in spicy stewed tomatoes and served with zahar pita is a delight. The pita is very fluffy and the zahatar adds such a nice fragrant spice to the bread. They used to serve this with potatoes but now those come at an additional charge but are well worth getting. The Williamsburg location also has pretty good wifi and they let me work on my laptop through my brief stay there. Kitchen was speedy too.

The Chocolate Babka dessert is a great way to end your meal, and they do make a solid espresso martini for those wondering. The best food here is definitely going to be the local specialty and I was correct! We came as a group of 6- made this reservation a month in advance. They were super patient with us and took our orders pretty quick. The wine selection is magnificent I had such a great orange wine and tried their refreshing rose secco and they paired really well with the seafood. We ordered the tilefish ceviche, the famous sourdough, maitake and yellow oyster mushrooms and grilled corn to start. They each came on their own pace so it was 1 by 1. We got to focus on each dish and share it. It felt like tapas style! Amongst these starters I definitely really loved the ceviche athough my friends felt like it was lackluster. The oyster mushrooms and corn was interesting but not as amazing as the sourdough. We ordered two dishes for this and I felt like it wasn't enough. The ricotta is just so creamy and definitely left me wanting more. For secondary we ordered mackerel toast and the shrimp! These were definitely one of the most memorable and the mackerel was raw which was so fun and interesting play on texture with the cream cheese toast. Definitely something I would like to eat often for breakfast as it's similar to lox but not smokey and just super fresh and neutral. The shrimp was absolute star of the show. I don't have much notes on that other than it was spectacular. The way they grilled it or cooked it was just love! For the mains we shared the half chicken and the tilefish local specialty dish! I think the chicken you can skip but I definitely think the fish was one of the best fish I've eaten recently! I love the tomatoes and way they flavored it. For dessert I know my friend said the chocolate cake was the best but I digress I actually think there's better out there. Instead we also ordered their recommended lemon possett and this one was actually super worth it. I'd recommend this for sure! It's so tart but not too tart and light and airy it's definitely more my vibe. Our total was pretty crazy for a six person group I ended up paying around $80 pp for these dishes. I had a fun time having dinner with friends but we were also rushed out after we finished and it was time to give other people their spots. It definitely feels like you're only going there to eat and not to stay for a long dinner and chat.

The heirloom tomatoes were a standout dish: fresh, packed tons of flavor, and I loved how everything went together. The waiter mentioned they're seasonal and will be swapped out for something for the fall season soon. Dips and potatoes were excellent. Octopus was the one weaker spot. The skewer was a bit small and the preparation left the meat a little lackluster and chewy (I'm picky with my octopus!) The lamb chops were very tender with tons of flavor - char, mint, meat. A bit heavy but might just be because I don't eat a ton of red meat. I was VERY full by the end of the meal! I think we could have done 1-2 fewer dishes and still been very satisfied, but I'm glad I got to try so many things. The mains took a while to come out, though I enjoyed the longer, non-rushed, 'let's chat over delicious bites for hours' feeling of the meal overall. Great dining experience. The bill came to about ~$100 per person for the above + a drink (one wine, one mocktail) each. Between the fantastic ambiance, service, and high quality flavors, I found it to be worth the price and great for a treat yourself outing, date, or special occasion.

We each ordered our main, after which they bring out an enormous tray of all these lovely nibble salads, pickles, dips, and pita. I don't eat wheat, and haven't my entire life, so I usually don't say anything about it if it seems to me the place doesn't cater to that sort of restriction. The server noticed however, and offered sliced cucumbers for the dips. Such a lovely detail, brava. Did I mention how deeeeeeeelicious everything was? Hubby had the steak shishlika which was perfectly tender and charred at once. I had the chicken shishlika which was good, but not the wow of the steak. Each and every salad, dip, pickle etc was perfectly spiced, cooked, presented. The nuances were just right. Nothing too precious or sideways. Just honest, well built yummy food. And the fries. You MUST get the fries. We ordered the tahini ranch along with the tahini catsup. In my opinion, that wasn't necessary. But if you're a ranch lover, go for it. Then the dessert! Soft serve with a cherry reduction and some kind of flourless chocolate brownie... I don't need to say more. The service was excellent. The food delicious. This was very good, and we tackled it with zest, devouring it with the accompanying pita bread. We also ordered the falafel, chicken shawarma platter and beef kebab platter. The chicken shawarma was decent, but I would have loved more chicken and bigger pieces. There was considerably more rice than chicken, which made the platter feel a little unbalanced. The beef kebab was better, with a good portion of meat and rice, and the accompanying vegetables weren't too bad either. One disappointment for me was the lack of a proper hot sauce. Something with a little heat and flavor would have paired really well with both the shawarma and kebab and, for me, would have elevated the meal. Overall, the food was good and the ambiance was pleasant. Service was also good for the most part, although I was disappointed that we weren't asked if we were interested in dessert before wrapping up the meal. Al Badawi is probably a place I would try again, but not one I'm in a rush to return to anytime soon.
