Mini tartelettes crab and caviar
Mila F.

We went for "le brunch" on a Sunday and it was so fun! First of all, I love the ambience. It feels like you're in a Funhouse, but a classy one. There was a singer, a magician doing tricks for the table, saxophones ! There was really a fun, vibrant energy to it. Very beautifully decorated and hosts and waiters were extremely attentive. We had the bottomless mimosas. The waiter made sure to keep topping our glasses up as they did not leave the champagne bottle with you, but they did leave the juices. I appreciated it as it left more room on the table. I'm a Crudo girl. The Hamachi Crudo was delicious. The linguine and tartelettes were okay. Would probably opt to try something else next time. Overall, a delightful experience and would definitely return.

I treated my friend to brunch after seeing all the hype on TikTok, Yelp, and Instagram, and it absolutely lived up to it! This was easily one of the most entertaining brunches I've experienced in the DMV, while still maintaining an upscale vibe. From the singer taking special requests during brunch to the live entertainment afterward, drummers, dancers, and a saxophonist turning things into a full brunch party...we were thoroughly entertained from start to finish. What really stood out, though, was that the food matched the energy. At some places, you get great entertainment but mediocre food - not here. Everything was beautifully presented, served at the perfect temperature, and genuinely delicious. My friend was so impressed with her birthday celebration that she thanked me for days afterward. The service was impeccable, the space is stunning with plenty of Instagram-worthy moments, and despite how busy it was, it somehow still felt warm and welcoming. If you're in the mood to get dressed up, enjoy an upscale brunch, celebrate a special occasion, or impress someone on a date, this is definitely the place. I'm already looking forward to my next brunch party here!

tl;dr - Really good service, but the wait time for food was long. We arrived around 6 PM and left 2.5 hours later. The ambiance was nice, and my friend and I enjoyed our time yapping and eating. ESCARGOTS "CROQUE MONSIEUR" - 22 The escargot was incredibly garlicky and filled with fresh parsley, and it was tender and sweet. Our server gave us complimentary bread service to enjoy the leftover butter which was delicious. ONION SOUP GRATINÉE - 18 The best French onion soup I've ever had. There was a thick layer of melted gruyére cheese that draped over a bowl of miso-based vegetable broth mixed with a generous amount of soft, caramelized onion. The soup was rich and flavorful, and I even peeled most of the cheese off the bowl because it was that good. My friend and I both enjoyed this greatly. STEAK TARTARE - 26 Our server really hyped up the steak tartare saying it was one of the best he's eaten, but we thought it was overly salty. My friend thought it was a bit sour. We also didn't love how heavy it was since it was topped with cubed fries. LA PAELLA DE CASSOULET - 58 By the time we got to the paella, we were already really full. The portion size looked really big since it was wide, but it was actually less than half an inch deep. The rice was delicious, filled with flavors of duck fat, seasoning, sausage, and pork belly. However, it was a bit too rich and thick after a few bites, and we got tired. A bit too heavy overall, but we would definitely recommend the escargot and French onion soup. Maybe we'll get the cured hamachi crudo next time since it's a much lighter option.

OK, first I want to shout out Mike N. He was such a professional and thoughtful server. Next, I want to shout out an amazing dish. I think it was called Lamb Two Ways. If you're at all open to eating lamb, you must have this. It's hard to describe the bottom part was maybe like a braised lamb inside a very thin and delicate pastry crust. It was not like any kind of lamb pie that you've ever had before. It was so delicious and rich, it could be a dessert. Not really, but it's so awesome. And then it had lamb slices on top of it, which were so tasty as well. We really liked all the dishes that we tried here, especially the appetizers. The room is incredibly stylish and very close to a Metro , so convenient. I'm looking forward to going back for the brunch, which I understand is a very fun time.

The good: turns into a night club vibe at 2pm for those that like that kind of thing. It was definitely giving French riveria vibes with the live music, dancers and spinning napkins everywhere. The bad: the FOOD! Tried about 3-4 dishes as I was with a party of 12. Hated everything. Could barely swallow the burger it was so bad! How do you mess up a burger??! Will definitely return if I eat a proper meal somewhere else first and then come just for the entertainment! Entertainment was 10/10!

As they say in French "Magnifique!!!!" For my birthday celebration, my boyfriend surprised me with a lovely dinner at Barbouzard. This gem is a triple threat for quality wait staff, unique drinks, and exotic food/desserts. I would even go the extra mile and say that their decor is top as it offers a sexy ambiance with its beautiful modern French/Mediterranean decor-STUNNING! To the wait staff, thank you so much for making my birthday magical. Our waiter, Mario, was AMAZING! He was very knowledgeable with parings, and recommending the best of the best! But what left us more shocked is that he was excellent at analyzing our taste to anticipate our selections and boy was he on point for each guess lol it made dining exciting. To start, we ordered a shot of Ocho tequila reposado which can only be described as smooth and easy to enjoy! Next, my boyfriend ordered the smoked old fashioned and I ordered the Nina Rose, both of which were phenomenal in taste. We ordered 2 starters: Mini Tartelettes, Crab & Caviar- this appetizer was spectacular! The caviar added a perfect balance of savoriness to the crab and the flaky pastry folded the dish together for an immediate trip down flavor town. From there we ordered the Escargots And Garlic Butter and that in itself was scrumptious! The garlic butter gave the escargot big personality and we probably could have ended the night there but we kept going lol For entrees we ordered: Lobster à l'Américaine- a moment of silence as we acknowledge the beauty behind this dish. Not only was it savory but I appreciated how well each ingredient supported each other, with no one flavor overpowering the next. There was a generous serving of lobster added and the dish was large enough to take leftovers. I absolutely loved this pasta! My boyfriend ordered the Loup de Mer au Fenouil and he loved how flaky and delightful the fish was from start to finish. He also raved about how perfectly seasoned it was and that he thoroughly enjoyed the meal. He did order a side of spinach which was lightly sautéed and buttery. To end the evening, I received a complimentary birthday chocolate presented by Mario and another staff member-how beautiful was that?! The chocolate of course was to die for. We also decided to order their Piémontaise Hazelnut Souflé and honey, let's just say that hazelnut never shined so bright. Supported by a delightful Tahitian vanilla créme anglaise, this dessert was delectable and comforting. We're already planning to support their brunch soon and return for dinner. This place was worth it!!!!! 10/10

Wow this place is so good! Even the complimentary bread they give is great. I like how you also get vinegar and pepper flakes to go along with the olive oil. I really enjoyed the steak tartare and how it came with crispy potatoes on top making it unique. The star of the show was the paella! I love how there were so many different meats and the rice was my favorite. I do wish that it came with a little more rice. For dessert, we got the recommendation which was the Venetian Surprise. The crunchy outside paired really well with the raspberry sorbet inside. Our server was very kind and attentive. There is plenty of seating inside and the bathrooms are nice!

Great spot! They have a huge variety of delicious wines and French food. Came in for dinner and got some appetizers and small plates. Highlights were the escargot and the fried bread appetizer, along with the steak tartare. I hear it's really a good brunch spot so would love to check it out. The service was very accommodating and they paid a lot of attention to our table, even when they were busy. The bartenders are also very knowledgeable and were helpful picking drinks and making us something special.

From the moment we walked in, the service was warm, attentive, and genuinely welcoming. The food was absolutely exceptional! Every dish was bursting with rich, authentic flavor and made with incredible attention to detail. The presentation was just as impressive as the taste, beautifully plated and thoughtfully crafted, making the entire experience feel elevated and special. The staff ensured our experience was seamless from start to finish. Barbouzard is a true gem that delivers excellence in flavor, aesthetics, and hospitality. Highly recommend for any event or occasion! Can't wait to go back!

Barbouzard offers a delightful fusion of French and Mediterranean cuisine. Upon entering, the bright and spacious decor immediately draws you in, creating a comfortable atmosphere perfect for relaxation. The restaurant features two private rooms ideal for special occasions, along with a large bar that enhances the vibrant ambiance. The attentive and friendly service makes you feel right at home from the very beginning. We kicked off our festivities with a smooth shot of Ocho Reposado Tequila, perfectly setting a celebratory tone. The cocktail menu dazzled, showcasing selections like the classic Old Fashioned and the refreshing Nina Rosé, both of which were absolutely delicious. The impeccable service ensured a seamless experience from start to finish. Must-Try Dishes: -Escargot -Lobster à la AmericanoDecadent -Loop de Mer A seafood lover's dream. -Piemontaise Hazelnut Soufflé with Tahitian Vanilla Cream We will definitely be back for brunch!

So first off the food is great, and my rating is taking off for the ambiance of the restaurant. I wish I had known this is mostly a nightclub feel not a fine dining experience. Loved everything we had. Scallops were top notch though the sauce I think would do better with different flavors. I think the biggest thing people should know coming here is this is an absolute night club / housewives of fill in the blank city vibe. Not at all what I am looking for. Me and my partner both agreed that while the food was very good we will never be back. BUT if you're looking to party to loud music and people dressed like they are in a reality show with great food .... You have found your new spot.

Bread service! High quality butter and olive oil with piment espelette and salt. But the butter and bread was my favourite!

It's been a while where I can say service is close to impeccable, but it is here. The service in the dining room is a 10, at the bar, a 9.5. I just found the service in the dining room as a bit more personable, but I'm biased since I knew a waiter from a previous restaurant. They do a great job of cleaning between courses and making sure you're topped off, etc. Shout out to Joseph (the assistant manager and sommelier), and Eli and Carlos, the lovely waiters! For Joseph, he created one of the most beautiful, bountiful wine lists ever. He took a wine course (which I'm also taking!), and he used that knowledge to input the wine list on iPads, making it easier for those that don't know wine to find something just for them. He divides it by wine type and country of origin, and even region within a country. So cool! For the food, the only thing I'd say is that they need to cut the salt by 10-15% for the beef items. I noticed that the beef was overall salty, and I had two beef plates: tartare and a hanger steak. The cook and the look was perfect, and I've had both items time and again, so the salt was a tad overpowering for me. The cook (or lack thereof for the tartare) was perfect for the steak. I'm going to try the daube, or the beef stew next. If that's a tad too salty, then I'd have to conclude that the beef dishes in general are a tad too much. Because the foie gras opera was one of the most innovative ways to eat foie gras and the balance between salt, fat, and sweet was impeccable. Perfectly balanced, even the port jelly and the preserved cherry. Everything supported that rich foie gras to perfection! I highly recommend the foie gras opera and the gran marnier soufflé dessert. The bottle of grand cru Klepka Sausse champagne had beautiful notes of ripe fruit like apples and notes honey. Lovely and safe! The raw seafood was fresh and the gougère appetiser was interesting but not my cup of tea. However, if you want something light, those are the ones to go for along with a glass of Chablis.

It does have a grand entrance and a beautiful chandelier in the center. The magic stops there. Drinks start @$20'which is usual for DC and larger cities. The main seating area is above on the second level and the view is nice. The area we sat in was VERY dark.. the lighting was almost non existent. The menu sounded nice. For my appetizer I ordered Grilled octopus, which I've had here and abroad and love a good grilled octopus dish. When my dish arrived the first thing I noticed in the dark was that it was a lot of baby potatoes and tomatoes, I had to turn my flashlight on to see the dish and realize there were literally only slivers of octopus, drowned in potatoes and tomatoes, which, if the appetizer was billed this way would have been fine, but I was totally shocked and it was $30!! High coffered ceilings, rich wall coverings, art nouveau posters, Accessibility may be a little confusing -- there is a long set of stairs at the entrance, but there is an elevator outside and through a neighboring door. There are other elevators to take guests up to the mezzanine level. Food was flavorful and well portioned. While I may have had a better entree somewhere else, we had amazing service (granted we were some of the first ones there for lunch service) and when my dining companion didn't like her cocktail it was whisked away and replaced with something she'd enjoy better. The prix fixe menu made our lunch very financially approachable and I think this would be an amazing spot to bring your out of town family and friends. I also think it's worth mentioning the gorgeous gender inclusive bathroom -- one large bathroom enclosing many stalls each with substantial full length wooden doors, and communal sinks and mirrors. Maybe not a spot for neighborhood regulars, but a nice destination for a fun evening out for a date or out of the way dinner.

For an entree, the Trout à la Grenobloise ($33) was great. It came with mashed potatoes, green beans, almonds, and caper-lemon-brown butter sauce. It was a really nicely cooked piece of fish. The food is incredible. everything was cooked to perfection for the whole group and the flavors are excellent. But, there was no pepper on our table. Just salt. weird. There was a medley of little things that just were not ideal for what you're paying. This was one of them. As is the noise, which makes it nearly impossible to hear wait-staff because it gets so loud. FYI: Servers will just vanish from your table (very European) to check about any question you have. Because they get so busy, service can be a bit slow. Even with the European leisurely pace in mind (there was a table near us who sat down right before us at 7:30 and they didn't get their mains/entrees, which seemed like all they got, until 8:20pm). It felt like we waited a smidge too long for our mains, even with our party of five. The silverware choices are interesting, I felt like I was going to permanently bend my fork while putting pressure on it while cutting my steak and the knife itself (with an interestingly colored handle) seemed like it needed to be sharpened. Our main server also didn't seem to know the mocktails on the menu and had to go ask what the "Havana Spritz" one was. FYI, it's a canned mocktail from a local company. Even if it's new in/ new to the menu, it's a bit of a flag when the server doesn't know what a drink is. Maybe he'd forgotten, but still. I'd look at what it is, or ask about it, and note that down, you can tell guests. We were a group of five shoehorned into a table clearly meant for 4 people maximum and there's too many tables packed together inside Bistro Du Coin. I do not know why we weren't just at a larger table near the back. Overall, a delicious meal with good ambiance that.

The problem with Lutèce is that they don't give a single crap about their customer's experience. We booked a 6 PM table. My friend and I arrived at 5:55, and were seated by 6. The waiter IMMEDIATELY told us we had the table for 2 hours and then had to leave. He then got us water and eventually (10 min in) took our drink orders. He then told us again that we had the table for only 2 hours. Our other friend was 15 minutes late. She arrived, and we looked at the menus. One was the regular menu, and one was a five course tasting. We discussed for ~5 minutes, and then told the waiter we all wanted the tasting menu. His response: "Sorry, it's too late for that now. The kitchen can't do it in the amount of time you have remaining." This for a $125 menu with an $80 wine pairing. We ended up ordering far less food, which was unceremoniously dumped on our table with no regard for coursing in an obvious attempt to hurry us along, and several times wait staff attempted to pick up plates that were clearly still full of food while we were clearly still eating. By the time we received the dessert menu we felt scared to order it, and completely unwelcome. And of course, you guessed it: they automatically add a 20 percent service charge so there's no market correction to their piss-poor service. The attitude at this restaurant is everything wrong with fine dining in general in this day and age, and in DC in particular: You should be so lucky to dine here, you lickspittles. Eat up and get out. Thanks, but no. Never again. You'll find me at the bar at Chloe where they take the time to know your name and never make you feel unwelcome.
