Woah, it's been a while since I've been out for brunch because brunch foods are kind of bland to me - but Bar West really nailed it with their food and cocktails. We got the Benedicts - one with ham and one with halloumi. Both were great and I just loved the colorful greens salad on the side. The tart dressing paired so well with the rich bechamel sauce and yolky eggs. For drinks, we got one of the espresso martini month specials - the tiramisutini. It was a more unique take on the espresso martini and I loved the slightly tangy mascarpone cream on top. It's definitely in my top 3 of the month. We also tried their delicious west coffee cocktail, served hot with some delicious oat whipped cream. Service was great and friendly. It was pretty busy the entire time we were here on a Sunday. We had reservations which may or may not have been needed but it seemed like a good idea. The bar is very cute. Overall I would definitely come back for another brunch or in the evening for drinks and dinner/snack!
Great happy hour. Attentive service. Cozy and elegant atmosphere. The food was crispy, hot, and fresh. The chicken sandwich had the most delectable, buttery, and crisp bun. The fries were seasoned to perfection. The garlic aioli was the perfect complement for both the fries and sandwich. The daily cocktail (rotating) was their take on the Shamrock Shake. Not half bad for a sweet alcoholic drinker like me, but I would have liked it even sweeter. My only complaint is that there was a chunk of leftover food on the table when we sat down. Other than that the service was terrific, the food tasty, and my tummy satisfied.

Love how cozy the interior is and though the covered, heated patio is nice, I'm definitely a sucker for indoor seating on the cold, rainy days. I do recommend making a resy in advance if you can! We went around noon on a Sunday and I was actually surprised at how much was already sold out. I'd wanted the shakshuka but it was gone and my friend was also warned that the sandwich she ordered may not have sausage/would be replace with bacon. She was fine with that and I instead grabbed the avo toast and potatoes. We also had to get the timberline fog which was the coziest drink with earl grey, oat milk, vanilla-lavender, and oat whip on top. This drink was a 5/5 for me and I'm dying to go back for it! Food wise, the avocado toast was good, definitely on some chunky bread. The potatoes were deeeelicious and whatever hot sauce they carry in house is also a fave. Service was friendly, attentive without being too involved. Prices are fair for the quality so add this to your portland rotation! I definitely need to swing back to try dinner~
My girlfriend has been wanting to take me here forever so we finally had a chance to go and it definitely did not disappoint! When we arrived we were initially going to sit outside but the hostess knew my girlfriend didn't want to be cold and let us know it is super cold so she was able to find us a spot inside which was really nice! The food and drinks were super delicious! I had the Benedict and man oh man did it hit the spot. Overall the brunch was quite incredible but definitely want to come back and give the dinner menu a chance.

Very cute spot in Portland that we dropped by for Brunch. Did some shopping afterwards as lots of shops were nearby / within walking distance. Thought Bar West was a gem! Staff was friendly and very cool environment. Food was fantastic. We had the chorizo hash, proper breakfast and the kids had the almond butter milk pancakes. We ate everything and left nothing behind haha. Would definitely come back and highly recommend. Not a place you want to go to if you're rushed. Come relax and ready to eat / catch up with family and friends. Very cool spot.

Oooooh how I loved this place! We made a reservation online, but arrived about an hour earlier with our fingers crossed, hoping they could accommodate us. The staff was kind enough to clear off a table for us & get us situated in just about 10 minutes. We felt like we had scored big time, especially since it was a Friday night. We ordered a variety of drinks & snacks to share, but the real stand out of the night was the Calabrian Chicken ($16). It was listed under the "smaller" section & explained as such: gf buttermilk fried chicken, chili, celery, scallion. I went for it. It was *spectacular* - My mouth is watering now just reminiscing over it. Tender chicken thighs with a well balanced seasoning medley & the perfect amount of crunch. The smattering of green added visual & gustatory appeal. I still can't believe it was GLUTEN-FREE! I would go back just for this chicken dish, I swear. I also have to mention that it was just gorgeous inside. We sat outside on the patio, but while we were waiting for our table I had the chance to really appreciate how the interior was designed. Inspirational for my own personal home.
Bar West: Solid Brunch Spot with Friendly Vibe Tried Bar West for brunch and had a good experience. The menu for brunch is pretty limited with maybe ten dishes, so not a ton to choose from, but what we ordered was tasty. The service were good as well. I chose the fried chicken and egg Benedict. The fried chicken was crisp and full of flavor, and the spicy sauce really made it stand out. The egg Benedict was just okay for me since the egg was fully cooked instead of having that slightly runny yolk I look for. It came with a simple salad on the side. The atmosphere here is relaxed and welcoming. It is a nice spot to hang out with friends over the weekend. If you are looking for a laid-back place for brunch with some solid fried chicken, Bar West is worth a visit. If you are picky about classic eggs Benedict, just know it might not be textbook. Tip: Go for the fried chicken, and expect a small menu.
Cute brunch spot ~ outdoor seating is recommended if very loud indoor is not your brunch jam. Service is below par ~ humdrum personality from the server, had to request for utensils after the entrees arrived, long wait on drinks almost arrived with food. No follow-up and silent drop off bill. Bloody Mary house made mix was so-so and glass was filled with ice. Honestly, the service was really disappointing for what you pay for.

For dinner: reservations for sure especially on a weekend but later in the evening we never have an issue getting a walk-in nightcap. Cocktails are very well crafted, wine list is great as well. The French fries are always a go to, and splitting one of the pizzas is recommended as they're a smidge large for one person. Interior is very cute and aesthetic, there is a back area inside for larger groups that's a little more plain. Exterior patio is covered with twinkly lights and they usually have heaters on chilly nights.
I've driven by Bar West and was curious with all the crowds I would see. Finally came to check it out for brunch and got lucky with seating without a reservation. The indoor space is aesthetically pleasing and seems like they have a large back room for larger groups. Opted for the patio this time around and I enjoyed that they also have a free parking lot. As for food, I always like to try a sweet and savory option. I ended up ordering the chickpea fritters with hot honey, buttermilk pancakes, and chicken sandwich. For the apps with the chickpea fritters I really enjoyed the flavors with the hot honey but they actually weren't super crispy which was I was expecting. I would still get it again and if I take it home pop it in the airfryer. The pancakes were fluffy and I love a good crisp on the outside. The fruit compote pairs well to break the texture. The chicken sandwich was also a great option that was the right amount of crisp/toast. Can't forget the fries as they are also a clear winner - love me some thin cut fries! I enjoyed brunch so need to make it out to try their dinner menu.

Bar West feels like a slice of California tucked into Portland. The atmosphere is effortlessly cool, the location is in the Pearl, and the food was amazing! We stopped in after work for dinner, and it ended up being the perfect place to unwind with the girls. It was packed on a Friday night, staff was super friendly and got us seated quickly at the bar area. Looking around, a lot of people were here on a date - which I can see why, this would be such a cute spot for a date too! One of the cutest underrated restaurants in PDX. read more
What a lovely spot for brunch! My partner and I stopped in here while walking up and down 23rd and 21st. The interior is attractive and very modern, and there is a large covered and heated patio if you prefer to sit outside (we did). The service was a little bit slow, but not egregious and the server was very friendly. The menu is not extensive, but it has good variety and everything on it looked excellent. All of their ingredients seem high-quality, and they have a number of gluten-free and vegetarian offerings. I ended up getting the eggs benedict, which came with a little salad. The salad was fresh, not wilted, and came with a light vinaigrette. The eggs benedict was absolutely stellar-- perfectly poached eggs, creamy hollandaise, and grilled halloumi to give some well-received brine to the bite, all atop an english muffin. For the price point and the quality, the portions are good. My one wish was that I could have subbed my salad for some of their potatoes! My partner got the pork belly hash, and thought that the potatoes were cooked perfectly-- crispy and well-seasoned. He did notice that there were only a few pieces of pork in the dish, but we chalked this up to the ingredient quality. We ended up staying for Happy Hour, which was fun! We got the fries with garlic aioli (so good!) and I ordered their daily cocktail special, a margarita. They gave me a good, heavy, pour, which is always appreciated. Wonderful brunch! Great location in a quiet neighborhood, delicious food (we had eggs Benedict and the buttermilk chicken salad) and a very tasty Bloody Mary! The chicken in the salad was very light and not overly breaded which made it extra good. Service was great. We'll be back! read more

Ever since Covid ,everytime I used to go for my daily walks and see the beautiful patio I would always think I need to come here, well it only took 4 years ! Warm ,chic and inviting is how I would describe the vibe . The indoor space is beautifully done up but the patio has my heart. I asked our server if she could accommodate us there and she happily did. The cocktails were creative , there is a good wine selection as well . I started with Coryphantha and my Mezcal loving hubby got the Summer Solstice ,both very refreshing and summery drinks. For our second round we got an old fashioned and an Aperol fizz. The food is as bit as good as the drinks. We got the Arabiatta and Focaccia , fennel sausage and artichoke pizza and the chickpea fritters . The pizza definitely was the highlight - thin crust with excellent toppings and not too cheesy . Service was excellent and made the experience top notch . read more

Stumbled upon this place when a group of us were just walking by. So happy we were able to walk-in and grab a seat for cocktails and light bites. Nestled on a corner, Bar West offers an aesthetic atmosphere with craft cocktails and good food! The outside patio is so cute, covered with a lot of greenery, highly recommend grabbing a seat there if possible. We ordered their Crispy Cauliflower and Herbed Fries & Aioli - so delicious! Best crispy cauliflower I've ever had - perfect crisp paired with good seasoning. For drinks we ordered their Summer Solstice cocktails and Deep Creek cocktail. Our waitress was so friendly as well. Great food and great service. The menu is pretty simple yet delicious. They also only have a one side menu. From my experience, one sided menus always have solid food. One of the best all around restaurants for Oregon local farms "cook-it-up-fresh-chef" cuisine with French & Italian presentations, unique cocktails, diverse wine list and craft brews on tap or bottle. What pushes this place high on my list is the outdoor patio rocks for those older or concerned diners still playing it safe from indoor crowds due to Covid. While indoors there's convivial dining spaces and a bar, the outdoors suits my fancy - a well constructed wood patio with cover, partial walls with covering, ends open for ventilation, overhead hot hot hot heaters, lighting accentuating the plants and tables and music beat beat beating. Dress right! It was about 40 degrees on a chilly evening but and we were so cozy. The outdoor vibe is quite "getting down!" We went for the Cascades organic burger and a wood fired pizza with some iPA's. Delish delish delish bite bite bite. We like getting out and supporting those places with quality grub, wine and brew, restaurants that feature our local precious farmers, and who put thought into dining options for those still concerned about the Covid virus. I think think this is a nice girls' date spot for an afternoon catchup! Overall refreshing drinks and different options to choose from for drinks. It almost seemed as though we came at a time that it could have been brunch or lunch and were only handed a brunch menu. I liked the warm aesthetic of the place, not being too uppity and felt very comfortable there. Easy parking. Could have happily ordered a 2nd or 3rd drink had we not had plans afterwards. Looks like a fun hangout in the evening, too. Would come back! read more

Have been to Bar West several times now and always have a great experience. The servers are always friendly and service is great, the food and drinks are delicious, and I love that they have multiple different outdoor dining options, including a covered heated patio.
