    Curry favor and little talks
    Keely N.

I've never been here during the day, but I definitely like fools and horses for the night life, because sometimes there is a DJ on the weekend! It's usually really crowded at night, but I definitely love it. The cocktails are definitely on the pricey side ($16). The curry cocktail was delicious! And, I was obsessed with the little talks! It was fruity w/ vegan salted cold foam. Perfect for the summer.

This is a lovely stop for a cocktail and small bites. The inside is loaded with charm and is nice and cozy... and when we were there for happy hour...nice and low key. The cocktails are really good! Some of the best I had in Portland! I wasn't blown away by the pub cheese.. it was a bit flavorless... but those snack size lobster rolls were delicious! The happy hour price was 3 for 35 and that was a great choice! Really glad we ended up here!

Best drinks and most outstanding food I've had in years! Great service too! I am Coming back to this place asap!

I really wanted to love Fools and Horses. The atmosphere is wonderfully dark and intimate, perfect for a special occasion. The food itself was genuinely excellent - the Black Cod was superb and the Steak Frites were cooked beautifully. Unfortunately, the service significantly undermined what should have been a memorable evening, especially as we were celebrating my wife's birthday. Our waitress made us feel like an inconvenience every time we tried to order drinks. The pacing was all over the place, with dishes arriving at completely different times rather than as a cohesive meal. We had to flag someone down just to get a second round of drinks, and throughout the entire evening, no one offered us water or brought our check without being asked. For a cocktail bar at this price point, the level of inattentiveness was disappointing. The kitchen clearly has talent, but the front-of-house experience really dampened what should have been a special birthday celebration. I hope this was an off night, because the food quality suggests this place has potential - they just need to get the service up to the same standard.

Such a relaxing spot! It's very dark and moody inside with nice leather booths and couches. The drinks were moderately priced for the area and the option of oysters for happy hour is a great plus. They were great quality, small and flavorful, and came with a pickled garlic vinaigrette. The service was attentive and checked up on us regularly and were quick with drinks. I definitely recommend this for a calm night.

Came in for some drinks and snacks after seeing a matinee show at The Armory. It was fairly empty, being only 4pm on a Sunday. There were a couple folks outside and just two other parties inside. The space is nice - great for chatting catching up with a friend or a date night. The large cocktail menu is divided up between spirit forward vs. refreshing drinks. For the first round we opted for the Cash & Curry and one of the spirit forward drinks. I honestly can't remember which we ended up going with but it was delicious though on the sweet side. The Cash & Curry was also pretty sweet but had that nice curry leaf flavor whenever you took a sip. For snacks, we got the board which came with a couple cheeses, some butter and the delicious beef jerked salami type of meet. The board was pretty, though I could have done with some more substance - more bread for the butter, for one. All in all we had a good experience here and had fun looking at the walls. The bartender was all alone when we visited so it took a while to get drinks, but they were friendly and helpful when we had questions. They also checked on us and kept our water full so that's always a plus! While it may not be number one in cocktails around the Pearl, this place was pretty good and I wouldn't mind coming back for drinks.

The overall ambiance is laid-back and chill with dim lighting. I went with seven other friends (note: there's a typical 20% service charge for bigger groups), and the bar is spacious with plenty of seating. They offer indoor seats, street-side outdoor seating, and standing bars. It's perfect for a night out with a large group of friends or a casual date. The drink menu features a wide range of cocktails, hard liquors, a good selection of beers, and mocktails. The variety of cocktails are all beautifully presented with well-chosen stamped ice cubes. Yes, ice cubes are important for good cocktails! We ordered the Crispy Rice Crudo for a light snack, and it was cute, refreshing, and tasty. The bartender and staff were knowledgeable and friendly, without being too overbearing, allowing us to enjoy our drinks and conversation without feeling rushed. Next door is another bar called Pink Rabbit, which has more neon signs, louder music, a festive and funky atmosphere, and fewer seats. Fools and Horses is more low-key, with more seating and a relatively quieter atmosphere suitable for chatting inside. Both are great bars right next to each other, so you can choose based on your mood.

Visited Fools and Horse on a rainy night post-Christmas. Bartenders were nice and knew their libations. They crafted some delectable drinks, and we enjoyed the cozy ambiance and good music. The drinks were excellent.

We made a reservation and were seated in cute corner with high top tables and beautiful wallpaper but we asked to switch to lower seats for ease of getting in and out and better view of what's happening around us. The cocktails were strong, we were feeling good after one and then we each had a glass of red wine, Adega Agueria. The ordered the off menu Board, some oysters that were adorable and easy to eat, and the Quick Bacalhau. That main was our favorite! All plates are meant to be shared. Great ambiance, attentive service, and all around great time!

I'm obsessed with the vibe of this place... the leather seats, snakeskin wallpaper, open fireplace, photo-op phone booth curated & comfortable all dressed up in black & gold The food is great, staff is nice, one of my favorite bars to go downtown!

To speak about Teardrop Lounge, I should probably start with this:…read more Ladies and gentlemen, I present my favorite cocktail bar. Not the best -- I'm not arrogant enough to claim that. I haven't been to every cocktail bar in Portland, and saying something is the best usually says more about your lack of experience than your conviction. But favorite? That I can stand behind. And I want to get that out of the way early, because of the amount of praise I'm about to pour on this place -- fully earned, completely intentional. The biggest crime here is that I only discovered it two weeks ago, after living in Portland for a year. It had been recommended to me countless times, and I ignored it. A mistake. A painful one. But now that I've found it, I don't plan on making that mistake again. I'm not typically an Old Fashioned drinker. In fact, I usually hate them. But somewhere between curiosity and too many episodes of Mad Men, I decided to try one anyway -- fully expecting to confirm my bias. Instead, it completely flipped me. Bright, almost citrus-forward in a way that felt unusual but entirely intentional. Balanced, smooth, just enough burn to remind you what you're drinking without overwhelming it. It was the first time I actually understood the appeal. I'm pretty sure I grew a few chest hairs that night. That alone would've been impressive. But it didn't stop there. The space is beautiful -- clean, intentional, but not cold. The staff are excellent: personable, engaged, and most importantly, authentic. Not scripted, not performative. The kind of people you actually want to talk to, and hopefully, eventually be on a first-name basis with. Now, all of that gets it close to a perfect score. But what pushes it over the edge -- what makes this place stick -- is the White Russian. One of the first drinks I ever had. My dad's drink. Not because of The Big Lebowski -- that came later -- but because it's just always been his thing. And at some point, it became mine too. Typically, when bars try to "elevate" a White Russian, they ruin it. They overthink it. Swap ingredients, tweak ratios, add unnecessary flair. And more often than not, it ends in disappointment. Teardrop does the opposite. They respect it -- but refine it. The coffee liqueur actually tastes like coffee. The heavy cream is properly integrated, not just dumped on top. The vodka -- whatever they're using -- is clean, present, and perfectly measured. There's a subtle complexity to it without losing what makes the drink what it is. It's the best White Russian I've ever had. No hesitation. I've gone back twice just to make sure it wasn't a fluke. It wasn't. If someone asked me what my death row drink would be -- this specific cocktail, from this specific bar, is in the conversation. Easily. Teardrop Lounge doesn't just make great cocktails. It reminds you why cocktails matter in the first place. And that's why it's my favorite.

One of the best parts was how approachable the bartenders were. We asked for custom drinks based on our preferences, and both came out perfectly tailored. Creative without being weird, and strong without being sloppy. What really stood out was the price point. For the quality of cocktails, the prices felt very reasonable compared to similar craft cocktail bars in other cities. The vibe was also great -- relaxed, cozy, and not pretentious. It felt like a place where you could come for a special drink experience without feeling like you had to "perform" or order off a rigid menu. We liked it so much we actually came back a second time during our trip. Highly recommend if you're into well-crafted cocktails, friendly bartenders, and a laid-back but elevated atmosphere.

One thing that bothered me though (and I know maybe I'll get hate for this), is I feel like some of the decor is tone deaf. They have a bunch of colonial men ceramic decor, but they partner with and serve food from a Filipino company. We were colonized for over 300 yrs and still deal with the trauma from it. Please consider removing the colonial decor. I really enjoyed the bar and want to enjoy it in the future, but I don't think it's necessary to have those things in the bar and doesn't add anything to how cool the bar is apart from that. UPDATE: the bar messaged me. They were super professional and kind in their response. I really appreciate that they were open to my perspective on the colonial items and said they will be removed.
