Came here awhile back and the service is definitely commendable. Dishes were well explained, solid recommendations & friendly servers in general. The place was buzzing with chatter and seemed dining patrons were all happy to be there as well. My favorite dish was the burrata as this looked and basically tasted like a dessert. So yummy. Visually, the hiramasa Crudo was stunning with the color and ingredient selection. The scallops did taste a bit overcooked which was disappointing considering the price. Overall, definitely worth a visit.

Went to Bar Bravo for my friend and I's birthday. We managed to go early enough to catch the later part of happy hour (~5pm), and we were actually the first table there (granted, we went on a Wednesday evening haha)! They limited dining to 1.5 hours, which makes sense because the restaurant started to fill out towards the end of our meal. Even though its not a big space, it didn't get too loud even with 70-80% capacity. We were immediately served by the owner, Louis, himself. He was super welcoming and explained the entire menu to us. Off the HH menu, we got the oysters ($15) and vermouth spritz ($12). We also ordered Tofino King Salmon ($29), Spanish Octopus ($35), Tiger Shrimp ($32), Seared Scallops ($47), and Apple Tiramisu ($14) to end. I really appreciate that he didn't try to upsell us on the dishes, but instead told us how many dishes he thinks would get us full. In the end, we ended up ordering one more (tiger shrimp) and we were stuffed after. All the seafood was done well; however, I think the sauce(s) and "accessories" to the seafood can be improved. They're pretty innovative with the type of dressing, and I feel like it was a hit or miss with the both of us. I did really like their avocado dressing though, and seemed to go well with everything! My favourite was the salmon - super prominent fish taste, and was a bit tougher (because it was "dry aged") than what you would expect from sashimi. I would recommend getting that, and it's also one of their most ordered item on the menu. The apple tiramisu was also really good! And because it was a birthday, he gave us a shot of their espresso vodka, which was the BEST vodka-infused drink I've ever had. It was similar to if cold brew was infused with vodka and a little hint of vanilla. Super delicious. Would recommend coming here for HH; their regular dishes are a bit pricy, but some of them are worth it (for the right occasion).

The drinks at Bar Bravo were all delicious, especially some of the mocktails. However, the food was definitely the best part about the restaurant. Every dish here featured seafood, which speaks well to the ingredients that Vancouver has to offer. The servers were also great, as they helped to promptly fill waters or change plates as needed, and were accomodating for some timing requests!

Hokkaido scallops - so smooth and tender. Loved it.

My husband picked this restaurant since it wasn't too far from home and the fact that I looooooooooove seafood. The space isn't very big, and it was pretty dark inside. (The washrooms were dark too) I wasnt a fan of the dim lighting and would have preferred more natural or brighter light. The service was good. Our server was nice without being overly chatty or fake. The meal was well paced with the exception of the lull while we waited for our clams. Now the food. The menu is family style. You're to order a few small plates and a couple of the mains. The FOOD. WAS. AMAZING. It's not often where you order so many dishes and love each one. Everything was well presented and tasted delicious. Flavors that you didn't think would work tasted fantastic. (I'm looking at you chili oil and burrata) The octopus was nicely done - super tender. I cannot rave enough about the food, nor could I pick one favorite dish because they were all spectacular. The meal wasn't cheap, with tip it was almost $300 for 5 small plates, 1 main, a dessert, 1 beer and a mocktail, but the food was good, we agreed it was worth it. Free street parking available outside.

The service was good. Food was a bit salty and thus 4 stars. Server gave us complimentary shots as we were celebrating a birthday. Cocktails were delicious.

I had noticed Bar Bravo won Gold for both Best Seafood and for Best Informal Contemporary in the recent Vancouver Magazine Awards, but strangely enough, it doesn't get as much social media hype as a lot of other restaurants. We had made early dinner reservations and showed up on time. We were seated promptly. It's a nice casual space, and clearly buzzing with business. On the advice of our server, we tried the following: - Livia Sourdough: Good. The bread was cold, but still good. The whipped butter made is much better. - Tofino King Salmon: Very good. Definitely remind me of Japanese flavours, so familar tasting, and beautifully presented - Hamachi: Good. Another beautiful dish. The citrus flavours overpowered the fish. Comparatively, the King Salmon dish was better and more balanced. - Tagliolini: OK. Described as a bolognese, I was expecting something with more umami, but this one didn't hit as hard. - Ling Cod: Very good. Cod was done perfectly so each flake was still very tender. Impressive use of sides. - Seared Scallops: Very Good. Scallops done to perfection, and also very good sides. - Chocolate Cremeux: Excellent. Piece of art, but then so easy to eat once you take the first bite. - Strawberry Tiramisu: Good. No real hints of coffee, which is the risk you take when you call it a Tiramisu, but still very good. Service was incredible. Our server was actually the GM of Bar Bravo, and he was the ultimate professional. He gave us his food recommendations, he proudly served and described every dish he delivered, he suggested what order to eat the dishes, he constantly checked up on us, and he made small talk with my teenagers. After we paid and were ready to go, he went straight up to me and shook my hand. He said we could have picked any one of the great restaurants in the city, so he was very thankful we chose to eat there that night. It was a masterclass in customer service. Overall, a really nice meal. Some really strong seafood dishes, but it's the outstanding service from the GM that really stood out. I would give 4.5 stars, but since Yelp only allows full stars, I'm moving to 5 stars only because of the outstanding GM.

Could this be a contender for best new restaurant in Vancouver? I think so. I had an amazing experience at Bar Bravo the other night, from ambiance to service to food--it was all excellent. My family and I went for an early dinner (reservations recommended through OpenTable), and from the moment we stepped in, we were warmly greeted by the hostess and lovely lighting. We ordered a number of dishes, as the menu is family style share plates. We had the Tofino king salmon (raw), sourdough bread, shrimp with green Harissa, scallops with coconut milk, steelhead with autumnal vegetables, and mushroom potato ravioli. Each dish had its own unique flavor but every dish was equally executed. We especially loved the scallop and steelhead dishes. The shrimp was perfectly cooked as well. I also found that the prices were about 20% cheaper than what you would find downtown. Our bill came out to under $200. For the quality of the food, considering the amount of seafood we ordered, I thought this was a steal. I will definitely be back next time I'm in town. Bravo, indeed!

Decent food but overrated IMO. We were really excited to try Bravo after hearing they had won best new restaurant. However, our experience fell short of our hopes. We had the oysters, sourdough bread, hiramasa, free mantle octopus, squid bolognese tagliolini, and Manila clams. The good: Manila clams were the stand out dish that had really nice flavour with a lovely savoury shisho broth. Comes with a side of sourdough bread to soak up the tasty broth (probably not worth ordering the same bread separately). The meh: while the cooking style of the hiramasa was interesting, we found the passion fruit sauce a bit sweet and overpowering. Similarly while the cook on the octopus was good, the tomato sauce was the most noticeable flavour. And with the squid bolognese it was hard to tell there was even squid in it. Also minor details... I wish they had warmed the sourdough as it was served fridge cold. And while I enjoyed my drinks here, my partner's cocktail was tepid when it would have been nicer cold. Most of the dishes were $30-40 for both smaller and larger plates. Pricing for the smaller plates feels on the steeper side. Ambiance is intimate, and service was good. Overall a decent restaurant but not ranking among my favourite, either new or old. May return for the clams if I'm in the area.

The thing that stands out the most was the amazing service! We had a really attentive and friendly server. The food was good too and really well portioned. Not one of those places that charges an arm and a leg and then gives you small portions. We loved the salad and the amberjack.

Great service and presentation, our server also explained all of the dishes to us which was a pleasant touch. My friend arrived a bit early and they were accommodating enough to seat her. Easy free street parking in the neighborhood too! Our favourites of the night were the gnocchi and the hiramasa. It looks like the accompaniments on the hiramasa change seasonally (?) which is a nice touch! Clams portions were generous and the bread was great for dipping and soaking up the sauce.

Service was top notch. Our server was friendly and efficient. They changed plates for each dish which was really nice. Prices are not cheap here though and portions are small. Ambiance was nice and it started to get pretty busy around 6 pm. Glad I tried this place.

So talented with seafood! Octopus is marvelous, tender and juicy. Cocktail is nice too!

We came in on a Saturday with reservations. We had the three heave ho ($18), Lungomare ($17), bread and butter ($8), Hokkaido scallop ($27) and salmon crudo ($29). The three heave ho was a bit of a let down. No real passionfruit flavour. Wouldn't order this again The lungomare on the other hand was much butter. Very refreshing deep flavour. Would get this again For snacks we got the bread ($8) which was a generous portion. The bread was from Livia so it's guaranteed it'll be pretty decent. The whipped butter was similar to whipping cream but it lacked the butter fragrance. The scallops ($27) were interesting. They had a very prominent coconut flavour but I think it needed more calamansi to balance the coconut. The coconut was almost too much that it masked the flavour of the scallops Salmon crudo ($29) - tasted very similar to like a Japanese dish. The maple ginger dressing wasn't too overpowering. It needed more of the avocado Overall the service was pretty good. They came to check in on us a couple of times. The food was in sharing portions which I really like. You can try lots of dishes like they are tapas and you don't leave feeling overly heavy. They have a wide range of cocktails that look very interesting. It's a good place to snack over seafood dishes.

Juice Bar is open in the evening only, since the space is shared with a café during the daytime. The team is very welcoming even when you arrive early, which is rare for most restaurants. Once you receive your table number for at-the-counter ordering, go inside to chat with the servers. The incredible selection of local and international natural wines blew me away. I was incredibly grateful to try a B.C.-based Lambrusco, which was perfect for the cooler summer temperatures on the shaded patio. The food options are limited, which I prefer, so I would recommend ordering a few of these. The restrooms are easy to find and are very clean, and transportation to and from the bar is easy. Cycling routes are right off the patio, Ubering is simple, and walking is easy. On my second venture to Juice Bar, we had some pretty sad interactions with one of the female-presenting staff. She raised her voice at us multiple times when she wanted us to listen to their directions, and they also treated a few groups poorly. At one point, they came outside and were quite rude to a parking enforcement officer - when it seemed to be the Juice Bar person's fault. At the end of my experience, this person once again raised their voice with our group, demanding we leave the tight indoor space if we were finished - but we were hoping to ask a few more questions to the team. Instead, we left disappointed. My experience here was great, but this staff member should probably take advantage of some self-care or personal skills workshops. Or, just chill and have fun! Hopefully, it was just a bad day for them when we visited. I would typically take more stars off for this interaction, but the rest of the experiences were excellent. We will be sad to see this place leave at the end of September, but I look forward to returning when the space grows up into what comes next!

The food is where things really land. Frog legs arrive as the star curiosity and end up tasting strikingly familiar--so much so they echo the famed chicken wings from Anh and Chi in both comfort and flavour. The beef tartare is properly seasoned and genuinely delicious, rich but balanced enough that it never feels heavy. Ox tail is a unique inclusion on the menu and it follows through, offering deep, slow-cooked flavour that stands out even among the stronger dishes. Duck breast is cooked to a textbook pink, tender and juicy, an easy "order again" plate. Dessert keeps the momentum going. Service was fast and the waiter was very helpful making sure what we liked and what we didn't.
