Staff a bit wary until you (customer) show you genuinely want a decent drink and bite, and am not just another Chinatown-lurking hipster. Great place for pau hana (happy hour) with properly made martinis, terrific selection of beer (where else can you find Aylinger or Pinkus organic in Hawaii?) and good appetizers. Cavernous inside space, quiet courtyard lounge outside. read more

ive only had time to visit this place twice but ive loved it both times..i usually go straight to the back outside area, i think its beautiful. the crowd is pretty chill and the drinks are well made.. read more

Bar35 is a good place to head after work with your trendy 20-something co-workers. It's really loud most nights because of the cement floor. I like the back area with the open seating under the stars so that you can actually hear each other talking. They have a REALLY good beer selection for Hawaii (mostly bottles). We like to visit for the beer tastings (6 samples+pizza samples for $20) on Wednesdays. It can get crazy crowded on the weekends, but the weeknights usually empty out by 9pm. They don't have much in the way of food, but the pizzas are all really good and the fries aren't bad either. The waitresses are usually pretty friendly although I did have one drop an entire grape martini down my back and barely apologized and did not comp anything (but it was Rogue night at the beer tasting, so it was wall-to-wall crowded). At least I was wearing a purple blouse and I got off easy, smelling like grape the rest of the night. That's got to be one of the better drinks to smell like . read more

Came here on Friday the 13th. Really enjoyed myself! There was a fashion show but I was so drunk I couldn't really remember or see anything lol. Drinks are moderately priced, with $6 cocktails and $3 during happy hour. Their Geisha drink is really good! Good mix of people, and I didn't feel like I was at a high school reunion by seeing the same people over and over again. Would like to see how this place is on first friday's. The only reason I give it 4 instead of 5 stars is because I thought the outdoor patio would be larger. Other than that, I really like this place! read more

Music..music moves my soul. When i hear good music, it almost always negates everything else. They had an awesome VDJ spinning the beats, ppl were dancing, and the drinks kept on coming...what a fun, fun place. read more

1st time here..Met a ton of super awesome people. Drinks were reasonably priced, I'd say average.. The dance floor downstairs is pretty dark, so if you are on the shyer side it's a plus. The outside area is super chill. Cool seating, fresh air, another bar, and a dance area. The staff was on top of it.. From the bouncer to the bartenders, everyone was friendly and speedy. Great 1st impression for someone who doesn't usually tend to like the bar/club scene! I'll def be back. read more

My favorite bar in Chinatown. They have over 80 different kinds of beers, my favorite is the blueberry. The outside area is a great place to hang out with friends. read more

I went here with some friends and my wife and we had nothing but a good time. ID'ed at the door. Got drinks by the bar, fair prices for Hawaii. We sat down on the lounge seats and ordered pizza in addition to fries and chicken nuggets. Their food was okay and the atmosphere was good times. I'd go back again. read more

Blonde bartender suxs. Drinks are weak. I'm writing a longer review so I don't get fined

Great bar in downtown Honolulu. Mostly professional-types but all are welcome. Low-light, comfy leather couches all over. The only times I've gone is for happy hour, which I think is 4-7pm on weekdays. ANY 12oz beer for 3 bucks! I think Chimay is a dollar more, but still a great deal considering the place is nice and the beer is great. I would guess they have at least 50-60 different types of bottled beer. The pizza is quite delicious but small and thin. I gave this place 4 stars because the service is inconsistent. Half the time I get a great waitress who knows the beers and is helpful, the other times they're forgetful and slow. My girlfriend got upset once because the waitress looked at her and asked her if she wanted a mai tai or some girly drink. There is an AWESOME mexican restaurant next door (Maria Bonita's). read more

LOVE THE PIZZAS! I went there with some co-workers and they mentioned a pizza place around the corner. What? We're in Chinatown and there's a good pizza place? I then find out that it's more of a lounge that serves pizzas. I was expecting the worst, like delivery pizza. A great beer selection and great pizzas. They don't get too fancy, but a cut above typical lounge/bar pizza. One of my co-workers asked if I was going to expense it, because she wanted to take one home. If my boss reads this, I didn't expense her pizza. Chef Valenti should open up a place, I'd go. read more

We went to Bar 35 for First Friday(s?). We had been wandering around and we ended up here because a friend knew....well, she knew everybody. Bouncers, bartenders, people inside. That's besides the point. The place was PACKED so we headed towards the back and to the left which is the patio area. The patio area has a bar and is decorated with bamboo and a seating area. Plus the tradewinds came through and was a nice relief from the muggy, sweaty atmosphere inside. The wall made a comfy makeshift seat (perfect for you girls that have uncomfortable shoes. I have this problem ALL the time). The drinks were stiff and seemed to get stiffer as the night progressed. I'm pretty sure this had something to do with my friend who knew the bartender. People are so friendly, but that's pretty much what you get when you come to Hawaii. I LOVE MY HOME and I love Bar 35. read more

Great beer selection and happy hour. I go early cause I would never wait in the Friday night line. The sweet bankok pizza is so yummy, french kiss is pretty good too. My only complaint is that it's too dark, especially for 5 pm, let's get some dimming lights. read more

First time here was on a first friday. It was busy and packed but they had awesome happy hour prices. The drinks here are great my favorite being the lychee martini. They don't only have great drink specials here, but they also have great food deals as well. The french fries with the different dippng sauces are a must!! =) I love Bar 35 so much I had my birthday celebration there on a monday night. Monday night is happy hour all night so of course I was having a GREAT time..=) It wasn't packed either so it was perfect!! If you have friends coming down to visit Honolulu take them here, it's a cool place to hang out at.!! read more

DRINKS + PIZZA + CHILL -- need to kno yo -- - has a really nice back patio - dark (felt darker than outside on the street) - street parking - lots of bums & hobos outside -- oooouu yeeeah -- i went for a private event hosted by HISpeedating, and the ambiance really helped set the mood. It's really nice inside, mainly for the 25 - early 30's crowd... -- ugh -- bums were lingering outside... -- little insights -- had some pizza, and it was pretty good. I only went for the event but i definitely want to come back here. the only other time i tried going here was for first fridays and the line was CRAZY long...so didn't go. but definitely a place i want to check out again. read more

Nice big bar with two areas: main floor with a dancefloor and couches and a back garden area with couches. The back garden area has softer music so it is easier to talk to people there without yelling like in any other bar/club. It is also a great place to meet people if you go there on a good night (usually during an event). read more

Love the pizza from Francesco... Italian perdition with extra anchovies~ my FAVE! Also on Tuesdays and Fridays, The bartender Eddie is the best bartender! ;) read more

cool place to have some drinks... located in downtown so its pretty awesome that if you get bored at one place you can walk to the next bar. one of the only places that you can smoke at the bar (outside) read more

Hubby and I have taken to their Wine & Pizza night on Tuesdays. The pizzas are really good and we have loved almost every wine we have tried. The only drawback here is that, even when there aren't many people there, they play their music really loud. I can understand blasting tunes when your bar is packed with people, but why make it deafening when there are only a dozen people there? read more

Wow!! The back patio looks so much nicer, since the last time I was here a few yrs ago!!! Most definitely will be back!!

The first "bar bar" that I have ever gone to. That was about a year and a half ago and it is still my favorite place to get my drank on. Whether I'm feeling like experimenting with some lesser known craft beers or just sipping on some Tanqueray, this is the place to go. They've got the largest selection of non-mainstream beers that I've seen by far and the pizzas are seriously the most satisfying accompaniment. It does get busy on weekends, so i actually prefer to come during the week (especially mondays because it's happy hour all night and discounted fries, which are a-freakin-mazing with the garlic aioli) although obviously if you want to meet people and whatnot you'll have to put up with the crowds. read more

The happy hour drink specials are good and the space is comfortable. The food is not so good. The "eurofries" are more like mcdonalds fries with seasoning. The sauces are ok, with the garlic aioli being the best I tried. We ordered the salmon pizza which was kind of a let down. Small, kind of like a cracker with toppings. Not nearly enough salmon or campers. We wished we had went across hotel street for a proper meal. We had a male bartender who messed up my drink but then another bartener, a female, made me another and it was delicious. She also provided excellent service unlike the first bartender. read more

My husband likes to go here when I like to go to China Town for the night! They have the most beer selection in china town so it's the best place to go if you or the hubby wants a beer. Fun place to go however for first Friday and dance with your friends. Also there pizza is great! read more

Like their quiet large selection of beers and their pupus (appetizers). It is a good bar, but it is way too loud and crowded in there that at times, it's not even fun anymore to be in there. read more

Its one of the top island pizzas. And guess what its stellar. Who doesn't like their pizza? I think the bar itself has a place for your different moods, whether you feel like breathing the chinatown air in the back or feel like kicking it on the sofas inside there is something for everyone. one thing we love about this place is that it has chimays! Damn its good! Also don't forget the fries! Btw watchout for aku birds here.... Ive seen them.... read more

beer tasting for $20 that includes some pizza. awesome! the beer the night i went to was oriental. i didn't like oriental beer, but the concept was cute read more

$3.00 happy hour skyy martinis. 2 lychee balls per drink. i dont even know what else to say? i love this place. I also had their thai pizza which was really good, just enough spicy sweetness. the bartenders were very attentive and our glasses were always filled. I also love their outdoor patio although it has a very limited seating. read more

This place can hang with some of the best in LA, Sydney and Tokyo. It's bamboo framed rear garden is a delightful oasis in the hustle and bustle of Chinatown. Walking into the lantern lit space creates a transformation of time and place and you're whisked away to endless possibilities of an evening of frivolous fun. read more

Came at 5p good time to come and on a Wednesday. Joleen is a very nice server. ... X-tasy... Nice

I have never had such a rude experience at a bar in my entire life. My friend and I came to this bar, I was let in but the bouncer said that my friend's perfectly legitimate Arizona ID was a fake. She showed multiple cards displaying the same name and even told the bouncer to call the police to verify the authenticity of the ID. He told us "I'm not going to call the fucking police." We decided to go across the street to Royal where they accepted both of our IDs with no problem. The bouncer from Club 35 decided to follow us into Royal and said we had to leave because the bouncer at Royal "works for him." We attempted to call the police ourselves to verify her ID but were told the bar has to call them themselves in order for them to come out. When confronted with this information the bouncer told us to "get the fuck out of his face." Extremely unprofessional and demeaning. I will never attempt to come to this bar again. read more

I would give 0 stars if I could. They refused to take my real ID, and even refused to call the cops after I told them to in order to verify my ID. The bouncer was very rude and was too lazy to call the cops even though the bar was not busy at all whatsoever. Don't come here with an out of state ID, because they don't know how to do their jobs. read more

I'm gonna have to give this one a big thumbs up!! Awesome music and the people were not too pretentious!!! Bartenders are super fuckin fast!!! And their cool!!! read more

Went to bar 35 on a Monday for happy hour about 5 pm. We were the only ones there. I hear how packed this place gets but I didn't see it. Great beer list but I seemed to pick everything they didn't have. But I had a fee good ones and the happy hour price was sweet. Pizza was good. I need to catch this place on a crowded night. read more

Stopped by on a Tuesday night. Had a beer with a buddy. Decent prices and a wide variety of beers to choose from. Could be overwhelming, but awesome for a beer enthusiast because there were beers from all over the world. The bartender was very knowledgeable and helpful in drink selection and recommendations. The ambiance was pretty cool: cartoon flicks playing, different seating areas to fit your mood (couches , bar stools, tables). Pretty neat! Wouldn't have thought of this place to look like what I saw inside. Overall, great experience for great company. read more

another one of my go-to spots for after work and 1st Friday. Music is pretty good, nothing special- but still good. Food is decent, I was told they had great pizza- but being an eastcoaster my standards are pretty high and the last list nominated Hawaii as #3 for having the worst pizza in the country- no argument there. People pretty much stick to their own clicks here and doesn't seem to have to much mingling going on. they have good prices for happy hour but not a big selection for the hapy hour prices- I still to my normal full priced choice of Rum and coke All in all is still a good chill place to go with friends. read more

Good stuff for "fancy" pizza. Bar 35 is great on First Friday.

A great stop when youre in Chinatown...awesome pizzas and plenty beers.

This bar is packed during First Friday. The crowd is mixed older/younger lots of peacockers. The drinks are ok, had a red headed slut, and Malibu/Coke. When the bar is crowded the bar is hot, there a outdoor portion of the bar in back. Bar 35 also serves food, never tried. As for women, lots of HPU girls, tall blonds. Dress code is local style. . read more

Tons of beer to choose from and the happy hours drink specials are very reasonable. Oh, and the pizzas are a good starter during happy hour. Get on the email list to get the invites to their special events. They have a "backyard" with a bar and decent seating for groups and their booths inside are cool and comfortable. read more

Nice little place. Service was okay but it did take a long while for us to get our drinks. She may have been the only server in the place though. I enjoyed myself the music was good, lots of throw back songs from my time. Dj needs a little work on fading and mixing his songs. Other than that I liked it. It is a small place with couches and small places and tables to sit at. read more
