I don't know what's going on here, but it's been quite frustrating having to deal with BAMBU's erratic operational hours at their University of MN east-bank campus... I'm from southern CA and I've been going to the Bambu in Cerritos the entire summer so I was really happy to find out I wouldn't have to give up my milk teas just because I was in Minneapolis. Che......as in " Ch'yeah" but with a little less Asian accent and a little more funk to it. Due to the excessive amount of advertisement coming from my Facebook friends, Bambu was on my hit list to try for drinkable delectables in MN. I've never been to a Bambu dessert place before but I've had my share of Chè and I can say this place offers a great variety, better than most available at Vietnamese restaurants in MN. I chose to stick to the classic and order their chè ba mau #1 (tricolor dessert) and their toppings tasted freshly-made, not like the typical rehydrated variety you find in Asian groceries stores. I love how they also load up your cup with ample amount of toppings and I'm happy that it was not overwhelming sweet from the coconut milk and jellies. Mine contain pandan jelly, mung beans, some red type jelly that I felt has a crunch factor, and a black jelly which I'm guessing is grass jelly, oh and a white jelly that is maybe aloe (truly not a chè expert - obviously) . So needless to say, I don't think there's three types of jelly but a mixture that works well altogether. Love it! Thanks Bambu for the excellent drinks and friendly service. I'll most definitely will be returning soon. Oh don't forget to use a spoon. It's a must at the end since you want to maximize the amount of toppings you consume!!!! read more

I found this place in California and I'm so glad they opened up a shop in Minnesota! We need more places like this in Minnesota. The only con about this place is parking! There has been a few times where we ended up not even going inside because there was no parking spaces around! Service here is always super! Everyone is super friendly and will explain to you what everything is if you don't know what it is. They have a rewards program, so you can get free drinks after however many you buy. The atmosphere here is very inviting. Drinks here are really refreshing! I haven't tried a drink that I didn't like here. I love the smoothies and Che here! Was extremely excited to hear that a location was opening in Minnesota so I definitely had to stop by to hear all the hype. The location was kind of hard to find but once spotted there wasn't direct parking other than off street parking. It is kind of expected being the location is on Nicollet/Eat Street. The decor is very clean, has that organic cafe type vibe. Similar to Tiicup or Sencha. They do have a couple tables outside which is great to enjoy the weather outside. All on the walls are individual photos of each of the drinks and details of what they're made of. I am so happy that Minneapolis now has a place that's dedicated to che drinks! It provides so much more variety than what's offered in the vietnamese restaurants! The place does not open at 8 AM like it says on Yelp but actually opens at 11 AM. Some reviews mention it not being as sweet as the other BAMBU's they've been to but I kind of like that. It provides a moderately sweet refreshing drink, opposed to being overly sweet! They do offer some sort of syrup to add to your drink if you need it more sweet. Much like everyone else, it is definitely nice to see a Bambu in Minnesota! We were excited to try this place out and see how it compares to California. We did not leave disappointed. If you have not been to Bambu, you should go to Bambu. This growing national chain really got their dessert drinks and waffles right. So much variety and super delicious! A few things to keep in mind: -You can ask for less or no sugar and coconut milk will still make your day. -If the drink has a lot of beans, it is like a snack. Save some room before you show up, more than just bubble tea. -If sitting outside: The guy walking a bike with a flat tire down the street asking for money will yell at you if you say you are sorry for not giving him money. I've been coming to BAMBU regularly since it opened last year. I've only ordered their Che #1 and #10 and both are awesome depending on my mood. The #1 has a Coconut Juice base, chewy pandan jelly, pieces of canned longan, tender coconut meat, and crunchy basil seed. The #10 has a Coconut milk base, pandan jelly, red tapioca, and grass jelly. I typically ask for the drinks to be less sweet because the added syrup can make them a bit too sugary. read more

Only complaint is that it took a little long to get ours, and we were the only ones there at the time of order. Then it got pretty busy. The interior was charming and cute. First time at BAMBU and I loved it. There is so much to choose from. I had the #2 and it was delicious.

Bambu has always been around in southern states, but has never been in Minnesota until the past couple years. There is another Bambu location in Minneapolis right below Wahu which is located in stadium village. I ordered the Thai Tea and the Mango Frozen Yogurt. The Thai Tea was very delightful but I felt like it tasted a little bit watered down. The balance of the cream and tea was nice but they definitely added a bit too much water. Other than this small thing, I feel like I would love to try the Thai Tea at this location once again. The Mango Frozen Yogurt seemed to taste like the traditional Vietnamese Frozen Yogurt. It had a slight sour, but also sweet taste when eating the yogurt itself. The Mango was a great topping to the frozen yogurt because it added a different texture and taste than just the plain vanilla Vietnamese yogurt taste. Bambu is a great place to visit and I suggest trying these two items as well as maybe one of their Che's(Vietnamese Desert)! read more

A great place to come to for Viet che, coffee, teas, desserts, and the like. For those unfamiliar, che represents a class of home-made beverages, dessert drinks and puddings. That being said, I came with a friend & ordered the Bambu Combo, which included red, white, mung bean; taro, pearls, pandan jelly & combo jelly, coconut milk all in one cup. After having it, I found the dessert to be quite a delight. The mung bean components were starchy, but the taro, pearls, jelly, and coconut served to give the drink a quite sweet taste overall. Having the ice also helped increase the sweetness of the overall drink due to its colder temperature. All ingredients used here were fresh and on point. I also ordered Green Tea Snow on a separate visit but didn't find that quite as good in regards to amount given for price charged & an overuse of green tea matcha powder (bitterness was too much for my personal preference). Overall, still a decent option for Asian drinks/desserts. It also helps that this location has a decent amount of seating, some of it most comfortable in the form of sofas, couches, and rugs so it'd make a decent hangout spot with friends. read more

My husband and I love to try food and drinks in different states that we travel to. I, for one, am a huge fan of bubble tea and I would always try to yelp it wherever we go. I stumbled upon this on yelp and immediately bookmarked it and we tried it. We got there on a very cold raining Sunday afternoon and it was packed. I wasn't expecting the place would be crowded on a cold Sunday afternoon. My husband chose che' #6 which was full of fruits and it was just so delicious.I got che #5 which was an avocado drink. I was worried that It would be very diluted avocado drink but I was wrong and I was very happy that I went with it and it was indeed a very impressively delicious. Even though, the place is a bit smaller, they have a lot of selections and the customer service was great. Even when it was busy, the wait time for our drinks took less than ten minutes. The only down side is that, they have very few chairs to sit on and you won't be able to sit down and enjoy your drinks. read more

Pleasantly surprised to find bambu in the Midwest. The last time I ran into it was on the west coast. Bambu is the perfect place to go to when you're craving Asian desserts. They have many different combinations for their drinks from the standard milk and bubble teas to some of the more crazy ingredients such as grass jelly, pandan, and jackfruit! I've been here so many times and the drinks are great, but service is always SLOW! Yesterday blew my mind as Bambu has been open long enough to know they need to be faster. When I came in I was the only customer. I ordered 3 drinks and 1 pandan waffle. I know they are always slow so I decided to time it and wow you have got to be kidding me. So the pandan waffle always takes longer. Waffle should be 5 minutes at most as all you need to do is pour the batter into the waffle maker. It took 12 minutes for 3 drinks and the waffle came out 3 minutes after so making it a total of 15 minutes. This is terribly slow! Also, they had at least 3 people working as 1 guy took my order, saw 1 girl in the kitchen, and a different guy brought my order. This makes no sense especially with the waffle coming out 3 minutes later. This should take 5-7 minutes at most when each person can make a drink. I don't expect them to get faster as it's always like this. read more

Service was good but the che was VERY bland. They need to make it sweeter. They offered simple syrup but I feel like I shouldnt have to add it. The number 7 tasted like water. Had no flavor.! The number 6 and 10 were also not sweet at all. I'm Vietnamese and whenever I had che they are sweet. BAMBU needs to fix their drinks. Improve the sweetness or offer a sweetness level. I'll come back but I won't ever order any of their che. I'll test out their other drinks , tea and fresh smoothies. Hopefully they are not a disappointment. Also a con is there is not parking. Good drinks and fine area. But the music is way too loud. Louder than a typical coffee shop or even another bubble tea place, even after I requested for it to be turned down...AND I was wearing noise canceling headphones. Just overall their staff is loud when they talk in the back and in the front. So if you want to study, don't go here unless you're okay with abundant background noise.
