Remember when I said it would be my last visit, back in 2023? Well, I'm kicking myself... I decided to try them ONE MORE TIME because I was still irked about wanting to try the shaved ice...and it's become one of my biggest regrets. Just look at the photo I posted. Did a five year old make this..? It tasted as terrible as it looked. Not only that, but the owner (one of the owners?) was arguing very loudly on her phone, out by the register area. Tried but couldn't even have a conversation with my buddy at a table so we left (we were the only ones there). My ears hurt. Will never be back. For real this time.
Do not come here. Food 0/3 If you are looking for light and flavorful shaved ice, this is not it. This was so poorly done and unappetizing. It's like they don't even know how to put ingredients together! The condense milk was poured on so thick like it was old. You would think shaved milk would be pretty easy to do, but the taste was off too. Service 0/1 No working restrooms. No spoons left, only forks. Employee was not particularly empathetic nor did she seem like she cared about being there. They don't even turn on the tv monitors to display the menu. Decor and atmosphere 1/1 Cute seating and adequate tables for dessert.
First time I've been back since pre-pandemic and super disappointed in my experience. We were first in line and waited about 20 mins for them to even acknowledge us, I understand they had a line of orders to finish but they could have said something. The two workers even started washing the dishes before even saying anything to us.. I've been a loyal customer for a long time. I had enough stamps on my stamp card to get a free drink, however, the employee said they couldn't accept it anymore. I asked if she could make an exception since it was a free drink and she said no. I've spent hundreds of dollars here and she didn't want to make an exception for me. Terrible customer service with a team that doesn't understand how to greet customers? I definitely won't be back again.
The strawberry bing on its own is lightly flavored. Definitely not overwhelming in flavor and not at all sweet. Just subtle strawberry, which pairs nicely with whatever you decide to add on. The mango was so fresh and ripe, it was absolutely delicious. The peaches, during peach season, were canned which was disappointing. And the chocolate sauce drizzle was a good compliment. 2 people couldn't finish this but we both enjoyed it. They were out of a lot of options and flavors. We did come near closing so maybe they ran out after a busy day. They are adding a large selection of food to their menu in a couple of weeks.
Came here because friends out of town wanted shaved ice/snow. Unfortunately, they were out of it by the time we got there which was 3pm. So next time call them first to verify. Friend was also disappointed because she couldn't get her Pretty in Pink drink because they were out of rose. Tough luck 2 out 2. A little disappointed that they ran out of an ingredient that is in 2 of their specialty drinks. I got the tropical paradise with lychee jelly. It was a little overpowering with the addition of sweet lychee jelly. So I don't recommend since the drink is sweet already. Maybe just normal tapioca would be good or something more subtle. Can't recall what the other people got but one of them was oolong green tea. It was super bland. I don't know if there was tea in it to be honest. Bf was polite so he didn't want to be that one person to complain to get another drink. Another friend's drink was way too sweet. So they decided to pour some of hers into his drink to balance out of the sweetness. Yea, it was a good try. His was a little sweeter but hers remain the same. Again, didn't want to make a big deal so we left. Since after we got there, another 6-8 people showed up with only 2 people working. On a side note, not sure if certain drinks come as hot or cold but if it does come in 2 temperatures to have it on the menu or the cashier can ask the customer what they want? Apparently they got confused with the oolong drink not knowing cold or hot so the girl making it was a little upset with the cashier. We were a little loud talking back there. Maybe they're both new? However, the cashier was very nice to us, don't get me wrong. Maybe a little more training, especially if they're new. 3 stars this time because things were out of stock, sweetness level is not the same across board of milk tea. Will definitely come back to try the shaved ice (bing), hopefully they'll have it and maybe other drinks like Pretty in Pink.
I wanted to try this place since I was in the area. The drink tasted okay. It wasn't my favorite. Boba pearls were not the best. Overall, I would not come back when there are so many better bubble tea places now. Place needs an update and workers were a bit slow. It wasn't a bad experience but not a wonderful one either.
I ordered the Brown Sugar Boba Milk Refresher with 100% sugar and it was overwhelmingly sweet. It tasted like caramel at first. It got better when it got watered down. I really liked the next drink which was a black milk tea with strawberry and taro flavored at 80% sugar with tapioca pearls and lychee popping pearls! Sooo good! I love that I could get this delivered! Craving satisfied!
I came here after eying this place for a long time and was so surprised with how easy it was to find and it has a parking lot which is a win for me. I came inside and was greated right away and asked if I had any questions. I ordered the razzle dazzle on their signature drink menu, they also had so many options it was hard to choose. The drink was super sweet and tasty it was a mix mango and raspberry black tea, I love fruit tea the best so this was a great choice . I will definitely be coming back to try more of their teas and even bing!
We stopped in here for a treat after dinner one evening - it was probably an hour before closing time. I had wanted just a boba drink but was told they were out of regular sized boba. Not sure how that works at a BOBA place. Instead I decided to order the shaved ice. I got mango with kiwi popping boba and jellies (they were also out of my first choice of jellies - again?) and the condensed milk topping. I don't think I got the milk topping either. sigh. It was fairly tasty and quite refreshing, but also on the spendy side - I think it was around $6 without any additional add ons. The teas are around $5 AND you have to pay extra for boba!!!! (If you are lucky and they have them!) Much too expensive for me - I can go elsewhere for that!
I had to lower by a star for this place solely based on customer service. I decided to give Cha Yes another shot and was glad to see they had salted foam as a topping choice now. I ordered it as a topping on for my Thai tea and when I was handed it, I received a comment that was judgmental and unnecessary (as if it was a disgusting choice in a drink combo). First, I've been to many well-known/borderline famous boba places in LA, NY, and even Asia. Most have salted foam as a topping for many on-the-menu drinks and they definitely have not judged me for adding it on if the drinks don't come with it. Makes me question their knowledge level of the boba tea market as well. I am not surprised to notice other people commenting on their subpar customer experience here. I am not sure I'll be back. If I did go back, it wouldn't be for the service (which is not right given service is an important aspect of customer retention).
This is my first time with shaved ice and I loved it! I never liked ice cream that much, so this was such a nice alternative. It is fluffy and light, with minimal sugar. I got the taro with herbal jelly and boba on the side. They were very generous with the toppings! I got the mango sauce on the side and was glad I did. It was way too sweet. I would definitely want to come here again, especially to share a fun New treat with a friend.
This place reminds me so much of the bubble tea scene back at home in Houston. They have so much milk tea options (such as the Hokkaido milk tea, matcha tea milk tea, etc). They even have shaved ice! Today I got the mango bing with strawberry and mochi. Omg it was so good. Everything is fluffy and delicious. 5/5. I also got the Sereni-tea (mango, lavender, green milk tea) with herbal jelly, aloe Vera jelly and tricolor jelly. Exceeded my expectations. I loved it. Next time, I'll adjust the sugar level to be slightly lower, it can be a bit sweet. I loved today's experience. The owner/worker today was very helpful and kind!
Cute little Boba Tea spot, now with a bakery. I had a cinnamon roll and loved the sweet sticky crisp bottom that reminded me of a caramel roll. It was yummy. I've tried boba tea here in the past and they're okay, but not the best in the area. But the ambiance is nice with fresh flowers in the window and board games to play while you hang out. Service was friendly enough. I would come back if I'm in the neighborhood. read more
We attended the soft opening , and if that's resting things out then this place is going to be the best place in town! We are a bit unconventional so went with the tofu non mai. A little heat, nice and juicy and definitely shareable! The mango smoothie was a delicious way to break the heat of the jalepeno from the bon mi. And do not miss the baked goods! We went for the chocolate Swiss croissant. It was hands down the best I have ever tasted. Soft and chocolaty--not overly sweet. Everything in the bakery case looked amazing! Staff was friending and efficient despite the line. A definite request stop on my list! read more

I'm a bobaholic from Texas visiting Minnesota for winter break. I was worried there is not any boba place there but I was surprised! I bought regular milktea with taro pudding and popping boba; my fiance bought vietnamese coffee. I gave it 5 stars because : - They have a wide range of tea, slushes and smoothies - The staffs were very friendly and helpful with all of my questions - This is a perfect place to study or just hangout with friends during break - Coffee was filter coffee which is high quality and strong. Boba are soft and sweet just enough - Last but not least, the wifi is strong and there are many spots for parking! Highly recommend! read more
Cha Yes is currently my favorite boba/milk tea spot. With brown sugar milk tea and milk/cheese foam trending right now, I drove to Cha Yes like a total trend sucker and put both these elements together. Behold = brown sugar milk tea + tapioca pearls + milk foam is my new fave drink. It's not a combination on the menu but I think it turned out tasting like a delicious caramel cheesecake. Their tapioca pearls were perfect imho, big and chewy but not too soft on the outside or hard in the middle. What's more, they also boast a free parking lot, bing (shaved ice dessert), fantastic service (they let me sample the milk foam), plenty of seating, and a customer loyalty/rewards program. read more

Yuuuumy yuuuum..!! I just keep forgetting of doing my review for this cute place. Ok Let's start, they have a lot of options so you can basically get any kind of flavors and toppings, they are really good and fast. The place is clean and they are nice. My favorite Black tea with passion fruit. read more
This was pretty good bubble tea. I had the passion fruit green tea with mango popping boba. The boba were very good flavor but the outside was a little thicker. That being said I enjoyed my drink and it was finally a place that listened and understands what less ice means. I would recommend them and will be back if I'm in the neighborhood read more

It's pretty hard to mess up a brown sugar bubble tea so of course this drink tasted very good. I got the drink at 100% sweetness level so it was indeed very sweet. However, I am giving it a 4 star because this "refresher" drink was literally just milk poured on top of boba. And really it should probably be milk tea with boba not just straight up moo moo. Anyways, it was still a tasty treat just not really the brown sugar boba experience I was hoping for. read more

My favorite place for a boba tea fix. Was addicted to their almond milk with lychi and basil seeds..but I have to temporarily stop for a bit bc I am packing on the pounds. They have a good varieties of teas, milk teas, smoothies, and shave ice cream. Yum! Very refreshing drink for a hot day. Haven't try the shave ice but is definitely on the list to try next. Service was good, quick, and the place is clean. You get one item like boba or jelly with your tea or milk tea, and any additional item is extra charge. They have a punch card for frequent customers. I would recommend this place to friends and family. read more
Mediocre overall experience. The cashier didn't ask my sugar level preference... typically all bubble tea places ask. You'd think I'd remember too, but I didn't and the tea was too sweet for my liking. The presentation for the shaved ice cream was sad and overall tasted bland. For the price, taste, and presentation I'd rather visit a competitor. To be fair this is my first visit and based on other reviews my experience differs greatly. I'd like to give them a few more tries if I'm in the area. read more

I am so glad ChaYes is open finally!!!! Their milk teas are so delicious! They have fun signature flavors, or you can choose your own flavors. I have tried Pretty in Pink, which is Rose Green Tea and Vanilla. I loved it!! Their boba is soft and chewy. The Sereni-tea signature tea (mango + lavender tea) is very delicious too. I can't wait to try all the flavors. ChaYes will have Taiwainese shaved ice soon, but they don't have it ready quite yet. The cafe itself is soo cute and cozy! I love the decor. Lots of seating too. I hope ChaYes adds a punch rewards card, cuz I will prob be going all the time LOL read more
Oh yes! A new dessert in town! ChaYes Tea!! I am so happy when there is a Taiwanese Dessert shop in Minneapolis! Minneapolis really need Taiwanese dessert like this! The dessert place is located on the University Avenue near several different restaurants in the location. So, basically after you had your lunch or dinner you can go here to get your dessert or bubble tea! I really love the place it has a nice decor and nice ambience. Music is a little bit too loud for my taste but that is alright! The people who work at this place are really nice ! The restaurant does not have a lot of desserts in their menu. So, basically they have shaved ice or different kind of bubble tea. The shaved ice is really soft really nice and you can custom it what ever you like with several toppings. I gave them 4 stars instead of 5 is that because the shaved ice doesn't look like in the picture, it is a lot smaller than what they have in the picture, with the price of around $8 they should have given us more shaved ice. I did not try their bubble tea, but a lot of people said their bubble tea is pretty good! You do not need to worry about parking! They have their own private lot and a lot of public parking around the area! read more

Finally the Taiwanese shaved ice is in town. I gave this place a 4 simply because they are out of mango shaved ice in the early afternoon on Saturday? They better stock up more if they want to retain or gain customers. The portion comes in a single size or a 3 person size. Take the big size (you can finish it yourself if you don't want to share). The boba is chewy not hard; my kind of boba. Will come back again for the mango shaved ice. read more

I love that there's a boba place on University! It's a cute boba cafe with lots of seats and tables for you to hang out and drink your boba. In addition they have a punch card which is awesome! S I ordered the Pretty in pink with pearls. The standard sweetness is 60% and it was too sweet for me. Otherwise I really liked the drink. The pearls were chewy and tasted deliciousn! The shaved ice wasn't my favorite, I did like the popping pearls! It melted way too fast, and didn't get to finish it. Even thought I wasn't a big fan of the shaved ice, I would come back again if I was in the area. read more

This is the tea place that I frequent the most. The parking is highly accessible and free (it's an outdoor lot), it's on University Avenue which makes it easy to find, and the prices are super reasonable. The owner is very nice, and the employees are very quick at taking orders and making sure that the tea is at the sweetness I prefer. Whenever I am nearby, I always go to ChaYes. I think it is underrated and with all the options available, I highly recommend giving it a try. I would love to see a stamp program so I could get rewards too! read more
